Just in the last couple of days a number of people have received an email from KCC asking for an applicant to submit the main required documents by email. This is a new procedure implemented this week. The official instructions have now been amended to include this new procedure, so it seems it will be needed by everyone. However, KCC having the documents early may allow them to increase the speed of processing later and it may make the interview process simpler. So – if you receive such an email it is safe to respond. Note, the email address being used is a legitimate email address , so as long as you are sending your documents to this address ([email protected] )
there is no concern.
The list of documents is given in the email. There is no need to ask me about these documents. The need for translations is also explained in the email.
Importantly, the email says that an interview will NOT BE SCHEDULED until these documents are sent. So – if asked to do this – get on with it!
OK, below is the text of the email, BUT DO NOT do this too early (meaning before receiving the email) because you will see that you need to supply the police cert, so you don’t want to obtain and send that until nearer the interview.
Last thing. PLEASE read the email fully before asking me questions. The email itself contains CLEAR instructions.

Case Number: 2019XX000XXXXX
Dear ************:
The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has completed processing of your DS-260 Diversity Visa application form and the DS-260s of all accompanying family members.
In order to continue processing your case, you must submit electronic copies of the documents below in .jpeg or.pdf format to [email protected]. Use your case number as the subject of the email. The maximum email size is 30MB. If the total size of your attachments is larger than 30MB, send multiple emails using your case number as the subject of each email. Please send your documents for KCC review only after you have collected all of the required documents for yourself and all accompanying family members. Send documents only to the [email protected] email address; for any document processing questions use the [email protected] email address.
Documents photographed or scanned with a mobile phone are acceptable, but every document must be fully legible. Illegible or incomplete documents must be re-submitted and will delay processing of your case.
All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the translation is accurate and the translator is competent to translate.
You will take original or certified copies of all documents you submit to KCC to your visa interview at the U.S. embassy or consulate. Submit the same documents to KCC that you will take to your visa interview. Any differences between the documents you submit electronically to KCC and the originals you present at your visa interview could cause delays in processing or refusal of your visa application.
Do not mail paper documents to KCC. Any paper documents sent to KCC will be destroyed.
For more information on required documents, refer to the Department of State’s Diversity Visa webpage.
Documents Required for All Applicants:
• Copy of passport biodata page (no translation required)
• Birth certificate
• Military records for any applicant who has previously served in the military
• Police certificates for applicants 16 years of age or older from all required countries
• If you have been convicted of a crime, a certified copy of each court record and any prison record
Collect and submit your documents promptly. Your case will not be scheduled for a visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate until KCC has received and processed all required documents. Missing or illegible documents will delay processing of your case. Diversity visas are numerically limited and there is no guarantee a visa will be available. Only a consular officer can determine, at the time of the visa interview, if you are qualified to receive a Diversity Visa.
If you have questions about document submission, you may contact KCC at [email protected]. The KCC telephone number is 606-526-7500 (7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. EST).

November 3, 2018 at 15:12
Brit have read the article thanks very much for keeping us informed. In my case I have already schedule for interview next week. Is it a problem?
November 3, 2018 at 15:17
in my opinion this will delay the process because there are people who will not send them forget or send wrong documents and there cases will be late and that is bad for the other cases like me AF31XXX
November 3, 2018 at 18:52
That would actually be good for you.
November 3, 2018 at 15:25
good evening
I am in a French speaking country and my documents are in french
I would like to know if these are the original documents that will be sent to the document and if this document must be translated into english before sending them to the KCCDV document

The article above answers that question.
November 3, 2018 at 23:38

November 4, 2018 at 02:38

November 4, 2018 at 00:08

Hi Brit,
I have studied in Canada for total of 9 months in 2008-2009 and back to my country since, so can you please advise if canadian police certificate will be required for my case as it happened 10 years ago, I have a big CN (AF4xxxx) but I would like to prepare because if required, it might takes time to get this document from my country
Thanks
November 4, 2018 at 14:54
Typically not needed, but if in doubt, get it.
November 4, 2018 at 06:33
Hi Simon. , I have to take two police certificates because I have lived over a year in Greece. When you apply for it in Greece they send the copy to the USA embassy in Athens and they in the embassy of your country . They don’ give a copy to you… What should a person do in this case? How can I send a copy to KCC when I don’t get anything in my hand ?
November 4, 2018 at 14:55
Write an explanation in your email.
November 4, 2018 at 07:22
Thank you Brit for updated & mandatory info…
Last week I inquire KCC about my Ds Processing status they replay ” Your form has been recieved & pending embassy review ” ,,, Having this replay do u think I’ll be elligible for the new doc requirement,,,??

November 4, 2018 at 14:59
I don’t know.
November 4, 2018 at 09:52
Hello Brit.,
I am dv 2019 winner from Myanmar, Asia. I completed and sent my ds260 form in June. I worked in Cambodia for about 7 months. In my ds260 form, I forgot to provide the address in Cambodia when I lived and worked there. May I know it can affect my chance of having an interview? Do I needed to provide it by unlocking the ds260 form? I’m worried about delaying the processing time of my ds260 form by unlocking it now.
November 4, 2018 at 15:07
Unlock.
November 4, 2018 at 13:50
Good day sir
My question is I have never been to or stay in any country apart from my original country I was born, did I need a police certificate as part of my document? Thank sir
November 4, 2018 at 15:14
Yes. You also need to read the instructions.
November 4, 2018 at 16:11
Hello Brit,
I am 2019AS0001×××
It is my turn to be current in next VB. But just before a week of the publication of next VB, it has asked to submit the documents without any time framework. To get the police report, it takes almost four days in my country. What will happen in this situation ?
November 4, 2018 at 16:46
I don’t know. Do as you have been instructed and see what happens.
November 4, 2018 at 16:53
Hi Brit..
i am the principal selectee and my passport is ready but my wife’s passport is not yet ready.
is it possible to send first my DS 260 which includes as well my wife information (but did not ask my wife passport number in my ds 260) and later on send my wife ds 260 (here they asked my wife passport number) when her passport is ready?
my case was current since october
November 4, 2018 at 17:08
Yes, use another official ID.
November 4, 2018 at 18:10
okay sir, so you mean since my wife’s passport is not ready i can use my wife’s official ID card number to fill out her DS 260 and send then send her DS 260?
November 4, 2018 at 18:26
Yes
November 4, 2018 at 19:12
thank you sir. you saved my day. i was worrying about it. and that means the day of the interview my wife’s passport must be ready imperatively for her to be able to get the visa. but as for now we can use the official ID card number for her to be able to get scheduled for the interview.
November 4, 2018 at 19:50
thank you Brit for the job you are doing for us.
please my case number is 2019AF117** and i sent my ds260 since june 2018. but now i have my first new born child in this october. i am always single and i don’t want to travel with family for the first entry.
my question is do i have to unluck my case to fill ds 260 for my child.
thank you
November 5, 2018 at 05:20
Yes.
November 5, 2018 at 00:11
I’d think email is not a reliable way to send those important documents. It will be much better to upload these to official website directly..
November 5, 2018 at 05:22
Regardless, you will do as instructed.
November 5, 2018 at 12:45
Thank you for your update Simon,
So, if that is included under the official instruction, for those of us who didnt get this email yet and not scheduled:
1. does that mean we first expect this email and then 2NL?
2. Do we need to ask KCC for this email if our case number goes current?
Thanks for your time Simon
November 5, 2018 at 14:41
As I pointed out this is a new procedure. That means we don’t know how it will operate yet.
At this time I would suggest people plan to submit this information a month (or maybe two) before their number becomes current. Not more than that because the police cert should not be too old.
November 6, 2018 at 14:37
Hi dear,
Regarding the police certificate there are instructions on the official website saying that the police certificate is valid for 12 months
So what is the meaning of too old? More than a year?
November 6, 2018 at 14:53
In some cases (where the CO is sure you have not been back to a country since the report was produced), a police cert can be accepted even if older than 1 year. However, as a principle a police cert has almost no logical validity. I could have a 1 month old police cert but been arrested for bank robbery 2 weeks ago. So – having newer police certs is wise anyway. COs are human and allowed to digress from set norms. So – we have seen COs asking for police certs from a foreign country where the selectee has not lived for more than 1 year. Technically not correct, but once the CO has asked – it becomes the requirement.
November 5, 2018 at 15:19
Thank you so much Simon. That makes sense
November 5, 2018 at 17:01
Hi Simon,
I will need to get a criminal/police record remotely from one of the countries I used to live in. They told me they will mail the report to me directly but that it will be sealed and that I will be required to bring it unopened to my interview. They said it’s a requirement for all US related visa immigration interview however it seems I will need to open it in order to scan and email it.
Does this sound correct to you?
November 5, 2018 at 17:28
Possibly. Check the reciprocity page for that country.
November 5, 2018 at 20:21
Thax for the update. Just received the email
Case no AF11xxx
November 5, 2018 at 23:43
hi brit a query please; all the documents are in french that is our country’s official language so shall we translate it in english? or send it in french only; best regards
November 6, 2018 at 00:24
That is covered in the official instructions.
November 7, 2018 at 00:53
hi brit, we really appreciate your work, we got couple of questions where your answers are really really needful
1. could we proactively send the documents as we filled the ds260 1 week ago and the case number is 2xxx? or wait for kcc’s mail first?
2. only the principal applicant has to send the documents or even derivatives also have to?
3. the police certificate is that the same with the criminal record? please can you explain if it is for which purpose please or that is the certificate which will state if you have been arrested yet, went already to prison or you have committed a crime yet? am i right ?
4. as per my previous query , ” That is covered in the official instructions.” sorry cause i didn’t get your point well, you mean we have to send the documents in french or we have to translate it in english then send, please make me understand what you mean please . thanks and regards
November 7, 2018 at 04:04
1. Use your own judgement.
2. Read the email.
3. Read the instructions.
4. Read the instructions.
I am not going to do all your thinking for you. Put in some effort.
November 6, 2018 at 07:39
Hola. I have dual citizenship, so I have two different home addresses in Moldova and Romania for more than 12 months. Even if I live and work in Moldova, sometimes I can go to Romania for a few days a year. Do I have to submit a certificate from the Romanian Police?
November 6, 2018 at 14:28
Possibly. It will be up to the CO – so if I were you, I would obtain both police certs.
November 6, 2018 at 08:29
Hi Simon.every 2019dv loterry winner must send them all the documents or only the winners who receve the email from KCC?thanks.my case number si 2019EU20***
November 6, 2018 at 14:37
They say it will be the procedure in all cases, but we s=don’t know for sure. As your number gets near, get the documents ready and send proactively if you want.
November 6, 2018 at 09:25
Hi Brit. Do derivatives get the letter too or just the principal applicant? Blc my husband who is principal applicant got the mail but I as accompanying wife have not.
November 6, 2018 at 14:38
Just the principal.
November 6, 2018 at 16:08
1) But he will have to include my documents too as it states: “Please send your documents for KCC review only after you have collected all of the required documents for yourself and all accompanying family members.” Am I correct?
2) can our case be processed if my documents as derivative is not sent along?
3) if I understand well I will only get the last letter 2NL which has the interview date. Am I correct?
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND PATIENCE
November 6, 2018 at 17:34
1. Yes. That is what the instructions say.
2. I don’t know. Why not just follow the instructions?
3. I don’t know. This is *NEW PROCEDURE*
November 6, 2018 at 09:29
Hi bits…just received the email captioned FURTHER DV DOCUMENTS REQUIRED. I have obtained all documents listed not listed except for the police report which I am setting off to take . Questions …is this a new proceedure spread across for all applicants?
November 6, 2018 at 14:39
Yes – that is what they are saying.
November 6, 2018 at 11:44
Thank u brit..I’ve received z email…now I’m processing documentation..
– Do u think I’ve to include education docs even if not listed on z required docs….
November 6, 2018 at 14:41

November 6, 2018 at 21:15
Sorry bro can you mention your case No to predict how long will it take for us thank you
November 7, 2018 at 03:19
Hi, What is your case number?
I think before a month you said my case number is not available?
November 6, 2018 at 14:44
Hallo dear,
I have received the email asking to send scanned documents and i did
I was planning to re-use my passport and take the old one with the new on on my interview
Can I still do that?
As they says all scanned documents should be the same document I will take to my interview.
Or its better to renew it after the interview and carry both of them if I approved?
November 6, 2018 at 14:58
Your choice.
November 6, 2018 at 15:17
Good day dear BritSimon
My Question is about police certificate .I lived/studied in Cuba for 6 years, before leaving the country I took the police certificate and never went back to Cuba. Can I send that cerificate to KCC?
Thank you
November 6, 2018 at 17:32
Generally they would accept that as long as you can satisfy the CO that you did not return to Cuba.
November 6, 2018 at 17:41
Hello sir
I had sent my scanned documents to them because 4th vb is near.how do i know they had received my mail or not..
November 6, 2018 at 17:47
You don’t.
November 6, 2018 at 19:17
Hi Britt, If we have not been in the military or convicted of a crime, so we need to submit these documents? Or just an explanation saying we haven’t? Thank you!
November 6, 2018 at 20:34
You provide police certs to prove that you have not been convicted.
For military you only provide documents if you have been in the military.
November 6, 2018 at 19:38
Britt, I am very confused about checking if my country requires the police check. I am from Australia. I have visited the reciprocity page however do not see anything about green card? Please help I am so lost!
November 6, 2018 at 20:33
On the reciprocity page you scroll down to the police report section and expand that. You will need a police report for Australia.
November 6, 2018 at 19:48
Hello brit,
I have received the email today. I have all documents asked, except for police certificate. In my country official holiday is going on and will reopen after 4 or 5 days and after that it takes 3 days to get it so i will have to wait 1 to 2 weeks. My question is will i be in trouble for reporting late and how long can i take to submit all the documents. Also does this makes my interview date faster because my case number is considerably far. Can i expect my interview date closer.
Best regards,
Nepali
November 6, 2018 at 20:36
Your case number determines when you are scheduled. Being faster with these forms will not make your interview faster.
November 6, 2018 at 21:26
Can you leave us your case no roughly thank you
November 6, 2018 at 20:02
Hello dear BritSimon
I am a winner of the dvlottery 2019 with case number 2019AF17xxx . Based on statistics from previous years, I would spend my interview to March or April.
I have not sent my ds-260 yet because I’m waiting for the birth of a baby this month.
my questions:
1- Is it normal to wait or I must submit ds-260 and update it after the birth of the baby.
2- Is a 1-year police certificate still valid if you are no longer in the issuing country?
3- May I make the medical visit in my current country of residence and go to present it to my interview in another country.
Thank you
November 6, 2018 at 20:36
1. You can wait until after the birth.
2. Yes
3. No.
November 6, 2018 at 20:48
thanks a lot of Brit
November 6, 2018 at 20:56
Hello Brit where do I receive interview letter that states the schedule? Would it be on my eimail?
November 6, 2018 at 21:38
Yes. Read the FAQ
November 6, 2018 at 21:10
Please anybody can say us if they recevied the KCC email after o before the 2NLS letter?
November 6, 2018 at 21:38
BEFORE!
November 6, 2018 at 21:16
hello after sending documents to KCC should expect any notification from the KCC that they have received our documents ?
November 6, 2018 at 21:39
No
November 7, 2018 at 00:17
hi Brit…i have submitted all documents to the stated email address. I have also included academic and job related documents but very careful enough to start with those listed as the email itself at some point reads All the Documents you will be taken to the interview. 1.Should I resend mentioning just those mentioned or just leave it as it is ? 2. Will that cause any delay or problem?
November 7, 2018 at 02:40
Do u get any conformation email after submition of document
November 7, 2018 at 04:01
No need to ask me about every tiny detail. Use your own judgement.
November 7, 2018 at 09:19
I haven’t got any kind of conformation email after sending so i was asking about it do other got applicants get or not.
November 7, 2018 at 01:06
My friend with case number 11000 just came to email to send the documents …. i am from albania …. can assume that this visa bulletin will have an increase of up to 11000 ???
November 7, 2018 at 01:31
hey brits i am not clear with this –> OK, below is the text of the email, BUT DO NOT do this too early (meaning before receiving the email) because you will see that you need to supply the police cert, so you don’t want to obtain and send that until nearer the interview.
i think it needs further explanation should i release the police certificate after the sent email(about document uploading) or after 2NL? what does too early means??
November 7, 2018 at 04:06
If you can’t understand, just wait for the email.
November 7, 2018 at 04:05
Patience.
November 7, 2018 at 02:43
I had submitted all the document they asked for but i havent received any reply from them..how do i know they had received my mail or not
November 7, 2018 at 04:06
It’s not like a carrier pidgeon. You don’t need to check.
