The May visa bulletin has been released. This is for JUNE interviews.
As we can see the regions that were already current are still current and progress has been made on the 4 limited countries.
For those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. I know I am going to get a lot of people who will ask me this exact question – so let me say that again. 2NLs will be sent in about one or two weeks time – that means the latter part of the month. The schedule is that VBs are published between the 8th and the 15th of each month, and 2NLs go out from the 15th to the end of the month (most typically around the 20th to 24th). This is the same every month, so there is no need to ask me.
As we know the 2NLs for last month were delayed, so that might cause a delay of the 2NLs for this month. KCC must still have a lot of work to do in dealing with the rescheduling of interviews previously cancelled.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means (for Iran Nepal, Egypt and Ethiopia).
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt or Ethiopia, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.
Read this link if you are unsure how to read the visa bulletin.

Dear Simon,
I had my interview with my family (wife & 2 children) at 24/5 at Cairo embassy when the officer told us that our visas were approved and to wait them withen two weeks, but then we found ourselves on AP whan we checked CEAC.
By emailing the embassy, asking if there is any document missing or extra information/clarification is needed from my side, I got the general reply of mandatory administrative processing with no extra feedback.
For me (the principle applicant) I have a valid P1-P2 visa when I passed through 4 months on AP.
1- Do I have to do anything from my side to accelerate this AP?
2-Can this AP take 4 months like the AP done on my P1-P2 visa which means we miss the fesical year?

Dear Simon,
I & my family had our interview in 17th of May (at Cairo) and the counselor told us that our visas are approved and to expect them within two weeks, but surprisingly we found our selves in A/P since then.
As I have an important business trip,
– Can I call for my passport and sent them back when they ask for it?
– Does that may impact the visa status after that?
June 2, 2017 at 02:49
1. Yes you can
2. THat will cause a further delay.

Hi Brit,
I have a question regarding the medical check yellow envelope.
DS-260 forum contains me, my wife and 2 kids. We did the medical exam and got the sealed yellow envelope for all of us. If we got the approval in the interview (scheduled 24 May) can I go to US (leaving my family behind) till settling a job and home then bring them later? If that is Ok should I have the yellow envelope that contains all of the family medical results? What bout my family boarding after that?
Thanks,
May 10, 2017 at 17:40
Dear Simon, I need to clarify that I am the main applicant
So can I travel alone, and my family catch me later?
Thanks,
May 10, 2017 at 20:22
The principal winner can enter the USA before the derivatives. Then the derivatives will carry their own envelopes when they arrive.

Hi Simon
I have been doing quite reading the ranks and when they are being current and many people trying to figure out when their number will be current etc. Right now on May 2017 all the regions shows as current. Is that mean all the dv2017 selected person will have an appointment date. Even with very high rank numbers?
May 6, 2017 at 17:47
Yes. Because the amount of selectees was very low in DV2017
May 4, 2017 at 22:59

Hi Simon,
I lived in China for four years. I applied for a Police certificate and it was taking forever to be issued. Finally, it’s going to be issued two days to my interview. Meaning I cant have it in Yaounde on the May, 12.
If I provide a scanned copy and DHL details at the interview pending the arrival of the original certificate, how will this affect my case?
Thanks.
May 4, 2017 at 18:57
They might put you on AP until you give them the original.
May 3, 2017 at 15:40

Hello Simon,
I have an out of topic question for a friend: are greencard holders legible for food stamps in the US?
Regards.
April 29, 2017 at 14:41
I don’t know – an LPR needs to be wary about seeking public assistance because it can cause problems for the later citizenship application.

Hi Brit,
So I entered the US about a month ago to activate the green card, and today I received a USCIS notice on the mail saying that I have a biometrics appointment on May 1st, which if I don’t attend, will make my application considered “abandoned.” I can make it, but I was planning on returning to London for 3 months in mid May before coming back for good.
I am now worried because I was not expecting this biometrics appointment at all, and I don’t know if anything else will come up while I’m away.
Thoughts?
Thanks.
April 23, 2017 at 22:22
Just attend the appointment and relax. It is quite common – no big deal.
April 23, 2017 at 22:26
Ok got it, just wondering what would have happened if I had returned to London earlier tho. Never heard of this biometrics for people doing CP.
April 23, 2017 at 17:49
Sir,please I checked my ceac status and is showing AP and is making me a little bit worried.is it normal
April 23, 2017 at 21:24

April 24, 2017 at 01:17
Thursday (20 April 2017),
April 24, 2017 at 02:48
So then yes – it’s normal. Wait a few days.
April 24, 2017 at 04:03

April 23, 2017 at 04:49
Britsimon, thanks for all your advice,I and my husband went for our interview in Accra and I was approved.we told to go to DHL to pick our passport and documents in two weeks time. As you always say be truthful and very honest because the questions they ask are about us and our marriage life so being truthful is the key.thanks a lot sir
April 23, 2017 at 15:11
Congrats.
April 21, 2017 at 23:29
Hello Brit, I have my appointment already in 3 weeks but my original documents both with the copies all got missing.. Am confused right now, what should I do?
April 22, 2017 at 00:12
So you have already asked me a couple of times about your missing passport. Now all the other documents have gone missing. It sounds like you are either very badly organized or you are trying to cover some lie with new documents. Either way – you can expect some questioning by the embassy. If the embassy is Ghana – you will probably be denied.

May 3, 2017 at 14:51
Hi Simon! You are right that I may be badly organized but that am trying to cover up some lie, it’s far fetched. Not everything is said in public. However, I was able to lay hands on the other documents but for my passport which is under production. Thanks however, u have been of help. I have interview on Tuesday.
Thank u sir
May 3, 2017 at 15:18
Good luck then. Is it Accra?
May 3, 2017 at 16:10
Thanks very much. Not Accra, it’s Yaounde
May 3, 2017 at 16:19
