This is for July interviews.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. I know I am going to get a lot of people who will ask me this exact question – so let me say that again. 2NLs will be sent in about one or two weeks time – that means the latter part of the month. The schedule is that VBs are published between the 8th and the 15th of each month, and 2NLs go out from the 15th to the end of the month (most typically around the 20th to 24th). This is the same every month, so there is no need to ask me.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

Hi Brit!
Do you have any prediction for EU? Really unhappy about VB. 🙁
May 10, 2018 at 14:41
Predictions – sure – many very disappointed people in EU. AS for final numbers – wait and see.
May 10, 2018 at 14:39
Dear Brit. Do you remember such a situation in recent years as the current circumstance of EU. This much amount of selectees who couldnt get a chance of interview.
May 10, 2018 at 14:43
There have been cutoffs before, yes.
May 10, 2018 at 14:39
Wow..close..hopefully next VB!
May 10, 2018 at 14:40
Hi Simon,
Where did you get the VB? I don’t see it published yet https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin.html

Thank you!
May 10, 2018 at 14:41
hmmm…
May 10, 2018 at 14:42
Is redistribution for EU still possible for next VBs ?
May 10, 2018 at 14:59
that redistribution came for Africa I think. almost + 10k cases month to month
May 10, 2018 at 15:02
Maybe next month could be EU…
May 10, 2018 at 15:02
I don’t know if the full redistribution has been done or not.
May 10, 2018 at 15:46
Huh? That doesn’t make any sense. Redistribution from where?
May 10, 2018 at 16:02
I know you think that I am stupid cause you delete my comments but that big jump in AF does not mean they are redistributing visa which could be left from other regions? (banned countries, nacara and so on… kcc could knows how much will they have left).
Please Simon do not insult me, it was just sugestion to Leo.
May 10, 2018 at 17:05
WHERE THE HELL DID I INSULT YOU???? Stop with the silly attitudes. I’m tired of people taking insult over NOTHING!
Now – an explanation if you care to listen.
A redistribution occurs when a region has a surplus of visas, and the redistribution moves from an under issued region to a region that needs additional visas. AS looks likely to be under issued, but AF is also under issued compared to it’s quota. So – it does not make sense to talk about AF having received a redistribution, when it still hasn’t got anywhere near to it’s original quota. The AF quota is 43% this year – so 21500 at 50k, and so far AF has less than 10,000 issued. See the point?
May 10, 2018 at 17:53
well I thought I was writting clearly Simon. You have never insulted me before I wrote my post, I was AFRAID that you could after reading my post above – because I could be wrong and you do not like it. Many times when people do not understand something/ are wrong you are nervous, SHOUTING etc. YOUR REACTION WAS WHAT WAS I AFRAID OF.
BEFORE I asked my first question here on this blog or wrote opinion I checked datas, read articles cause I didn’t want to waste your time. You are expert here and NOONE of us can’t compare with your knowledge.
I didn’t see any article or comment about redistribution before, that’s why I ASKED you about that and also asked not to offend me – cause I can be wrong. Now I feel I must apologize for asking, sorry, I was wrong Simon.
I will not waste your time anymore.
Wish you all the best, you may not know but your blog is what they are talking about even in Japanesee embasy ( my friend from there brought me here). Congratulations for Africa/ Cheer ups for Europeans – hugs to all from granny. Besitos
May 10, 2018 at 18:04
I don’t understand/enjoy being accused of insulting people when I give a straightforward answer. I gave you an answer that had no insult at all – I simply pointed out that talk of AF having received a redistribution made no sense. Saying something makes no sense is NOT calling you stupid, or insulting you. And yet you accused me of thinking you’re stupid, deleting your comments and insulting you. NONE of which are true. Really – it’s exhausting. Don’t be so sensitive!
May 10, 2018 at 18:15
Also – I just searched the trash (messages I delete) and spam (messages automatically deleted) folders. There are none of your messages in either folder. So – that comment is baseless.
May 10, 2018 at 18:35
well, so my comment from “conservation” with @didikoko and @mic just disappeared. Is just gone. Maybe some bug I do not know. But nevermind It is your blog, you can do whatever you want without any explanation, I was rude during that “conversation” and if you @didikoko or @mic read that massage I would like to apologize YOU two also. I think you are good man Simon. I also think that many people here are grateful because your help. I am.
I will not waste your time anymore. I am still do not understand all process of DV but will try to figure out.
May 10, 2018 at 18:47
I deleted some stuff from didkoko because he/she was literally just *making up* crappy historical numbers and working everyone up about conspiracy theories for no reason. I believe he/she was just trolling. Your message might have got deleted if it was a reply to something else I deleted – but I don’t know why it wouldn’t be in the trash in that case.
May 10, 2018 at 16:37
Your previous post :
Why does this happen?
Well there are several answers. The first is that the law allows some redistribution of unused visas.
May 10, 2018 at 16:53
Yes – but what region has exhausted it’s visas at this point? Why talk about redistribution for AF when it is MILES away from it’s quota.
May 10, 2018 at 14:43
Amazing I am at 3267# after one week or two the second letter will come
May 10, 2018 at 14:43

May 10, 2018 at 15:39
congratulation! I am glad you are happy! ^_^
May 10, 2018 at 14:51
Britsimon, what do you think of this monumental increase for AF ? Not sure how to take it! Can such huge increase lead to stalled progress for the last two VB months ?
May 10, 2018 at 15:40
Large increases in the final months are not uncommon (because the density is low). BUT wait and see what happens.
May 10, 2018 at 14:52
Hi brits. I from cameroon cn AF27***. I current on june. The VB of july are already released but since I didn’t receive my 2nl. What’s wrong? I am so worried. Thanks
May 10, 2018 at 15:40
There are many others in the same position and those people were told they would get July interviews.
May 10, 2018 at 14:52
Good morning Mr.brit
I hope that you are doing well,

https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2018-aos-only.336256/
May 10, 2018 at 14:53
Finally after the long wait .. more than a year they reach my number .. what a day .. thank you Brit .. now the hardest part begins ..
May 10, 2018 at 14:53
Europe month to month – 1,600
Africa – 9,700 (Egypt – 1550) 😀
lol
May 10, 2018 at 14:56
Brit, do you think a jump like the one in Africa (9700) will be possible in Europe for next VBs ? Or, it is almost impossible ?
May 10, 2018 at 15:04
look for that quota 18,300. europa ate a lot of its visas.
kcc know what they are doing, that pace means they will reach quota in september or it is even possible in july:/ (that means last cut off)
If there will be any new VB for europe numbers would be very low (pace even lower than this).
eu 25xxx
exactly how CAL said few weeks ago, now I know it is over, like MARTA said
May 10, 2018 at 15:16
sorry august not september.
May 10, 2018 at 15:45
You have the data Lionel. What do you think?
May 10, 2018 at 16:24
I think there won’t be any jump. But jump in Africa was unexpected.
May 10, 2018 at 16:47
Not really unexpected at all. We were all wondering about the low visa isssurance in af.
May 10, 2018 at 16:55
Unexpected by whom?
May 10, 2018 at 14:55
hi brit my case No is 2018Af34*** please can u answer the following questions please?
1. does it mean my number is current?
2. will my interview be held in july? if yes around what date?

May 10, 2018 at 15:43

May 10, 2018 at 15:21
I will suffer until the last month ??
SA 16xx
May 10, 2018 at 15:26
You will be fine, let the suffering for me with SA 21XX
May 10, 2018 at 15:30
I am not so sure but Thanks
We have a facebook group called lotería greencard venezuela we are more than 100 preselected and we help each others.
See you there
May 10, 2018 at 15:49
You have no need to suffer any longer. You need to think about other options.
May 10, 2018 at 19:00
It’s alright, I am always thinking about tons of options. But hey guess what, the 2019 draw is on my birthday this time, maybe I get an unexpected present hahahaha it would be fun to tell xD
May 10, 2018 at 15:29
this VB was big celebration for AF & Asia and grief for EU and other regions.
I don’t know how could I have been so stupid last year when I was making plans and dreamed about moving on to USA.
EU 25xxx
May 10, 2018 at 15:37
The famous wrods: ***Wait and See****, my opinon: ALL CAN HAPPENS. We need to suffer to the end of road….. : /
May 10, 2018 at 15:42
Hey kk you can never predict but looking from the previous year in EU they indend to issue less than 1000 visa per month for the last 2-3 months and that is terrible newa for us
Ps. EU 24k
May 10, 2018 at 15:32
Juan, my number is 17xx from vzla ” it’s all a birth”, with this big jump for AFRICA, i think this is a “good news” and the next VBs ( only left 02) will be current!.. All can happens,
May 10, 2018 at 15:36
I hope so. Im from Venezuela too. In our facebook group we have a lot of people +1800 and we need to be current
May 10, 2018 at 15:51
Excellent! I am from mcbo. For all prediction / data / theorics calculations, nobody could predict this huge jump for Africa.. For me, Current it is a good chance for SA in the next VB´S. End of Road and Game Over.
For other hand, in the next DV2019 my wife or me, the system will select one of us again “Yeahhh””.. jjajaajaa
May 10, 2018 at 15:40
What kind of a statistics is this? There is gonna be at leat 5000 real cases left in EU. This years dv process is full of mistakes. This is not an error in statistics, an error term can not be this much. So frustrated.
May 10, 2018 at 15:52
Dmd you are right, it is just too unfair to select such a large number of winners and at the end leave them empty handed
May 10, 2018 at 15:40
Sir can you tell me please when I’m gonna get the second letter iam af3267# is it after a week or two
May 10, 2018 at 15:52
Really?
May 10, 2018 at 18:47
Lol I mean your guessing your opinion thank you sir
May 10, 2018 at 15:47
Congrat AF region!!
But for EU very upset, until EU2674х become less(
I can not understand what’s going on.
May 10, 2018 at 15:48
I´m so happy, thank God, for give this chance
May 10, 2018 at 15:49
Hi Mr. Simon,
Which one is current for July Interview:
a) Europe 21900 and below
b) Europe 21899 and below
I wonder whether cutoff number included or not to say current?
Thanks
May 10, 2018 at 15:50
b
May 10, 2018 at 15:53
Hi Brit, do you think it’s safe to assume next VB will be higher than EU22,2xx? I am very afraid they might just stop the VB….
Thanks
May 10, 2018 at 15:59
@Mayer Philip
He will tell you “wait and eat vitamin C” 😀
10,000 cases pace for Africa
VS
1500 cases for Egypt?
That’s Bullshit!!
Now i have a question, suppose my case number went current in September then they decided to hold the visa for “AP”.
What if the “AP” took forever?
Who’s fault is that?
Mine or theirs?
They should at least give me my monet back .. right?
I know Simon opinion is different, he will say the rules are the rules, it’s nobody’s fault however they won’t refund you anything!!!
May 10, 2018 at 17:09
They make it clear the visa is not guaranteed. So since you know the rules, you are free to not participate in the process if you don’t like the potential risk. That is your choice.
May 10, 2018 at 17:23
No, they failed to process my case in the proper time hence it’s their own fault!!
AFAIK, they should process cases before the interview not after … Is that correct?
They must give me my money back, otherwise that’s robbery and cheating!!
May 10, 2018 at 17:28
No.
You seem to be under the impression that you have some right to be processed in a certain way. You don’t. You have no rights to a visa, it’s a privilege, and they are free to process any way they want and apply any procedures they want. If security checks mean you cannot be cleared in time, then you will not be cleared and your money won’t be refunded. If you don’t like the terms, don’t proceed. Really – it’s that simple.
May 10, 2018 at 17:38
Who said anything about any rights to have the visa?
I paid 330$ to have a service.
They failed to do their own work for processing my case in the proper time.
I have the right to ask for my money back.
It’s that simple too.
Besides there are some frauds which can occur from they side.
They can hold soooooo many cases for “AP” just to collect money!
There must be something to prevent them from doing so.
May 10, 2018 at 17:44
OK – I have explained. You seem to want to not believe what I have said – so best of luck with that!
May 10, 2018 at 17:53
Thank you!
Tell you what?
It’s not even enough to give money back, they must be sued too.
May 10, 2018 at 18:05
Feel free to spend money on trying to sue them. However, if your lawyer is honest and has any clue whatsoever, he/she will tell you the same thing I told you for free.
May 10, 2018 at 23:34
My apologies for ask.
Did you pay the fees? When did you pay? When had you the interview(s)?
There is time yet to get an visa issued from now to september.
In the other hand, It’s a lottery. Some rules apply, and we are not american citizens, because that, there is not rights nor obligations!
May 10, 2018 at 23:45
Dear agent13,
If you’ve received your 2NL then you have been formally informed of the terms of the DV lottery. Just in case, let’s refresh your memory: “Dear DV Applicant,
This is the official notice for you to pursue your application for a DV visa. An appointment has been scheduled for you at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate stated below. You and all members of your family who wish to apply for a Diversity Visa must appear at the appointed date and time for your interview. Please notify the office listed if you cannot keep the appointment. You and any eligible family members will be required to submit sufficient proof of identity upon arrival. If you fail to obtain a DV2018 visa by September 30, 2018, your registration will expire. Your family members must also obtain their visas prior to September 30, 2018 , or they will not be permitted to join you in the United States under the DV program. Please follow all of the instructions provided at http://www.dvselectee.state.gov to prepare for your interview. It is very important that you follow the instructions carefully and completely. The Diversity Lottery Fee for each applicant and each member of the family must be paid in full at the Consulate or Embassy at the time of your interview. There is only one fee and you should only make a payment at the Embassy or Consulate when instructed to do so at the time of your interview. The fee is non-refundable, even if the visa is refused for any reason.”
So if after reading this, you choose to go through the interview process then it means that you have acknowledged and accepted the terms and conditions. You know there is still a chance of getting denied, both at the interview and after the interview (immediate denial, AP or refusal by the CBP at the POE) and all these cases can be experienced post payment so you cannot sue or ask for a refund if you’ve willingly took this risk… No need to attack Simon either… He doesn’t make the rules so you’re barking up the wrong tree, mate.
If you didn’t know before, you do now so case closed.
May 10, 2018 at 16:00
is there any signal that vb touch 7000 for Nepal?
May 10, 2018 at 17:06
Nepal has no numbers over 7000!
May 10, 2018 at 17:55
Does that mean the VB will surely reach7000 ffor suree? And can we knw how many visa has been granted from Nepal in dv 2018.
May 10, 2018 at 18:07
No it does not mean that.
Issuance Data is here: https://dvcharts.xarthisius.xyz/ceacFY18.html
May 10, 2018 at 16:01
Improvement suggestion for this blog – add a link to “Save me from suicide” webpage for those of us with high EU case numbers…
PS: EU334xx
May 10, 2018 at 16:09
Same feelings (281xx)
May 10, 2018 at 16:15
we all european are in grief mood.
what to say? When I was choosen last year I checked historical datas and I said my number EU 25xxx would be in february – march – april. I do not now why I treated that like something certain. I WAS STUPID.
That is the worst year for europe since 2005DV. Also 2000 was bad but 2018 might be the worst year in entire DV history for EU (because +43k winners and 22-23k cases interviewed)
May 10, 2018 at 16:58
Worst in the sense of the number they get to – yes – but if they fill the quota, that means a job well done.
May 11, 2018 at 17:25
Do you think they will get to EU23900 by September? I am currently working full time in a satisfying office job but I have to decide between getting a promotion in another EU country or wait it out for my visa to become current and go work for a NY employer (at better job than the promotion) who has extended to me an offer of employment and wants me to start sometime in September but can accommodate me if my interview is in September to have a later starting date.
Brit, I don’t know you and I’m not going to hold anything against you I swear, but does my number merit any more attention? Am I being crazy? Is it impatience kicking in? I feel like 2,000 more cases available over the next two VB is not unrealistic but I want a second opinion to check my confirmation bias!
May 11, 2018 at 17:27
Everything is possible for you. I think it’s 50/50 !
May 11, 2018 at 17:54
https://britsimonsays.com/dv2018-ground-rush/
May 10, 2018 at 16:26
Haha, right. Or, let’s create a Facebook group to organize a collective suicide. 😉
May 10, 2018 at 17:06
🙁
May 10, 2018 at 17:25
You are in Europe and you’re talking of suicide, what would those of us who are in Africa which is far poorer than Europe say?.
May 10, 2018 at 17:43
Some countries in dvlottery assigned EU region (e.g. Ukraine, Albania, Uzbekistan, etc.) are in pretty bad shape, just like most of African countries
May 10, 2018 at 23:00
It still doesn’t mean people should be talking about suicide that lightly.
May 10, 2018 at 16:10
Hi Brit
I just saw for AF 38,000 that’s a good news for Africa. My case # is AF29XXX I have not received any 2NL yet for my interview. Do you think I’m going to receive it?
May 10, 2018 at 16:15
My case # AF29xxx is it possible to receive my 2NL for July?
May 10, 2018 at 16:57
Read above.
May 10, 2018 at 16:27
Hey brit
First of all thank you very much for all your help and support, you are really a big part of this emotional roller coaster for all of us.
I have just a quick clarification straight forward question: for July cut off numbers, we can send our aos packages as from now right? No need to wait for June. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Thank you very much
May 10, 2018 at 16:55
You can, but make sure you follow the tips to avoid rejection for early submission.
May 10, 2018 at 16:30
Simon i dont know english well, please only tell me that i could hope or not? my case is AS 108***
REPLY
May 10, 2018 at 16:53
Hope.
May 10, 2018 at 16:41
Simon, was this AF jump expected? I am EU winner (CN267**) and I know that my chances are not great, but is it possible to see big jump in EU region in last two months? When I say big jump, I dont mean 10000 like in AF, but 4-5000 or do you think that that is imposible?
May 10, 2018 at 16:48
The AF jump is not a surprise, density is low and there are many unused visas. But conditions for EU are different, density is now low but the remaining visas are low too because issuance pace has been high. So – unless they increase the quota, there is no need for BIG jumps in EU.
May 10, 2018 at 16:49
hello Brit, hope you are good.. please guys…please read and reread his post before you pose a question to him.. the answers you seek are in his post.
May 10, 2018 at 16:52
Hi Brit,
Do you think that CN EU25xxx will have the chance to receive the 2NL ?
Which case number will be tha latest for EU visa interviews?
Thanks
May 10, 2018 at 17:14

Hi Brit,
Reminder;
What is the chance of EU 287XX ?
Regards,
Mic
May 10, 2018 at 17:48
Why are you reminding me? You have asked that – I have answered.
May 10, 2018 at 18:03
When i have asked it, this bulletin hadn’t been published, therefore you were not aware of last pace. I’m sensing a little hostility here. You might have offended due to my previous comments. Have you offended?
May 10, 2018 at 18:09
Not offended or hostile at all. Just surprised that you think my answer would be any different.
May 10, 2018 at 18:28
If you don’t have any comment according to each bulletin, why do people ask your analysis right after of montly bulletin? You could have made your prediction with the first bulletin and said people that “My comment will not be changed according the paces during 12 months?” -Any sense? – Yours is obviously a kind of hostility against me. – Could you please say something worthwile?
May 10, 2018 at 18:42
Have you seen me answering other EU people in your range any differently? Have you EVER seen me answer anyone with a percentage guess (other than 0% or 100%) as you asked? Have you read any of my explanations of why the final number cannot be predicted? Have you seen me copy and paste the following answer about 10 times in the last couple of hours?
“Really – I don’t know. There are 2 VBs left. Wait and see.”

Hi Brit
Do you think OC13xx Is still safe?
May 10, 2018 at 18:10
Yes
May 10, 2018 at 18:18
Hello Brit. I have two questions: once you said, that they only made 1070 to 1200 new real cases each month. So how thats happened, that for around new 1100 cases the numbers are increased ONLY for 1600 ?? Are density so big ?? And the second question: do you rememeber a year (any year), when EU’s VB did not increased in September ? Is it possible, is it ever happened ?
May 10, 2018 at 18:33
1. Between 20300 and 21900 there are 656 real cases. They reduced pace.
2. Yes it is possible for any region. DV2014 was the last time for EU.
May 10, 2018 at 18:52
Wow. So any ideas why they did it ?? (In my opinion its because of AP cases). Do you have any ideas why they reduced the pace TWICE (any opinion), or you are as astonished as we are ?? 🙂 P. S. Thank you VERY much for your work, Brit.

The pace of visas being issued in EU remains high. For some time now I have been nervous about the lower than normal issued numbers in Uzbekistan. I suspect that they are using the new security measures (DS-5535) in some of those countries, so “some” of the issuances are from cases already interviewed, just waiting for the 5535 processing. It’s not clear whether they have consistently marked those cases as AP or whether there are READY cases that appeared as no shows, but actually then became issued. Further, some of the new “BIG countries” are doing well in terms of approval and seem to have quite high derivative rates. So – this year is behaving differently to previous years because the distribution of selectees is very different.
Anyway – unless the quota is increased, current pace of issuances suggests they can meet the targets with low number of new interviews.

HI Brit ..
I have a question if you don’t mind..
My bulletin number is AS9000 ..That’s mean my visa interview will be in july as reveled by the visa bulletin..
The problem is that I checked my case status on CEAC .. and it says that the case is at NVC…
Is that means my interview will , or could be in August.. or it will be in july??
May 10, 2018 at 18:42
