December 12, 2018 at 22:28
You asked this in early November, and I gave you a link which had the information. Why on earth did you not look at the link I sent then to avoid AP?

My case no is 21xx but still I ‘ didn’t get the email that tells me to attach my documents, so when this email reach to me?
December 12, 2018 at 22:33
I don’t know.
Your number is meaningless without the year/region.
December 13, 2018 at 00:39
Hi Brit
I actually read that.. and it was showing me mininmum of a family of 3 should have 20k usd and my host was having 23k usd so i dont know what was wrong in that
December 13, 2018 at 04:41
So you didn’t read it correctly. You must add your family number to the sponsors family number
December 13, 2018 at 04:55
Thanks brit
I now understand my mistake… im geting a joint sponsor by next week..thanks for ur information
December 13, 2018 at 12:39
It can’t be a joint sponsor. The new one must be the only one.
December 13, 2018 at 05:37
My year is 2019 and my region is Ethiopia so when the email that tells me to submit the documents will reach to me? Case no = AF 2019 21xx
December 13, 2018 at 12:41
1. Check your ESC page.
2. Send the documents.
December 12, 2018 at 20:56
Please can you advice:
1. I received the mail after submitting the original and translated documents to KCC and an expired passport (Which I obviously renew but right now I do not have) – message states Thank you for submitting Diversity Visa documents to the Kentucky Consular Center. Some of the documents listed below were either missing or illegible. What may be the cause? and if my passport can I proceed with an explanation that will update It later or if its because I’ve submitted the original and translated.
Documents required: Documents Required for All Applicants:
• Copy of passport biodata page (no translation required) OK (expired)
• Birth certificate OK
• Military records for any applicant who has previously served in the military – N/A
• Police certificates for applicants 16 years of age or older from all required countries – OK
• If you have been convicted of a crime, a certified copy of each court record and any prison record – N/A
December 12, 2018 at 22:34
I don’t know what you missed. Check everything carefully, and then check again with KCC.
December 12, 2018 at 20:59
Hi Simon,
I have seen that you are also active in the immigrant forum.
(Catched that randomly through one of your comments).
Would you like to update this on this site?
Like “Also follow/register”
https://forums.immigration.com/forums/lottery-visas-dv.119/
Just a suggestion.. 🙂
December 12, 2018 at 22:35
I don’t understand what you are suggesting.
December 12, 2018 at 23:41
Sorry, my fault.. 🙂
This site = Ask questions here
Below your text:
To ask me questions you can obviously post on any blog post.
“Or also see/register on the forum“
This could give you more time to concentrate on the blog.
(Other admins/successful candidates will answer too. I didn’t know, you are active there, before I’ve seen it in your comments..)
December 13, 2018 at 00:21
Ahhh I see. Well I promote the other website in terms of a place to ask questions. I don’t specifically call that out, but sometimes questions are posted in both places which is a bit of a waste of everone’s time. So I guess people can decide where they want to post.
December 12, 2018 at 22:04
Simon,
Thanks for answering my previous question. I have one more question. I have submitted DS260 for me and I answered YES to the question whether my husband is migrating with me. Both of us are in the US now. Do I have to fill another DS260 for him?.
Thanks in advance.
December 12, 2018 at 22:36
Probably. Are you doing adjustment of status?
December 12, 2018 at 22:46
Yes ,I am doing adjustment of status
December 13, 2018 at 00:28
So – I would personally recommend you file the DS260 for him. However, as you are doing AOS, that is not strictly essential. Make sure though that you are BOTH eligible to file AOS. There are rules that must be observed.
December 13, 2018 at 15:45
I will file for him too. Thank you
December 12, 2018 at 23:09
Hi brit. I have to delay my email with the documents for 12 days cause of a document tha takes time to have. Could that create any problem. My case number is eu13xxx. Probably i will ve current in march.
December 13, 2018 at 00:28
No problem.
December 13, 2018 at 11:07

December 13, 2018 at 12:43
Send an explanation of why the certificate is not available, perhaps a screenshot of the reciprocity page.
December 13, 2018 at 12:52
Hi,
I had my interview yesterday, and at the end of it the consul said my interview is complete without saying if it was approved or rejected. He said that I will be told what are my next steps at another window. At the other window the lady said everything is fine and that a visa will be issued and sent to me with my passport within 10 days.
My current working place asked me to visit the US for a few days in 3 weeks time, and then a longer visit of 2 months in February. When asking the lady at the embassy if I can already make plans for the trip she said that I better wait and that the arrival of the green card will take a longer time.
On your FAQ I now read that once I enter the US with the visa I become a permanent resident and can work even before receiving the green card.
I also read that although the visa is a single entry visa I can use it to freely enter and exit the US for 12 months.
My questions are:
1. Is there any problem working in the US on behalf of a non-US company after entering using the visa and before getting a green card and SSN?
2. Except for checking with the airline is there anything else I need to do before reentering the US in case I have not yet received the actual green card and only have the visa?
3. Is there a way to confirm that my interview was indeed successful? Trying to check the status under https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx with my 2019AS2XXX case number results in an Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number error, and when I called the KCC they said they can only see my interview date on their system but not the result.
Thanks
December 13, 2018 at 13:58
1. No
2. No, although I would assume you would have the SSN by then.
3. The statTracker site is only useful for DV2019 cases from January. There is no other site.
December 13, 2018 at 13:11
So according to the russian forum kcc has already sent letters up to number 144 ** (EU), lets take as an example case nr. EU14400 will be interviwed in March, so half a year. Considering the maximum number for EU apx 30000. Can it be concluded that everyone (all case numbers)will be invited in dv 19? or wait and see:)
December 13, 2018 at 13:54
No – that evidence would not be useful in supporting that conclusion.
January 27, 2019 at 11:17
Hello Rena, I also follow up with some Russian forums but there are many people with numbers lower than 14000 who have not received the letters from KCC even about sending the scanned documents, while some people with CN 22-23000 have already received the letter and submitted all the documents to KCC. So, I don’t think you can rely on these numbers
December 13, 2018 at 13:38
Hello Brit !!
Thanks for your help and guidance for my entire diversity visa program journey.
Today my question is;
Q. I recently pay my USCIS immigration fee (green card fee) via online through a authorized bank (Nepal Investment Bank) in Nepal. I am afraid they did some mistake on my full name. Can I review or edit my details what they submit in that form?
P.S. A-number and DOS Case ID are submitted correctly but I have my personal doubt on my full name as the system frequently shows others name while submitting the form. I also recieve an email from [email protected]
Please do reply ..
Thank you ?
December 13, 2018 at 13:53
You can log in to the Elis system to check the payment.
December 13, 2018 at 14:32
Hi Sandeep
Good to hear that you received the Visa. I am also from Nepal winner of DV2019 but still waiting for 2NL. Are you winner of DV2019 or DV2018? Did the embassy request for I-134? If you don’t mind, Could you please share your interview experience in my email [email protected]. Hope to hear from you. Best of luck. Regards.
December 13, 2018 at 22:27
Sending experiences to one person by email helps ONE person. Posting interview experiences here on the blog helps MORE than one person.
December 13, 2018 at 14:01
Dear brit sir my question is to add new born baby we need to ask kcc to unlock or we can directly add to ceac site as their is option to add derivatives also my case no AS 19xx current waiting for 2nl…
December 13, 2018 at 14:23
You need to unlock. Your own form needs to be updated as well as adding a ds260 for the child.
December 13, 2018 at 14:46
Dear Brit
DV-2019SA4XX My case is updated in the visa newsletter for interviews in January but my 2nl does not yet come in. I have a question.
My brother who is my sponsor has ready to send me the I-134 form if my possible interview could be in February and they request form I-134, there is no problem in presenting the form that my brother will send me.
Thank you.
December 13, 2018 at 22:27
No problem.
December 13, 2018 at 15:27
Hi Brit
I am scheduled for an interview in mid December but I have just recieved a call and email from the US emabssy in Algeirs to inform us that the date of my interview is reported to mid January does this report can affect my Iv Dv procedures ?
December 13, 2018 at 22:27
No – it’s just a delay.
December 13, 2018 at 16:00
January VB looks so static….hmmmmm no wonder the new proceedure
December 13, 2018 at 16:10
For February, immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to qualified DV-2019 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. When an allocation cut-off number is shown, visas are available only for applicants with DV regional lottery rank numbers BELOW the specified allocation cut-off number:
Region All DV Chargeability Areas Except
Those Listed Separately
AFRICA 13,800 Except: Egypt 9,500
ASIA 4,400 Except: Iran 3,400
Nepal 2,800
EUROPE 10,000
NORTH AMERICA (BAHAMAS) 12
OCEANIA 450
SOUTH AMERICA,
and the CARIBBEAN 625
December 13, 2018 at 16:30
Always thanking USA for this opportunity, the February Visa Bulletin adds only 1200 numbers for Europe.. It is getting slower with this new procedure.
Ok, let’s wait our turn 🙂
December 13, 2018 at 17:03
Hi Anto, Yes, procedure is slower but months in a year are always the same.. little intimidating, i hope for a significant rise in the next months. Good luck to us all 🙂
December 13, 2018 at 17:07
Visa bulletin process seems to be too slow in comparison to other years. but as Brit says ” will worrying help ?” lets wait and see
December 13, 2018 at 17:15
hi. for me this was predictable because of the high number of January currents cases that haven’t received their 2nls. theirs cases probably will be scheduled for February. we can expect a significant increase for the next visa bulletin.
December 13, 2018 at 18:51
hi sir, my case number is dv2019 2xx not yet sent my ds because my passport is due to expire in January 2019, is it necessary to notify the kcc the delay of sending my form ds
December 13, 2018 at 22:31
No.
December 13, 2018 at 19:01
Hello,
My visa cut off number is showing for January 2019 on the visa bullet in but till now there is no any scheduled appointment. Is that normal or do I need to do something?

Hi Simon I won the lottery last year 2018 and came to US October end when I enter to US I changed my address in POE last November first week me and my wife Green card received but my son green card was sent to old address in California unfortunately we don’t have any one California my cousin also moved to NY now I’m in Ny now I contact uscis they only change my sons address and they told me file I-90 for that when I checked fee for I-90 it’s $540 ? can’t afford that much money how can deal with this situation if anyone can help on this it’s was big help for me thanks!
December 13, 2018 at 22:32
I don’t have a solution. If you think it was the fault of USCIS, you can try and persuade them to replace the card for free. Other than that, you will just have to pay.
December 13, 2018 at 20:48
Hello Mr Brit
didn’t they publish Visa bulletin for February 2019? I can’t wait to see that!

December 14, 2018 at 00:15
Hi brit.how do you think this year will be same like 2018 or worst or better?
December 15, 2018 at 03:52
I don’t know.
December 14, 2018 at 06:34
Hello Simon!
I have a question, and can’t find an answer. Please have a look, maybe you know it.
I am the winner of DV2019, the visa is already issued. There was a child in the application, we assumed that he would not immigrate, we did not fill out his DS260, the child was not interviewed. Later the situation changed, it was decided that the child would also immigrate, the consul confirmed the possibility of the child getting a visa until September 2019.
At the moment, the child’s DS260 is filed, we are waiting for an appointment for him.
Questions: Can the main applicant enter the US before the child’s interview and “activate” his green card? Won’t that automatically change the status (the reunification process will be needed)? Does the main applicant need to wait for the child to get a visa and only then enter the US?
Thank you in advance!
December 15, 2018 at 03:58
Don’t do that, it will mess up the child’s visa and then require a 2 year sponsorship. Just wait, but do not let your visa expire .
December 14, 2018 at 09:20
Hi
I had a question ….I by mistake provided the wrong email address in my ds 260 form bt I also provided my alternative email…so I was wondering if any email regard my green card would come to both email or jst one email….my no# is current atm
December 15, 2018 at 04:01

December 15, 2018 at 04:39
Hi
So which one would it be the alternative one or the one I mentioned in the ds 260…cz I received my ds 260 frm the alternative one when I found out I dint received the ds 260….so I provided the alternative….
December 15, 2018 at 05:09
I don’t know.
December 14, 2018 at 11:39
Hello Brit I hope you are well.
1- I want my mailing address to be in NYC as it is the safest address to receive the GC and the address where I can reside at first in EE UU is in LA. Two different addresses, do you think it is going to be a problem?
2-The ds-260 system doesn’t allow me to interleave my permanent addresses in my country with a couple of internships I did abroad (2 months and a half in USA and 4 months long Switzerland) do I have to include them?
Thank you Brit! Un abrazo grande.
December 14, 2018 at 17:20

December 15, 2018 at 04:04
1. No.
2. Yes you can enter those addresses – BUT it sounds like they were actually just short trips – and in that case you don’t list them.
December 15, 2018 at 11:18
Thank you so much Brit. You play an important role in our lives!
You have a gift.
Saludos.

December 14, 2018 at 12:57
Hi Brit. When your visa is approved at interview but your passport is held what is given to you? Do you have a sample?
December 14, 2018 at 18:34
An approval sheet is given to u wit ur name on it and when to pick up ur visa packages.
December 15, 2018 at 04:06
Nothing.
December 14, 2018 at 16:18
Hi Simon,
My husband is the applicant and we’ll have the interview in Argentina on January 3rd.
We already got all the papers, except for the High school degree that is missing. He is a physician and he had his medical degree (6 years of study).
You think it could be a problem? Because the school takes almost 6 months in replace it.
Thanks for everything and regards
December 15, 2018 at 04:11
No problem. He can qualifybased on his profession. So – he must show evidence of his work qualifications and resume.
December 15, 2018 at 17:41
Thanks!
December 14, 2018 at 16:37
Hi Brit
I have a question that bothers me a bit.
I completed high school in 2004 with excellent results.I was admitted into the university in 2005 and after 2 year in the university I realized I didn’t like the course I was doing so I dropped out and entered into business at that age of 22.
When I applied for the dv lottery I indicated that my highest level of education is High school for which I still have my certificate
My question is should the CO ask me if I continued school after high school should I answer yes or No.
Reason being I actually went for 2 years but didn’t finish it
Your response is highly appreciated
December 15, 2018 at 04:11
You simply answer the truth. That’s all.
December 15, 2018 at 06:58
Hello brit my case number AS19xx when i write email to kcc to unlock and add new born baby they replied like this…
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.
My question is can i contact consular right now or after i receive 2nl.?
December 15, 2018 at 15:05
After the 2NL – a couple of days later.
December 16, 2018 at 16:41
Are you from Nepal Aditya ?
December 15, 2018 at 10:34
Dear I need help my interview in Sudan and am currently living in Sudan , my husband live in ksa and we want to be interviewed there in ksa , I sent an email requesting the change but still they are sending me the same reply I have tried to send them my request 4 times but still getting the same reply , which tells u how to change the interview location. Do I have to unclog the Ds some friend tell me u can unlock it with an email only , I will post u their reply
Thank you for your inquiry.
Once the DS-260 for the Principal Applicant has been submitted, the Interview Location can only be updated by the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). Please send your request to [email protected]. You will need to include information that explains why you need the interview location changed. Unless they are in the U.S. and adjusting status, all applicants on the case will be scheduled for interview with the Principal Applicant. You should contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate directly to arrange separate interviews, if needed.
If you need to change your interview location because your residency has changed, you will need to include the new address in your email. You will also need to request that KCC unlock your DS-260, so that you can update your application with your new address. (Please note that Post Office Boxes and mailing addresses in care of another person do not justify a change of interview location.)
If your interview has already been scheduled, you must contact the embassy at which you have been scheduled to determine if your case can be transferred to a different location.

That email provides VERY clear instructions. Have you followed the instructions precisely??? If so – describe what you have done.
December 15, 2018 at 12:06
Hi
I am a dv2019 winner and i live in the United States for 2yrs during my MBA and have since returned……. What are my possibilities of becoming successful
December 15, 2018 at 14:56
Nothing you have said is relevant in determining what chance of approval you have.
December 15, 2018 at 12:08
Hello Brit,
my family just got approved for the diversity visa and i got disqualified during the interview for my age 21, what can my father ( the applicant ) do after the arrival in the US and to bring me to join them.
Thank you.
December 15, 2018 at 14:55
First of all, how far over 21 were you at the interview (precisely, in days)? The embassy might not have been aware of the effect of the CSPA – read here: https://britsimonsays.com/child-turn-21-can-heshe-get-visa/
If you are above the CSPA adjusted age, your parents could sponsor you once they get to the USA and have settled. However, that is a LONG process – around 6 or 7 years (the F2B category).
December 15, 2018 at 17:46
Dear Simon I have did what they asked for email and I tell them why I need to change my interview location I will post you my email and tell me what is wrong with it
Dear Sir or madam,
I kindly request you to change my interview location from Khartoum (Sudan ) to Riyadh (Saudi Arabia ) because I will be at Saudi Arabia Riyadh from February 2019
Also on other email I told them that am going for a visit to my husband
Kindly Simon tell me if my Permenant address will not change nexus I am going there for a visit to my husband and I want to be interviewed there do I have to unlock the ds 260 my case number is AF17xxx
December 15, 2018 at 19:51
OK – you need to pay attention. Their response told you everything you need to know.
The interview is scheduled based on the current address of the principal – so are you the principal or your husband. The current address is what drives the interview. Now – read the email again and decide what you need to do.
December 16, 2018 at 04:01
Am the principal not him , so this means unless my address have been changed I can’t change ,,, what if I travel there for a visit And come back ad updated the ds 260 can this cause problem or delays Will this allow me to change the location , and also I have already sent the required documentation on 21 November my case is AF17
December 16, 2018 at 04:10
The position is clear. Get on with your decision.
December 15, 2018 at 18:03
My question in shorter why do I have to unlock the ds if am going to ksa for a visit or the change should be only with email , and why they have not change is it because my reason is not enough for them or they want me to unlock update the address and tell them change it , I do not want to unlock because it will cause me delays and because am going only for a visit and my address is still in my original country tell me should I unlock and what to do if I unlock or call them or keep repeating my email because my friend repeat his email 3 times until they change it for him but his case is different because he lives in ksa and Sudan is his country of nationally
December 15, 2018 at 19:53
Firstly – learn to use the reply button so that I have context.
Next. The email is clear. Don’t bother asking “why” – just get on with the instructions that you clearly have not followed.
December 16, 2018 at 09:44
I have followed the instructions I send and email and I told them that am going only for a visit that is why I can’t change anything in the ds because it’s a vist not change of residence address , should I open the DS for the visit or I can open it and change the first page that tells u to select the interview location to Saudi Arabia without changing the address , kindly tell me what to do

Again. You cannot select the embassy location. The field is not even editable after you submit/unlock your form. As they have told you, KCC choose the location based on the address for the principal. You either change your address (and then ask them to change the location), or your spouse comes to your embassy, OR you try and arrange separate interviews (not recommended). Their letter makes that clear. There is no other option. Pick one.

Hi,
That happened with me as well , I have sent to them more than 3 times requesting to change my interview location form kuwait to Cairo.. I am a permanent residence in kuwait and my family in Cairo.. the replay with automatic email with instructions ignoring all thing I have tried to clarify..
Then I have booked a ticket to be attached to show them at that time I will not be in kuwait and i have attached a company letter to prove that I will take my anual hoiday hoat that time in Cairo and replayed on the same email.. after that they confirmed that my interview location has been changed based on these informations..
KCC replay
Based on the information you have provided, your interview location has been changed from Kuwait to Cairo. The new interview location will not appear on your DS-260, but will be used by KCC for scheduling purposes. When we have scheduled your interview, you will be required to log into the Entrant Status Check (ESC) to view your appointment notification. At that time, please verify that your appointment is scheduled for the correct post. If for any reason it is not, you may contact KCC again
By the way thanks Mr.simon for your advise

the easiest ways is call your husband back to Sudan from Saudi And go the interview there together. If you want to chose the easy ways you already have. Just call back your husband to Sudan for Interview and that will be solve your problem. if your husband work in Saudi, tell him to take a leave and try your future to live in the USA. If you have all the requirement document needs, you already approved. So dont make any harder from easily. just my Opinion. Good luck

Hi Brit
Please I need your advice on this.
Myself and my wife got married here in South Africa.
We had both the customary marriage and the white wedding here in South Africa.
We were giving a marriage certificate by the church but that’s seems not to be legal.
For the sake of our interview, can we get a marriage certificate from the registrar’s department in Ghana or should we get it from the home affairs office in south Africa.
Will the USA embassy in south Africa accept the marriage certificate from Ghana?
Thank you

You need to show proof of a legal marriage. It doesn’t matter where from as long as it is genuine and legal.

You will wait for some months. Plenty of time to read the recent articles to answer your second question.

Read the FAQ!!!!
The visa in your passport proves you are a resident – so you use that.

Hi Simon,
I am working and I have an EAD card which has USCIS number. I am just wondering whether it’s the alien registration number?. When I called KCC they told me they are not sure and wanted me to call USCIS to confirm. When I called USCIS I don’t have an option to chose to ask information about this.
Thanks for your help!

I don’t know what number is on an EAD card. Call Uscis and speak to a human.
December 17, 2018 at 16:03
Hi BritSimon,
If the principal applicant is in the USA and his Case Number is higher, should he wait his case number to get current in order to file for adjustment? Or Adjustment of Student visa to DV visa does not require to get current of his case number in order to get processed?
December 17, 2018 at 17:09
AOS cases cannot file before they are **announced** as being current. So – when the VB is published that contains your number, you can file.

Having my parents as an asylum seeker in US won’t affect my DV case right? i know that i should tell the truth if they ask, but this is so sensitive to them.
December 17, 2018 at 17:54
Their case doesn’t affect your case.
December 17, 2018 at 18:16
I am married but filled as single because my wife was unavailable with my 2 year old kid. should i fill the d260 that i am already married with their details
December 18, 2018 at 04:50
No. You should forget about your selection. You broke the rules and cannot fix it.
December 17, 2018 at 19:47
mr. simon with duo respect sir my case number is AF6XXX i was supposed to have 2nl this months and i have send all rewuiremnt papers they asked for and yet nothing i get of them
and (The new document procedure has had some impact because as KCC warned, they did not schedule cases where people had not provided the documents by the new procedure. That meant there were significant numbers of people that could not be scheduled in January, and those people will need a large proportion of the available visa interview slots for February
what do we care if they provide or not i need answer pls if you could .

December 18, 2018 at 07:09
Hi
I had a question regarding my Visa….so I wanted to withdrawal money from my account…its like if we are permanently migrating to an overseas country…but on the Visa it written temporary so for dat reason they are not releasing the funds….so my question was why is it temporary…what does it mean….
December 18, 2018 at 10:54
The visa issued for DV cases is an immigrant visa, but is used one time, and must be used before the expiry date. During your first entry it will be endorsed to become permanent.

Sir Brit , wish you blessing from above because you are doing great here. Please I need your email right now
