Possibly. I don’t have any way to check since I don’t have an active case myself.

Hello Brit,
I was selected DV2019. Before I submit DS-260 may I ask.
I live in the U.S. and it’s my present address. I have valid US visa but I want to go CP interview in my home country.
So what do I need to do DS-260 are
I choose “Interview location” my home country.
I fill “Present Address” U.S. address where I live now.
Or I need to fill my home country address (using my parents address) even I don’t live now?
I checked your website, “Interview location is normally based on your current address.
This makes me confused?
August 2, 2018 at 13:58
Fill in the correct USA address and then email KCC explaining you want to do CP. They will make the change.
August 2, 2018 at 08:08
As far as I know, you have to include all zeros. Try it.
August 2, 2018 at 06:41
Hi Simon,
I completed the DS 260 on 23 May again unlocked it and submitted in 29 May. Today i wanted to check the ceac site and print the ds 260, entering the my correct case number and date of birth. But it shows the following message:
“The case information you entered does not match our records. Please try again or contact the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) by email ([email protected]) or by phone (Public Inquiry Phone Number 606-526-7500 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EDT Monday – Friday) for further assistance. ” What to do to retrive the information.. Any help?

Hi Simon…
thanks for your help
I have interview in next week …
the embassy didn’t ask me to do the medical test & the DHL….but I did it.
1-Is that a problem??
2-why they didn’t ask???
August 2, 2018 at 13:54
1. No
2. They expect people to read the instructions.
August 2, 2018 at 20:16
thank you very much….
God bless you
August 2, 2018 at 05:40
Hi Brit, thank you for your contentious support and effort, I always refer the posts and comments written on your website. My wife won Dv2018 with case 2018AF0001**** and she is on appointment on early September. my Q? is we missed appointment and we all registered in the appointment system, now she is the only one who get the appointment. Do you think this will affect our visa processing? Our DS-260 status say ready for interview.
August 2, 2018 at 13:54
The courier registration is not so important. What is important is the interview itself.
August 2, 2018 at 04:15
Hi Brit!
Another question (sorry for all of them, I know it’s a lot but I received 2NL and I think I am freaking out). This website cgifederal.secure.force.com, what’s that ? Is it only to confirm where you want your passports to be send? I think I screw something up there, I need to call them and fix that and since every AP is in risk, I was wondering if it has any impact on my case…
Thank you!
August 2, 2018 at 04:19
It’s just for delivery of your passport, nothing that would cause denial. Calm down.
August 2, 2018 at 04:41
Yea, I am just thinking about putting my case to AP, not denial. thank you anyway 🙂
August 2, 2018 at 02:49
Hi,
I received NL2 but my case number shown as at xarthisius data At NVC. is it normal ?
August 2, 2018 at 03:05
Are you sure you are checking the correct region?
August 2, 2018 at 03:55
Yes i am. I just checked again.
August 2, 2018 at 04:05
And does CEAC itself show at NVC?
https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx
August 2, 2018 at 18:34
How i must write case number ? it says Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number.
August 2, 2018 at 18:40
Remove the leading zeros. So – 2018AF000012345 is entered as 2018AF12345
August 2, 2018 at 13:37
We haven’t finished checking for September 2NLs yet. The list on the website is incomplete.
August 1, 2018 at 22:08
Hey Brit I would like to thank you for your efforts, I’m a 2018 dv lottery winner and I have my appointment scheduled in late September. in 2011 I had traveled to Italy with a 90 day work visa, the problem is that I did remain there even after my visa expired and I was an illegal immigrant for more than a year within this period I traveled between Italy France Spain Belgium and I had no fixed address, at the beginning of 2013 I turned back to my country by my own not deported with stamps on my passport. my question: is this gonna affect on my visa interview when the immigration officer will ask me about my previous travel outside my country is there a possibility of refusal ?
Thank you
August 1, 2018 at 22:14
I doubt it, but I really don’t know for certain.
August 1, 2018 at 21:27
Hello Brit thanks for taking out time to help us via this plate form . Am Lydia a 2017 DV winner. Had my interview July 24th and got my visa. My worry is how can i change the address I gave when i filled my DS 260. The owner of the address has travelled thus she can not receive my green card and other documents when they arrive.
August 1, 2018 at 21:41
When you arrive in the USA you can change that address at the POE (arrival airport). Make CERTAIN you do that, otherwise your GC will be sent to the address on the DS260.
August 8, 2018 at 20:29
Ok, thanks alot
August 1, 2018 at 21:13
Dear Simon, Hope you are fine!
I’m preparing for September interview and I have couple of questions if you don’t mind:
1. My sponsor is a close friend of our family, if it can be proven is it convincing for CO, I mean being a friend is it enough to convince CO that he is willingly to support?
2. My sponsor said to me that he had already issued an affidavit of support to someone else around 2 years ago but as I understand it was’t for DV winner but for another type of visa, should that impact me?
3. Do they take fingerprints of young children, I have a 3-year old son and that might be difficult to take his fingerprints.
Thank you in advance,
Best Regards
August 1, 2018 at 21:16
1. Possibly.
2. Possibly.
3. Not as far as I know.
August 1, 2018 at 21:31
Then Simon for point no. 2 should I ask him any more details, such as how many people he has sponsored, for how long and so on so that I may know beforehand whether I risk or not?
Thanks again
August 1, 2018 at 21:40
That is up to you. Getting another sponsor may be safer.
August 3, 2018 at 12:13
Dear Simon,
Hope I am not disturbing with another question.
I spoke with my sponsor and he said to me that he will provide the following documents:
1. Singed form I-134
2. Photocopy of his ID
3. Tax return transcript the form 1040
4. w2 form for the job held
5. A letter from his employer stating the work position and monthly salary (he has told me that he has enough income to cover my expenses)
My question is “Will that be enough for the Embassy?”, is there anything else they may require from him?
Thank you very much,
Best Regards
August 3, 2018 at 13:48
Enough
August 1, 2018 at 20:35
(Please note that DV-2019 entries submitted between October 18, 2017 and November 22, 2017 are valid for checking your status. DV-2019 entries submitted before October 18 are invalid.)
Is it means that there were another chance for the un winner in 2019
August 1, 2018 at 21:12
That pasted phraswe does NOT mean that – but yes, there might be a second draw.
August 1, 2018 at 19:54

August 1, 2018 at 20:21
1. https://britsimonsays.com/dv2019-basic-questions/
2. You should update your DS260 with the passport number.
August 1, 2018 at 19:32
Hi Simon!
Any conclusions about Xarthisius data update? I know I can make my own, but I don’t really understand that. For EU there 16772 visas already issued and 3984 ready cases. The ratio for ready:issued is about 1:1 (including derivatives, no shows, refused ect…). So EU is gonna be way above it’s quota, right?
August 1, 2018 at 20:18
Many of those ready cases are no shows from previous months. I did just publish an update from the latest file: https://britsimonsays.com/thanks-for-the-scraping-effort/
August 1, 2018 at 18:37
Hello
I a winner of dv 2019
When I put my case number and my date of birth,it opens.
But when I put the date of birth for my wife it does not open, does it mean I put the wrong date of birth in my initial application?
If so, will this be a serious issue?
I thought either me or my wife can logon ..www.ceac.state.gov?with our date of birth!
Please advise
August 1, 2018 at 19:25
It is all done within your case.
August 2, 2018 at 02:07
Meaning we have hope.or we will be disqualified?
August 2, 2018 at 02:09
What has this got to do with disqualification? Calm down and think about what you are doing.
August 1, 2018 at 18:22
I’m from Venezuela. My DV-2018 case is 2017. I saw the visa bulletin for September is 1715. Is basically my case will not be process?
August 1, 2018 at 19:23
Correct. Your number is too high.
August 1, 2018 at 14:58
Brit hello i have interview in 6 september if i would get on AP how long time it will take
August 1, 2018 at 19:21
Let me check my crystal ball and get back to you….
August 1, 2018 at 14:30
Hi brit
I want to know about these things
I have won my green card lottery with 3 visas . And I hope to travel to the US without my spouse and my son. can they join with me before the 3 months
or Should they travel with me to USA
August 1, 2018 at 19:18
As long as they enter the USA before their visas expire that is OK.
August 1, 2018 at 12:39
Hi BritSimon, thanks for all your answers.
My case number is 2018AF2XXXX.
I applied for DV-2018 lottery with my 2 kids only, because I was not married.
I submitted our three DS-260 in May 2018.
By then end of June 2018, KCC told me by phone that my applications were processed and pending further embassy review.
Then I got married in July and we submitted my wife’s DS-260 around the 10th of July. We immediately got her confirmation number, and it appeared as “completed” in CEAC website, like the 3 other forms.
I called KCC to inquire on July 19, and I was told that I was scheduled for an interview in September.
I asked about my spouse DS-260, but I was told that KCC stopped processing DS-260s at the end of June, so they probably didn’t review it, and that since I’m scheduled, I will have to deal with the embassy directly for further questions or updates.
Indeed I got the 2NL the same day, but the letter included only me and my 2 kids.
1) Is it because I first applied to the lottery as single with my 2 kids ?
Or does it mean that my wife was not included in the interview and no visa was allocated for her ?
2) Then I registered the appointment on the embassy website and could add an appointment for each of the 4 of us, but I guess it doesn’t mean she is expected at the interview and that a visa is also allocated for her, right ?
3) My case status on CEAC is “In Transit” since July 19 (2 weeks). Does it mean that it is useless to try to contact the embassy because they don’t know about my case yet, and I have to wait until status becomes “ready” ? Or ignore the status ?
August 1, 2018 at 19:18
Why on earth did you leave this until JULY to marry and submit your spouse????
So – contact the embassy – and ask if your spouse is expected at the interview. If not, it is possible that she will not get a visa because a visa was not allocated.
August 1, 2018 at 12:34
Hi Simon,
in my yesterday post to my question:
My son, included in the DS260, was 20 when I enrolled for the DV2018. Now he is 22. in CEAC he originally showed up for the interview, now there’s only me and my wife: do you think he should come to the interview anyway and therefore paying the consular fees even if most likely (or surely) he does not get the GC?
you did answer:
No. He has aged out. You need to think about that because it will not be possible to sponsor him for several years, so he cannot live with you in the USA.
Now, do you mean he cannot be sponsored by US as a family for several years or also by ANY other US company?
That’s important to us to know. in case he found a job and the Company is willing to sponsor him?
Thanks Simon and have a good day,
Fausto
August 1, 2018 at 18:59
He can get his own visa, but be aware that employment based visas are not easy to obtain. He would have to be highly educated and able to perform a job that is hard to fill.
August 1, 2018 at 11:53
Hi Brit
Could i be denied Visa if i played DV twice in a year?
August 1, 2018 at 18:56
I hope so.
August 1, 2018 at 11:40
hi , i m a 2019AF dv winner , i lived in ukraine for about 5 years i studied there , can my case be in AP for a long time , i noticed that cases with backgroud are put in AP
m question here is can they put me in AP
August 1, 2018 at 18:56
They “can” put any case in AP. Whether yours will need AP or not – I don’t know.
August 1, 2018 at 11:00
Hi brit, many many thanks for your advice earlier. I am from nepal. Do I need to submit the tax return bill of my sponsor along with i-134 and welcome letter for the interview?

August 1, 2018 at 10:56
hey brit.. ı filled the ds 260 married. but before interview , ı have decided to divorce from my wifi . so , how can ı manage all progress in embassy in september interview ? what do you suggest me to do ? in my country divorcing cases take much time . not less than a few months
August 1, 2018 at 18:54
Sometimes my wifi really annoys me too. I can’t download movies as fast as I would like. 😉
If you are the principal selectee – you can proceed to interview by yourself.
August 1, 2018 at 10:36
Hi brit, my interview is in august 6 iam from Nepal, the thing is while signing in on CEAC site with my case number and date of birth , the site shows the detail dosnt match the record! Although I used to retrive previously filled up ds 260 data before the side got down! Although I ve conformation letter , does it affect interview , is there any thing I have to do to solve the problem?
August 1, 2018 at 18:51
I don’t know what your problem actually is – so I don’t know what to tell you.
August 1, 2018 at 07:56
hi brit my name is dim my CN is 2019AF0002XX i have completed and submit my DS260 without my passport as it was at state administration services for delivrery but now i have got it and when i try to add it in my DS 260 i can’t what can i do? 2.when did you think i could receive my 2NL?
August 1, 2018 at 18:47
You need to unlock your DS260. Read the FAQ about that.
August 1, 2018 at 01:42
Hi Simon,
I’ve been reading your blog intensely for the past 2 weeks since we found out we’ve been selected for dv2019. My husband, the primary applicant, mistakenly swapped the first and the last name, hence the inability to check sooner, so sure we weren’t inputting anything wrong. Now I know there is nothing we can do about it but to put the correct info in the ds260, which we did.
I searched and read about cases like this, but I couldn’t find out their outcome. So I was wondering if you have come across a similar case that got the GC?
EU6XXX we meet all the requirements and no criminal records, shady past or anything…
Thank you!
August 1, 2018 at 02:15
Usually such cases are approved.
August 1, 2018 at 00:20
hi i saw the dv charts for the 2015 and 2017, what i don t understand is the AP and READY cases what about them , they have been terminated by the end of september ?
August 1, 2018 at 02:14
Yes. They just stay in whatever status they were in at Sept 30.
July 31, 2018 at 23:20
hi Brits,
i can’t thank you enough for the great work you are doing may the good Lord bless you.
My worry is i won the 2017 dv when i was still preparing to write my exams, so while waiting for my results i had my interview and was expected to come back with my results and collect my visa package but unfortunately i didn’t pass so this year i had the results with the pass grades so i want to find out if i can still go to the embassy with the results even though it was last year??
please i’ll be grateful to your response
July 31, 2018 at 23:54
They cannot approve a visa after the end of the year – so no.
July 31, 2018 at 19:44
Hi Brit!
Thank you for all your responses. I hope your well.
I’m getting married next Friday.
1) My wife was selected can I send a request to KCC to unlock DS260 so she could add me or we just have to wait after Friday?
2) Also when the DS-260 will be unlocked can we change location of interview or is it going to be unlocked partially by segments? 3)I got your response that the location is selected by the place which I’m currently living, is there a chance to change it? Or we going to cause a problem since we already send the request to KCC about changing location? Is there any solution to changing location or should we stick to the current?
4) We got CS EU44XX do you think interview will be this year?
Once more thank you for all your help,
Regards
July 31, 2018 at 20:35
1. Unlock now, submit after the wedding.
2. You can change your address. They choose the location based on your address.
3. I think that is answered already.
4. Possibly.
July 31, 2018 at 18:56
Mr Simon
Cease. State Gov site was closed for mintinace for tow weeks.. After it worked again today I opened my ds-260 form to check out I found there is expiration date in the up right corner in my personal information page . Is this something new or it was there.. And what that expiration date means
July 31, 2018 at 19:08
Ignore it.
July 31, 2018 at 17:26
Dear Sir,
I attended the DV visa interview with the embassy on 26th July and on the same day the statues changed to ‘ISSUED’. I attend the interview on Thursday. Friday and Saturday are weekend in this part of the world. Today is 31st July (Tuesday) and I am yet to get my passport with the Visa.
Do you know estimated how long will it take to get back your passport? Is it normal for it to take these number of day?
Thanks
July 31, 2018 at 17:50
Normal. Takes 1 to 2 weeks.
July 31, 2018 at 16:30
Hi there,
I surfed this websites, tons of info so thanks tons for that. After reading some of the posts I started worrying – my case No is 2019EU000182XX, do I actually have a chance… I know this is not a question to be asked, but personally, from the statistics perspective, your thoughts on my chances (before the places get filled up)? Thanks!
July 31, 2018 at 16:38
This post has your answer
https://britsimonsays.com/dv2019-basic-questions/
July 31, 2018 at 15:17
Hi Simon, I have been scheduled for interview in September.
1. Do you think I will know for sure at the end of the interview if I get the GC? I am asking you this because you said that in case of AP’s in September will be too late.
3. I know it seems strange but I could not find anywhere if the documentation that we must bring to the interview must be for me only or also for my wife and little children (I am the selectee). Even in the consular website this is not specified.
Thanks very much for your feedback.
Kind regards,
Fausto
July 31, 2018 at 16:05
1. I don’t have a crystal ball.
2. No. He has aged out. You need to think about that because it will not be possible to sponsor him for several years, so he cannot live with you in the USA.
3. In your 1NL you had a link to the instructions with clear answers to that. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/diversity-visa-program-entry/diversity-visa-if-you-are-selected.html
August 1, 2018 at 07:53
Thank you very much Simon! I really appreciate your help!
July 31, 2018 at 14:07
Hi Simone,
In my African locality where i used to live, not all are privy to good internet and camera to be able to process original entries for the dv lottery (dv lottery requires sized pictures). somewhere last year, one tertiary student came over with his electronic gadgets and took pictures and processed entry forms for interested individuals. most of us filled paper forms which he said will be transferred into the dv lottery site. he took GH¢20.00 ($4.50) per person. he claimed we were many so after collecting the money, documents and pictures he will make the entry on our behalf. he also promised to get in touch with winners. i am sure he did the entry and i alone have won. he has showed me a letter dated 15th may 208 with my correct name but different postal address, its on a united states crown letter head. he refused to give me the document. he is demanding GH¢ 9,142.00 ($2,000.00).
i reported the matter to the CID and the CID said it is a civil matter so i should take him to court. civil matter? how can i pay a lawyer? he did not use my email, post office number and my telephone number on purpose and this is not criminal?
A. i want to know, can i block the use of the win because i have heard a lot that, people sell other peoples win out for big money
B. if i don’t get the win from him can i try the entry this year again?
B. also, i have all my legitimate documents (basic to tertiary certificates including national service cert) with me, he does not have any copy or idea about the way it looks so can i get attention if i send them to the KCC people. (if possible i can add my email, post office number, telephone number, the scanned police report on myself as proof of existence)
C. i need direction so nothing will affect me and my chances someday if i am not going to US with my win now. i do not know the help i can get now. we should not be made to pay for not having good and affordable technology to make dv lottery entries. please help ok
i dont want to believe its a crushed dream
July 31, 2018 at 14:38
A. Probably not.
B. Yes, although he might continue entering you which could disqualify you.
B2. Best to forget about this “win” because you have no idea if he did anything right.
C. Forget about this DV win this year. You wasted $4.50. Leave it at that. The lesson you should learn is to not be so trusting of strangers.
July 31, 2018 at 13:18
Hi Simon,
I have obtained the GC with my family and I landed almost a year ago, I know that I need to go now and stay before the year ends but does this apply for my family as well or can they enter the country and stay for a week and then leave?
July 31, 2018 at 14:21
Read the FAQ about absences.
July 31, 2018 at 09:38
Hi my name is abdirahman i would to ask you when i am attending my interview can i bring leaving certificate and result sleep becouse i have not got my kcse certificate?
July 31, 2018 at 14:07
Take all you can.
July 31, 2018 at 07:52
Hi Brit,
The consulate told us to renew the passport and access the DS to change, but the ceac website is currently unavailable and has been so for more than a week. We cannot say for how long.
Please, do you think we can get the new passport and present both to the interview, without changing it on DS?
Interview is on September 6, EU
Thanks.
July 31, 2018 at 13:58
Yes
July 31, 2018 at 05:55

Hello Brit,
I’m the principal applicant of DV2019 with case number 2019AF54xx.
I play with my wife using a hyphenated surname (her surname plus mine surname) in the initial application but in filling the DS260 form for uniformity, the hyphen can’t be accepted at the surname area but I had to space the both surnames.
Secondly, the production of my son birth certificate spelled out his full name name but when obtaining his passport, they abbreviated his middle name.
Is it a problem? Do I need to fix a new birth certificate to match his abbreviated middle name In his passport?
Your advice Brit…….

You don’t “fix” birth certs to match other documents.
The spouse should also be OK.

Hi,
Me again, sorry to bother you with questions with probably obvious answers but I currently live in the US and I will go with the Consular Process for my interview (so going back to Paris in September).
I am gathering the require documents and for the Police Certificate the travel.state.gov website says that current resident in the US “should NOT obtain any police certificates covering their residence in the United States”, this part is pretty clear for me.
However when going to the US embassy website of my home country (France : https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/list-of-posts.html => the Paris PDF) they say that I should bring the “original police certificate from your country of current residence” without specifying that if the current country is US it’s not needed.
1/ What should I do? Get a Police certificate from the US?
2/ if Yes is it the FBI one : https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks?
Thanks

1. No. Their instruction is obviously generic. No police certs needed for USA.
2. N/A

Hi Simon,
I have couple of traffic tickets in New York, which are not paid for about 10 years.
Should I pay for these tickets before going to the interview?
Thanks!
July 31, 2018 at 00:33
I have no idea – but in general you should always pay your bills.

Hello Mr Simon
When i check my profile on ustraveldocs.com I realized that my status there shows ESCALATED with the email I send to them.
To your own understanding what does it mean to my AP
Thank you

Hi BritSimon – I am a Sponsor for a 2019 Lottery winner (AF39xxx).
I have a couple of questions for him.
When he originally submitted the DS260 he put that his work was in Agriculture. (since it is a family business and he works for his father – he planned to take a copy of the land deeds to prove he works in a family business). Its in Algeria.. However since this land was handed down by his great grandfather the papers are missing.
1) Would this paper have been important and necessary to prove he worked for his father at the Interview?
2) Does he need to now unlock his DS260 and change his information to “not employed”.
I am concerned that unlocking and adjusting his work status will cause a problem because he DOES work – just that there is no direct proof.
Thanks for your best advice!
(ps -as u know there is a problem with the website – its down right now).

1. No – pointless.
2. No
July 31, 2018 at 00:42
would you mind elaborating on why its pointless?
Thanks

It cannot help. He either meets the education standard, or doesn’t. If he does, then work history is not checked. If he doesn’t, working for his Dad won’t help.

Nothing.

Hi Brit,
Any word on whether or not DV2018’s Visas have all been exhausted?
I attended my AOS interview earlier and the officer told me that I’d need to wait until after September to see if they have Visas available for my Spouse and myself.
I, naively corrected him that my number has become current back in May and that my Visa should be available immediately. I didn’t know back then about the DV Visas possibly have all been exhausted for the year. After I did further research in the past couple hours, now I realize that this is a possibility.
Have you heard from any sources if indeed the DV 2018 visas have been exhausted? And considering this is not even August yet.
And I am on the AOS path. Hopeully that can give you a better context of my situation.
Thank you so much, Simon!

Hi Brit,
2019 DV lottery selectee here; I have been following the comments from Donald Trump regarding his aims to kill off the US DV lottery. He has most recently threatened to shut down the government in order to get this passed in congress in September. I have also noticed support for this from more moderate republicans (like Jeb Bush) recently. If you look at the news, the future of the DV lottery does not look good.
So, I guess my question is, if this does get passed in congress, can they stop the 2019 DV program or will they allow this years program to be completed first.
I remember, the muslim ban was pretty immediate leading to some people getting stopped at the airport.

I have answered this question so many times. The point is – don’t worry about laws being changed overnight.
August 1, 2018 at 07:28
Would you please explain more, im also afraid by the tweets thretened dv dreamers.
August 1, 2018 at 18:45
Really – I can’t be bothered to discuss it over again every time that moron tweets some stupid comment. Unless the law changes, nothing wil change. Trump cannot change the laws himself.

Dear Sir
My husband is a Quantity Surveyor but when we move to USA its unsure if will be able to find that title job as we saw they are very less in the job market, and people who went there have been doing other jobs which can earn around USD 2000 per month ( Odd job )
1. So i need to know from your experience can we be able to survive if we find that kind job ( we have 1 baby too ) ??
2. If we dont find any permanent for my husband , will there be any enough job opportunities available in any filed ( odd job full time ) that a green card new comer can be hired ? we are gonna move to NC, cary.
Thanks for u Brit. Doing great job for all of us. God bless.
July 31, 2018 at 00:20
1. 2000 per month is quite low. It would be enough in some parts of the country – but certainly not everywhere.
2. I have no idea about that area.
