People have started receiving their 2NLs for May 2017 interviews. It will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
For those that received their interview notice, now is the time to start preparing for the interview. Gathering documents, scheduling the medical and so on. To learn how to prepare please view my guide on preparing for the interview.
If you have received your 2NL – please take a moment to reply to this post and add your region/case number range PLUS the date of submission and whether you unlocked at any point. This helps me gauge the backlog and DS260 processing times. Whilst cases are mostly current, the date of DS260 submission will mean that some cases will not be scheduled for May interviews, and will wait until a later month. The progress in DS260 submissions was not as fast as I expected last month, so I am keen to see where we have got to.
**** Update ****
It seems like most DS260 submissions in up to November have made it into the May interviews. There are even a few December cases – so that represents very good progress…

Hi brit, hope u will be very well, would u please tell me about dvlottery 2018 result.
April 5, 2017 at 13:49
It will be published in May.
April 5, 2017 at 09:27
Good morning Simon,
It’s my first time to write a question here…
I completed the DS 260 on behalf of my cousin on 21st November 2016, with the Case Number 2017AF00010***, I haven’t got the 2NL…How could it be? Did I miss any thing or is it a problem??
April 5, 2017 at 13:48
You submitted your DS260 late so that has caused a delay. You might get a June interview.
April 5, 2017 at 09:36
Hi Brit, I have been current since February but I have not receive my 2nl yet. I call kcc, the lady told me that my case is processing, I don’t know what that mean, but looking at my case where i submitted on December 6, n unlock January 7,resubmitted January 9.case number 2017af27xxx. Is it possible for me to get 2nl this coming June.
April 5, 2017 at 13:47
You submitted your DS260 late so that has caused a delay. You might get a June interview.
April 5, 2017 at 09:59
Hello Brit,
Our interview is on the 2Nd of May 2017 and we are yet to get our form I-134 from our sponsor.
Is it okay for it to be sent through e-mail or should it be sent by mail.
We are really thinking about the cost and time.
Thanks.
April 5, 2017 at 13:46
Mail.
April 5, 2017 at 10:38
I read the Ds-260, they ask for full name, my full name in my passport like the following (surname, father’s name, Grandfather’s name, and family name), in my passport the father’s name and grandfather’s name are written in abbreviation(one letter for each).
what I did that I had written my name like this ((surname, father’s name, Grandfather’s name, and family name), will this cause a problem to me ?
April 5, 2017 at 10:52
sorry I mean I wrote in the application ((surname, father’s name, and family name) forgive me I’m very confused
April 5, 2017 at 13:43
I can’t predict whether that will cause a problem – it depends on local standards, documents and so on.
April 5, 2017 at 14:12
Dear Simon, I have sent a question three hours ago but I cant find it here! I guess something wrong with my computer or the network here, I’m going to ask you again and I’m really sorry for this inconvenience
what happened that I submitted the my Ds-260 and never unlock it, when I fill the name I wrote like this :
Name:my personal name
Middle name: Father’s name
Surname : my family name>
Now in my passport there are four names (name, father’s name, Grandfather’s name, family name). May the absence of the grandfather’s name in the application cause a problem ? How can I fix it?
Thanks in advance, and again sorry if you find the question duplicated.

Hello Simon , thanks for all your help and assistance . I have my interview scheduled for May 7th. I just go to know my friend who I used his address in US for the green card in my DS 260 is moving to a new place on mid June. Would you kindly advise if I need to unlock now which i feel it would be risky or should i leave it for later. Thanks and regards
April 5, 2017 at 17:34
You can’t unlock now. So you will update the address later (at interview or at POE)
April 5, 2017 at 18:14
Thanks a lot man. There is something in my mind and i think so many would be the same thinking if there is a way to show some appreciation for all your helps and supports. For now all I can say is god bless you and your loved ones.
April 5, 2017 at 17:12
Dear Mr. Simon,
My case no. Is 24*** from egypt and waiting for comming VB( expecting my interview in June), i want to change my interview location from (Riyadh / Saudi Arabia) to (Cairo / Egypt)
Please, is that can affect or delay my interview date??
Thanks
April 5, 2017 at 17:26
The best way to do that is before the interview is scheduled. So do it NOW.
April 6, 2017 at 01:32
Hi BritSimon, Firstly, thank you for your all your wonderful effort in maintaining this site – it has been a fantastic source of information. My husband and I submitted our DS-260 on 3 Nov 2016 and it has now been processed and is locked (I checked with KCC). We haven’t received our 2NL and our case number is 2017OC000013XX. So we are current for May interviews. Based on your information I feel like we should receive the 2NL any day now?
April 6, 2017 at 05:47
Probably JUne interview (2NL in 3 to 4 weeks.
April 6, 2017 at 06:15
Dear Britsimon
My interview will took place by 2nd May – my sponsor already prepared my Affidavit of support and he is ready to send it to me by Mail this week .
I received the below from the embassy as part of the notification of the interview E-mail and i get confused
1) Dose my sponsor have to go with the below process or he have to send it to by Mail ?
2) dose he need to submit 3 from of affidavit for each of my family member (me , my spouse and child ) or only one covering all of us ?
The U.S. Embassy is no longer accepts locally-filed I-130 petitions for alien relatives. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that overseas petitioners will be required to file Form I-130 Petition for alien relatives by mail with a USCIS domestic lockbox unless the petitioner lives in a country with a USCIS office. Since there is no USCIS office For further information, please visit the following link: http://www.uscis.gov/i-130. A petitioner seeking to file a Form I-130 at an Embassy or Consulate where USCIS does not have a presence should contact the Consular Section to request consideration for an exception and explain the circumstances in detail. We can accept locally-filed I-130 petitions only for the following cases:
1. Active-duty U.S. military members stationed in the XXX
2. Immediate family members of U.S. citizens (spouse, parent, unmarried children under age 21) who are citizens of Syria or Libya.
3. Exceptional or humanitarian circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) :
1- Where can I file an immigrant visa petition?
All petitions must be filed in the United States with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). USCIS sends approved petitions to the State Department’s National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC will contact the petitioner when the case is ready to be processed and will request documents in preparation for the visa interview. The NVC will then schedule the visa interview, mail an appointment letter, and forward the file to the Consular Section. For further details, you may visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-130).

Thanks

April 6, 2017 at 15:34
My appointment was set for May 2, 2017. I have a problem with my license.
Indeed I was enrolled in 3rd year of Bachelor (French License). In the absence of financial means I have not yet recovered my diploma and annual transcript; Nevertheless I passed with success this academic year.
What should I do?
April 6, 2017 at 16:56
Depending on your education system and the embassy, the education requirement may have been met prior to the Bachelors. So – consider that option.
April 7, 2017 at 13:53
Is what I have to report to the embassy that I have not yet recover my license (B.A.)?
April 7, 2017 at 14:03
I don’t understand. What I am saying is that your High school education may be enough.
April 7, 2017 at 21:38
Sorry Brit!
I say it because I reported in the DS260 that I have the license… So I told myself that I should have all the documents declared on the day of the interview.
Thk u!
April 7, 2017 at 23:02
OK – it doesn’t really matter – you can explain if asked.
April 6, 2017 at 16:25
Dear Brit,
1-I’m collecting my documents and facing some issues regarding the I-134 form, and i have the following questions:
2- My sponsor made $ 20,000 last year and he is the father of two kids plus his wife, we are also 4 people , so total of 8, according to poverty guidelines for 2017, he should be making over $ 41,320. his wife made $ 40,000 last year, the question is: can they collectively (him and his wife) sponsor me and my family?
3- another cousin of mine is willing to sponsor but he already submitted the same for for another case, he made $90,000 last year and have a family of 7, can he sponsor two cases?
4-If i don’t succeed to secure the required sponsor, can I show a bank statement with a cash over around $ 35,000, if the cash works, how much should i show?
5-We have assets ( two apartments worth around $ 200,000 and two cars worth around $45,000-$ 50,000) but they are registered under my wife’s name ( she is the owner) and I’m the principle applicant, will this help?
all my documents are ready and pending this sponsor issue!
Thank you for help and best regards,
Sam
April 6, 2017 at 16:54
2. Yes
3. Financially he is a better sponsor but the other sponsorship represents a risk. So – it’s up to you.
4. That might be considered enough. An I-134 is better.
5. No. They want to see liquid assets.
April 6, 2017 at 17:09
Thank you for your prompt reply.
If I choose point 2 above ( to be sponsored by two collectively) shall each one fill a separate form?
Regards,
Sam
April 6, 2017 at 20:29
No. One form with joint income shown.
April 7, 2017 at 10:19
Thank you Brit!
So to be clear for me and my sponsor; he has to fill his name only as a sponsor and show the joint income? Where shall he mention his wife’s name as a co- sponsor?
Thank you
April 7, 2017 at 14:11
He lists HOUSEHOLD income.
April 7, 2017 at 14:11
Read the I-134.
April 7, 2017 at 23:43
Hello, so my brother sent the I-134 with his name as the sponsor and his income amount in the form, but included w2’s, tax 1040 2016 , and paychecks from him and his wife. Will that be ok? Or should we update the income amount to include his wife’s as well? Thank you!
April 8, 2017 at 01:01
If the income for the main earner is low – it might need both on the I-134.
April 8, 2017 at 02:28
What would be considered low?
April 8, 2017 at 04:49
$1 below the poverty guideline for the number of people.
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
April 12, 2017 at 14:09
Hello again, ok, so my brother will be including his and his wife’s net income which matches what is on the 1040 2016 tax document. In the employment information part of the I-134 form my brother listed his title and employer, and current employer address. Does my sister-in-law have to list hers too (there is not space on the form for this)? or is it ok to just include both salaries and have the supporting documentation attached for both of them (pay stubs, W2’s, 1040)
April 13, 2017 at 02:38
The form is very simple. Use some common sense.
April 13, 2017 at 03:01
Just want to ensure we complete it accurately. The form only asks for the sponsor’s employment and if joint income is reported just making sure it is ok.
April 6, 2017 at 20:51
Hi Simon
Thank you so much for the great help you are providing for thousands of people in need to such support.
I’ve received my 2NL in which the interview was set on the middle of May 2017, however my name (as principal selectee) and other beneficiaries names are correct; came as I’ve written in the initial DV entrance and as were written in the DS260 except my son’s middle and family names, unfortunately. In contrast, tow mistakes were made by the sender of the 2NL: the first one was his grandfather’s name was written as a middle name instead of father’s name, the second one was a spelling mistake to his family name in which just one extra letter was added.
Of course this not my mistakes, however, few questions arises:
1- Do you think that this could be a problem?
2- If yes, should I write to KCC about?
3- Do I need to send a note to the embassy, talk about during the interview, or I should turn a blind eyes considering that further processing of the visa will entirely be based on the information on the DS260 (which was exactly as in his passport)?
Thanks
April 6, 2017 at 21:14
Just as a point of clarification, the eDV are DS260 are electronic data systems. No one is re-typing names and addresses onto the 2NLs. If there is a mistake on the name it is because it was wrong on the eDV.
However, given that this is about a derivative – it is not a problem. So – answers are:
1. No
2. No
3. No
April 6, 2017 at 22:20
Hi simon. Just wanted to know if we are requared to pay the fee for the Affidavit of support review (only when reviewed domestically). If so do we do it during interview? Thanks
April 6, 2017 at 22:58
No there is no fee – that fee is NOT paid for the I-134 – it relates to the I-864
April 6, 2017 at 23:05
Hello Simon,
Thank you so much for all the valuable info you present here
We submitted DS260 on 31 MAY 2016 then unlocked & resubmitted on 30 DEC 2016
Case 2017AS00007*** we received 2NL on March 28, 2017 for interview on May, 16 2017
Will be there any danger to ask for reschedule to June 15, 2017, as our son is a college student abroad & will not be able to attend the interview before that date.
Thanks & Regards,
April 6, 2017 at 23:16
The “danger” is that the embassy may not re-schedule to your ideal date, and may actually set the date very late in the fiscal year. In that case there is less time in case you need AP. So – it’s your decision.
April 7, 2017 at 13:23
Thank your Simon for your reply,
The embassy is asking us to choose the date starting from 26 April, but what suits us is after 16 June & probably they will accept, our concern is that date would be late & they are running out of DV visas for ASIA 2017 – embassy do not have information regarding visa availability at that data. Where can we seek this information?
Thanks again.
April 7, 2017 at 14:07
Nowhere. THat information doesn’t exist. However, AS region is unlikely to run out of visas.
April 7, 2017 at 04:16
Hello Simon,
Thank you so much for all the info you present here
my question is after interview we check the status it was administration process written in the fires one in the case, then when we check again after one day we found that administration process written for tow of us in the case, I mean for first and second one in the case .
what that mean? because as I know the administrated process for require document is often written for the main lottery winner only.
April 7, 2017 at 05:42
Derivatives can require AP too.
May 18, 2017 at 15:38
Dear brit. I am and administrative procesa for 18 days all 4 derivativea that is my wife and three children are in a ready status. Is that normal? Noting that my case is approved and i was not given reason for administrative process. So is it possible to be an administrative process for that perioud with out notice…. thanks
May 18, 2017 at 18:45
Yes – that is all possible.
May 18, 2017 at 18:46
That is all possible – patience.
April 7, 2017 at 14:35
Hi! It’s me again.
If my visa is aproved, the fiscal year 2017 close on Sep 30? which means that I should travel before that date?
Thanks for your answer.
April 7, 2017 at 14:36
No, the date of entry can be after Sept 30, but must be within the expiry date of the visa (which is medical date plus 6 months).
April 7, 2017 at 16:02
Hi Brits, am I eligible to join the Diversity visa program 2018 with a 3 year education diploma for immigrants from Denmark.
The requirements which, I had to complete to get this diploma were these:
I had to meet a number of admission requirements.
● You must be at least 18 years.
● You must have gone to School 12 years.
● You must have a medium or long-Schools and educational background.
You see, I am a mother of 4 and have lived i denmark for 10-15 years
And I am from Africa specifically From Congo .
I have lost my high school diploma, and all the documents from elementary school, during my time moving to denmark, due to refugee camps and living on the streets of Africa, so therefor unfortunately I had to repeat my schooling in denmark, in order for me to be able, to get a job.So far, I haven’t been able to get any important work, other then small work here and there.
This diploma took me 3 years to get and in denmark, I can go to university with it if I would like. but I DONT KNOW if it counts as a 12 years high school in The United states of America. But my children of 17,18,and 20, the all have high school diplomas from denmark.
by the way I have already signed up for DV2018.
This is the page that i got my diploma From:
http://www.studieskolen.dk/en/Dansk-for-udlaendinge/enrolment/admission-requirements
April 7, 2017 at 17:18
Generally, the lottery education is based on formal courses of education from elementary to secondary education. It therefore excludes “make up” type programs to get to that level. However, this is only worth worrying about if you are actually selected – and the chance of selection is very low (about 1 in 200 for Africa).
April 7, 2017 at 17:23
Hi Simon,
I received the 2nls and my interview scheduled on 8 May at US embassy Ankara, Turkey.
I heard from some guys that we need to mail our documents to the embassy, 2 weeks prior to our interview date! Do you have any informations about that?
Thanks
April 7, 2017 at 18:01
The embassy will give you direction on that in good time. Have your documents prepared and ready.
April 8, 2017 at 19:34
Thank you
April 7, 2017 at 20:50
Dear Simon, sorry for inconvenience again but I need your help. As i mentioned before am Iranian living in UAE for 7 years now. I was going to go to Iran to get the police certificate but all of my friends went previous years say the US embassy doesn’t rely on Iran police certificate and they never asked for it from them .Also i have found this information for Iranian police report in this link. I appreciate if you have a look at it since it is not long and advise if Imy uderstanding that i don’t need that report from Iran is righy. Thanks so very muchhttps://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country/IR.html
April 7, 2017 at 20:51
https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country/IR.html
April 7, 2017 at 20:56
So sorry I realised the link doesn’t take you to that part i meant because you need to press police certificate tab on the left. I coppied the text to make it easier:
Police, Court, Prison Records
Police Records
Available but unreliable. Police certificates are issued by the General Department of Penal Records and Pardon Amnesty (Idar-e Kul Sajl-e Kifari va Afva Bakhshudagi ). However, police records are not required for immigrant visa applicants because posts cannot verify them. Clean record certificates can be obtained in Iran or from Iranian Embassies and Consulates and the physical appearance of the certificate changes significantly depending on which authority issued it.
Prison Records
Unavailable.
April 7, 2017 at 23:03
Yes it is correct that you are not expected to have a police cert from Iran ion your case.
April 7, 2017 at 23:06
Thanks a lot Simon.
April 8, 2017 at 12:14
Hi Simon
If I lived before in UK and I have the UK driving license can I drive in usa with this? Or I need to change it back in the romanian driving license?
Thanks a lot
April 8, 2017 at 13:42
You can use whichever license is current as a visitor. Once you have settled somewhere though you will need to obtain a state issued drivers license (in California for instance you are required to do that within 10 days)
April 8, 2017 at 16:51
I want to thank brits and all the members here. Thank you. I attended my interview at Accra embassy I had the visa.
I will also wish prospective interviewers all the best, vstay calm, confident and maintain consistency with what is on the ds 260 form and what you say.
April 8, 2017 at 17:06
“maintaining consistency” is easy when you tell the truth…
April 9, 2017 at 05:38
I submitted the DS-260 end of February. Would you say it’s more likely that I receive the 2NL this month (June interview) or in May (July interview)? Thank you!
April 9, 2017 at 05:53
I don’t want to spoil the surprise….
April 9, 2017 at 21:36
Dear Master
I have a suggestion for you.
Please provide some material for the people who get visa or even enter States . Simply i mean after Greencard .
I know you have some articles but i think it’s not enough .
If you don’t feed those people very easily you will lose hundreds of people every year ( against their intentions because they want to visit your homepage but frankly nothing new for them ).
Life after Greencard also is enough diffict and people need advise.
April 9, 2017 at 22:38

April 10, 2017 at 08:25
Hi Brit,
I submitted my DS260 at end of Oct and received my 2NL at beginning of April for interview at end of May. My case number is at the low of the AF (42xx).
I have prepared all the paperwork needed however, I need to double check do I need I-134 form ? | it only says this is needed for family based visa,
I prepared bank statements with 50k+ USD for a family of 3 (myself, wife & 1x Child). Would that be enough or do I still need to get I-134 form? if that’s the case? how long does it usually take to get it?
April 10, 2017 at 08:42
Hi Again,
I double checked the pre-interview check list for the embassy I am interviewing in (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia). It actually doesn’t say anything about bank statements or I-134 form. I prepared the bank statements regardless just to be on the safe side but
1)Do I still need I-134?
2)Should I email the embassy just to be sure??
It only mentions in case of family based visa, you need I-864 which I don’t think is the case for DV Visas. Am I Right?
April 10, 2017 at 13:44
1. It is common in Riyadh to be asked about finances. An I-134 or savings are the correct response.
2. Up to you – but they usually reply that it is up to the CO.
April 11, 2017 at 16:09
I contacted the embassy and their reply is inline with what you said, “case assessment is per CO and they do not discuss cases before interview dates”.
thanks for your answer. you are of great help and support.
April 11, 2017 at 18:21
I would have been surprised if their answer had been anything else! 🙂
April 10, 2017 at 11:37
hello brit
i have completed my year 12 education which is requirement for DV applicant but i have passed by giving back paper and after that i have not joined further studies will that be problem sir.
April 10, 2017 at 13:39
I don’t know
April 22, 2017 at 03:57
Where are you from?
April 10, 2017 at 12:37
Hi dear Brit,
thanks for the great help to all DV winners
i have two question please.
1. i don’t have a sponsor in the USA, can i provide a bank statement with considerable amount of money in my bank account?
2. what is the minimum amount in US dollars for a family consist of four members?
Thanks
April 10, 2017 at 13:35
1. Nost embassies would accept that.
2. $25,000 to $30,000
April 10, 2017 at 15:22
i will be in US embassy in Riyadh, will they accept it?
April 10, 2017 at 16:01
I cannot be certain how an embassy or CO will judge a particular case.

No need to do anything – just attend your interview.
April 11, 2017 at 07:18
Hi Simon
I have been confirmed my interview in Sydney, now I have a email regarding this web page https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/, when I go log in I select the Immigrant “Visa type” and put my details in, it only has two options 1. K1 – Fiance or Fiancee of U.S. Citizen 2. K2 – Child of K-1…
If you could help on what to do it would be great.
Thanks
April 11, 2017 at 14:37
I have no idea – try different methods, and if not – contact the firm or the embassy.
April 11, 2017 at 16:07
Hi Bob, I had a similar situation with my interview. I contacted the embassy (not Sydney) just to be safe and they told me that the appointment is confirmed and I don’t need to register from the website. Passport & package Pickuplocation & money will be paid at the interview date.
If you want, you can contact urs.

hi Brit.. i trust you are doing good.. what does permanent ineligibility means.. and on what grounds can one waive. even though we entered as married, the CO claims it is a sham marriage, thereby barring the derivative and with no bar on the main application..
April 11, 2017 at 12:49
hi Brit.. i trust you are doing good.. what does permanent ineligibility means.. and on what grounds can one waive. even though we entered as married, the CO claims it is a sham marriage, thereby barring the derivative and with no bar on the main applicant. She claims the applicant is helping someone to get green card and also says the main applicant does not qualify educationally. meanwhile she has her sigh school certificate (WASSCE) with all grades passed .. wow.. what do you think Brit
April 11, 2017 at 14:10
What it means is that the case is denied and those people (applicant and the derivative) will probably never be approved to go to America. It really is a bad idea to lie to the embassy.
April 14, 2017 at 20:00
nobody lied Brit. Our interview was seperated and It seems some of the answers did not match.. expecially my wife forgot my bankers and said different thing.. so in the actual sense nobody lied…. that was a harsh decision on the part of the CO .. how can we waive this bar Brit
April 14, 2017 at 20:25
Well the embassy decided there was some sort of attempt of fraud. I wasn’t there, so I can’t say whether that was justified or not. However, considering the main applicant did not meet the education requirement, the point seems moot as the DV application cannot be approved. So – this case cannot be fixed for this DV process. If you are asking about a waiver for a future visa application – any application for a waiver would be reviewed by the same people that decided the apply the bar. So – it seems that would be hard to achieve.
April 11, 2017 at 19:08
Hello Brit, our (IV) interview was on 04th, April 2017. After the interview the CO produced a yellow sheet of paper and said we will be contacted for further instructions. Friday I emailed the embassy to inquire about a certain document. They replied regarding the document and went on to say we will be contacted for a follow up interview. Question. Has anyone gone for a follow up interview before? I don’t understand what that means as I have never heard of someone who went for a second interview.
April 12, 2017 at 03:51
Yes it has happened before. I can’t predict what it means.
April 13, 2017 at 12:54
I just from the embassy, I’m dv winner; they put me under non-immigrant visa section 212 (a), what does that mean?
April 13, 2017 at 13:18
Well, they would have listed the reason as more than 212 (a) – what is the full code? 212 (a) is about ineligibilities – so they either refused you for one of the reasons – OR they found reason to give you a waiver for one of the reasons. So – did they keep your passport or return it to you. What ELSE did they say??
April 13, 2017 at 13:28
They return it back to me
April 13, 2017 at 13:39
So they told you that you were denied. They probably told you the reason too. But you are telling me very little and I am not a mind reader, so I cannot explain any further.
April 13, 2017 at 13:54
This is the full code: Section 212 (a) be and section 212 (a) (6)(c)(i) for misrepresentation.
Please what is the meaning of this?
Does this mean that I will not Aply for DV next year?
April 13, 2017 at 14:27
It means you misrepresented (lied willfully) in some part of the process. They might have banned you for life – I don’t know – but presumably you know what YOU did!!
April 13, 2017 at 15:05
I never lied, there was mis photo on my original entry during the play, meaning maybe that one same name save on two pictures appear on two information and I was successful selected but not my photo. I got surprised by seeing different photo I don’t even know on my information. I try to explain it to CO but she could not listen to my explanation.
Do u really mean that I’m banned for life?
April 13, 2017 at 19:04
OK – so presenting the photo twice is a “lie”. You can explain it as a mistake – but ultimately it is the same thing as a lie – and you were in control of the photo chosen to upload. So – the denial was correct.
Will it lead to a lifetime ban – no – now knowing the circumstances (after you gave me the information bit by bit), I very much doubt this would lead to any type of ban. So – you can apply again – just be very careful!
April 13, 2017 at 20:44
Simon what is that the gentleman was asking about pictures? The picture that was uploaded when you first entered the lottery is the picture that is taken on the interview? Dont you get two new photos to take with you on the interview along with the four that is left with the doctor? Please clarify sir. Thanks
April 13, 2017 at 20:49
Sorry ignore question I found the answer

April 18, 2017 at 08:44
Dear Brit
I had an interview on April 9th . On the interview the co needed to check the date I left the us but his system was down. So he told me we will be on AP .
Till now when I check the case online it says ready. So I wonder if this normal or should I contact the embassy?
April 18, 2017 at 13:47
That is pretty normal. Just wait.
April 18, 2017 at 09:02
Hello Brit. .. I am a Sri Lankan and I have studied in the UK. I have high school certificates which is equivalent to GCE O/Levels and A/Levels but Im not too sure if its enough and if they count the equivalency.. I am finishing my degree in may this year but in the dv application I said that I have finished up to high school only (which im not sure they will accept the equivalency)… so now I thought of going through the degree path.. If I get selected can I put that I have got a degree in the coming application forms or stick to the high school certificate??
April 18, 2017 at 13:46
If you get selected you tell them what you have achieved by then. But don’t worry about any of this until you are selected. It’s a lottery.
April 18, 2017 at 09:28
Hi Simon,
I have a few questions
1. I have an interview date and time, do I need to call the local embassy to confirm that ill be attending?
2. Is it a must to have a i-314? Please tell me how it works
Please let me know
Thanks
Radi
April 18, 2017 at 13:45
1. Some embassies ask you to confirm the appointment through a courier. The embassy tells you what to do. If not, you don’t do anything other than show up on the day booked.

April 20, 2017 at 13:27
Hi there!
I’m have been thinking and I know that you explain this in other article but i want to know: what happens If I marry before my interview?
My interview is on may 11, Is this a foult? Can deny me the visa?
Thanks a lot.
April 20, 2017 at 14:55
If you are in a REAL relationship – then why have you not married earlier. Marrying now will create complications.
April 20, 2017 at 14:59
It is real but we don´t marry early because I had afraid change my status before the date of the interview… I have a mistake 🙁 is so late to do it?
April 20, 2017 at 16:23
It may cause complication/delay. However, if the relationship is real – that won’t bother you. So – if you want to do that – contact the embassy and ask how.
April 21, 2017 at 15:16
Hi Sir,
Just wondering, if i misspelt my fathers name by one letter on my ds260 form would that be a problem on my interview? For instance I put Ormond instead Armond. Could that be an issue?
April 22, 2017 at 00:15
Normally no problem.
April 22, 2017 at 01:08
Thanks for your advise. It is a 7 years real relationship, and we have proves about it. We couldn’t get marry before because we were so young and later was afraid to change my civil status. We go to try get marry next week.
The embassy answered me today and they told me that I just should send by email a copy of the bibliography sheet on his passport and a copy of the marry certificate and then we will can acces to ds-260 form of my husband. Other person here in Venezuela told me that this don´t change the date of the interview but i do the question to the embassy this afternoon too.
I hope that all will be ok
thnks for all.
April 20, 2017 at 15:48
Good day, Simon. Hope you are doing well. I am a selectee for EU region and my interview is in May. I passed medicals and prepared all doxuments, except certified document translations. When everything is ready, do I have to notarize them and send them to US embassy in Montreal?
Their web site doesn’t indicate that documents Must be sent prior to interview?
Thank You!
April 20, 2017 at 16:20
Only a very few embassies ask for documents in advance. If that is what they want – they will instruct you..
April 21, 2017 at 14:21
Hi Brits;
I am a DV 2017 selectee from Uganda CN 41*** . I was stuck with no idea of what to expect of the DV until I found this wonderful blog. Thank you for creating this blog. You are the most generous person I have ever met.
In April the VB for AF went current. Thought it meant a backlog and I had to wait longer for my CN to go current. But on reading your interpretation from this blog I submitted my DS260 mid April after doing same updates. I had initially submitted it in October 2016 and unlocked in December 2016 to wait to update my second bachelors which was awarded on 22 marh 2017 well confident my CN going current is far away while monitoring the VBs.
After reading your post of selectees receiving 2NL for may I became nervous. I was expecting my CN to go current for June but that didn’t happen. A few days ago I called KCC to inquire about my case. I was told my case has been processed and waiting fixing the appointment date.
I am expecting my CN to become officially current in July but with my application being submitted in mid April and a CN 41***. But I read a post of yours estimating the processing to take about 5 months. What are my chances and when should I expect the 2NL?
I had done my police certificate with the local Interpol in June 2016 while expecting an interview as soon though I have to do another and I have never moved out of the country. Hopefully that will speed up my case.
Thank you once again
April 22, 2017 at 00:19
The backlog is probably cleared now, so DS260 processing should be fast. But as for your 2NL – wait and see.
Get a new police cert.
April 22, 2017 at 04:19
Hello Simon;
With regard to your post above. Why are they making two consecutive months (May and June) “CURRENT” for all selectees of AF if a selectee of CN 41*** is not certain of a 2NL? I guess “CURRENT” for both May and June means any selectee in the affected region can be interviewed in that month. What does the term “CURRENT” actually mean? And what are the stacks/chances for those with high CNs?
You also talked of an extra draw where additional selectees were selected. I believe the CN number above is in the 1st draw. Doesn’t he have a higher priority above the added selectees in the 2rd draw?
Rgds
April 22, 2017 at 18:41
Current means all numbers (1st and 2nd draw) can be interviewed.
April 22, 2017 at 00:58
Hi big brother Britsimon,
We are a family of three from Africa. We submitted our ds260 in October 2016 and never unlocked, though our CN is current yet we haven’t been scheduled.
Question 1: Wanted to know if there is still hope on our side with a CN160**?
Question 2: If yes to question 1, which month do you think we could be scheduled.
Thanks.
April 22, 2017 at 18:43
1. Yes
2. Probably June interviews (2NLs in the next week)
