Hello Brit,
I was checking my status at NVC, I am dv2021 Eu69** . I have done my ds260 in 30 june, got email confirmation on 17 July “ If your case becomes current and you have not received notification to check dvlottery.state.gov, please contact [email protected] to confirm all of your documents have been received, and you are ready to be scheduled for an interview.“ , unlocked ds260 for email change in october and on the new email I received another email by kcc with everything the same but by adding something else “ If your case becomes current and you have not received notification to check dvlottery.state.gov, you may contact [email protected] to confirm all of your documents have been received, and you are ready to be scheduled for an interview. This notice does not necessarily confirm that all your documents have been received or are acceptable.”
What does this notice does not necessarily confirm that all my documents have been received or are acceptable when in July this sentence was not in the email. Also at NVC my status is “ at NVC” and not “in transit” as my documents are confirmed once . Should I write to KCC?thank you a lot for your work
March 11, 2021 at 05:19
For the meaning of the statuses, read the FASQ.
As for your interview – be a bit more patient.

Hi Simon
an unmarried person with no crime history, no military history and no travel history has to send ONLY the following documents right?
1- passport bio page.
2- birth certificate.
3- police certificate of his/her own country.
Only these three right?
March 11, 2021 at 05:27
In the simplest case, yes.
March 11, 2021 at 13:36
I think you missing one mandatory is “high school eduction” _or_ “qualification due to the work-experience”
March 11, 2021 at 20:11
@Jimmy, you don’t send any of that to KCC. That is for the interview only.
March 10, 2021 at 23:27
[email protected]
March 10, 2021 at 23:55
have it and I have to wait up to 11 weeks.
Hi Brir, now I went to check my status and it says “At NVC” (“Please follow the instructions you received from the National Visa Center (NVC) that list the six steps you must take before NVC can schedule your visa interview appointment.”). Does it mean that my case is NOW under review or they finished its review and it is in line for interview scheduling? How do I know when my case is complete?
Thanks for your replies!
March 11, 2021 at 05:27
Ignore everything it says under the NVC status. Read the FAQ.

Hello Mr Brit,
I am a dv 21 winner and I am the principal applicant, while completing the ds260 I made a mistake on my spouse’s part of information about her mothers name (example Anni- original, Annije- the wrong one which i wrote) based on an old certificate with the wrong name on it. Her mother does not live. I have received the email for supporting documents and sent them to kcc and I’ve been waiting for the confirmation for a long period of time but no sign yet. Do you think that is a problem? Is there anything I could do at this point like unlocking the ds to correct the mistake. Or it can be corrected later on the interview..Is there any risk of receiving a negative email from kcc based on that mistake I made which leads to disqualification? Whats your suggestion please? I admire your experience and hard work, thank you in advance for your answers!
March 11, 2021 at 05:28
It doesn’t matter, correct it at the interview.
March 13, 2021 at 19:32
Mr Brit regarding that mistake, should I unlock the DS to correct that? My CN is EU11k and I haven’t received the email confirmation that my scanned documents are alright.
1-Will KCC allow me to unlock the ds now that my cn is current based on VB ?
2-If they allow the unlock, How does that affect my case, I mean is there gonna be a delay and can bigger CN get ahead of me?
3-Another question I have is that on the entry at the education section I chose vocational school by mistake than on the DS I corrected that and put the right education High school, is that a problem?
4-On the DS where I was asked about the military when I started and ended the military I answered based on a Military booklet that I got years ago when I finished the military. Later when I sent the scanned documents I got a military certificate from the competent authority where the date when I started the military was correct(same as the booklet) but the date when I finished had a diference of 7 days later. Ofcourse I scanned the certificate that I got from the competent authority. What to do in my situaton?
March 14, 2021 at 23:22
1. Maybe – but I said to correct it at the interview.
2. See 1
3. Probably not.
4. Not a problem.

Hi Simon,
Just wanted to check with you if you know any lawyer or paralegal that can assist on a case recently rejected for re-entry permit/white passport to the USA. I have applied for re-entry permits for my parents who have valid green card. One of them got it. But, there was an error in payment for my mother and they rejected the case and asked us to go for appeal. I want tp have consultation on the process and negative impacts on their green card if any.
I really appreciate if you let me know in case you know someone to support people like what you do for DV lottery winners. Or any paralegal or lawyer.
Thanks a lot,
Sameh
March 11, 2021 at 06:35
You could get a consultation with [email protected]
March 11, 2021 at 04:49
Hello Britsimon,
I wrote to the KCC that my CN is low AF1*** and that I m ready to be scheduled. The Embassy of my country is opened and work. They replied me
“Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvlottery.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.”
Does It mean they are working on my case for interview schedule?
March 11, 2021 at 06:34
Yes

Good morning Sir ,DV2021AS110XX
Sorry for disturbing you by this question , i am and still in the army high rank I sent the documents as per request of KCC since 5 months , im my country in the reciprocity page of us embassy it showed that military record is unavailable so i sent with my documents an explanation about this and about police, court ,prison , record also and i scanned the two clarificatons to show them the evidence .
1- Could you pl tell me if this following letter is enough for KCC to be satisfied about this letter ?
2- Should i do something else?
Thank you Sir for your tolerance and your assistance ,
Dear Consular,
I am xxxxxxxx, of the xxxxx nationality. Winner of the DV Lottery number 2021AS000110xx.
I sent you the required documents as per your request, but according to the reciprocity page of the US Embassy in xxxxx, I would like to clarify about two documents:
1. Police certificate and Court record in my country xxxxxx and on the reciprocity page of the US Embassy in xxxxxx, shows that they are merged by one model called ( police , court , prison record) (Judiciary Police Record) as mentioned on the US embassy reciprocity page.
Here you have the link as proof, sent to your kind attention:
2. Military Record on the reciprocity page of the US Embassy also in my country xxxxx shows “unavailable”.
Therefore, I am sending this letter to clarify these two differences.
Thank you for your comprehension,
Best regards,
xxxxxxxxxx
March 11, 2021 at 06:33

Hi Brit
I am Dv 2020 winner from Sudan, case AF00070XXX.
I wasn’t scheduled, is there any chance to be scheduled and receive visa?
March 11, 2021 at 06:32
Maybe – depends on the Gomez case.
March 11, 2021 at 05:59

Hi Brit,
Regarding the mariage certificate, how long does it stay valid? Thank you so much!
March 11, 2021 at 19:47
That depends on specific country rules – detailed on the reciprocity page for each country.
March 11, 2021 at 07:26
Hello Simon, I would like to know your opinion about my case. My ds and documents were reviewed last summer, but as you suggested about a week ago, I unlocked my ds to include my last name (about which I didn’t know when I was filling my ds the first time) and update some general info. I unlocked ds on 2nd march, updated and immediately submitted, after that I received interview date on 5 march. Thats a bit weird cause from what I know, they should’ve check ds and documents again, anyway, my case changed on 9th of march from IN TRANSIT to READY, and I sent documents with updated police certificate the same day, without a request. I should be glad, but for some reason I have mixed feelings about this, should I be worried ? Or is it just overthinking ? The only thing I can think about is that they checked my ds again, and thought that info I changed was not «that» important to request documents again.
March 11, 2021 at 19:48
Overthinking.
March 11, 2021 at 11:37
Hi Brit, I played the visa lottery with an old lost but still valid passport. I have visited a lot of countries some of which I don’t remember. I have declared all the countries visited that I remember in the ds260. Regarding the countries I can’t remember what should I do?
March 11, 2021 at 19:50
Think harder. Visiting a country isn’t something you can forget that easily.
March 11, 2021 at 11:44
i don’t live in my country a long time ago, i don’t remember exactly the year i left my country, but i turned 16 when i was in my country .. what to mention concerning the part of the year in which I left my country
March 11, 2021 at 19:51
The precise date doesn’t matter. Best guess.
March 11, 2021 at 11:48
Hi Simon! I would like to kindly ask your opinion about the new Curtis lawsuit aimed to challenge the Schengen area issuance ban. My CN is EU17k, I will be interviewed in London. Only those who are current can participate in the lawsuit, but if May VB makes me current, would it make sense to participate in the lawsuit? What would you do? Thank you so much for your help!
March 11, 2021 at 20:07
I haven’t heard any details yet. The issue is being challenged in the Anunciato case, so I’m not sure why another case is needed.
March 11, 2021 at 12:19
heloo simon i have a question for north macedonia i am 25xxx EU when i can expect interview or have i have chance for it
March 11, 2021 at 20:07
This is a crazy year with lots of variables. So – I have no predictions.
March 11, 2021 at 12:34
Hi Brit,
I have one day difference between my birth certificate and passport, the correct date is the one on my birth certificate.
In initial entry I entered date of birth as on my passport.
I haven’t submitted my DS-260 yet, what should I do.
Should I submit date of birth certificate or the passport one.
Or should I issue another new passport with the same date as my birth certificate.
Thank you
March 11, 2021 at 20:08
Get your passport corrected and use the birth cert DOB on the DS260.
March 11, 2021 at 14:27
Good morning Simon. One question: If I have all my documents in spanish and my interview is in Colombia. Should I translate any of them? Thank you
March 11, 2021 at 20:12
No
March 11, 2021 at 23:05
congratulations hello cesar. you know something about the bogota embassy. are you doing an interview for the winner dv2021?
March 11, 2021 at 14:38
Hi Brit..so on the DS260 form’s question about social security number(SSN),I already have one issued to me before and I answered saying “yes” , that i would like to get a new one..Will this be a problem at the interview..?
March 11, 2021 at 20:13
Not at the interview. But you should change the answer in the DS260 at this interview to avoid creating a mess with the SSA.
March 11, 2021 at 15:41
Im winner of the DV Lottery number 2021AS00016xxx, I submitted ds260 in June 2020. KCC hasn’t asked me to send documents yet, can I send them without they asked for?
March 11, 2021 at 20:14
Yes
March 11, 2021 at 15:44
Hi brit
Its nice to contact you while in USA .. because of your great help we managed to land USA on 6th of this month ……. we admitted to the USA in Miami BOP….thanks for everything you did in this regard
…..so we changed our mailing address where the green card is posted in Miami. and my problem is that will they update that in the social Security also.. which means do we receive the Social security card in the changed address.
March 11, 2021 at 20:14
They will “hopefully” change that – but sometimes things go wrong. You can also contact the SSA about the SSN.
March 11, 2021 at 16:08
I Brit I would like to know if the KCC or the embassy are investigating the dates of exit and entry to our own country from the passport number submitted (As part of the DV)
March 11, 2021 at 20:17
I don’t know.
March 11, 2021 at 16:38
Hello Simon,
At the email for submitting documents it wasn’t mentioned any education related document. It is mentioned only for the interview.
Is it obligatory to send it to the KCC?
If yes, are we supposed to translate it?
Thank you
March 11, 2021 at 20:17
You are NOT supposed to send education documents to KCC.
March 11, 2021 at 17:09
Hi Simon,
I have two questions please.
1. My situation as changed and KCC has unlocked my DS-260 to input my new address in France. I am also the co-founder of a company incorporated in Scotland, even though I operate it remotely from France. Do I need to put the address of the Company in Scotland (as per the Companies House) or do I need to stick to my address in France. I am asking this question because KCC may ask for a Police clearance from the UK if they see that the Company is established there – and I am not a resident which is a prerequisite to apply for a UK PC.
2. When sending my docs to KCC, do I need to provide those of my derivatives’ – even though they are not emigrating to the US ?
Many thanks for your time and help, as always.
Best
March 11, 2021 at 20:19
1. The police certs are based on residency.
2. No
March 11, 2021 at 18:18
Hi Brit, my cousin is a DV2021 from Guinea-Bissau with CN 2021AF76**. He received his 2NL today to be interviewed on 20 April in the U.S. Embassy in Dakar, Senegal. His passport will expire on 30 May 2021. His question is: should he renew it or attend his interview and then apply for a new one? Thanks for altruism!
March 11, 2021 at 21:01
Yes, he should renew it, and then take old and new passports to the interview.
March 12, 2021 at 11:55
Hello Brit
My CN is 79xxx and i have not receive the 2NL.
What can i do ?
March 13, 2021 at 03:49
Nothing, except wait. Your number is very high.
March 12, 2021 at 11:58
Hello Sir did you submit the required details without KKC demanding you to send your required details ? my CN is AF 79xxx.
March 11, 2021 at 20:21
Hi brit, i sent required doccuments and got confirmation by kcc that my case is ready to be shceduled interview (documentarily qualified) , but i noticed that the translator in my birth certificate wrote my day and month of birth correctly 03/15 than in paragraphe he wrote march 05 (he forgot 1) . the birth certificate in my homeland language is correct and the translation is not needed to be sent to kcc is only recquired for interview day . 1-can i bring the corrected translation to the interview?2- is that Prooblem? 3-what do yo suggest what should i do?
March 11, 2021 at 21:38
1. Yes
2. No
3. as you said in 1.
March 11, 2021 at 22:44
So i have to fix it and bring new translation for interview ??
March 12, 2021 at 03:02
2-And they will not ask me why i changed my translation(i mean they will not causing me problem) ??
March 13, 2021 at 03:26
I can’t be certain what they will ask or accept.
March 13, 2021 at 23:35
Do you think it can be valid reason for denial visa ?
March 15, 2021 at 00:35
Please what do you think it can be valid reason to deny visa ??
March 15, 2021 at 03:18
Stop asking this over and over. I answered you.
March 15, 2021 at 19:35
Sorry brit, i’m overthinking Thank you for your time
March 11, 2021 at 20:27
Can you confirm to me whether I sent a good e-mail for the documents they asked me for, I think that’s it, but just in case. I took a picture of everything over the phone and sent it as follows
2021EU00015xxx_John_Doe_Passport.jpeg
Passport picture
2021EU00015xxx_John_Doe_Birth_Certificate.jpeg
Birth certificate image
2021EU00015xxx_John_Doe_Police _Certificate.jpeg
A picture of the belief that I was not convicted
2021EU00015xxx_John_Doe_Court_Record.jpeg
A picture from the court about not conducting a trial against me
I sent it on December 11th and I’m still waiting, so if you can confirm some of you who have already received confirmation that the documents are OK and 2nl (I know my number is not yet current, but I just don’t think about this anymore)
Thank you in advance.
March 11, 2021 at 21:39
I can’t tell you if that meets the requirements – it is case specific.
March 11, 2021 at 20:59
Hi – know you busy with important DV questions – so hope this is not an issue to ask …
previous dv winner now in the US.
Looking at ACA/Obamacare as a medical ins option as my new job does not offer medical.
(a) However with the subsidy that Obamacare provides does this then fall in to the category of me being seen as a public charge and using the welfare system ?
(b) Will it have a negative effect and outlook down the line when I apply for citizenship?
Thanks
March 11, 2021 at 21:40
a. No
2. No
March 12, 2021 at 00:55
Thank you
March 11, 2021 at 22:20
Hey Brit
When i submitted my documents (upon kcc request)
The police certificate issued from Dubai has a 3 months validity so it surely passed that date and expired
1) should i send again with an updated police certificate
2)in case Q1 answer is no problem with validity ..i renewed my passport (because about 5 months to expire) in that case should i submit a new police certificate because it mentions the passport number on it
3) do you think based on numbers that kcc is doing the “usual” number they do per month
March 11, 2021 at 22:22
1. No. They will use your police cert up to 12 months old.
2. No. Just take old and new passports to the interview.
3. Not yet.
March 11, 2021 at 23:22
brit good evening excuse the question I lost my mom but the certificate of her death must also be sent to the kcc
March 13, 2021 at 03:19
Not if you are the selectee. Your case has nothing to do with your mother.
March 13, 2021 at 08:28
thanks, I seem to understand from your answer that my husband who is in the same situation must send it instead right?
March 14, 2021 at 22:46
What I am saying is your parents documents are not important. At no time do the instructions ask for death certs or anything else to do with your parents.
March 14, 2021 at 22:54
Thank you so much and i sn sorry good bless you
March 12, 2021 at 00:32
Hi Brit,
I hope all is well. I am a DV2007 winner and currently live in the US, and my brother is a DV2021 winner from Tunisia but he lives in France (Long story short he’s a dual citizen from Tunisia and Spain) . His number is AF37*** (fun fact I had the same case range AF37***) and his post for the interview is Paris. Does it make sense to ask to transfer it to Tunis now, because of the Schengen ban (Which was always a plan B)? We heard that they already scheduled around 20 interviews in Tunis, which is a lot for a country with around 170 winners total.
I am asking because I came across the same situation recently in your blog, and the gentleman was told by KCC that it is too late to transfer because his case is current. Do you think there’s a timeframe to request to change the embassy?
We are just trying to be strategic, so he can increase his chances.
Also, if you are going to resume the interview series, I would love the opportunity to participate. I moved the the US permanently in 2008, right in the middle of the financial crisis. I think the new resident are going to face the same circumstance I faced, if not worst.
Thank in advance for your help, your dedication is really appreciated by the DV community.
March 13, 2021 at 03:23
Hi Anis,
You and I have something in common. My brother and I also BOTH got Greencards through DV – he was one of the earliest years.
If your brother wants to move his case he should do that now – giving an address in Tunisia. He must be certain though that he can travel there for the interview and medical, and that should be at least 14 days before the interview so that he does not have to lie.
Email me about the interview. There has been too much going on just recently – but I would like to do some more. britsimon3 at gmail.
March 12, 2021 at 01:27
Dear Mr. Bithsimon
I became current since October 2020 and received the below email from KCC in the same month.
Congratulations. Our record shows that you have submitted all documents required by KCC and are ready to be scheduled when your case number becomes current. My CN is 2021 AF20XX and became current since October last year.
Please tell me my status with regard to receiving the 2NL. I am a bit worried.
Look forward to hearing from you Sir.
Thank you
Jolo
March 13, 2021 at 03:25
If your embassy is open, I would expect you to get scheduled in the next 2 to 3 weeks.
March 12, 2021 at 02:35
hello Sir
You previosly said that They will use your police cert up to 12 months old, What about the other documents, do they consider valid documents issued less the one year? i mean i have the marriage cert issued in july 2020 so almost 9 months ago do they consider it still valid or i need to get a new one?
Thanks in advance
March 13, 2021 at 03:25
It varies by country rules, so check the reciprocity page.
March 12, 2021 at 03:16
My CN is already current in previous VB and I received ready for interview email. US consulate where I’m in is starting to work on DV cases as some people here already got 2NLs. So I expect my own interview schedule very soon. I have questions about passport validity.
1. The passport I used to enter the lottery, filled in DS260 and uploaded to KCC expires in less than 10 months. Can I use this same passport in the interview?
If my interview is successful, I plan to activate my visa towards the end of the approx 5+ months visa valid period due to Covid and some personal reasons. That means by that time, my passport will have a validity of less than 6 months and I will need a new passport to travel internationally. It will take about 1 month for me to renew passport.
2. Is it okay to travel with new passport and present old passport with valid DV sticker at POE? Any questions from the border officer?
March 13, 2021 at 03:27
1. Yes. Or you can renew it now and take both old and new to the interview.
2. Yes, but see 1.
March 12, 2021 at 03:57
Hi Brit, my cn is AS1449X from iraq and I legally live in US and I submitted ds-260 in October and now Asia is showing 9000 in the VB so do you think that my cn is still mid high? And do I need to do anything for now? Thanks for your effort.
March 13, 2021 at 03:32
All you can do is wait.
March 12, 2021 at 04:27
Hello Brit, after trying since 2001, I finally won and my CN is 2021AF00064xxx. Do you think I stand any chance In this unusual year?
March 13, 2021 at 03:37
Only time will tell.
March 12, 2021 at 05:58
Hi Simon
Which one of these you recommend when attaching an important files to an email @ gmail and why :

March 13, 2021 at 03:38

March 12, 2021 at 07:34
Hello Brit.
Is the final hearing on Gomez lawsuit still on course today?
March 13, 2021 at 03:39
No. It will be in April.
March 12, 2021 at 08:12
Hi Brit Simon,
For the country where I live, the validity of the police certificate is 12months also? I live in Tunisia.
Thank you so much!!
March 13, 2021 at 03:39
ANY country.

Hello Great Simon,
We submitted our documents upon the request of KCC on 10th of Feb. 2021. So far we didn’t hear anything from KCC other than the automatic replies. Our CN is current for month of April (AS89**). We mailed twice by asking the status of ours and my questions are;
1) is it ok to resend many inquiry mails by asking the status of our documents?
2) can we resend our document package several time until we get a feedback from their end?
Kindly advice me on this!
Love from SL ❤️

1. Many?? No – don’t be a pain in the ass.
2. You need to be a bit more wise. Don’t just keep sending documents, it will confuse them. Politely ask them. Then wait a while.

That is unlikely to cause a problem.

Hello Mr Simon ,
I decide finally to submit my DS-260 (CN AF64K) even if it is risky but what would life be if we don’t take some risk 🙂
so if i submit today
1-could i send also document or should i wait more time? (they are ready )
I’m from Algeria living in France : my birth certificate , and other documents are all in French
2-do i need an english translation ?
and just for information i have called PARIS embassy 2 days ago i asked if they are planning to schedule interview in APRIL they told me no , and i tel them about Metha decision in septembre but she tell me she didnt heard about it
3-how can that possible ? i mean how can embassy just ignore a justice decision ?
Bests

1. Wait at least a couple of weeks after DS260 submission.
2. No
3. Mehta’s decision has no impact on DV2021.

Hi Sir, hope you and the family is doing great. i have send my document twice to kccdv and twice i have gotten a mail saying “Thank you for submitting your Diversity Visa documents to the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). After reviewing your documents, KCC has determined that you have not yet provided sufficient documentation that you meet the passport requirement. Please review the information below and verify that you have submitted all requested documentation. ”
I have review and counter check every one of my documents by following your video you posted, right now I confused and don’t know what else to do again sir.
I need your help in processing my documents sir please, if there is a way I can contact you privately it will really help me out here with my case cause I already been through a lot on this my process.

So you entered the lottery without providing your valid passport. They are asking for proof that shows you were entitled to claim that exemption. If you don’t have any legitimate reason, then they may decide not to schedule your case.
March 13, 2021 at 08:26
Sir, I enter the lottery with a valid unexpired passport which suppose to expire Nov. 2022, and that’s the passport i mail them.
feel like my case is going down the drain on something i got no idea about.
thanks for the reply

This is within your power to correct. If the passport was valid, perhaps you simply haven’t followed the instructions. Check your documents.

Call KCC on phone, they will let you know the exact document missing. I received similar email and it was my wife police clearance they were looking for.

Hi Simon,
I hope you’re doing great! I would like to use this opportunity to thank you for the great effort that you make every day to make our lives easier! Every day I’m one step closer to immigrating to the US thanks to you!!!
In your video “DV Lottery || How to create your lottery photo using just a phone” you said that it is possible to digitally enhance the DV photo (e.g. by adjusting the exposure, removing blemishes in the background…) as long as these do not alter the shape or outline of the face, neck, and shoulders –cropping out the background would for instance be unacceptable–.
However, the instructions provided at “https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/photos/photo-examples.html” are not very clear on this. Moreover, I’ve read on several websites that any sort of digital retouching will result in the automatic exclusion from the draw.
I’d be great to hear your thoughts on this!
Best greetings from a Canary Islander currently living in Germany,
Diego

I gave my thought about it in the video you watched. Obviously I would not have said what I said if that meant automatic exclusion.

Hi Simon, should we expect a release of 2NL on 15 of March for April interviews in countries where there’s no ban
March 13, 2021 at 03:53
Wait and see.
