2NLs are starting to be sent for July interviews. Again, as has been the pattern for the last three months, these are earlier than normal, I expect we will see similar unusual process this month, so the 2NLs might be spread out over a few days, or even the next couple of weeks – I don’t know for sure. So – look out for the email – and check the ESC site.
Last month, some people got 2NL emails but then had to wait days or even a couple of weeks before the interview letter showed on the ESC page. Other people waited until the beginning of the following month to get their 2NLs and ESC page update. So – be patient, stay calm. If your 2NL is delayed, it has nothing to do with President Trump and doesn’t mean aliens have invaded. Just relax and be patient. Some physicians won’t schedule the medicals unless you have the 2NL in hand, BUT these interviews are for JUNE, so there is plenty of time.
The other thing that happened last month was that some people did not get scheduled as they thought. Those people should find they have been assigned to July interviews. In the same way, it is possible that some embassies will not have capacity for the large number of cases to be scheduled this month – so some people will have a difficult wait until the end of the month.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
*** please for our willing scrapers – let’s get scraping (as we can then identify the cases that have been scheduled, and that tells us how many interviews are being scheduled per embassy/region ***

May 30, 2018 at 14:34
Stop being annoying and read previous posts!—>Since April 2018 KCC has started to send interview letters in two batches (the first one around the 15th of a given month and the second around the 1st of the following month)
June 3, 2018 at 17:46
Did anyone confirm the way KCC send and publish 2NLs ? AF 33XXX and above until the 38xxx current did not get 2NLs. What is happening.
June 3, 2018 at 18:34
No one knows what is happening, other than some people are delayed. Patience.
May 30, 2018 at 17:55

May 30, 2018 at 12:42
When did you submit you ds260?
May 31, 2018 at 21:47
First time in 26/9/2017 then unlocked and resubmit it in 13/1/2018
June 3, 2018 at 01:43
Mah how are you today is there any news about your case .
June 3, 2018 at 06:27
Well it is a bit nerve racking at times but I can’t do anything else but as Simon mentioned to wait and see.
I will check status every now and then but I believe they schedule cases around the day of the VB (15th) and the beginning of each month. So let’s wait and see what happens and in the meantime hope for the best and be calm. There’s nothing else we can do.
May 30, 2018 at 19:45
Contacting KCC would help God make it easier.
May 30, 2018 at 12:43
Same situation my dear

May 30, 2018 at 14:55
Hello Simon, I’m currently looking for a sponsor as you advice me and my relative who’s not eligible to be my sponsor may ask his friend to send me the documents .. one problem: his friend is not from my origin country but he’s eligible and a US citizen, is it gonna cause any problem? And what if the consulate ask me where do you know this guy what do I say?
May 30, 2018 at 19:39
I don’t provide “canned answers” for questions. My advice is to tell the truth. So the question will be – why would this stranger support you?
May 30, 2018 at 21:15
I’m not willing to lie to them, I just want to go to the interview with full confident and correct papers ..
So I guess if I tell them he is a friend of my relative and he agreed to support me, it will make no sense? I need to look for another one then?
May 30, 2018 at 21:50
Your choice.
May 30, 2018 at 22:27
I see, thank you Simon for helping us and answering to questions, I think I may keep this option as a last resort and look for friends and relatives from the US, I didn’t want to bother them because I know these papers are a bit sensitive but I guess I have no choice but to ask them.
May 30, 2018 at 16:45

May 31, 2018 at 07:54
Hi Simon,
Does the sponsor have to include US citizen children as part of beneficiary’s children to the affidavit form I-134? 2 of my children are US citizens. Thank you.
May 31, 2018 at 16:46
If in doubt, include them.
May 31, 2018 at 14:41
I received an interview letter
There are three names for our family.
But in U.S. State Department
Case number status
I don’t see my daughter’s number.
She is just 21 years old
May 31, 2018 at 17:36
They often exclude children that turn 21. However, there may be a chance that the 21 year old can still be included – read the link below.

June 2, 2018 at 09:29
Hi Brit, good day sir and firstly I appreciate the tremendous amount of energy and dedication u r putting in to answer our worries especially the @Che Che ones, lol
Plz brit I wish to find out if there exist a possibility that KCC would still send out VBs for the last 2 months even when they aren’t sure everyone would get an interview date?
Thanks Brit
June 2, 2018 at 12:58
They do the best they can to schedule every case that is current, but mistakes can happen. So – some cases could be missed. Recently we have seen a change in the timing of the 2NLs and some problems in scheduling in some embassies. I don’t know what that will mean to scheduling in the last 2 months.
June 2, 2018 at 13:11
Hi,
1. When you say problems in scheduling, is this mean backlog?
2. Do you know which ambassies in the AF region are more concerned with this problem of scheduling?
3. Did it happen in previous years?
Thanks in advance
June 2, 2018 at 13:15
1. No – embassy capacity.
2. Not precisely, no.
3. No
June 2, 2018 at 14:48
Thanks for your answer.
i noticed that in the July 2nL excel sheet, not a single case is ready for Casablanca (CSB) embassy. The in-transit cases do not show the embassy name.
Is this has to do with the capacity problem you mentionned above?
June 2, 2018 at 14:52
Maybe.
June 3, 2018 at 07:17
Kk brit so does this tell us that as far as VB continue to be sent out for the remaining 2 months then there is an assurance that all numbers current would most probably be interviewed?
June 3, 2018 at 15:44
That is not what I said.
June 2, 2018 at 11:52
Hello Brit,
Is it possible that everyone that numbers are cut receive 2NL??
June 2, 2018 at 13:06
That is how it is supposed to work
June 2, 2018 at 12:51
My case 2018AF28****current on last June
I send inquiries to KCc the replay (Your forms have been received and pending further embassy review for the continuation of your visa processing.)
Is the situation normal the case pending in the embassy This whole time?
June 2, 2018 at 13:32
Yes and no. You should be scheduled – so write to them again asking about your interview date.
June 9, 2018 at 09:49
My case number 2018AF282*** current in Jun pending further embassy review for the continuation of your visa processing.as they say
Pending at the Embassy of Abu Dhabi
When reviewing the form found In the details of the address information
( I wrote the present address and also repeated it as a previous address with errors and then I added my previous real address also in the third title)
1) Is this the reason why my case has been pending by the embassy so far
2)How to correct this error
Thanks and best regards
June 9, 2018 at 14:24
Contact KCC, they might be delaying you because they are planning to schedule in your home country.
June 2, 2018 at 12:56
Dear Mr. Simon,
I have three questions.
1. What happened with travel ban court?
2. Is that okay to unlock ds260 just to add a job exprience?
3. In Kabul, Afghanistan US Embassy, from 88 cases only 2 of them are issued the rest are in AP. Do you have any idea why?
June 2, 2018 at 13:14
1. No decision yet.
2. Yes, if you want.
3. No – but security concerns would be a fair guess.
June 2, 2018 at 14:27
Thank you. The previouse years did not have more than 2 to 5 cases in AP while in 2018 it is around 85 cases in AP.
If the AP staus is not finished for a case till september, the visa would be refused?
June 2, 2018 at 14:53
Yes
June 2, 2018 at 13:53
Hello Brit
I appreciate your efforts in helping us with our questions…my case got current for June interviews(AF26***)
Till date I haven’t received a 2nl , I contacted three weeks ago KCC and their response is ” your forms have been received and completed processing and are pending further embassy review for further processing” I am really worried and don’t know what could be the problem.
June 2, 2018 at 14:56
Others have the same situation. Ask KCC again.
June 2, 2018 at 15:00
Got the 2NL !!!
June 2, 2018 at 15:39
hi subur.
can you tell us what was your case number just around it and whate date you sumited ds 260
June 2, 2018 at 17:28
My last unlock to my ds 260 was on February 21 it’s three months passed now my first submitting was on may the 19 when I contact kcc they told me in email it’s still processing is it possible that make a mistake should I call them to check on the phone thank you brit
June 3, 2018 at 01:06
I already told you their response was nonsense. Others are being told the same who NEVER unlocked. Just wait. Be patient. Stop asking me things I already told you.
June 2, 2018 at 18:06
Hi Brits I filed my form since July and I’m 34k and current but I haven’t received my letter.please I need your help cuz I’m confused.
June 3, 2018 at 01:09
You need to wait some more. Patience.
June 2, 2018 at 18:25
Hi Brit my case NO AF37XXX shows AT NVC ,when will I receive my 2Nl ?
June 3, 2018 at 01:09
I don’t know exactly. Patience.
June 3, 2018 at 01:53
Patience is the key
June 3, 2018 at 16:40
You are right it’s nerve wracking, I hope we will get the 2nl soon
Thank you.
June 3, 2018 at 17:38
Thank you Brits. I have got my visa in the Dv 2018
I have questions on the travel process
1. I have completed my medical examination around April 4/2018, so this medical examination can fuction up to six months or three months?
2. My visa expire date is up to the end of sep /2018. Is there a probabiltiy of expiration on others documents before visa expire date?
June 3, 2018 at 18:31
The visa expiry date is set as 6 months after the medical date. That’s your answer.
June 3, 2018 at 18:06
@BritSimon
I’ve got a question regarding a family where the father was the one who won. After getting their visas, do they have to go all together to activate their green card then collect it ? Would it be a problem for the father to go alone first then the wife and kids join him later on in few weeks or months?
Thanks.
June 3, 2018 at 18:35
The winner can go before the derivatives, or with them. The derivatives cannot enter before the winner.
June 3, 2018 at 19:48
Dear Simon
Hope you are doing well
1. Is it necessary to obtain the I-134 form for the interview considering that we are a couple with a baby and USD 60,000 in savings and can produce bank statements verifying it?
June 3, 2018 at 20:06
It’s up to you to decide whether you want to cover every eventuality.
June 3, 2018 at 19:49
Hi dear simon
Do infants (10 months) also need any medical examinations prior to the interview??
June 3, 2018 at 20:05
Yes
June 4, 2018 at 12:10
Hi Simon,
A question about police certificates, so I have been in Kenya since 27th of November 2017, as I started working here, left for about a month from mid february for holiday, and came back again, but that is not mentioned on the ds-260 as it was only a short holiday and not a place where I resided.
I have been on business (visit) visas, and got a residency in Kenya from the beginning of april 2018.
I want to get the police certificate ready, but they mentioned that I would not be able to acquire one now and only after a minimum of 6 months after my residency status began (april 2018), i.e. by october 2018.
The embassy asks for police certificates for any country I have been living in for more that 6 months, and I might not be able to provide that for Kenya due to the above.
My question is would that be a problem, if I explain truthfully as stated above?
Thank you in advance,
June 4, 2018 at 14:19
If you are residing in Kenya at the time of the interview, that could be a problem. You should try to get the police cert again – showing proof you entered in November.
June 4, 2018 at 18:09
Well yeah I am now, and I have stated that in my application with my addresses since November 2017.
I will go to khartoum for the interview once scheduled, as I have to obtain some other documents there as well prior to it.
Best is to obtain it right?
June 4, 2018 at 18:20
Yes
June 4, 2018 at 19:13
Hi Mah, did you visit u. s embassy Sudan Khartoum, there are three steps mention if how to prepare for your interview for farther info, please let’s communicate and here my email [email protected]

Kindly list these steps you mention here.
I have yet to be scheduled for an interview. Hoping for news in the coming weeks.

thank you.
June 4, 2018 at 14:59
Only what I have said so far. My advice is to contact KCC.
June 4, 2018 at 16:13
Hi Simon,
I am Eritrean and I have a question about police certificates, so I have been in Kenya, to visit my family, since 23th of December 2017, and left to Uganda, to renew my visa for about a week from first of May, and come back again, on 30 May 2018, to attend for my interview for July, but that is not mentioned on the Ds-260 as it was only a short day and not a place where I resided.
* I do have a police certificate from my country of reside date before i visit to kenya and I would not come back to my country.
Therefore, My question is would I need a police certificate for that situation?
Thank you in advance,
June 4, 2018 at 19:07
Please read the instructions and make sure you fully understand what police certs you need.

Hi, I want to ask you, were you able to get a police certificate in Kenya?
They’re giving me a hard time since I have not been on a residency for six month? If so any tips?
Thank you!
June 4, 2018 at 20:17

June 4, 2018 at 20:24
Yes I have and I have been to CID, but still they’re saying that police certificates are only issued for residents who have resided for at least 6 months, and my residency was issued at the beginning of April.
Prior to that I was on a business (visit) visa, according to them that time doesn’t count.
As I submitted late (May 27th 2018) and my case number is low 2018AF7xxx I do want to be prepared should my ds260 get processed in time so to avoid any delays after interview. I know that I am eligible, and meet the requirements (education/work experience) and I might only get one shot at it. So I do not want to miss it.
I will work on getting it at all costs.
June 4, 2018 at 22:51
What about the undocumented residents part??
June 5, 2018 at 05:14
I believe undocumented residents is only related to refugees in Kenya.
June 5, 2018 at 05:34
Well if I were you, I would check that.
June 5, 2018 at 06:44
Ill look into it today. Will update as welll for everyone’s benefit here.
June 4, 2018 at 16:19
Hi brit,
My case is current for July interview, but haven’t receive my 2NL yet. And I try to contact KCC regarding this issue through email twice ( on 2 June and 3 June ) , but til now they didn’t reply me. So, Please Brit I need you help.
June 4, 2018 at 19:06
Wait for their reply (June 2 and 3 was the weekend).
June 4, 2018 at 20:37
Hi BritSimon, I have a question and I hope you’ll be able to give me some answers, my case number is AF279** from April VB but I still didn’t receive my 2NL yet. and also I sent my DS260 in July 2017. do you have any idea what’s going on? thank you so much.
June 4, 2018 at 20:42
Which country are you from sir? Because I have similar problem am from Cameroon
June 4, 2018 at 22:52
There are delays – we don’t know exactly why, but possibly capacity issues. Contact KCC.
June 4, 2018 at 20:57
Hi Brit, Hoping that all is well, I just wish to let you know that I contacted KCC with regards to delayed 2nl (af289**) . Cameroon in particular and was told that my case was received and May take several weeks to process.
My comment: considering the fact that time is fast running out for 2018 winners , do we stand any chance??
Thanks very much for your time , patience and humanitarian gesture
June 4, 2018 at 22:56
I really have no way to guess what will happen.
June 4, 2018 at 22:32
Dear Simon;
Looking on July 2NL cvs file; almost the submited date of those case is in MAY 2018; I have a bad feeling that those of us who are not getting our 2nl is because of late submission. For example mine was sent to KCC in september 2017. Is my theory right or it is just other factors that we dont know.
Thanks
June 4, 2018 at 23:04
No we know your theory is not right.
June 5, 2018 at 05:45
Mr. Simon,
Based on your advise, I have asked KCC to unlock my form and added a job exprience and revised some information.
now if my case goes current in Agust, does this revision matter?

hi brit i sent meesage to kccdv to chane interview location they answered this message. Thank you for your inquiry.
Once the DS-260 for the Principal Applicant has been submitted, the Interview Location can only be updated by the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). Please send your request to [email protected]. You will need to include information that explains why you need the interview location changed. Unless they are in the U.S. and adjusting status, all applicants on the case will be scheduled for interview with the Principal Applicant. You should contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate directly to arrange separate interviews, if needed. what dose it means dose they open my ds 260
