The embassy location is normally scheduled based on where you live. You can contact KCC to request a location change, if there is good reason.

Hi Brit,my wife has won the lottery but our two children weren’t included in the entry documents. Can we just add them to the DS 260 form not as beneficiaries to get a visa to travel with us now but just to let them know we have children?
June 15, 2017 at 13:52
The instructions were very clear. Leaving derivatives off the entry will cause disqualification at the interview.

good day
i got the DV lottery 2017 and i finish all requirements and my interview next month but i have 2 points i want to share and need help.
1- I’m hepatitis B since 2007 and i have a ll the blood test history and i don’t have any problem and doctors told me no need for treatment because my condition is good and i don’t have any problems and do my check up every 6 months, Is this will make me rejected from the immigration??
2- i’m married and i have one baby born in the USA but i could pay at that time the deliver fees so they help me at the hospital and make medicate to pay the fees but we travel legal and we stay and leave without any problems and this is my sacound B!B2 visa and never Brock it. Is this will make me rejected from the immigration??

Hi Simon,
I have been selected for DV-2017 (case number in 37000 from Egypt) but I knew late (in May 2017).I submitted DS-260 on 20 May 2017. Is the time enough to review my DS-260 or It is too late ?
June 15, 2017 at 14:07
You may have enough time to be processed – but the case number is higher than the limit at the moment, so – wait and see.
June 15, 2017 at 06:12
Thanks God and to u Brit, we got our Visa. This blog was a great help to our process and It will be a disservice if I don’t appreciate your tremendous help to us. We are from Liberia.

Dear Brit,
DV 2018 selectee. I want to add applicant (spouse) to DS-260. It is asking me to upload marriage certificate before I can add her. The certificate is in Slovak language, do I have to upload english translation together with original document ?
Thank you !
June 15, 2017 at 00:34
It doesn’t mention the translation – right? So – just upload the marriage cert as the form is asking.

hi brit
i am dv 2017 winner, i got my visa and currently living America, i got married after i came America, so still my case is opening til the 31st Sep 2017.
may question is
could i request unlock my ds260 and add my new wife to get visa. is possible.
June 14, 2017 at 13:48
No, that is not possible. You must now go through an I-130 process.
June 15, 2017 at 08:53
you said before this.. whats is your suggestion.
Scenario 4: Marriage after interview, after entry into the USA but before the end of the DV year (September 30th).
OK – this is rare, so rare that I am not even sure this would be technically possible/legal. If you have created this mess you may be able to process a derivative case but this would be highly risky since they would rightly wonder why you hadn’t handled this earlier (i.e. causing them severe doubt that the relationship is real.
https://britsimonsays.com/marital-status-getting-married-dv-lottery-process/
June 15, 2017 at 14:03
My suggestion is an I-130 case.
June 14, 2017 at 09:02
Hi Simon,
I unlocked the DS260 Form. But I am very unclear only at this point
At the question : Have you ever been arrested or convicted for any offense
or crime, even though subject of a pardon, amnesty, or other similar action?
How should I answer this question ? Because I just received my
UK Police Certificate where is written clearly : NO TRACE
Because I NEVER have been in trouble with the Police (in UK and in the whole world).
If I select YES (in the Police Computer there are NO RECORDS for me)
and the CO may think badly about me during the interview
I will remind you briefly my story, to create an idea :
The Police stopped me, but they never said : You are under arrest for this offence….
They said to me : We will go in the Police Station to take your FingerPrints.
After the verification, the results shown that I was a Visa OverStayer.
I stayed in the Police Station 2 days pending for the Immigration Officers
And from that moment I continued my case at an Immigration Center.
Is this considered an arrest? I want to be very honest at the DS260 Form
I’m waiting for your precious advice, which option to select at the above question ?
Thank you very much
June 14, 2017 at 13:53
You have no criminal record BUT I always advocate honesty. So it is up to you.
June 14, 2017 at 08:36

2 when i try again the space for date of birth doesn’t open i really need fill the form because i have a low case number so i dont want to take too much time. is there any problem with the website so i wait or what can be the problem?
June 16, 2017 at 17:59
The problem is that you are not entering the date of birth correctly – i.e. matching what you used at entry.
June 14, 2017 at 05:10
Hello, Brit.. i would really apreciate if you could really help me out with my question here.
I got selected for the DV lottery 2018.. i have already applied for the 2NL as well.. but i’m in a bit of doubt, my case number is AS000068##. is it too high case number? and i’m from Nepal.
Thanks..
June 14, 2017 at 05:12
You will have to wait around a year from now to find out for sure.

2. Child application is ready to complete so can I leave blank?
June 14, 2017 at 01:27
1. Answer questions honestly/accurately.
2. Yes.
As I have previously told you – your case is risky. I hope you realize that.
June 14, 2017 at 06:25
I remember what you said but I don’t know why are you saying that? If you can guide me please guide and explain me points that it hard to pass. If it is risky how about if I drop it now my case and check my lucky letter..
June 14, 2017 at 14:05
Read my numerous previous replies to you on this subject. I am not going to keep repeating myself.
June 13, 2017 at 20:13
hi brit
Do you seek to enter the United States for the purpose of performing skilled or unskilled labor but have not yet been certified by the Secretary of Labor?
Are you a graduate of a foreign medical school seeking to perform medical services in the United States but have not yet passed the National Board of Medical Examiners examination or its equivalent?
as a medical doctor from another country….in order to answer these two questions above should i answer yes ?
or that just tells someone who is in the united states who is also medical doctor/health professional and answer it no?
in addition to that, in our country there is no foreign representative/embassy of the country that i have been resided for the last one year and is unobtainable when it comes to police record regarding to that country is it compulsory to get it and travel other countries?
thanks
June 14, 2017 at 01:23
Answer yes to the first two questions. (Number questions in future).
Read the instructions about police reports.
June 14, 2017 at 12:03
Hello BritSimon, I answered NO to;
1. Do you seek to enter the United States for the purpose of performing skilled or unskilled labor but have not yet been certified by the Secretary of Labor?
2. Are you a graduate of a foreign medical school seeking to perform medical services in the United States but have not yet passed the National Board of Medical Examiners examination or its equivalent?
as a medical doctor from another country….in order to answer these two questions above should i answer yes ?
But have already submitted my DV2018 DS260 form. What do I do?
June 14, 2017 at 13:35
The correct answer is yes. BUT it won’t make any difference, so no need to unlock.
June 14, 2017 at 13:41
My situation is the same, as I am an IMG, so I answered no to the first question and yes to the second question, this is what I read around online forums as what others did. In the explanation I said that I am in the process of passing the USMLE exams (I have them currently scheduled) and will work as a physician in the USA only if and when I obtain a medical license. As far as I understand it, it is ok to answer yes here, because apparently these forms are standard and used for other types of immigrant petitions and this is where the answer plays a role. Just some info on my side, but of course Simon probably knows best.
June 13, 2017 at 19:52
Hi Simon. Thanks for your great efforts to help us regarding the DV Lottery selectees.
As I am the main applicant,I want to ask about the police certificates from the UK for me and my wife as we lived there for two years and now outside the UK and we are in Yemen.Should I introduced the original Police Certificates at the interview or a copy of them.
Thanks
June 13, 2017 at 19:58
Take originals and copies to the interview.
June 13, 2017 at 20:07
Many thanks. So I have to ask The ACRO to dispatch the Police Certificates to me in Yemen?
June 14, 2017 at 01:22
I suppose so.
June 13, 2017 at 20:23
Thanks Simon.I have another question.I have filled and submitted the ds-260 for me and my family but a friend of me told me that any passport issued from some cities in Yemen after 2016 is not accepted from US embassies I have to change them from other accepted cities .What can I do for that? How to check about that?
Many Thanks Simon
June 14, 2017 at 01:24
I don’t know anything about that.
June 13, 2017 at 20:45
Thanks Simon but I don’t want to pay more money for receiving Original by international courier and maybe lose them if the photocopy is accepted.
The text below stated a PHOTOCOPY from the web address https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/diversity-visa/if-you-are-selected/prepare-supporting-documents.html
If you are 16 years of age or older, you must submit a photocopy of a police certificate from the following locations
Your Valuable Advice is highly appreciated Simon.
June 14, 2017 at 01:25
I answered already.
June 13, 2017 at 18:43
Hi Brit,
My name on the passport is Firstname Lastname (AAA BBBCCC). But when I entered the lottery, it is Firstname Middlename Lastname (AAA BBB CCC). When I filled in DS260, I used AAA BBB CCC format as in the lottery. Is that ok? Only one space difference? Thank you in advance for your prompt rely.
June 14, 2017 at 01:21
Make the DS260 match the passport.
June 13, 2017 at 18:37
hi
when i was checking my DV status, I put my last name (like the previous years) as xx-yy (my official last name is hyphenated) it did not work it gave me an error, so I removed the hyphen and it worked i got the answer that i have been selected, but inside the selection letter my last name is hyphenated. Now in DS260 shall i write it hyphenated or doesnt matter? thanks
June 14, 2017 at 00:57
I have the samething its ok dont worry
June 14, 2017 at 01:21
Try hyphenated, it may not let you. If not – then lose the hyphen.
June 13, 2017 at 17:51

June 14, 2017 at 02:02

June 13, 2017 at 17:10
Hi BritSimon,
DV 2018, DS-260.
Filling out address part. Can I write name of city district (BRATISLAVA IV) in “State / province” field ? like this:
City : BRATISLAVA
State / province : BRATISLAVA IV
Or reverse ?
Thank you
June 13, 2017 at 17:18
You can just make a choice.
June 13, 2017 at 17:25
Ok, thank you. And each time I returned to the same address I have to add it ? For example I was at home in Europe than I went for three months to US, than came back home and stayed for 2 months and than again to US for three months and then back home to Europe. Thanks
June 13, 2017 at 16:12
Dear Simon,
My wife and I do not have pictures of our wedding(We went and registered it at the municipality). We didn’t have a wedding because of the economy. We’re the simplest people on earth and never thought that it would be necessary. We got married before results where announced (DV 2017). But we have a million other(Silly) pictures of our lives together. Trying to save up so that we can travel more.
1. Are we doomed?
2. Do they ask for wedding pictures at the interview?
3. If yes, what should we tell them?
4. Should we take the other photos we have together?
—————
June 13, 2017 at 16:16
1. No. Just over-dramatic.
2. Not usually (especially where your marriage was registered before the results were announced).
3. Tell them you don’t have any.
4. Sure.
5. relax.
June 13, 2017 at 15:15
Good afternoon Simon, we were selected on the dv-2017 process, but we sent our ds-260 on may 9 this year, my case is 2017SA18xx….do you believe we still are on time to receive our 2nl? thank you
June 13, 2017 at 15:13
Hi Brit, I manage to unlock d260 for some revisions. Is there any time limit to re-submit it? Thanks.
June 13, 2017 at 17:18
No
June 13, 2017 at 14:52
Hi! If in dv application i made mistake and wrote highest levél of éducation is high school Diploma, and on form 260 i wrote university no degree since i got à Diploma at à university can this cause disqualification or i need to unlock form 260?
June 13, 2017 at 14:22
Hi Brit,
As you know I have been supported by you since the start of the process and if it is God’s will I am about to get finish. I have no word to express your support to all of us and I need to express my deep gratitude for your kindness.
since I’m going to be interviewed 1st week july, 2017 I wand you to help me answering questions below.
My sponsor lives in Alexandria, Virginia and having a saving of 5,000 USD.
1. Is it enough to sponsor me?
2. Is Annual Income must be stated too.
3. He has submitted a visa petition for his spouse is that be a problem?
4. in part 3 (I-134) “This person is wholly dependent on me for support is checked”. And also there is a check box (I-134) “I intend” and ” do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person named in Part 2″. therefore, should “I intend or do do note intend need to be check?
Thanks you so much
God Bless you
June 13, 2017 at 14:33
1. No
2. It is all about income, not savings.
3. Possibly – if the embassy are aware of that.
4. Intend
June 13, 2017 at 14:46
3. It is mentioned on the firm (i-134)
June 13, 2017 at 14:42
I forgot to mention(if it helps) that my sponsor is a US citizen by naturalization.
June 13, 2017 at 14:03
Hello Brit,
DV2018 winner. Filling out DS 260… Mailing and permanent address. Can I use an office address of my friend ? or it has to be an address where somebody actually lives (like house or flat) ? Thank you for your help.

June 13, 2017 at 13:25
Hi Brit
If i have only one job which is I am working now
Should i type NO to the question
June 13, 2017 at 12:54
Hi Britt, good morning! Do you have any idea of the estimated times of each part of the process once the package is sent to AOS to Chicago? In your spreadsheet is well detailed the process but does not indicate the estimated times of each part. Could you help me with this? I ask you because we know that the process ends on September 30 and that I do not have enough time. Until now I only have the confirmation I received in Chicago.
June 13, 2017 at 13:33
No – there is no predefined time – it varies by case, and in the early months they tend to be slower, so the timelines that others experience doesn’t apply to you. There is plenty of time until September. THere is NO NEED to be stressing.
June 13, 2017 at 12:33

June 13, 2017 at 12:02
Hello BritSimon,
Please, I’m having some troubles with “Present and Previous Address” in DS-260.
1. I have lived at some places repeatedly… for instance while I was studying I have lived at one place from 2009 – 2014, but during my studies I went to another university for a one semester (five months) 2011-2012 and than came back to the previous place. Should I list first address twice as 2009-2011 and 2012-2014 ? or just once as 2009 – 2014?
2. I was in the USA few times, but always as a student (J1 working visa) or tourist for maximum three months stay. Should I add the addresses where I stayed ?
Thank you !

Hi Simon,
Just wondering if a marriage certificate is considered enough evidence for a change of name – or do I need to get the actual change of name document as well? I’m in Australia and was married here.
Thanks
Mala
