Breaking news – As many of you will know the US embassy in Cuba had announced what I believe was the planned entry period for the DV2022 visa lottery. That period was designated to start on the 1st day or October.
However, that date has changed because in the last few minutes the official announcement has been released with the entry period defined as October 7, 2020 to November 10, 2020.
Of course, it’s possible that this was the correct date all along, but the timing of the announcement makes me think it was a changed date.
There are TWO countries that have been made ineligible – Honduras and Hong Kong.
The passport requirement is still there. I will be checking to see if there are any other rule changes, and of course I will guide you through the entry process as we get to the entry date.
The website for entry is here.
So, the full instructions are available at the link below:

dear sir
Embassy in Nepal said that they wont process any case until 30th Dec. so we re not getting 2NLs in Nov or embassy is talking about interview?
Have a safe journey?
September 30, 2020 at 14:07
We don’t know exactly how they will handle the timing.
September 30, 2020 at 14:00
Hi Brit,
I have a doubt and it is bothering me. I am DV lottery 2020 winner.I went to the USA on F1 visa and within 1 month I entered(illegal entry) Canada through the border and sought asylum. But my asylum was refused and Canada immigration issued a deportation order. So I left the country. Does this immigration record affect me on obtaining US immigrant visas? ie: DV lottery Visa? The consular officer requested my asylum package and told me he needs to review it.So obviously, he is going to refuse my case right?
Thanks
September 30, 2020 at 14:06
I don’t know – but of course, showing disrespect for immigration laws is not a good thing when you expect to benefit from immigration laws.
October 3, 2020 at 06:50
Hi Simon,
I am a DV2021 winner and my spouse, the derivative was once deported from the Netherlands. Is it going to cause us denied our visas at the interview?
October 5, 2020 at 15:44
Probably not.
October 3, 2020 at 14:28
Hi Brit,
Thank you for replying. I explained him why I did it. will wait and see. please delete my question if you can.
Thanks
September 30, 2020 at 14:00
Great Simon…you are always pioneer…I hope to hear nice news for dv 2020 winners at night and wish our dv 2021 run smoothly… God bless u and all ur efforts
September 30, 2020 at 14:15
Hey Simon, I currently am in us under F1 visa and dv2021 winner. I submitted my ds-260 but I would like to go back to my country for Christmas. Do you think that it is safe for me to go outside of US?
September 30, 2020 at 14:37
There is more to that question.
Are you processing CP? Then yes.
September 30, 2020 at 14:42
I would like to do an AOS
September 30, 2020 at 16:58
Then you should not have filed the DS260!
You need to learn the process and anticipate the time when you will be current.

September 30, 2020 at 14:44
Brit as per usual, u are truly dedicated to giving precise info on everything and thank you for that. My question is, I will be applying this year for DV 2022 and my husband doesn’t want to migrate with me and doesn’t want a green card, he wants to keep his B1 Visa and stay in our country of birth and continue to live and work (same goes for my stepson who will be 20 years and wants to stay here and keep his B1 visa), will this affect my application? What will I tell the officer?
September 30, 2020 at 17:00
No problem, but they must be listed on your entry.
September 30, 2020 at 14:45
Thank you, Mr.Simon for all the efforts put in here. This will be my first time playing the lottery and hopefully I win.I have been following you on u tube and your blog.
September 30, 2020 at 17:00
Good luck!
September 30, 2020 at 15:34
Hi Brit, If I have a stepdaughter I have to put it on my app, I’m married to her dad
September 30, 2020 at 17:02
Yes you must both include her.
September 30, 2020 at 15:39
Thank you, Mr.Simon for sharing your expertise among the the new aspirants.
With your permission, I would like to request many new applicants to go through the DV 2022 instructions thoroughly, read them 5-10 times. Many winners commit simple mistakes like spelling mistakes or country of chargeibility or withholding information about dependents while rushing with applications on the first day or last day of DV registrations .
Take your time, it does not matter if you submit it on first day or last day.
go through the pre-view of filled application of DV multiple times before submitting. or run a dummy data to understand the application format.
Many mistakes are committed due to lack of reading the instructions or lack of English proficiency and taking assumptions that if both countries are eligible then both continents are eligible. Many D V winners got rejected due to simple basic mistakes in following the instructions resulting in money and time loss.
we got more than one week to read and understand these instructions and Mr Simon is ready to share his expertise to clear any doubts before anyone start filling the D V application.
Remember that Winning a lottery ticket out of 50000 is a pure luck and God’s blessings and we can try next time if unlucky this time. Be positive
Have a good day
September 30, 2020 at 17:03
Agreed
September 30, 2020 at 15:41
Hello Mr. Simon I am planing to apply for dv 2022, but I am a little bit confused about the work experience requirement. I have been working in Turkish rail way construction company for the last 6 years as Occupational Helth and Safety Technician but my vocational school training is on surveying construction. So is that possible for me to apply or will I be required to provide a minimum 2 years training on Health and Safety?

September 30, 2020 at 17:19
Dear, Mr Simon,
Thanks for your response. but I already read your article and I still do not understand this ” two years of work experience within the past five years in an occupation requiring at least two years of training or experience to perform” as I told you earlier on my comment My education diploma (on surveying) and my work experience (on occupational health and safety) are different, but both of them are classified in job zone 4 or 5 with a SVP (Specific Vocational Preparation) rating of 7.0 or higher. My question is if get selected for DV 2022 can I provide my work experience without 2 years training certificate?
thanks agian.

September 30, 2020 at 18:21
Hello Simon,
First of all, Thank you very much for your supports that you are giving all of us.
I started to read the instruction of DV2022. I got very confused about the question that the country of issuance of passport. I have a new and valid passport which will be expired on (24.09.2030). My passport is given me by my own country Turkey. But on the passport says issued by Maltepe where is in the (city) of Istanbul county where I currently live now. Should I write (Turkey) as country of issuance of passport in entry cause they ask as country OR should I write as issued by Maltepe where currently appears on passport now ? They ask us about country of issuance. I couldn’t figure out.
Maltepe : City
Istanbul : County
Turkey : Country
Thanks again 🙂
September 30, 2020 at 19:52
country!
September 30, 2020 at 21:00
Maltepe is not a city, it is one of the municipalities of Istanbul.Your city is Istanbul and your country is Turkey.
October 1, 2020 at 03:55

October 1, 2020 at 20:29
Only if you are divorced. If still married, you must include your spouse.
October 2, 2020 at 01:13
Help with this: “high school or two years of experience”.
Does it mean even if you are not graduated you can apply for as PA?
October 2, 2020 at 23:02
The FAQ has a very good article that explains.
October 2, 2020 at 09:16

I have looked online And i cant find any information on which of the dutch highschool diplomas you need.
I also called the consulate in amsterdam The told me to send an email. I have done this 2 time. They don’t respond. Do you maybe have any information on this?
Thank you for you time
Hope you have a nice day.
Greetings,

What you need is the same education level that would allow you to start University. That is what US HS education means.
October 2, 2020 at 14:09

Ask Curtis about your case.
October 2, 2020 at 15:49
Hello,
Is it ok to register for the upcoming draw if we got the selected in the previous one since we’re not sure if we’ll get a visa issued (being selected doesn’t guarantee visa issuance).

Please sir, I have a personal concern and would like to share with you for your advice. I would appreciate with you could give me your email. Thank you !

October 4, 2020 at 16:46
Hey Brit!
I was born in Scotland but have an eu passport and citizenship. My parents were there on business matters and were born in a EU country aswell. According to exceptions if you are born in a country of inelegibility, this does make me eligible to enter DV2022 ?
October 5, 2020 at 21:42
Yes – if you are able to prove that your parents were in Scotland for a temporary business assignment, you can charge to one of their countries of birth. This is all about country of birth, not citizenship.
October 5, 2020 at 21:46
Thanks for the response!
What is the best way to prove it. I can provide my parents birth information should i attach their passports aswell?
October 5, 2020 at 22:59
You should discuss that with them. It’s their proof – you were a baby.
October 6, 2020 at 03:55
Sorry could you elaborate a bit more? Who is them the goverment or my parents? I need to submit the evidence on my application correct? I just want to make it as flawless as possible
Thanks for everything
October 6, 2020 at 23:00
With your parents. AS I said – its their proof.
October 6, 2020 at 18:55
Dear Brit
I won 2021 lottery n submitted the Ds-260 4 weeks later n it said I should receive a reply to schedule an interview, but I never received anything. Plz advise what to do. Thanks
October 6, 2020 at 23:38
You just need to wait.
October 7, 2020 at 08:10
Dear Brit,
Is there still a possibility for uscis to reply to 2021 ds-260 applicants being in October now n with the start of 2022 dv lottery?!
And if they don’t reply could I lose the chance of winning 2021 lottery?!
October 7, 2020 at 17:25
I don’t understand your concern.
October 9, 2020 at 21:57
Dear Brit,
*I’m still waiting, but do you think there is still a possibility that they could respond even with Being in October and DV 2022 entry start?!
*Is it possible that I could lose the chance of being contacted for my DV2021 winning?!
Your support is always appreciated
October 9, 2020 at 22:36
1. There will be no interviews in October or November.
2. Nothing is certain until the visa is in your hands.
October 6, 2020 at 23:05
I will obtain proof from my father that he was on a business visa should i also attatch his passport to the aplication. I reckon that will be proof enough.
October 6, 2020 at 23:51
Well to be clear, you would only show proof at the interview.
October 7, 2020 at 01:18
Hi Brit,
Thanks alot for everything u are doing to all of us.i appreciate it.my question is: Am already lawful permanent resident here in the United States. I recently filed pertitions for my spouse and one daughter.so,what will be your advice to me ,do u think it will pose a problem if i still enter the DV lottery 2022 for them? THANKS.
October 7, 2020 at 04:47
No problem.
October 7, 2020 at 01:21
Sorry for asking the same question twice. I really do apologize
October 7, 2020 at 06:14
hi Brit I am a Dv 2020 winer with my visa already approved. I wish to ask if the is any problem if I go in for dv 2022?
October 7, 2020 at 15:44
No problem.
October 13, 2020 at 17:53
Can I ask why do you want to participate in Dv2022 if you already have an approved visa?
October 13, 2020 at 21:40
one scenario I can think of, if the ban extended, your VISA will mean nothing and not valid.
By participating in DV2022 you at least having the chance to be selected in 2021 and if you already in US, they will ask for more selectee and giving him your VISA.
That is what I think but Simon of course has the right answer not me!
October 13, 2020 at 22:15
@Yas – I agree.
October 7, 2020 at 07:34
Hell Sir Britsimon,
I have 3 questions .
Q#1: If I have short hand birth certificate wha will be impact .
Q#2:I don’t have any relatives in usa .Wha should I answer in interview and also region where we want to live.
Q#3:If my wife can’t speak english will they reject ?
October 7, 2020 at 15:56
1. You might be delayed while you obtain the long form certificate.
2. Whatever is your plan.
3. No
October 7, 2020 at 11:42
hi Brit .I am a Dv 2020 with my visa already approved.I wish to ask if I can still go In for 2020 ?
October 7, 2020 at 17:35
For 2020?
October 7, 2020 at 22:08
Hi Simon,
I think I have entered my name in the wrong order for dv2022.
I entered my family name right but in my passport it is written this order: Family name, name1 and name2.
Now, I have entered name1 under “middle name” and name2 as “first name”.
In the submission confirmation my name is written in a different order now, wich is
family name, name2 and name1
Is this gonna be a problem?
October 8, 2020 at 16:04
If they suspect that was done to create multiple entries, they could disqualify you. BUT if there are no fraud concerns you could correct that if selected. For now. Do nothing, just see if you get selected.
October 8, 2020 at 18:24
Than You! I only have one submission number.
I just got confused because I live in a different country where my actual first name is considered as a middle name
Than you again, fingers crossed!
October 8, 2020 at 20:50
Hi! Can one apply for DV2022 if he/she was already selected in DV2021 and submitted the DS260?
October 8, 2020 at 23:04
Yes
October 9, 2020 at 10:25
Hi Brit
I want to enter the 2022 dv lottery with my 4 years old son. But he is currently not with me now. Can I use the old passport picture I used for the previous dv lottery.
October 9, 2020 at 15:13
Hi! Do you expect the number of applicants for DV2022 to be similar to DV2021? Because DV2021 had nearly half as many applicants as 2020 and 2019. 6.7 million vs 14+ million
October 9, 2020 at 21:58
Yes.
October 10, 2020 at 10:35
Hi BritSimon,
I entered the DV2022 lottery but I made the mistake of submitting my photo as a png file instead of jpeg. Do you think that my entry will be disqualified?
Kind Regards
DV 2022 Dreamer
October 10, 2020 at 19:33
No
October 10, 2020 at 14:47
Hii Brits can you please help me clear my mind…
I filled the form and proceeded to submit after going through the summary but the system server or connection was down/not reached. So I started over again and proceeded but this time it went through and I got the confirmation number.
Can it be counted as double entry? (worried because I saw “photograph received” at the summary section) before the site shut down
October 10, 2020 at 19:52
No that would not be a double entry.
October 11, 2020 at 15:18
Hi Brit. My husband has a child before we got married but we didn’t list him as a derivative during our entry form because his mother refused to provide his picture and his birth certificate (for her own person reasons). We won and now she is asking that we put him on the DS 260 form. I don’t think it’s right. What is your say on this thanks?
October 12, 2020 at 21:31
You broke the rules by not including the child. The only outcome is disqualification.
October 11, 2020 at 16:27
Hello Simon,
I am trying to help somebody with the DV2022 entry, and actually I encounter the following situation:
Applicant C (who is an Iraqi citizen but born in Yemen) and both parents hold Iraqi citizenship and not living in Yemen anymore.
During C’s birth, the mom used to work in Yemen (i think on government or private teaching contract for many years)
Does Applicant C select Yemen as country of changeability? Or Iraq based on her parents assuming business in Yemen did not grant them the residency of Yemen.
Taking in consideration that Yemen is one of the 6 countries that Trump apply his travel ban on?
Based on 2nd FAQ list of the DV-2022 , 2nd point, I am leaning towards Iraq as the country of changeability?
What do you think?
October 12, 2020 at 03:09
I just watched your YouTube video and I am guessing she has no option but to choose Yemen and she doesn’t have the flexibility that spouse has at 5:12 minutes you mentioned in your video on Oct 11, 2020.
October 12, 2020 at 22:44
Correct
October 12, 2020 at 21:32
Yemen. It’s place of birth. Nothing else.
October 13, 2020 at 00:31
Yes Sir. Thank you, your video helped a lot. Appreciate it.
October 11, 2020 at 17:50
Mr Brit
Every time when I trying to enter the DV 2022 it says ” cant reach the site”, after filling the part 1& 2 of the application form.
Hiw to overcome that? Please help
Thank you.
October 12, 2020 at 21:38
Close all browser windows, make sure your internet connection is good and complete the entry faster.
October 11, 2020 at 19:27
Hi Brit, thanks for your great efforts
I was born in Palestine-West Bank and as per the instructions of DV 2022, my country of eligibility should be Jordan. Now in the “Country where you were born” section I can choose west bank- no issues but what should be my answer to “Are you claiming eligibility based on the country where you were born?” (Y/N).
Note: I tried to answer with Yes and then the next question was automatically answered with Jordan. I tried with No and then I had to choose Jordan manually.
Thanks in advance.
October 12, 2020 at 21:46
Yes is the right answer – and that means Jordan.
October 14, 2020 at 15:35
Hello Simon! Im from venezuela, as you may know things are kinda difficult over here. My passport expired in June last year and i haven’t been able to get a new one because well, nothing works how its supposed to. I want to enter the DV-2022 lottery by picking the option something along the lines of “i live in a communist country and can’t obtain passport” but i’m kinda worried that if i were to get selected, i know its a very thin chance, and i have a passport by that time it could be a problem. Do you think i should try anyways?
October 14, 2020 at 15:39
Use the expired passport since it has an additional 5 years of validity.
https://www.state.gov/the-united-states-supports-extension-of-validity-for-venezuelan-passports/
October 14, 2020 at 18:36
Hi Brit,
My passport expires on December 2020. Can I apply for Dv-2022?
October 14, 2020 at 23:41
Yes
October 15, 2020 at 17:16
Hi Brit.
short question: if both I and my wife apply, can we use the same sets of photo? There are new photos, taken few days ago.
October 16, 2020 at 04:25
Yes
October 16, 2020 at 07:16
Dear Simon,
This year we will again participate in the diversity lottery. Hopefully this will be the lucky year for us! We have had a photographer take our pictures (first time). We have two young childeren and we are a little bit unsure about the cropping tool of the lottery. The eyes need to be in the range 56 to 69% and the head needs to be within the oval. However when we do this, one of the two requirements is not met. Do you know what the most important requirement is regarding photos of children? Do we need to have the head within the oval space or do we need to keep the eye height requirements? Or do we need to fulfill both requirements?
We hope you can help us! Thank you in advance.
October 16, 2020 at 21:34
You are overthinking the photos. Relax. It’s fine.
October 19, 2020 at 07:26
Thank you for your reply! We took your advice and participated in the lottery.
October 16, 2020 at 13:16
Hi Brit
I am married but my marriage was a traditional marriage which is accepted in Ghana as marriage though it does not have any legal backing.
I have gone through a number of your post about marriage and I need endorsement from you wether I should register as marriage or unmarried.
Thank you.
October 16, 2020 at 21:45
I don’t know the laws in Ghana. To be considered by the USA it needs to be legally recognized.
October 16, 2020 at 17:36
Brit i must commend the tremendous job u do for us all here but more importantly In DV 2018 where we came up just short because of the change from current AF to 38000. Though we didn’t succeed I still hold your guidance in high esteem .
My worry now is that on entering the DV this year I have made a mistake with my name. My name is ARREY but I mistakenly entered AREEY instead. In this case what happens if I win? Do I get denied the visa for this slight error or I have the chance to correct it on form DS 260. The date of births, place of birth and passport numbers for both my spouse and I are correct but for the above error. What happens in this scenario IF I win then.?
I will hopefully be waiting for your feedback.
October 16, 2020 at 22:07
You can correct the error on the DS260 if selected.
October 17, 2020 at 13:32
Hi Brit
when i entry for Dv-2022 for me and my spouse is the same email address entry will be rejected from system ? thanks
October 17, 2020 at 14:01
No problem.
October 17, 2020 at 14:34
Thanks a lot ! for you and your great website . you are the (King of Dv)
