Hi Brit, Thanks for everything you are doing to help us to go thorough this process.
I have a question regarding vaccination, I have set the vaccination documentation to YES, assuming i’m going to take vaccinated while I was on my medical stage of the process.
But i don’t have any documentations about any vaccinations. what shall I do? should I unlock my DS260 and change the answer to NO? the problem is my cases are CURRENT and already received document submitted congrats email.
Thanks
November 3, 2019 at 16:36
No would have been the better answer, but you don’t need to change it.

Hi, I’m an undergrad in the US and I will graduate in 2020 spring. I’ve just submitted the DV application for 2021, does that mean that I cannot apply for OPT after graduation in 2020? If not, is there anything I can do? Thank you.
November 4, 2019 at 15:13
No problem in applying for OPT.

November 3, 2019 at 08:02
Hi Simon,
I cannot seem to enter the website. I go to the application site and begin entry, I enter the authorization code (captcha) click to submit, the website tells me my session expired (while it has actually never started) and asks me to begin entry again. I enter authorization code, it tells me session expired, it asks me to begin entry again (…) etc. Have you heard of this before? I tried three browsers on two devices now. I used incognito mode, flushed DNS, deleted cookies, used a vpn to go in through different country IP, but the problem persists. Any ideas what could be the issue?
November 3, 2019 at 16:43
Several people reported the same thing. Try again after a few hours.
November 3, 2019 at 11:17
Hello Brit,
It appears from some of the comments so far that some more questions have been added to the DS-260. I am a selectee for DV 2020. My Case No. is AF00014xxx, and at the time I started completing my DS-260 in June, there was no question on social media presence. However, by the time I submitted in July, It appeared. I responded appropriately and submitted.
1. Do you think it is necessary to request KCC to unlock just because of the additional questions so we can respond to them as well?
2. Will it be dangerous to assume KCC/Consular Officers might consider time of submission vis-a-vis the non-response to the new questions?
3. Would you advice I inquire from KCC the need to unlock because of these additional question?
I have submitted both DS-260 and requested documents and I foresee my case no. becoming current in the next VB.

November 3, 2019 at 11:20
Hello Brit. Can someone fill the DV application entry form during weekends ?
November 3, 2019 at 16:47

November 3, 2019 at 11:27
Hi Simon,
in case I win the DV2021, would I be able to travel to the States in July 2020 without any problems? I currently have a 10 year B1 Visa.
It wouldn’t be my activation trip, as the interview would be much later that year or the following.. still just wondering.
Greetings from Germany!
November 3, 2019 at 16:48
No problem.
November 3, 2019 at 12:20

November 3, 2019 at 13:13
Hi, Brit! I have tried to fill the form for dv-2021 several times, but there were some problems with the website. When I managed to do that I understood that I filled the line “in care of” with my address (street and building) and Address line with my flat number. I really hate myself. Is it a big mistake? Is it a disqualification? Thank you for your answer.
November 3, 2019 at 16:56
Not important. Relax.
November 3, 2019 at 13:19
Hello Brit,
My case number AS27xxx DV2020 and my questions as follows:
I read a post you answered on 1st November for the DS260 part “.. you have received vaccinations in accordance with US laws”.
1. I answered “Yes”, but I don’t have the vaccination card, alternatively I have a statement by Health Ministry on the Vaccinations we received on due age while child. Will this be acceptable or must change answer to “No”.
2. If I have to change my answer in DS260 for the above, can I still unlock while I already submitted Supporting Documents for me and derivatives as requested by KCC.
3. We are not sure about the Vaccinations we had if it meets US laws, how to fix this afterwards, will it be during health examination for visa interview?
4. The part in DS260 regarding Previous Travel to USA and specifically “The Information on previous Visas and Rejections”, we have 3 Visas in file and 2 recent rejections, I answered the same in DS260, will the recent rejections be a cause for denial DV Visa?
Thanks,
November 3, 2019 at 16:58
All of this is why I tell people to answer no to the vaccinations question. But it doesn’t affect the case, so no need to change.
4. Probably not. It depends why they rejected you.
November 3, 2019 at 19:30
Thanks Brit,
On point 4, I had off my children born in US, and CO requested proof of payment for the birth of my children, which I did not keep records, I managed clearance statement from hospital and Dr’s clinic. The hospital room paid by MC insurance, while medication, Dr fees, and extras paid cash. Will this continue to be a hurdle for DV Visa.
November 4, 2019 at 14:30
Possibly.
November 5, 2019 at 09:19
Dear Simon,
You know the importance of this opportunity for us, and I heartily need your advise on how to manage for a successful interview.
1. Since financial circumstances changed form the date of using insurance 6 years ago, is there an option to repay insurance?
2. Will CO be aware about the insurance case without we tell.
November 6, 2019 at 03:04
1. I don’t know.
2. I don’t know.
November 3, 2019 at 14:01
Hi Simon, if only 1 child from family is sitizen of US, sould we add him in application?
November 3, 2019 at 16:59
No
November 3, 2019 at 14:52
Hi Brit,
Thank you for all the videos and information you post.
I have 2 questions regarding filling in the name in the DV-2021 online application:
Q1: My name in my Jordanian Passport is: Badie A. M. B. Sharbaji, as in Jordan the format on all legal documents is given name, father name, grandfather, family name.
Badie being the first name, A. M. B. is for my father and grandfather (father being Ahmad Maher and grandfather is Badie) Sharbaji is my family name, in Arabic in the Passport the father and grandfather names are spelled in full but are abbreviated in English.
So do I write A. M. B. in the middle name section? do I leave it blank or do I write the names with full spelling?
Q2: My wife has a Tajik passport, and in English it only mentions her first and family name, but in the Cyrillic script on the passport it adds her father’s name as well. Do I add my wife’s father name in the DV application form or not? and as the question above, if yes do I write it in the middle name section?
November 3, 2019 at 17:05
On both of these questions, use your own judgement as to what is the legal name.
November 3, 2019 at 14:59
Dear Britsimon!
My Aunt asked me to help her to apply for DVlottery2021 as she had High school Diploma but she does not know English, and now she has 2 sons (1 son under 21 years old, and another son is 22 years old) and one daughter. For the Initial Entry, for the first try, I put number of children 3, but the system informed about error about one son (YOU MUST ENTER A FOUR DIGIT BIRTH YEAR FROM 1998 TO 2019 IN THE BOX), I tried for many times but still impossible, so I listed out the son over 21 years old, and just put number of children 2 (son under 21, and 1 daughter). Can you tell me it is correct or not? If she wins next year, will she become disqualified because she has 3 children, but I could just put 2 children because the system did not allow me to do for 3.
Thanks with best regards!
November 3, 2019 at 17:06
2 was correct.
November 3, 2019 at 15:08
Dear Sir,
I went to apply for GC today. I was submitting the completed form and was getting an error from Google Chrome after pressing Submit that ‘This site can’t be reached’. I then tried several things and noticed that the problem is only when uploading the photo I cannot continue after pressing Submit and get the error above. The photo is as photo instructions(after cropped on photo tool) and 104KB. I also disabled Firewall or tried Explorer or tried other photos but there is again this problem after I pressed Submit button. Do you know if this a problem with their website?
Can I do something sir?
Thank you and waiting for your reply dear Simon. Thank you
November 3, 2019 at 17:06
Try again later.
November 3, 2019 at 15:09

November 3, 2019 at 16:30
Hi Brit. Hope all is well and thanks once more for all the help you are giving us. Quite recently I sent a message which you deemed not clear enough hence you couldn’t reply my questions. I later made the message made it clear and I hope you caught the drift now. Unfortunately I have still not gotten your feedback. I was wondering whether you forgot about it or I should rather exercise more patience for your reply?
Please I have some more questions:
1) should we pay visa fees for our 2 year old child?
2) should we get her a passport?
3)should we buy her flight ticket as well?
Heartfelt thanks.
November 3, 2019 at 17:16
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes.
I answered your earlier question. I did not answer the later clarifications, because I had already told you my answer the first time.

Thanks for an informative site Simon. Whilst I have US visa compliant pictures for almost my whole family, I do not have one for an adult child (under 21) that has no interest in ever moving to the US. I appreciate I have to enter the names of all children, but there is also a prompt to upload a picture for each child, which I don’t have for one. Do you have any suggestions, and if a compliant picture cannot be uploaded for every derivative, will that likely be a cause of automatic rejection?
November 4, 2019 at 14:36
You can’t submit without adding each child under 21 and the system requires the photo. I have to other suggestions.
November 3, 2019 at 21:14

Another question. My passport is expiring 20 May 2020, if I manage to get a new one my surname and my passport number will changed. If I apply as a main principal and happen to be selected will it affect the results negatively?

Hi brit,
Is it necessary to get an employment reference letter ?
November 4, 2019 at 14:37
No
November 4, 2019 at 00:41
Hey Simon,
Have you ever heard of a Consulate/Embassy not receiving the Case File from KCC in time for the scheduled interview? I’ve been trying to reschedule my interview for a month now, and the Sydney Consulate claim they still have not received it from KCC after 2 months (KCC did confirm with me via email that they did send it to Sydney’s Consulate). Just seems odd that the consulate has not received the Case File from KCC in time for the original proposed interview date…
November 4, 2019 at 14:38
No. There is a misunderstanding somewhere.
November 4, 2019 at 01:29
Hey Simon, been following your blog for a while now and i really appreciate the content youre providing
So basically i live in a place where all the photography studios are only offering the dv type photos in a package where they also submit your entry, so i had to take them myself at home ,i’ve checked the photo examples listed on the the “travel state” site and mine seem o.k but im still really paranoid about it so i was wondering if theres a way to contact you privately so you can have a look at them? i would just post them here or on the dv forum but im worried some sicko might maliciously use them to have me disqualified :/
TL;DR: is there any way i can send you my dv photos so you can check if they meet the requirements?
November 4, 2019 at 14:39
No – I cannot do that. Read the instructions and use your own judgement.
November 4, 2019 at 01:30

Dear Simon
I am from Afghanistan and lived in Pakistan too for the couple of years. Now KCC wants me Police Certificate from Afghanistan and Pakistan.
According the US Department of State website, those who lived in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and/Iran does not need to provide Police Certificate. (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/KBL-Kabul.html#pre_interview_checklist )
Also; Afghanistan Government is not giving us the hard copy of Police Certificate and just sending the document to the specific embassy.
Please help me that what should I do? and how should I justify it for KCC?
November 4, 2019 at 15:03
As the instructions say – you don’t provide a police cert for Afghanistan and Pakistan.
November 4, 2019 at 07:49
Hi Simon,
Can one register in the DV 2021 when one has already been selected in the previous year of entry (DV 2020) and has his/her case currently in process?
Can the DV 2021 entry lead to the disaqualification of one’s processing case of the previous year?
November 4, 2019 at 15:05
No problem.
November 4, 2019 at 08:22
Hi,
I have been married for 10 years with 2 children but no longer married. Traditionally, there are several stages to marriage and we only did the introduction part then i realized things were not working for us. The dowry stage was not reached and according to our tradition it is not complete. Since there are no documents to support traditional marriages especially now that mine did not reach the final stage of paying the bride price, What is your advice regarding that considering i ticked LEGALLY SEPARATED?
Thank you.
November 4, 2019 at 15:06
Unmarried (but listing your children).
November 4, 2019 at 08:26

Hi,
What do you think, would it be sufficient for a family of 3 (me, wife, daughter) about $20.000 in our bank account and job offers for both me and my wife, rather than I-134 because we cant get it ? Please give me a full answer/explanation.
November 4, 2019 at 15:16
Please read my article about 134. Use the search above.
November 4, 2019 at 17:19
Simon i have read it. I know I 134 is the best choice, but i cant find a sponsor. Therefore Im asking for your opinion, is over $20k and 2 job offers for me and my wife sufficient to get the visa?
November 4, 2019 at 17:37
Possibly. It will be up to the CO.
November 4, 2019 at 11:48

Dear sir
I’m a dv2020 Asian region winner.my caze nb is AS25XXX.and I’m from Sri Lanka. When I apply for dv2020 my daughter was 20years old. Now she is 21 years old. But I have read that it will not be a problem.
As my daughter selected for university in srilanka she wishes to stay in sri lanka for her studies(4years). I have already submitted our ds260 forms also. If we could get our visas in our interview, should my daughter go to USA with us? Can’t she come to us after getting her degree in four years? What should we do to keep valid her green card?

PLEASE HELP
Hi. I am having trouble completing the DV 2021 lottery entry. I can go through STEP1 which is about myself, but cannot go through STEP2 where I put information of my wife and daughter. Every time I try to complete STEP2 and hit CONTINUE button at the bottom, my browser says “This site can’t be reached”. I have checked your videos, used another PC I have, used different browsers, used incognito mode of chrome, used the official photo cropping tools. It’s all my fault doing this in a very last minute, but any information will be appreciated.
