Hello Simon! Im DV2022 AS2** i live in Turkey and I got DQ about 2 weeks ago I went to Spain in 2020 for 5 months and in 2021 for 3 months and its in my passport I put Spain in the travel history but didn’t mention the address I stayed at in Spain and I asked to unlock my ds260 to add them before getting the DQ but now kcc replied asking for the reason why to unlock it (it was my second unlock request I did changes before) some people told me they are working on my interview and If I add them now I will loose my chances of getting interview and the green card please advise me what to do. Should I send them the reason and unlock or just stop
And thanks for everything you do
November 2, 2021 at 23:36
I would not unlock if I were you.
November 3, 2021 at 13:24
So they sent me an email telling me to tell them the reason to unlock the ds260 should I just ignore this email or should I send them an email saying don’t unlock my ds260 Please ?
November 5, 2021 at 23:54
Just ignore it.
October 30, 2021 at 03:19
Hello Brit hope you doing well
Is it possible that KCC does not require from applicant to send documents within a year?not even check/ process DS260 ?
Or every submitted DS260 have to be processing before one year period finish.
Thanks
November 2, 2021 at 23:37
First, you don’t let them decide your fate. You send the documents.
Second, it is possible that someone fails to send the correct documents and never gets scheduled.

1. I am Goh plaintiff and Documentary Qualified since April. I sent my docs back in sept 2020. We have around 15 plaintiffs in my country from Goh case(Kathmandu consulate). Do i have a good chance, based on your experience?
2. What if bill passes into a law, will JM’s order get moot?
November 2, 2021 at 23:38
1. I don’t know. There is no “experience” for this situation.
2. I’m not going to address that until its real.
October 30, 2021 at 08:30
Hello Brit
I filled out the 2023 lottery form, but in the end it did not give me a confirmation and the page was cut off, and considering that I should not register twice, how can I find out if I am registered or not?
November 2, 2021 at 23:39
Try and enter again. If it already has your entry it won’t let you enter again.
October 30, 2021 at 12:52
Hello Sir,
Am I allowed to use characters like ç ë š č ć đ ž when typing the information for my entry?
Some information, including my city of birth, are written with these characters. That’s how they’re presented in my official documents.
Is it okay to use them or are they considered spelling mistakes? Will I get disqualified if I use them?
November 2, 2021 at 23:40
No – use the English language/alphabet.
October 31, 2021 at 02:39
Hello Brit,
Am I supposed to mention all the temporary addresses mentioned in the DS260 form in the police clearance certificate too? What if I have obtained the police clearance certificate without the temporary addresses? I don’t think that I’d be able to obtain the Police clearance certificate again. So should I unlock DS 260 and delete all the temporary addresses I’ve mentioned?
November 2, 2021 at 23:49
Follow procedures in that country.
October 31, 2021 at 03:07
Hello
I just applied for DV-2023, and I see it was successful in the end. Then I get the confirmation number and print all information. But I didn’t close the webpage yet. Then I click the backspace on the internet browser because I want to enter for my other friend’s information for DV-2023. But after I click backspace the website shows me that:
‘The information submitted has not been accepted because it matches a previous entry in our records. Individuals may only submit one entry per DV period. Duplicate entries will not be accepted.’
I didn’t submit any information again or add new information, I just keep click ‘back’ on the internet browser after I submit my DV-2022. But then I get this message from the website. Did I be disqualified for DV-2023 ?
Thanks you
November 2, 2021 at 23:50
You clicked to go back, that caused the browser to resubmit your details but that was caught by the system so you are worrying over nothing.
You have repeated this question to me all over the place. Ask once and wait.
October 31, 2021 at 07:58
Hi simon , for the last 2 weeks i couldn’t to access your blog page. Do you have the idea about that?
November 2, 2021 at 23:52

October 31, 2021 at 11:48
Hello sir,
Do we get 2nl without getting document request mail?
Best regards
November 2, 2021 at 23:52
If you have submitted documents that is possible.
October 31, 2021 at 15:03
Dear Brit,
Hope you are keeping well and safe!
I have a concern regarding the name when applying for DV 2023.
As per my birth certificate my name is ‘Godakanda Hettiarachchige Muditha Sudarshani Godakanda’
In my passport ‘Godakanda’ is the surname and ‘Godakanda Hettiarachchige Muditha Sudarshani’ is available under other names.
So in the applicant section,
Surname is ‘Godakanda Hettiarachchige ‘
First name ‘Muditha’
Last name ‘Sudarshani’
As per my passport, I am not sure how I should add details under section how does your name appears as in the passport.
Surname ‘Godakanda’???
First name ‘Godakanda’???
Last name ‘Hettiarachchige Muditha Sudarshani’???
Is this correct?
Kindly advise me if I am wrong.
Will this be a problem if I won?
Thanks!
November 3, 2021 at 20:22
I don’t know what is correct in your particular case. This might help:

November 1, 2021 at 09:28
Hi Simon,
I really appreciate your great help in here since I found answers to most of my questions.
I have 2 questions regarding DV-2022.
1.On October 5th,I submitted DS-260.
Almost 2 weeks later I travelled to another country for around 16 days.
Do I have to ask KCC to unlock DS-260 for updating my case regarding my travel.
2.my case number is under 1800 in Asia (DV-2022) and it’s just been 25 days since I submitted DS260.in your opinion ,should I send my documents before KCC asks for them or it’s better to wait longer for the request?
November 3, 2021 at 20:23
1. No.
2. Send them.
November 1, 2021 at 12:22
Hello sir,
I hope you are doing great!
Sir I have sent kcc email for transfer my interview location from Kabul- to India on 13 of October while my other Afghans in the WhatsApp group I am in with the are receiving response with 3 to 5 days and also so many of the them had their interview location changed from Kabul to Islamabad despite being in Afghanistan.
Sir I don’t know what to do. To be honest, I am very worried about not receiving any email from kcc.
November 3, 2021 at 20:26
I think you just need to be patient. We have 11 months left.
November 1, 2021 at 14:43
Hi Simon,
I’ve just been having a chat with my sponsor and wanted to run something by you. As mentioned, she is my sponsor, so will be completing the affidavit of support for me and my family. She is also however in a position to offer me a job at her company. Seeing as she would be both my sponsor and potential employer, do you see this as being an issue? The job offer would obviously be a legitimate one, but we just wanted to make sure there wouldn’t be a conflict if both the job offer and affidavit are from the same person.
Thanks.
November 3, 2021 at 20:27
No issue, but if you have an I-134 that is enough – why add to the complexity with a job offer.
November 1, 2021 at 15:09
Hi Mr. Simon. Hope you are good. By reading your comments I have learnt a lot. I still have to get some answers for a burning question I have been searching answers for. I will put it this way. If one is on the final stage of K-1 process (at CP level). Is it possible to face the DV interview too if it comes up?. (I mean say if K-1 interview faced in December and as it has about 6 months time to enter – is it still possible to wait for DV interviews too and face it? Do I get to choose which one to take? I read that you mentioned DV has the advantage of direct GC and lesser cost. Thank you.
November 3, 2021 at 20:28
You can apply for two different paths, yes, but at some point you need to decide.
November 4, 2021 at 13:50
Thank you, for clearing my confusion. You are the best. Now the only question is how long I am allowed time to face the K-1 (later the better I know). I know you are the expert in DV process. Any idea where I can seek help? I asked from a site you have mentioned on your blogs, but so far no success.
November 6, 2021 at 19:18
I don’t know.
November 7, 2021 at 03:47
Thank you Mr. Simon. Your help is valued.
November 1, 2021 at 17:37
Dear Simon,
thank you so much for all of the information provided on your site. You are a great help!
I am a DV2022 winner and will fill out the DS260 within the next weeks. I married this year in October and my surname has changed. I will be issued a new passport in November/December due to the surname change. With the new passport being issued, I will also get a new passport number.
I am unsure on how to change my passport number within the DS260. I can not seem to find any information about that. Should I stick with my old passport number and show my new passport at the interview?
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards
Jeanette
November 3, 2021 at 20:31
When you submit the DS260 use the new name and passport. When sending documents you will need to send both old and new passports.
November 1, 2021 at 19:57
Hello sir, I trust you are doing well.
Please a friend of mine got her country of chageability mistakenly changed to Afghanistan on her 1NL.
Please is there advice to resolve this problem?
DV2022, CN10k
Thank you.
November 5, 2021 at 23:20
It isn’t a misytake – it is based on what she entered. So where was she actually born?
November 1, 2021 at 20:51
Hello Brit, I can’t find an answer to my question on your site. I was born in Canada, both my parents were born in Portugal and were temporarily and illegally in the country at the time of my birth. They became Canadian citizens 3 years after my birth. I filled out the dv lottery form and put my country of charge as Portugal. If I am selected to fill out ds260, send documents and get an interview, WHAT POSSIBLE DOCUMENTS WILL I REQUIRE FROM MY PARENTS? I am guessing at least their birth certificates, possibly their Canadian citizenship documents, but will I need anything else?
November 5, 2021 at 23:21
Completely pointless to think about this before being selected.
November 1, 2021 at 21:34
Hi Sir
Is it possible that KCC might change their behaviour in reviewing DS-260 based on submission order to case number order ..??
Cuz its not sense they are reviewing DS-260 on date of submission order and documents in case number order .
Waiting your response .
Thanks
November 5, 2021 at 23:21
I doubt it.
November 1, 2021 at 22:26
Hi Simon, I have a few questions and thank you in advance. We want to apply for a green card as a family, I am 26 years old and my sister is 22. Can my mother apply for us as a parent or not? If so, can I apply separately for myself (as a double chance)? My mother was born in Kosovo but lives in Serbia, does she enter Kosovo or Serbia in the application as her country of birth and does she apply from a country where she has a passport or Serbia?
Thank you very much.
November 5, 2021 at 23:22
1. You are both too old to be derivatives on a parents case.
2. Kosovo.
November 2, 2021 at 01:56
I successfully graduated from high school attended university for one year passed 5 courses. I dropped out of university it wasn’t for me and have no desire to go back to university. What’s the best way I can describe myself for the DV Lottery Visa High school graduate or some university courses.
November 5, 2021 at 23:24
So you did “some university courses”.
November 2, 2021 at 04:27
Hii Sir,

I have not received documents requested mail from KCC.
Do I need to submit documents without receiving the mail?
Thank you..
November 5, 2021 at 23:24
You should submit, yes.
November 2, 2021 at 06:01

November 5, 2021 at 23:25

November 2, 2021 at 12:31
Hi dear sir
I am from Iraq Cn is 2022AS 7000 I sent an email to KCC to change my interview location but unfortunately they refused. If i get another passport from other countries can I update my ds260 form and change my interview location without changing my present address and I stay in my birth country until they schedule my interview.
November 5, 2021 at 23:26
You can decide.
November 2, 2021 at 13:55
Hello Dear Brit Simon
I am DV 2022 winner from Ethiopia. I submitted my DS260 as on June 15, 2021 but I didn’t received any Document request (DR) from KCC my case number is 5K which is current in December according to visa bulletin.
DS ….. 260 on June 15, 2021
CN….. 5K (current in December)
DR …..NO
So Brit Simon,
What should I have to do in order to get DR ?
Shall I request Unlock my DS260 ?
Thank you so much.
November 5, 2021 at 23:38
You can send documents without being asked.
You only unlock if you need to change your DS260.
November 2, 2021 at 16:22
Hi Brit,
My family of 4 are DV2022 winners (EU15xxx) now we are planning to send in the documents, although we haven’t been asked yet. We already collected the documents but wondering about the following 2 specific questions:
1. My husband was married before our marriage. Do we need to send in his previous marriage certificate or is the divorce certificate enough?
2. I have a child from a previous relationship (it wasn’t a marriage) living with us and would be coming with us. I already have an official agreement from the biological father. Should this be attached to the email along with the other documents?
Thanks a million for all your efforts and time dedicated to providing really useful DV lottery insights.
November 5, 2021 at 23:39
1. Instructions here: https://britsimonsays.com/document-procedure-modification/
2. No. Take that to the interview.
November 3, 2021 at 01:01
My husband is the main applicant for DVLottery. We arrived to the US two weeks ago. My daughter and I have received our SSN. However, my husband still have not received his. He previously had another SSN (twenty years ago, he was in the US for a few months). Would there be issue with his SSN, is this normal? We are trying to contact the SSA office, however, it’s hard to get hold of them. Thanks. We truly appreciate your help.
November 5, 2021 at 23:41
He will keep the old SSN. He can get a replacement card if needed by visiting the SSA office.
November 3, 2021 at 03:34
Mr Brit
My son is now 15 years and 10 month old.
I hope to apply for the police certificate for him even though he is not 16 years right now.
Is it applicable ?
I’m DV 2022 winner
Thank you
November 5, 2021 at 23:41
No
November 3, 2021 at 03:51
Hi Brit,
Just wanted to say thanks for all the information your blog provides. I was definitely in the dark when I first found out I was selected for DV2022 in May, but your blog has helped a lot to answer all of my questions.
Got sent an email to say that I’m DQ by KCC yesterday (2022OC9XX), so your advice has certainly been appreciated.
November 5, 2021 at 23:41
Cool!
December 1, 2021 at 01:11
Hi Logan.
Please what region are you from? Im under the Consulate in Fiji. I have sent my documents on 7 October following the DR email they sent me but I am yet to get the DQ email.
How long was it before you got the DQ email?
November 3, 2021 at 04:27
Hello, Mr. BritSimon!
My name is Mir Abdul Mateen Fazel. I live in Kabul. We worked in the departments of journalism, graphic designer and webmaster.
Currently, the situation in Afghanistan is critical and I am under serious threat and I always go to the homes of friends and comrades so that I do not fall into the hands of the Taliban.
I also have a warning from ISIS and we were threatened with death.
We also registered in Dv Lottery, hoping that you will help me and make me a winner in your country or through my green card. Because my life is in danger
Thank you very much for your kindness
November 5, 2021 at 23:42
The lottery is a random draw.
November 3, 2021 at 08:53
Hi Simon, hope you are doing well. As I had requested KCC unlock my DS260, is unlocked. Now question is what comes in “primary Occupation” usually.
Thank you
November 5, 2021 at 23:43
What you do each day. Employment, studies or whatever.
November 3, 2021 at 11:18
Hi Britsimon,

Thanks
Joestar
November 3, 2021 at 20:53

November 5, 2021 at 08:19
Case number and region plz?
November 5, 2021 at 23:45
I can’t answer with certainty as it depends what happened already on that case.
November 3, 2021 at 13:22
Hello Mr. Simon, i am dv2022AS4xxx from Afghanistan, i have been asking kcc to change my interview location from kabul to islamabad embassy, but everytime they are responding with generic replies, i give them complete details and reason for the change, but they are not changing my interview location, i dont know how to write email now. Luckily kcc is now responding within 24hrs.
November 5, 2021 at 23:56
You have to state the reason why you need to be switched and the justification for being moved to Islamabad. For the latter, having friends or family there that would ensure you could be there in safety would be a good thing to point out.
November 3, 2021 at 13:41
Do i have to change anything in my ds-260 before i send change of interview location to kcc? In my previous question i asked you that i have been asking kcc to change my location but they are not doing it
November 3, 2021 at 13:44
Hello sir
I got a question
I entered my country of birth unintentionally wrong, i was born in Saudi Arabia but i entered Egypt in DV lottery application. How can I correct it ?? And if i won and corrected it in DS 260 that can lead to rejection at interview???
Thank you
November 5, 2021 at 23:57
I’m sorry to say you cannot be approved. You have an AF region case, and you were not entitled to be in that region.
November 3, 2021 at 14:52
hi britsimon!
I apologize, can I have the link to the file numbers for the dv2020?
November 5, 2021 at 23:58
https://dvcharts.xarthisius.xyz/ceacFY20.html
November 7, 2021 at 17:17
Thank you very much Brit … you don’t know when the files will be updated … well I don’t appear there yet … and I know that there is a second part but if you know when they are updated, let me know .. greetings
November 13, 2021 at 15:50
I have no idea what you are asking.
November 3, 2021 at 16:51
Dear Simon,
Who can be an under-21-year-old applicant’s dependants on the Green Card application? Are the parents eligible to be the dependants, if the applicant is not 21 yet?
Regards.
November 5, 2021 at 08:17
Any child under 21 is dependant parents are the main applicants
November 5, 2021 at 18:24
Thanks for the reply, Joe. According to what I’ve read on the official websites, any person can apply provided that they meet the 12-years-of-education requirement. Isn’t that so?
November 5, 2021 at 23:59
No of course not.
November 3, 2021 at 17:28
Dear Simon,
I am dv2022lotery winner, but i didn’t use passport while applying because i wasn’t able to afford it and i it was impossible to get it at time in our country owing to some technical issues that paused the process of issuing travel documents for 5 months. Now i have already submitted the ds-260 formula (i even used a passport as it is recommended to complete the form) as well as documents. Now I’d like to know if there is any possibility that kkc shall keep processing my case.
November 6, 2021 at 00:00
KCC will process your case, but the CO could refuse your case at interview if they do not accept your justification to enter without a passport.
November 3, 2021 at 19:54
Hello,
I turned 21 on September 3rd (2021).
Can my parents include me in their application?
Please let me know when you have a chance. Thank you
November 5, 2021 at 23:59
No. You can enter by yourself though.
November 3, 2021 at 20:45
Hello Simon
Can people with scheduled interviews unlock the ds260 in case of small change like a misspelled street and house number in the address of one of the parents
November 6, 2021 at 00:01
No
November 3, 2021 at 22:11
Finished school on 27th May 2008 so used that to fill completion date. Just took a look at the certificate and saw June (just the month June with no day ) 2008. Do I unlock and change date or it doesn’t matter.
November 4, 2021 at 12:35
CN 2022AF20xxx
November 4, 2021 at 12:36
High school certificate that is.
November 6, 2021 at 00:01
Doesn’t matter.
November 4, 2021 at 08:07
Hi Simon,
I am DV2021 winner and having IV Visa in my hand which is about expire Feb 1st.
As new vaccination rule has been introduced, I am waiting to get second vaccination in next week.
I have questions about SSN.
I was issued SSN card before when I was doing OPT program; but with stamp that says “valid only for work with DHS authorization”.
I remember that you said SSN is provided one time for life for each individual and will never be changed once it is issued. So I assume I will receive same SSN card but without stamp “valid only for 〜”
I would like to apply for drivers license in CA once I enter U.S. I could start application when I was student by submitting F-1 visa, I-20, I-94 back in the day; however now I need to submit my SSN for application.
My question is must I need to submit physical SSN card or just SSN itself is fine? Since my SSN will not be changed I already know my number and thought I could start application before physical SSN card come to my hands.
Thank you for your support!
November 6, 2021 at 00:03
The number is what you need.
November 13, 2021 at 13:01
Hi Britsimon
I hope you are doing great.
Please I am DV2022 winner with case number 2022 AF2xxx, and my case number was current in October, though I send my documents to kcc without documents being requested, however when I noticed needed to make revisions on my DS-260; I send an unlock request to KCC on the 31st October and had the unlock request from kcc on November 8th and I did make the necessary revisions and resubmitted my DS 260 on November 10th.
Furthermore I got scholarship to study in the United States before I won the lottery, however I am expected of the school in the US to arrive on the 10 of January 2022 to commenced the winter academic season.
And also because I have already expressed my intent of permanent stay in the US, do I have the chance of getting an F1 visa approval from the US embassy in my home country Ghana?
Please could you advise me when I can receive a DQ or 2 L from kcc? Having submitted DS-260 on the 10th of November please.
Due to the F1 Visa requirements by US embassy, that one must prove, he/she must return to his home country after completing his /her education, kindly advise me on how to go about it please, I really can’t figure out. Thank you.
November 13, 2021 at 17:25
Number questions!!
Your F1 could be affected by the DV application. As for showing ties to your home – use your judgement about how to show you will return home.
November 4, 2021 at 09:00
Hello Simon,
My name is Ralitsa Tenewa. I am a DV2022 selectee from Bulgaria. My case number is 2022EU00001XXX
I have a quick question: When i was in my first semester of 9th grade i had to change schools. I successfully graduated 12 year course high school but i did not include the fact that i started 9th grade in one school and graduated it in another. Would that cause any additional checks if i unlock my DS and add this detail?
Thank you
November 6, 2021 at 00:03
It’s not important.
November 4, 2021 at 09:13
Hello Simon,
I was just wondering if you saw any dv2022 cases where the applicant entered with an expired passport and wasn’t disqualified at the time of the interview?
The government here in Sudan hasn’t been issuing any passports to citizens since the beginning of the year except for emergencies like people who were seeking medical treatment abroad and whatnot.
Would applying in this case be entirely pointless or are they not as stringent in regards to this rule?
Thanks,
November 6, 2021 at 00:04
There have been virtually no 2022 interviews.
November 4, 2021 at 14:08
Hello,
Me wife is a winner of DV2022, we are curently waiting for our case to be processed, but we would like to enter DV2023 just in case. I have a coule questions:
1. Can we use the same photos that we’re using for DV2022 (for the medical exam, DS260, etc.). They were taken in July 2021.
2. Should we both do separate entries to make the chances of winning higher?
Thanks
November 6, 2021 at 19:23
1. Yes
2. You can each enter, yes.
November 4, 2021 at 15:45
Hello Brit,
In section 7, the question related with the passport. I live in abroad and renew my passport in abroad. For “Country/Authority of issuance” , Should i need to choose my hometown country or where I live currently ?
I am from Country A, and I have passport from Country A.
I live in Country B, and I renew my passport in Country B.
On my passport “Issued by” Country B Consulate.
Thanks
November 6, 2021 at 19:25
The issuing authority is the COUNTRY that “owns” the passport.
November 4, 2021 at 18:49
Hello simon
I am from Nepal and my case number is 9k and already got DQ.
I have valid Australian visa till 2024, and I will fly there on March 2022.
1) Can I email kcc to change my interview location now?
2) If I change interview location from Nepal to Sydney embassy, will it delay my process? I already got DQ.

1. No – you don’t live there.
2. It might, depending on timing.

Hi Simon
DV2022OC00004XX
I submitted our DS260’s on 8 Oct 21 but only included tertiary institutions when asked to list education institutions attended. Both the primary and secondary has a Bachelor and Masters which were listed. Is it necessary to unlock to include junior and high schools?
Thank you and kind regards, Glenn

You should have include education from about age 12. However, you have a low number and I don’t think the mistake will affect you during interview, so I do not suggest updating the DS260.

Hello Simon,
I have left US before receiving my green card and now my friend has received my card in US. Can she send me the card by DHL?
Thank you

You need it for travelling purposes once the 6months visa in ur passport expires and it doesn’t harm by sending it to you .
