Dear brit,
I got visa on September 2020 and got married on December. Do i have to inform any authorities about this before i travel to US or after getting there?
DV2020
March 15, 2021 at 02:56
You cannot add your spouse now, so the only option is to enter the USA, then file to bring your spouse. That will take about 2 years.
March 14, 2021 at 08:16
Hey Brit,
When you have some time over, is it possible we could get a quick rundown of what the difference would mean of joining Charles vs Curtis lawsuit for schengen applicants (price and representation aside, more so in terms of speed of relief for DV cases since Charles has more visa types in it I guess?)?
Many thanks .
March 15, 2021 at 02:55
The price is 1500 versus 3000.
Speed of relief – I can’t guess.

Hello Simon,
Thank you so much for all your support. My family and I are Anunciato plaintiffs, cn EU29xxx, and we have submitted the ds260 in august 2020 but were not yet requested to send the docs. I heard you saying many times to send documents to KCC for everyone at this moment. My question is, if we are Anuniato plaintiffs, should we wait on Judge decision before sending the docs, or is it the right time to send the docs now?
Many thanks!
Victor
March 15, 2021 at 02:54
Send the documents.
March 14, 2021 at 05:32
Dear Brit:
On the website of the US Department of State there is an Update on Public Charge dated August 7, 2020 stating that ……. Visa applicants are not required to complete or submit the questionnaire public charge DS-5540.
Is this valid for diversity visa applicants or should we bring this form to the interview?
March 15, 2021 at 01:42
No DS5540 needed.
March 14, 2021 at 05:29
Good morning Sir,
Could we take an idea from your knowledge at which cases number the confirmation email on document were reached in Asia to know if it is normal to be patient especially the cutoff reached 13000?
Pl if anyone in Asia got this email with case number over AS9000?
Really thank you because we notice this concern with many winners,
Thank you Sir
March 14, 2021 at 05:36
Hello Tony,
If you see the 2NL data (on the CEAC data 2021 page) you will see that the highest case number in Asia that received the 2NL is 5074 which suggests that they are still below 9000 in sending confirmation emails.
Have you sent an email to KC asking about your documents?
March 14, 2021 at 11:39
Hi Layan , yes many times and the same answer it is reviewing the documents , i suggest to send more and more emails it will help us to receive the confirmation and to show them we are serious about our cases and pl when you receive this email inform us thank you LAYAN , hope we will see you in USA soon.
March 14, 2021 at 14:15
Sure ..i am waiting till end of March, if the email does not show up I will send email asking about my documents .
It is a stressful experience but it is worth it especially during this horrible economic crisis.. we badly need it
March 15, 2021 at 03:00
Don’t send “more and more” emails. If they are wasting time answering repetitive emails, they could have spent that time scheduling cases.
March 15, 2021 at 01:43
You are overthinking.
March 14, 2021 at 08:08
Hi Toni, FYI, I am 2021AS8500, still not received documents confirmation email from KCC, it is kindly requested from others from AS to share , if they received this email
March 14, 2021 at 10:10
HI Kaz, Im als from asia region. I saw in a forum today that As 51xx got document confirmation recently. So wait n see.cheers
March 15, 2021 at 03:37
?
March 14, 2021 at 11:35
Thank you KAZ , we hope so
March 15, 2021 at 01:41
I don’t track that because it is not an important data point.
March 14, 2021 at 04:59
Hi Mr. Simon,
How long will take to receive SSN number once entered to the US?
March 14, 2021 at 15:11
2 weeks,if you fill yes on your ds260 to access your info for SSN.
March 15, 2021 at 01:40
Typically 2 to 3 weeks.
March 15, 2021 at 04:19
Thank you for the response.
Can i open a savings account and purchase a mobile sim card without my SSN?
March 16, 2021 at 02:21
Yes
March 14, 2021 at 04:45
Hello sir, I am DV 2020 winner and already in US. In my DS 260 form, my sponsor’s address is Virginia. now I am in Colorado (Nepal-Chicago Airport-Colorado). In Chicago, They changed the address in the outside of visa packet as I told I am going to Colorado. Now Should I send the message to USCIS to address change?
March 15, 2021 at 01:39
You are supposed to complete the address change form online, yes.
March 15, 2021 at 16:44
I don’t have USCIS account, how can I change sir, can I create new account and change? its already 15 days sir, is there any problem?
March 16, 2021 at 02:48
I don’t know.
March 13, 2021 at 23:15
Hi BritSimon
Great work.
Please I received this email from KCC after enquiring when interview will start.
Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvlottery.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.
Please what do u advise I do. My CN is AF630*
March 15, 2021 at 01:35
Wait. That email means you will get a 2NL in March.
March 13, 2021 at 23:10
Hi Mr Brit, i Got police certificate from Embassy of Ukraine in morocco, do i need to translate it to English and send it to kcc? what will i name the document? thank you mr Brit

March 13, 2021 at 21:51
hi Brit
There is a theory that says that the reason for the progress of the bulletin in this way is that Kentucky is trying to benefit as much as possible from open embassies, especially in light of the lack of many embassies, especially in Africa.
What do you think about that !!
March 15, 2021 at 01:32
It’s another theory.
March 13, 2021 at 21:10
good afternoon Sir ,2021AS110XX
1 – Sir ,do you think because of the backlog of processing documents that is why there are delays from kcc to send the confirmation email especially for the current cases?
2 – do you thing sending email about satisfying documents many times will make kcc to process my documents faster ?
thank you Sir
March 15, 2021 at 01:32
1. It’s because they stopped working for quite some time.
2. That could help some cases.
March 13, 2021 at 21:08
Hi Brit, I have a question, b4 the end of the FY is it possible for KCC to process all the CN that get current on the VB? Thanks
March 15, 2021 at 01:31
We have to wait and see.
March 13, 2021 at 21:07
Hi Simon. Hope you are doing well!
I am already current in the May visa bulletin. Case number EU12xxx. Should I expect a “ready for scheduling” email first, or is it possible that I will only receive the notification to check the dvlottery.state.gov website for available updates?
Thank you so much for all your efforts!
March 15, 2021 at 01:31
There is a possibility that you could miss the ready for scheduling email.
March 13, 2021 at 20:39
Hi Simon!
What do you think about Greg Siskind’s litigation? Is it pretty much the same as Curtis Morrison’s? Of course he has more visa categories – not only DV.
March 13, 2021 at 21:30
It is also half the price of what Curtis Morrison will charge you if you are to join his lawsuit.
March 15, 2021 at 01:32
Correct
March 15, 2021 at 01:30
It’s the same type of litigation as that of Curtis Morrison. Just as likely to succeed (which is VERY likely – almost certain).
March 13, 2021 at 20:37
Brit, Im from Srilanka and the embassy is currently opened. But so far no interviews for Dv 2021 has been scheduled. When we email n inquire they reply as this.
“Thanks for your email inquiry. You will be contacted by KCC when an interview is scheduleded.”
Can you please tell me what is the purpose of this reply? Is embassy going to start interviews in near future, or not doing any interviews at all?
March 14, 2021 at 16:21
when we going through CEAC Details there are some interview has been scheduled till case number 5k from some embassies located in Asian region At the moment US embassy in Sri Lanka is open and all most pandemic situation control in all over the country( Sri Lanka is in 88th Place in covid control country list) but there were no one got 2NL for interview. Dear Brit can we have any Suggestions?
March 15, 2021 at 03:05
Just patience.
March 15, 2021 at 01:26
I don’t know what their plans are.
March 13, 2021 at 19:51
Hello Brit, i sent the documents to KCC but i notice avast antivirus puts this in my email signature “Virus-free” you can check the image in the link:
https://i.ibb.co/7YLRZrP/signature.png
my question is could my documents not be processes because of this thing? thanks!
March 14, 2021 at 23:22
No problem.
March 13, 2021 at 19:29
Good evening Sir
I got the DV in 2018 in Tunisia and I decided to follow my procedure in France but since 2019 I have not continued.
I sent all the documents requested by mail
March 13, 2021 at 19:21
Hello Simon! My case no is 2021EU6xxx. I sent an e-mail in September with the documents and I received an automatic reply. In November I sent an e-mail to ask if everything was in order with the documents and I received the following response:
Thank you for your inquiry.
After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.
On the platform the status is: your case is currently at kcc. I should wait to receive the e-mail with the confirmation for the interview or send them another e-mail to ask them what the status of my case is? Thank you!
March 14, 2021 at 23:20
Send an email asking if they are satisfied with your documents.
March 13, 2021 at 18:10
Hi simone
I have filled ds260 and in education i filled that i had internship training while i was studying but i filled the started and ending of training date wrongly .should i open ds260 again and correct it and does it effect me if i opened my ds 260 or not ?
March 14, 2021 at 23:07
Don’t unlock for that trivial matter.
March 13, 2021 at 15:48
Hello Brit,
Thank you for all your hard work, it certainly always needs to be recognized..you know this dv better then anyone else. I know you spend alot of time doing this so I am hoping people recognize this and contribute something towards all your hardworking. I would be via PayPal, since i would be paying a lawyer so much more to find out how much I learned from your website.. Can you please Brit make a video with some predictions for the regions soon even if it’s just showing what are the safer numbers. I am from the small islands in the SA region and I found the numbers only moved marginally compared to the other regions. Can you share some thoughts why this would have happened? Thanks again, Gonzales.
March 14, 2021 at 23:03
I really don’t want to predict anything this year. There is too much crazy stuff going on.
As for why SA moved slow – well it was already quite high, so I don’t think it was as bad as it might have felt to you. But in any case, don’t judge everything from just one VB.
March 15, 2021 at 14:03
Just letting you know, I tried via PayPal as I have done to your account once before and got a message “donations to this recipient aren’t supported in this country” that’s the exact message. It was being made in usd so I know it was not a currency issue.
Would you be able to tell me if in your opinion SA2800 is safe? I know my embassy is working. And I would be sending all the docs on Monday.
Thanks.
March 15, 2021 at 17:50
Hi Brit
I just noticed this was a new section
XXXX Edited XXXX
March 16, 2021 at 02:51
I asked already and he answered me. But I did not want to shout about that because he would get flooded with silly comments and questions.
March 16, 2021 at 02:37
Thanks for trying!
I can’t predict any numbers as “safe”. It’s a weird year and there are many things that could affect your chances.
March 13, 2021 at 15:28
Good morning Sir ,
As we saw in the last visa bulletin that Asia cutoff 13000 ,
1 – Does it mean that all the cases below this number who have been processed have their visas saved if the consulate in the embassies agree to give them ?
2 – Do you think that because a lot of people don’t submit and continue their process that is why the visa bulletin in Asia till now reach 13000 ?
3 – Because the holes in the numbers of cases over 13000 are more than 65% , do you think that the next visa bulletins will surprised us and maybe we will see the cutoff approximately AS21000?
Thank you Sir for your analysis?
March 14, 2021 at 23:01
1. People ready for interview and current, will get interviews, IF their embassy is open.
2. Sort of. It is also the low number of cases where documents have been submitted.
3. I don’t know. In reality a lot of cases already current will become ready for scheduling, so that could slow down VB progress.
March 13, 2021 at 11:39
Hi. I saw today your post in twitter regarding DS-260 and tried to check from my side. I filled in all fields and it gave me the following error – “Electronic Diversity Visa Confirmation Number is invalid”. I remember I was able to do that after submitting the DS-260 form. Also, KCC requested the documents 2 months ago and I sent them recently. Why do I see that error now? What should I do? I suppose that’s not ok?
Thank you in advance
March 14, 2021 at 22:54
You are probably making a mistake with the confirmation number.
March 14, 2021 at 22:55
https://youtu.be/aWeJqaSXEEM
March 16, 2021 at 21:12
You were right. I used DS confirmation instead of DV confirmation.
Thank you
March 17, 2021 at 03:22
Ahhh.
March 13, 2021 at 10:14
Hi Brit, I hope you are well!
I have a situation, I got a job offer in Spain & I am located in Morocco at the moment & I will be there in a month or two.
My case number is high and not current and probably will be on the last bulletin.
My questions are:
1) Should I open the DS-260 once I move there & include this new job?
2) Would that affect me in anyway?
3) If I get the interview scheduled, I can come to Morocco & have the interview easily. Or I will be having it in Spain?
Thanks
March 14, 2021 at 22:52
1. No
2. No
3. If you don’t update your address from the current Morocco address, then you will be scheduled in Morocco.
March 13, 2021 at 10:07
Hi Brit,
First of all thanks for all your help and being an angel for guiding us. My happy news is My case no As 12xxx became current in latest vb. Iam from Srilanka and We have a grup of dv 2021 winners . There are people whose case nos with As430, AS99x, AS10XX, AS20xx like that. But non of them got 2NL so far and stil their case show at NVC.
Our embassy is opened and i have seen people in ques for their visa work. But when our grup members email embassy about starting interviews, they reply as ” You will be contacted by KCC when an interview is scheduled”. Please can u explain why they reply like this and do you think they will schedule interviews soon?
March 14, 2021 at 22:52
I suggest you wait to see if they send 2NLs in March.
March 15, 2021 at 00:31
Hello, Im also from SL. How can i join to your group?
March 15, 2021 at 05:33
Hi Madusha,
I am from Sri Lanka. How can I Join to your group? Thanks.
March 21, 2021 at 11:50
Hi madusha . I am sri Lankan as well. Can i please know the link for the Facebook group so i can be updated as well.
March 13, 2021 at 10:07
Hi Brit. There is signing up of Curtis Morrison lawsuit going on for those affected by schengen ban..My case number is for Africa region but am residing in a schengen country where my interview will take place and my case also falls under current, AF13K that is..So is it wise to participate in this lawsuit considering the costs ($3000) and also the fact that we dont know when the schengen ban will be removed. Thanks
March 14, 2021 at 22:51
I discussed that on my live Q&A yesterday.
The Anunciato case is fighting for the Schengen cases. However, a named plaintiff that is current but NOT ready for scheduling (documents processed) could have an advantage of being a named plaintiff. So – its your choice.
March 13, 2021 at 09:09
Hi brit
After the May bulletin appeared, do you expect the visa bulletin to be current this year?
March 14, 2021 at 22:48
I have no predictions.
March 13, 2021 at 09:02
Dear Brit
2021AF33***
I sent all my documents to KCCDVDOCUMENTS yesterday and wrote my full case number on the subject. I didn’t include my name and date of birth like the way we do it when we’re doing inquiries to KCC. Will this cause a problem? If yes do you think I should resend my documents and include that in my email. Thank you.
March 13, 2021 at 09:57
Hi Fafi, did you get an email from KCC to send the documents? Thanks
March 13, 2021 at 10:58
@Somane. No email but if you follow comments and advice from Brit he will tell you to send the documents since we are now late in the year March/April
March 14, 2021 at 22:47
No problem.
March 13, 2021 at 08:15
Hello brit
I remember there was a data showing for previous years how many interviews were issued and refused per each consulate so it had a refusal rate per each consulate
I searched in the archive but I don’t remember the exact name of the data can you help?
March 14, 2021 at 22:42
I used google to find this…
https://britsimonsays.com/embassy-league-table-statistics-refusalapissued/
March 13, 2021 at 07:28
Hi Simon,
Can I re-enter ON the date stamped in my passport? 14 March 2020 is stamped. So if I fly out tomorrow I’ll arrive in LAX at 6am on the 14th March.
Have you or anyone else here free to comment, heard of someone getting accepted on the last day of the 12 months, the 1-94 stamp date?
Because that’s the best I can achieve now. I missed the chance to fly in one day before.
(Also can you confirm or dispel that the 12 months is from the date you left the States, not the day you entered (stamped in?) that someone just told me.
Thank you kindly.
March 14, 2021 at 22:40
If you are DV2020 you can enter after your expiry date – so no problem.
The 12 months absence rule is ABSENCE. But read the FAQ.
March 14, 2021 at 22:59
Hi Simon,
I am a DV2020 winner, but we flew in to activate & get passport stamped on March 14th 2020 & left back to Aus.
I was under the impression because I have been absent for 12 months that it was over (aside from filing for SB-1)
Can you please clarify what you mean about being able to enter after the expiry date if I’m a DV2020?
I have looked in the FAQ & have not found anything pertaining to this? (except the legal cases but didn’t find evidence of that) Would you like to refer me to a specific area of FAQ?
Thank you kindly, your help is much appreciated.
Oliver.
March 15, 2021 at 03:22
That exception relates to DV2020 cases that were issued in September. It does not apply to you. Get the SB-1
March 13, 2021 at 07:26
Hello Simon, I am a dv2021 winner from Albania Europe with case number 69##. I completed my ds260 on 1st of July and received the email for sending the scanned docs on 2nd of September . I sent them on 18th of September received the automatic reply that received and no other answer to confirm the docs till now. I have written to KCC twice and thay say
” Thank you for your inquiry.
Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed..
Is this normal , what should I do?
March 14, 2021 at 22:39
Check your documents very carefully to make sure there was nothing missed. You could then ask them again, but wait a couple of weeks from now and hopefully there will be more useful feedback.
March 13, 2021 at 07:04
Dear Brit Peace be upon you!
My CN is 2021AF 44xxx, I was just wondering to send the documents(Although I was not asked to submit them) Should I send them or wait? Thanks in advance for your suggestion.
March 14, 2021 at 22:37
Send them.
March 13, 2021 at 05:40
Hay Simon,
VB is out and 34 K in the Africa region is going to be current on May. My case number is around AF 29K, I still didn’t receive document request email from KCC. This week I emailed them to ask about this issue and they said wait until we send you the request, it looks like things are going really slow and am really confused about support document issue. What do you suggest?

But I am still waiting for confirmation letter and do fee payment received!! I did sent KCC an email to ask about it but I only received automatic email back to me. Do you have any suggestions for my case sir? Thank you so much
March 13, 2021 at 21:05
Ask KCC if they are satisfied with your documents.
March 13, 2021 at 03:54
Hi Brit
thank you for everything you do for us.
As the new VB indicates our interview will be in May, 2021. My case number is 255XX. can you tell me exactly or approximately when my interview will be?
March 13, 2021 at 04:27
No
March 13, 2021 at 01:37
Hi sir I’m dv 2021. CN Af8977. The person I place on my d’s 260 form for affidavit of support said, they are incapacitated to sponsor me.
1 do I have to unlock my d’s 260 in other to place new person?
2. Should I make the changes at the interview?

March 13, 2021 at 00:43
hi britsimon
can i change my highest level of education completed on my ds 260 during interview. i should put high school diploma not university no degree
March 13, 2021 at 04:22
Doesn’t matter whether you change that or not.
March 13, 2021 at 00:17
hello BritSimon,
i graduated from the medical university last year from aboard and now in my country unemployed because i have to write licensure examination which is like October, what would be the right occupation to fill on the ds260?
March 13, 2021 at 04:22
Unemployed.
March 12, 2021 at 23:27
Dear Simon ..
I have not yet received a confirmation letter for the documents. Although I have sent it since October.
I made some changes to DS260 only two weeks ago and resubmitted the documents for the second time.
There is a dilemma which is that I do not have an original passport and only have a Travel Document from the country of asylum in which I live. Valid for ten years.
In the lottery application, I had written down the number of the previous travel document. I attached copy of the previous and current travel document with the documents I sent.
In DS 260 there is no entry for the passport number of applicants while they are in a state of asylum ??
Today my case number is available in April.
What should I do.
March 13, 2021 at 04:22
Contact KCC and ask if they are satisfied with your documents.
March 12, 2021 at 23:22
Hi Brit,
Does KCC need back pages of documents? Back pages displays authentication signatures.
Rahel K.
March 13, 2021 at 04:21
Use your judgement.
March 13, 2021 at 05:17
#Rahel K I sent them even the authenticated back page. And I am ready for interview schedule. So you can !
March 13, 2021 at 20:06
Hi Samaritan, Thank you.
March 13, 2021 at 20:07
Hi Samaritan, thanks.
March 21, 2021 at 21:45
Hey Rahel, am from Ethiopia too n should we hv to send the back page of the authentication?
March 12, 2021 at 21:13
Hi Brit, I hope you are well!
I want to know your thought on this please.
I have a mistake in my passport & ID card (a small one) it’s in the address. It’s like instead of writing ‘Boston’ it’s written ‘Botson’ but the rest of address is accurate. The thing is that on the ds260 & initial application I filled it out with the accurate address.
Do you believe that could be a problem in the interview & might lead to disqualification? If so, is there something that I have to do to argue this?
Thanks

Hi Brit, I hope you are well!
My passport will expire on July 20th, 2021 (4 months from now).
I received the “Send documents” email and I sent the documents. Considering that my number is on the 70k’s on AF, I have 3 doubts:questions.
1) Do I renew my passport & send the old & the new one asap?
2) Do I have to reopen the DS260 or in case I get scheduled for an interview I take my old & new passport (considering I got a message saying that my ds260 has already been processed)
3) Do I wait until July & renew my passport and then send the documents again?
Thanks for your support!

1. Yes
2. You should do that OR take both passports to the interview
3. No

Brit in case we renewed the passport we should resend the documents ?
Or only showing it as interview is enough?

When we send the documents, do we send only the biographic page of the passport !!!
or the biographic page and the blanc page !!

hello simon!
hope you are doing well.
I would like to know if a CRN goes current in september, will the case still have enough time to complete the process?(Given that it is a AOS case)
March 13, 2021 at 04:05
It would be stressful, but possible. The person would need to use the early filing policy (July submission of the I-485)

Hello mr Brit Simon,
I am an European winner case number 15000.
It just came up the visa bulletin of April… which means that maybe I will be current in may and be also processed in may right?
Now first question :
My wedding with my fiancé will be the 27th of March. Do you advice to unlock the 260 form and edited and resend the documents when I have them after the marriage (marriage certificate)or it is better just if I bring all the documents needed at the interview? ( my future husband was born in Jamaica but he has been an American citizen for a long time now) in case I have to bring documents at the interview is the marriage certificate enough or I have to bring a copy of his citizenship? Or any other of his documents?
Also, is it better for him to add me and my daughter at his insurance plan straight away after the wedding or waiting til the interview? Right now I am in Virginia but I am going back to Europe in may.
Also kcc asked me for the documentation in September and I sent it to them twice but they never answered. I sent an email to them to understand why and if is missing something but they didn’t reply yet. I try to call but there is a recorded voice. What should I do?
Thank you so much for your time.

The Visa bulletin fir may is out

As your future husband is a citizen, it isn’t really important how you handle it. If scheduled prior to the wedding, you can email the embassy once you are married. If you don’t get scheduled before then, unlock to make changes to your DS260.
You can decide about the insurance.
Email KCC and ask them if they are satisfied with your documents.

Does he need to sponsor me or since I am married there is no need to?
So at this point is it better to wait the 28 of March and then unlock the 260 form and then send all the documents together including the marriage certificate?
Ps I don’t think my interview will be schedule before then since they didn’t answer to my documents yet

Get an I-134 from him.
Yes you could wait.

Hey Brit
My case number is current but i have not received A document confirmation yet( i sent in late November upon kcc request)
Do you think kcc will schedule interviews without confirmation on documents?
If not what your advise should i do?
March 13, 2021 at 03:58
No. You need to ask them if they are satisfied with your documents.

I saw the public charge rule was removed. Does that help DV lottery winners or for other visa categories?
March 13, 2021 at 03:55
The part removed was rarely affecting DV cases.

March 14, 2021 at 01:40
Please I want to know whether it’s necessary for me to change my marriage status on my ds-260. As at the time I was submitting it I wasn’t married but I got married afterwards. Should I leave it or change it?
March 15, 2021 at 01:37
Change it. That is a significant pice of information. Are you not adding your spouse?
