People started receiving their 2NLs for March 2017 interviews. It will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
For those that received their interview notice, now is the time to start preparing for the interview. Gathering documents, scheduling the medical and so on. To learn how to prepare please view my guide on preparing for the interview.
If you have received your 2NL – please take a moment to reply to this post and add your region/case number range PLUS the date of submission and whether you unlocked at any point. This helps me gauge the backlog and DS260 processing times. Last month it was clear that cases submitted later than late July had a chance not to be scheduled because of backlog on DS260 processing. I expect we will see a good amount of progress until September submissions – so some feedback will be useful to determine that accurately.

Hi Brit , My case number is current for march (2017AS0000052xx), Haven’t received the second NL yet. My question is considering I am from Iran (one of those 7 countries), is it safe to pay the IV fees now or shall I wait for the second NL first since apparently new executive order from Trump is coming on. Thanks so much
February 20, 2017 at 17:35
You pay the fees at the interview.
February 20, 2017 at 17:47
Thanks Simon for prompt reply. Appreciate all your efforts. You are always there. Respect
February 20, 2017 at 07:50

February 20, 2017 at 06:52

Hi Simon

1, My education level is high school diploma and i took marticulation exam, but at this time i do not have the admission card that i was brought to the exam it is lost, but i have the result card(G.P.A) for the exam. Does it any affect if i do not bring the examination card to the interview?
February 10, 2017 at 13:03
Dear Brit,
my DV No. is in the 19800s so it applies for april interviews. I had to unlock the DS260 to enter our new born in january. Any idea if this means a throwback in scheduling to us or can I assume a notification by the end of february? Before the unlock in january I had it filed and locked in Sept 2016.
Best
Fabian
February 10, 2017 at 13:05
btw I’m from Europe 🙂
February 10, 2017 at 14:30
Best not to “assume” anything. Your submission was already quite late, so that, and processing time in general may mean you would not have got an April interview anyway. Adding an infant doesn’t require any delay.
February 9, 2017 at 12:05
Hi Simon
first of all i would like to say thank.
I am one of the winner dv lottery 2017, and i received my 2NL. My question is :
1, i renewed my passport in january does it need copy of the old passport to the interview?
2, after i received police certificate can i open the paper or will bring directly to the interview?
Thannk you!!!!!!
February 9, 2017 at 14:27
1. That would be wise.
2. You can open it.
February 8, 2017 at 22:00
My uncle is able to file for me but has informed me that he has a green card that last for 10 years, is this the same at the permanent residence? And is he able to sponsor me ?
February 8, 2017 at 23:43
Yes.
February 8, 2017 at 09:36
Hi Brit – just realized that for one of our previous US addresses I put a wrong city name in the D260 application. Street, ZIP all correct but the city name. Would you recommend contact KCC to have the DS260 reopened?
February 8, 2017 at 14:57
It’s minor, but if you are not yet scheduled, why not unlock and correct?
February 8, 2017 at 15:01
Thanks! Would an unlock delay the background check process? I expect my interview for May
February 8, 2017 at 15:06
No.
February 8, 2017 at 06:12
Hi Simon.

3. Is there any time frame set to receive you affidavit like it is done with the medical?
We want to be prepared adequately for the interview.
Thanks for the guidance.

February 5, 2017 at 11:57
Kindly share your interview experience with us
February 5, 2017 at 13:15
Wow. Congrats Vieillecaque. How come yours has been so fast? Submitting DS 260 in October and receiving 2NL in December. That was just within a space of 2 months. Much much faster than the norm. Very happy for you
Hello Brit, how could this have been?
February 5, 2017 at 16:23
It’s a misunderstanding. The first submission was July 4th.
https://britsimonsays.com/2nls-october-interviews-sent/comment-page-2/#comment-46087
February 6, 2017 at 09:28
Oo okay. Thanks Brit for the clarification. But would that fast processing couldn’t have been possible. Is it always the case that it would take 8 months from the date of submission of DS260 to date of interview for the visas?
February 6, 2017 at 17:42
There is a backlog at the beginning of the year, so processing can speed up later.
February 5, 2017 at 16:32
Excellent – 3 new USA residents! Just a quick correction to this – your first DS260 submission was July 4th.
February 6, 2017 at 17:34
Yes sorry, i was too excited ^^ first submission 4th of july, last reopening in october…
February 4, 2017 at 18:42
Hi Brit, Happy New Year, hope this year is beginning well for you. Well, I wish to thank you for your posts have helped me, I’ve finally received my 2NL, my interview comes early March . I submitted my DS-260 on the 15th August 2016 and received my 2NL on the 21st of January and my interview comes in March, I;m sure this information will help you . My case number is 2017AF1694, from CAMEROON. I have some few more questions.
1) Do you think Trumps foreign policies will affect my having a visa from Cameroon to USA as an Immigrant?
2) During medicals will they take a sample of my blood and urine ? What do they do ?
3) If i have the malaria parasite in me, will i be denied the visa.
February 4, 2017 at 20:31
1. No.
2. Various tests.
3. No
February 5, 2017 at 09:53
Thank You Brit
February 4, 2017 at 10:51
Hi Brit, as always, thanks a lot for the great work you are doing. I need serious help here.
When I was filling my Ds260 there was a portion that asked current employment/school. I was not sure what to put there because I am applying using my education and not work. I realised that I will not qualify for the visa using employment but rather education and so instead of providing the name of my work I rather selected a student and gave the name of my school. the next thing to fill obviously was if I had ever worked before. there, I obviously inputted the name of another place I worked with before i got my current place of work.
Now the confusion is, if I am asked of where I work what should I say so as not to contradict myself from what I have indicated on my ds260. Now due to some commitment I have with my current job, I may have to be in the employment for at least 3 years before resigning. This means that, after my initial entry I will have to come back and be going at least once every year to the USA to keep my status until I have fulfilled my obligations with the company.
1. How do I make this all important amends because I don’t want the CO to think I hid any information when completing the DS260
2. was there a way I could have indicated my current place of work as well putting premium on my current schooling since I believe my qualification for the visa is tied more to my eduction than to my employment history?
³. How do you advise I go about it so that I come out successful from the interview
February 4, 2017 at 15:57
Oh jeeze. This is all so much easier if you simply answer the questions truthfully. So the answers to 1, 2 and 3 is TELL THE TRUTH!
February 4, 2017 at 17:15
Thank you Brit.
I know i was very truthful in the answer i gave because i could not have given the name of the work place as well as indicated my current schooling status. I can only choose one at a time. I felt the education carried more weight.
Anyway, that has already been done and now i am preparing for the interview. My queation is if they ask the name of my place of work, do i simply say i am a student give my place of work bearing in mind what i have opted for in the filling of the ds260
February 4, 2017 at 17:31
If asked, you tell the truth.
February 4, 2017 at 18:50
Sure I will. Many many thanks
February 3, 2017 at 21:23
Hi Brit. Hope u are fine. I’m worry about my status since I summited in October 21, 2016 I have gotten 2nls yet. I’m from Liberia Africa with case# 2017Af11xxx.
Pls help tell me as what would be the backlog, or delay.

Hi Simon,
We are scheduled for our interview on 1st March and I had written to the local embassy to obtain a letter to get the Police Certificate (which is a pre-requisite for the Singapore Police Force). I was surprised that the Singapore embassy replied that they only issue letters for immigrant visa applicants to apply for Police Certificate after they have attended their visa interview. Have you come across any such case whereby Police Certificates are not needed during interviews? Really appreciate your feedback on this. Thanks!
February 2, 2017 at 17:47
You could simply follow the very detailed instructions on the reciprocity page.

February 1, 2017 at 21:32

You can do it yourself – https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx
February 1, 2017 at 14:29
Brit,
Quick question. How long in general does the London U.S. Embassy take in returning the passport if everything goes well and no AP is needed? I guess there’s not a set number of days, but I would appreciate a benchmark/standard if you have are aware of one based on what you’ve heard over the years.
Thanks!
February 1, 2017 at 18:54
1 to 2 weeks.
February 1, 2017 at 19:03
Thank you
February 1, 2017 at 09:13
I won DV 2015/2016 but was not successful for visa and fingerprint was taking. I won DV again 2016/2017
Now my question is, is it possible that I process my documents to attend the interviews again??? Please your kindly advise!!!
February 1, 2017 at 19:13
Yes you can try again. But the reason for the denial *might* still cause denial this time if the problem still exists. So – it depends on why you were denied.
January 31, 2017 at 13:51
Hi Brits
My Case Number is 2017AF00037***
1. I Submitted my DS260 form on the 18 august unlock in October and Resubmit the same day but i didn’t get my second letter yet then i reopened again to correct the the Mistake i made on the 24th January and resubmit at the same day after realized that i made a Mistake on the Country of issue Passport, I putted a current Country where i’m living today instead of putting my country of origin where my passport was made. is that why this caused a delay?
2. In which Month do you am i going to get my second Letter since i didn’t get it in January
3. Today i’m living into another country and the interview venue was made here. do you is it a good idea to do it where i’m living today or i should E-mail The KCC to change my Interview Venue so that i can go do it back home in my country of origin where i come form.
4. In This country i live with an Asylum Paper. Is it going to Affect me to be issued a VISA?
Thanks.
January 31, 2017 at 14:28

Hi Brit… there is a friend who wone but someone is detaining his original confirmation number and he can’t log into the dvlottery page by himself. His CN is AF23*** but is not yet current because they submitted ds-260 late in November. He has the ds260 conformation page. pls advice me what to do to help him.
January 30, 2017 at 19:11
He will need his confirmation code to get his interview schedule. He may be able to contact KCC when he is scheduled. Because of the delayed submission, that is not possible yet, so for now, he just needs to wait.
January 31, 2017 at 15:58
Thanks Britt… another question. If he contacts KCC and told when he is scheduled. Are there possibilities to get interviewed minus the 2NL (in Kenyan Embassy)? He already have 1NL and ds260 confirmation page

Thanks
