This is for August interviews and is the penultimate VB for the DV2018 year.
For the inevitable questions. CURRENT means all case numbers in the region can be scheduled. AS region being current was expected, AF region was not.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. For the last three months there have been delays in 2NLs for a large number of people – so we still expect some people to be interviewed that were current in June and July. It is obvious that there has been some delay in scheduling interviews – at least in some embassies. Since this is not normal I don’t have good answers for what that means, what impacts that will cause and so on. Because AF regon is now current it means that the AF embassies that are scheduling interviews as normal will be able to have ANY case number scheduled, but I suspect there will still be some scheduling problems in some of the embassies. It’s going to be interesting.
It looks like there has been a small redistribution from Asia (because AS region cannot use its quota while the travel ban is in force), and that has benefitted OC, SA and EU. Because of this OC and SA might exceed their previous expected numbers (so people with borderline high cases just got some good news) whilst EU is still a low number despite more visas from AS.
One more VB to go for DV2018.
For DV2019 winners – remember this VB is NOTHING to do with your numbers – this is just DV2018.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

I want to know apart from 39500 Visa bulletin Kcc add additional 2750 visa bulletin for September

August 8, 2018 at 02:10
Hi Simon it is me again, so sorry I forgot to mention I am currently in USA.
August 8, 2018 at 02:58
OK.
1. If you are adjusting status in the USA, the timings are up to the Field office.
2. Medium
3. First of all – educate yourself on the process – everything you need is here: https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2019-aos-only.337772/
August 8, 2018 at 02:05
Hi Simon, can you help me to figure out few questions that I have?
1) my case # is 2019SA000008xx when should I expect an interview?
2) And my case # is low or high in the SA region?
3)The another question is when should I start making the $330 payment in between 2 month before my number becomes current or I can pay it, on October which it the first month of my fiscal year to claim the visa?
Thank you for your help!
August 1, 2018 at 22:19

hi brit my case number is 2018af00042511 do i have a chance,is 2018 from africa cameroun.
July 28, 2018 at 20:30
No – you have no chance at all as your number is above 39500.
July 28, 2018 at 14:11
My original interview was on August and after transferring my case they have confirmed the same date. Date is confirmed however they cannot guarantee that my visa is available. Do you think it is worth to give it a go and try anyway?
July 28, 2018 at 20:12
That is up to you. It depends how critical the lost medical and interview fees will be – compared to the chance of a GC.
July 28, 2018 at 12:39
Hi Brit,
I have transferred my case to another embassy. They confirmed my interview date at first, however 10 days before my interview they’ve informed me that they cannot guarantee that a visa is available for my case and they cannot guarantee that I will get one by September. They said that I can go and attend both the interview and the medical visit -and paying all the related fees- or I can contact them in August and check that a visa is available for me. My case is EU229XX.
What should I think about it? When an interview is scheduled, it is supposed that your case has a visa available or there is something that I have misunderstood?
July 28, 2018 at 13:35
It was VERY unwise to transfer your case this late in the year – if you had asked I would have told you not top risk it. I assume you were originally scheduled in August, and are now scheduled in September. You have now risked your case because the visa(s) that was allocated to your case were good for the original month of interview. There are very few visas left for EU. I don’t know if you will get one.
July 27, 2018 at 01:22
hi brit my case number is 42511 is there any chance???
July 27, 2018 at 01:39

July 15, 2018 at 17:14
You will not be approved without it.
July 15, 2018 at 17:46
My wife and son have all their documents complete except for me.
will they be issued the visa except for me?
July 15, 2018 at 21:09
Depends who is the winner.
July 16, 2018 at 02:58
She is the winner
July 16, 2018 at 03:27
So She and the child could be issued without waiting for you. Discuss with the CO if that is what you want to do.
July 15, 2018 at 03:41
This is very disgusting, ridiculous, and psychological murder how can America rattle and tattle with what many envisage as life changer for some of us in dictatorship countries like Cameroon where Paul Biya is erasing all English speaking Cameroonian everyday?? Why giving hope to the hopeless then turn back and collect that hope again?? Last VB was current we all were hopping to get interview but now they turn back like children playing under the rains to 39500 that people with 41803 will do what?? After they have given priorities to case numbers greater than 41803 for August ,what more stands of our own fate??
Well Brit thank you very much for the guidance throughout this 14 horrible and wasted months. I have learn something in life never to hope or depend on America again. I will never waste my time to play.from here on ward in will goto Ahbu Dhabi and start there
July 15, 2018 at 05:47
Best of luck in AD.
July 14, 2018 at 14:22
Et avec ma famille
July 14, 2018 at 14:20
Since I have no chance with this wave that ends soon. I would like to know if I can replay again for the next lottery of 2020 or I am discalified?
July 14, 2018 at 15:04
You can try again.
July 14, 2018 at 12:13
Simon
Please there’s any chance for AF 42300

July 14, 2018 at 14:55

July 14, 2018 at 09:56

July 14, 2018 at 14:49
No
July 13, 2018 at 23:12
Hi Brit!
I have visa interview on first week of August. But I still haven’t received an email about what to prepare for scheduled interview. Should I worry or do something about this issue? What do you suggest for me to do?
Thanks…
July 14, 2018 at 00:34
You should be reading the instructions, booking medicals and preparing documents etc.
July 14, 2018 at 12:04
Thanks for quick response. I’m already reading the instructions. But I mean that absence of this email is big deal for GC process?
July 14, 2018 at 14:55
No. It means you shouldn’t be waiting for any email.
July 13, 2018 at 22:10
Greetings Mr. Brits , just want to find out about this number 39479 if there is hope for interview and if possible, when do I hope on that?
Thanks
July 14, 2018 at 00:29
That is under 39500 – so yes. 2NLs in a couple of weeks.
July 13, 2018 at 20:17
Hi britsimon,
Quick question: Can I request KCC to unlock DS260 and make change after form i-485 has been filed to uscis?
July 13, 2018 at 20:51
There is no point in doing that. The DS260 for AOS cases only opens your file. The data is not used.
July 13, 2018 at 16:10
Hi Simon, my CN is 2018AF334** Should i continue believing and expecting 2nl(Interview)? Thx
July 13, 2018 at 16:37
Yes
July 13, 2018 at 14:42
This is the end of our story as well (EU26000) 🙁
We have been living in US with L-visa two years earlier. Winning the lottery was a huge promise for my family to go back and continue our life in US.
Past year with two teenagers, especially these last months with decreasing numbers per month has been nerve breaking after all the exitement we had year ago.
Thanks Brit!
July 13, 2018 at 15:13
Very sad. This number is lower than the number I had – so I can understand the feeling…
July 13, 2018 at 14:12
hi Brit is this really the last vb for 2018
July 13, 2018 at 15:03

July 13, 2018 at 13:39

July 13, 2018 at 13:35
Hi Brit, then it’s over for us who are in the CN 42400 on no chance then
July 13, 2018 at 15:00
Correct.
July 13, 2018 at 13:21
my cn is eu 26035
this is the end of the saddest story of my life, I was very happy at the beginning since I was selected. with all effort, attention, stress it was for vain, now it ended.
Thank you brit for guidance.
July 13, 2018 at 14:58
That is very frustrating for you to be that close.
July 13, 2018 at 12:46
The link you sent, says/shows Septmeber.
So, is this the final VB for DV 2018? Or there’ll be another VB?
Shows the cut off for AF is 39,500.
That means they’re not going to give all the selectees a 2NL/ an opportunity for an interview.
What was then the essence of putting AF CURRENT if all they did was to add 1,500 cases more.
Giving us hopes by putting a whole region current just to add 1,500 and cut off at 39,500.
I hope this is for August and another VB will be release with more cases included.
Brit what’s your say about this link.

Thanks.
July 13, 2018 at 13:20
It’s over. I called KCC intears and the agent couldn’t comfort me. He said it’s over
July 13, 2018 at 14:10
They were thinking about redistributing Asian visas to other regions. That is why they announced Africa Current in August. Then they changed their mind about redistribution and rescinded August cutoff for September. Hopefully, they will still schedule numbers above 39500 for August interviews.
July 13, 2018 at 15:03
I don’t think you are paying attention.
