Hi Brit my question is my green card is any charges needed before I get it
September 24, 2022 at 15:20
There are fees at the interview and medical, but if approved you also pay $220 per person for the greencard itself.

Hello BitSimon, Am a DV WINNER 2023AF49****. I played single but i came across a girl friend around August 2021 and she got pregnant for me around November 2021. She has given birth to a baby boy this year August 18 2022.
My question is, should i add the baby in my DS260 form or should i leave the baby out since me and the mother are not marriage officially?
Please Sir, help me out with your wealth of experience.
September 24, 2022 at 15:23
You should add the child of course (to your DS260). If you plan to take the baby then the baby would need a DS260 also , but you can also get married and add your spouse if that is what you have decided.
September 24, 2022 at 15:32
Helo simon im a derivative can i be able to bring my parents here in usa or is it possible for the principal applicants only
September 24, 2022 at 19:25
Neither. As an LPR you cannot sponsor parents, that has to wait until you become a citizen.
September 24, 2022 at 18:30
How are u Brit? Hope you are doing ok? Not seen your replies here for two weeks.wondering whether u are all right?
September 24, 2022 at 19:22

Great! The undisputed king of the DV world ????
September 13, 2022 at 23:29
Hi Brit.. My case 2023AF00043*** and i recently made an illegal entry to the USA running away from WAR in my country. I want to ask what process i need to fill the DS260, is there anything i need to watch out for? Also what documents will i be needing? Thanks for the good work you do for us all.
September 24, 2022 at 15:29
Illegal presence in the USA is not a good idea. You can’t abuse the immigration laws of the USA one minute, and expect a greencard the next. So – make sure you are acting responsibly. If you haven’t filed asylum, speak to a lawyer.
The DS260 is a process that assumes your interview will be outside the USA, so think about where you will be able to be living by mid 2023.
September 14, 2022 at 15:51
What happens if the refuse status of dv lottery visa (AP) not changed brfore 30th of September fo DV22 ??
Is it necessary to be issued before 30 th??
September 24, 2022 at 15:31
Cases that are not approved by September 30 will lose their chance.
September 15, 2022 at 05:52
Good day sir. Thank God for your life and for words of encouragement. Our Visas were approved yesterday. .
September 24, 2022 at 06:53
Hi Sir I wish to ask please.
If you attended and institution but registered your exams in another institution ( which you went there just for five days to write the exams) and you’re asked how many institutions did you attend? Do you need to include the one you only sat for your exams? Or better still how can I answer the question in your opinion? Thank you
September 24, 2022 at 19:18
No – the institution that held the exams is not a school you “attended”
September 24, 2022 at 15:32
Congratulations!
September 15, 2022 at 08:36
Hey Brit,
As you mentioned on my last question: “better delay than deny” 🙂 – We will send our DV-260 end of next week (since we’re getting married next Thursday and want to file together). As my CN is EU7xxx – so pretty low, I expected to be maybe interviewed this year depending on the processing time.
Here in Berlin, Germany, the doctor for the medical has very restricted appointments and waiting times up to 2-3 months. So I already registered for the first free appointment (early December).
I wonder what is happening when we have an earlier interview appointment? Do we need to have the medical at the Interview appointment?
Also, would you advise having the medical without having an interview appointment (since it’s very expensive and I don’t know how long it will be valid?
Thanks again for your Help!
Viktor
September 20, 2022 at 14:56
Hey Viktor, just got my appointment in Berlin with only 2 weeks of waiting. You have to keeo refreshing Doctolib but eventually you can find smth for sure. Hope this info helps as I was quite worried I won’t find one on time when my interview got booked. Good luck!!
September 20, 2022 at 15:27
Hey Mar! Thanks for your reply 🙂 Are you also made your appointment at “Pravenio” ? I think this is the only medical examinator for the Visa right? I also used Doctolib but everytime I look, the next possible appointments are early December.
Since I dont sent my DS-260 yet and dont have an interview appointment I will keep my November appointment and hope it fits. Otherwise I have to check to get an earlier or even later one.
Do you already have your embassy appointment? Are you also from Berlin? Lets connect if you want 🙂 Dont know if I can post my mail but feel free to contact me on [email protected]
September 20, 2022 at 15:58
Hey hey, yes with Praevenio 🙂 My appointment is end of October so I had roughly 2.5 months from the time the interview was booked. Just keep refreshing Doctolib whenever you remember and you will eventually be able to get something earlier as people cancel appointment a lot.
Your visa will be valid for 6 months from the day you complete your medical (not from the day you interview) so you should be careful not to have the medical too early before the interview. Either way, keep an eye out on Doctolib – I’m really hopeful you will be able to find something om short notice.
I’m also sure Simon can advise best so let’s hear what he says 🙂
September 20, 2022 at 18:17
Do not ever fill form with nobody if you are not legally married.
September 20, 2022 at 18:33
What you mean by that? For sure not! Not mentioned that in any sentence. Our wedding is in two days.. we will send the DS-260 after being legally married. Since our appointment was already set since early this year, we waited for the submission.
September 24, 2022 at 15:34
Your earliest interview will probably be January. So – your December medical might be OK, although understand that the visa expiry date is based on the medical date plus 6 months.
September 15, 2022 at 10:07
Hey, Thank you for your helpful page and YouTube videos! I am a DV 2023 winner, and I have a new police certification from another country where I previously lived. Now we will be travelling for holidays to that same country, before the possible interview would take place. Will I be okay with this same police certification, or do I need to get a new one?
September 24, 2022 at 15:40
If it is less than 2 years old you can still use it.
September 15, 2022 at 13:33
Hi Brett Simon
I have a problem with block DS260
Now two months and twenty days have passed since I wrote to kcc, and the kcc has not contacted me about my case and the solution to my problem
Is this normal or do I have to wait more than 3 months? I’m very sad and I don’t know what to do??
September 24, 2022 at 15:41
Yes it normally takes a long time but you need to push, and take responsibility for your own case!
September 15, 2022 at 13:47
Hi Brett Simon
My case number is not currently available and I cannot access my DS260, knowing that I contacted kcc via e-mail, but there is nothing new in my case, what do you advise me???
Thank you
September 15, 2022 at 17:27
Hi Brit, from Argentina, finally no news about my interview, my conclusion is I opened ds 260 in October , I think that mistake made to delay my process. Anything i can do now ? Or Definitly I lose my chances . Thanks
September 24, 2022 at 15:45
30k people are not getting interviews, not just people who unlocked, so no – that is probably not the reason. DV2022 ends in a few days, so yes, your chance is almost gone. I’m sorry.
September 15, 2022 at 23:20
Hi Brit. Hope you are doing fine and would appreciate your help with a problem I have with my Interview Date. The KCC send me the interview date 14 Oct 2022 in Santiago Chile Embassy. My wife is pregnant and the delivery date is scheduled between 10-17 Oct 2022. We wanted to reshedule the date at usvisa-info.com and at first the date appered (14-oct) but then when we tried to reschedule and it dissappered and it shows this ¨red¨ notification ¨There are no available appointments at the selected location. Please try again later.¨ Now I am trying to understand beacouse when I call the US Embassy Chile the call center says the same that we does not apper to have any interview date in their system. I hope we did not do anything wrong.
Thank you for your help Brit.
Best Regards
Mario

Hi Brit, I hope this finds you well!
1- Can a Farmer who is self-employed (did not finish high school) works on his own land qualify to apply for lottery visa.
2- Can a Pharmacy Technician qualify to apply for Lottery Visa.
I tried to check it on the site but it is not clear. I appreciate your help!
September 16, 2022 at 20:53
Hi brit.what is the final décision of dv2020
September 24, 2022 at 18:21
The appeals are ongoing, so we won’t have a decision on that for weeks or months.
September 24, 2022 at 15:54
1. Probably not.
2. Depends on what that job really is – is it a skilled job that requires 2 years of training to perform the job? If so, then yes.
September 16, 2022 at 12:52
Hi Brit. Thank you for all your infomation and hope you are doing fine.
My wife is winner of DV-2023 with case number 2023EU14XX. We received an email with our interview date 14 OCT 2022. My wife is pregnant and the baby delivery date is between 10-17 OCT. We wanted to rescheduel the interview date and all the instructions took us to the usvisa-info.com. We registered to the platform and when we try to reschedule the date it says – There are no available dates at the selected location and does not show not even our interview date 14 OCT.
-My question is should I wait for any date to be available?
We emailed the consular office of Chile (Santiago,Chile US Embassy) and they responded that our case is not in their system. We emailed KCC and they respond they already sent the interview date to the respective consular office.
September 24, 2022 at 15:57
Only the embassy can help once the 2NL is sent.
September 16, 2022 at 13:25
Hello Sir,
I had a f1 visa appointment yesterday. My coumsellor told me to check my DV status and rejected my f1 visa. After that I found out that I am the winner of DV2023. I submitted the DS260 today( 16.9.2022). I know it’s late now. Do I have any chance to have a visa appointment?
September 24, 2022 at 18:11
Wow that’s the first time I have heard that the CO in an F1 refusal seemed to have knowledge of your DV selection! You chance depends on your case number. So – what is that (year, region, number range)
September 25, 2022 at 07:00
Thanks for your reply , Sir. My case number is 2023AS15***. I am from Burma (Myanmar).
September 26, 2022 at 14:37
Your case number won’t be current until well into next year, so it is too early to predict your chances. We will know more after January 1.
September 25, 2022 at 11:26
DV 2023
September 16, 2022 at 18:15
Hi Simon
I am the winner of 2023AS23*** from Afghanistan, and select Islamabad and I submitted my ds260 on 25, jul,2022
1.could I receive an email from KCC that shows my ds260 is processed?
If I could, but why until now I didn’t receive?
2.On my ds260 I made a mistake,
on my city postal code instead of 1701, I wrote 1702
Could I need to unlock my ds260?
3. According to your experience what do you think could I have any chance that receive 2NL?
September 24, 2022 at 18:21
1. Your case number won’t be ready for almost a year. Why the impatience?
2. Probably doesn’t matter, unlock if you wish.
3. Too early to know for sure.
September 17, 2022 at 01:53
Hi Brit,
What about DV2020 lawsuit decision on 16th September?
September 24, 2022 at 18:22
The appeals are ongoing, so we won’t have a decision on that for weeks or months.
September 17, 2022 at 05:46
Hello simon, I have 2 questions about the dv lotterry programme.
1)My case number is 2023AS7xxx. According to the visa bulletins published until now can you predict the month we will be getting our interview.?
2)someone said me that even though the interviewing process of dv2023 is set to begin in coming octorber interviews for dv 2023 really begins in december. Is this true simon.?
Thank you
September 24, 2022 at 18:23
1. Not exactly, but certainly not until early 2023
2. No. Interviews will start on October 1 for the lower case numbers.
September 17, 2022 at 13:13
Hello Simon,
Hope you are doing well.
Can I change my host after received visa ? If it’s yes please tell me how to change the host.
Thank you.
September 24, 2022 at 18:24
No one cares about your “host”. You can change the USA address (for the greencard to be mailed) at the POE (arrival airport)
September 18, 2022 at 14:17
Hi Brett Simon
I have a problem with block DS260
I have a question for you: Is communicating with kcc via e-mail to solve this problem useful or not?
Note that it has been more than two months since I contacted kcc
September 24, 2022 at 18:25
It’s useful if you make yourself clear and be persistent.
September 18, 2022 at 16:45
Hello dear Brit, we got visas, but my 20 year old daughter, who studies in Holland, is not able to join us, so she withdrew her application. will we be able to apply for the family reunion after we get green card? Of what can we do? Thank you in advance!
September 24, 2022 at 18:26
Yes – but that will take some years.
September 18, 2022 at 17:15
Thanks Brit’s for hardworking and support us
September 18, 2022 at 18:13
Hi Brits, My dv 2022 number is 2022AF37xxx and up till today I didn’t received the NL yet.
Is there is any hope it will be workable as the project will be end by this month
September 24, 2022 at 18:26
You will probably not get your interview if you don’t already have one. The DV2022 deadline ends next Friday.
September 19, 2022 at 01:14
Hi. Our case number is 2022AS4xxx
Last month, we entered USA and had been accepted as PR. Thank you for your all help!
There is one question. This month, my friend received 2 envelopes from USCIS despite we enrolled 3. Even though my kid’s age is under 5, will green card itself send individually? Will we receive 3 envelopes?
Regards,
September 24, 2022 at 18:31
Yes – they just sent them at different times.
September 19, 2022 at 01:23
Hi Brit. Could you tell me whether the green card will deliver separately or not?
Recently we received that 2 envelopes which should include the green cards. But we enrolled 3 of us(father, mother, kid). As the envelope are my friend’s house in US, we can’t open the envelope. should we receive 3 envelopes? Regards
September 19, 2022 at 01:26
Sorry for continuous question.
How can we know receipt number from USCIS which can tell us the visa status?
September 24, 2022 at 18:32
The package from USCIS will have information.
September 25, 2022 at 12:21
Thank you for your reply.
I will wait for my kid’s green card.
And could you tell me what is the package from USCIS? When did I receive?
September 26, 2022 at 14:39
The Greencard.
September 27, 2022 at 00:50
Thank you. How can we know the status of green card? We’ve finished our first entry to US 8/15. Normally, when can we receive all of green card?
September 28, 2022 at 11:45
Normally takes 2 to 4 months.
September 19, 2022 at 06:32
Good Day Mr. Brit,
Is it okay to change the background to white for photos that will be used for the DV Lottery 2024 application?
Thanks
September 24, 2022 at 18:34
Ideally, don’t do that. Use a light background with a white sheet or something to avoid edits, but if you have to edit just make sure they are not noticeable.
September 19, 2022 at 07:43
Hi Brits is form 1_134 is ready filed by my sponsor am worried about it
September 24, 2022 at 18:36
Yes the I-134 is completed by your sponsor, but then given to you to present at the interview if needed.
September 19, 2022 at 07:58
Hi Brit,
Im From Sri Lanka. I’m the DV winner of the family. If my dependents (Spouse and Kids) will face for a issue regarding their documents and medical will it be a problem for my visa too?
In such scenarios are they reject all our visas due to documentation issue of a one family member?
Are they issuing DV visa based on family units or for an individual basis?
September 21, 2022 at 17:06
No, they won’t reject your visa they will approve the visas for the applicants who don’t have any issues with their documents, Colombo embassy will ask you to correct the problems in the other documents and resubmit. Until then the CEAC status check site will show your visa is approved and others are rejected. They’ll get approved once you submit the correct documents.
September 21, 2022 at 17:25
Following are the documents requested by the Colombo embassy.
Birth Certificate + photocopy + translation
Marriage certificate + photocopy + translation
A/L results reference number from the examinations department OR work experience proof (primary applicant only)
Police clearance (for above 16 of age)
Medical reports
3 photos 2×2
Passport
for each family member
Prepare an affidavit for name changes if needed.
Other than that you’ll need
NIC (for the guard room security clearance)
Wedding photos if you are recently married
They don’t ask for degree certificates but take them with you if you have any.
Good luck!
September 24, 2022 at 18:37
Your case does not depend on the derivatives, but the derivatives depend on your outcome – they cannot be issued if you are refused.
September 19, 2022 at 08:47
Hi Brit, DV2021 here, in case charles kuck succeeds in winning more visas will it benefit Goh plaintiffs only or Goodluck will also benefit?
September 24, 2022 at 18:38
That is unclear at this time.
September 19, 2022 at 14:35
Hi Brit, I’m 2022AS9? and I had an interview in Ankara, I as the main applicant went for AP. So when I check my application status, it shows my case ”Refused” with the more that it would be refused until AP is finalized, and my wife “ready”. It’s been more than 180 business days and no update from the embassy and they do not answer any inquiry! I wonder if we can send my wife’s passport to get visa when I’m still in AP?
Is there any chance we get any update before Sep.30?
Thanks
Fate
September 24, 2022 at 18:39
Until October 1 there is a chance.
September 19, 2022 at 14:49
Good evening Simon, I was wondering what the deadline on 30th September is for? Is it only the ds260 or does it include corresponding to KCC etc?
September 24, 2022 at 18:39
The deadline refers to the end of each year for case approvals. DV2022 ends on 9/30/2022.
September 19, 2022 at 16:05
Hi Sharmila, same on my side – I think Brit is busy lately. Hopefully he will get back to us soon as he always does.
September 19, 2022 at 16:19
Yeah agreed, even I am hoping the same and wish him to back on floor soon as many souls like me are waiting for his assistance.
Thanks much for your response.
September 20, 2022 at 09:49

September 20, 2022 at 15:27
Hi Brit,
i am a winner dv2023
I am a student in Senegal but I am from Mauritanian. I realized that on my letter of selection my foreign chargeability is Senegal. Choose involuntarily.
can i continue the process?
Thanks for your work
September 24, 2022 at 18:44
Yes – because both countries are in the same region you will not normally be disqualified for your mistake.
September 25, 2022 at 11:38
Thank you Brit for the answer and for your remarkable work
September 21, 2022 at 00:07
Hi Simon,
I have question re $220 USCIS Fee for the payment of the actual green card.
When do we pay this fee on our activation / trip to endorse our green cards (ie. next 6mths) or when we move permanently within 12mths of activation?
The USCIS website is a little grey on this topic and thought of you with all your experience on the green card lottery.
Thanks in advance,
Sharlene
September 24, 2022 at 18:46
You must pay the fee to get the greencard, so you can pay before you enter the USA or shortly after entry.
September 21, 2022 at 11:33
Yes, I can see coments
September 21, 2022 at 16:04
But still I am not able to ……..I can see only the winners posting the question and not Brit’s response, is that I have to change any settings or issue with my browser!!!!
September 24, 2022 at 18:49
Patience…
September 21, 2022 at 17:31
Hi Simon,
My cousin is a pilot and he won the lottery. Will being a pilot be a problem for him to get the visa? A sailor I know got rejected because he is a sailor and the CO said sailors have different type of visas they can enter any country with that but they can’t have the PR.
Thanks
September 24, 2022 at 18:54
The sailor did not get rejected for a DV case because of being a sailor. Nor will the pilot be rejected for being a pilot.
September 21, 2022 at 18:43
Hi Brit, my family and I moved to the USA a couple of days back thanks to your valuable advise. Thank you so much.
Quick question: how do I change the order of my names from what is in my passport so as to have the desired order on my green card? I posed the question to the customs at our port of entry, he did some changes in the system and gave me the contact of CIS. He told me to contact them so they can effectuate the changes in the system, I did, they sent me a link, but can’t solve the problem. I just want to change the order of my name, but they are giving me options like changing my green card, renewing my green card, which I don’t yet have. I don’t want my green card to come with the order of my name on my passport. Please will really appreciate any advise from you on how to best solve this problem.
September 24, 2022 at 18:56
Your only option is to contact USCIS, but really they will issue the GC based on what was on the DS260.
September 24, 2022 at 23:28
Thank you Sir for your response. I really appreciate.
September 22, 2022 at 11:35

September 22, 2022 at 13:31
Dear sir,
Case Number :
2020AF00053204
I won the DV lottery in 2020. I did not go to the embassy because of the COVID 19 epidemic. What hope do I have after that?
I appreciate response.
Thank you.
September 24, 2022 at 18:59
There is a lawsuit that is trying to fight for the DV2020 selectees. The lawsuit was won, but the government appealed and we won’t know the outcome for a few months. However only 9095 visas were reserved for this lawsuit, so if we win the appeal, those visas will go to those that are paying attention, probably with an advantage for lower case numbers – so better start paying attention.
September 23, 2022 at 06:44

September 23, 2022 at 09:15
Hi,I am the winner of dv 2023 with an interview date in October, the sponsor in the USA is the owner of a restaurant and he sent me the taxes received from the federal government, he told me that all his income is there, but I did not see that he has a W-2, he says that I have no other forms, do you think that only those and the I-134 that he filled out are enough? Thank you
September 24, 2022 at 19:05
Normally he would have a tax report (form 1040) which should be provided to support the I-134.

Greetings Brit! Thanks for all the help, I got my Visa. You assisted me a lot and I’m grateful.
Sir, I’m having plans of returning to school when I get in the US not to do a full time job. I read from the Federal Student Aid official website https:///articles/things-you-need-for-fafsa/ that inorder to fill the FAFSA form you need to have your Federal Income Tax Return for the past year. Sir, can I still be accepted without having work history in the US since I’m just going in the US? What can I do in this instance?

Dear Simon,
I had I’m DV22 and had my interview this morning. The officer said they would approve my case and handed me an information sheet that said “your visa is nearly approved” and explained how they would send the passport back once the visa is printed. I asked the officer what nearly approved means and they said that I’m approved but it says nearly as long as the visa isn’t printed yet, which they will do within the next week.
When I logged into CEAC status check I saw that my status changed to “Admistrative Processing” now. Is that normally or do I need to be concerned?
Is there anything I could or should do?
(They didn’t request any further information at the interview etc).
Thanks in advance!
Liz

good evening britsimonsays I don’t know if my questions are stupid but I’m asking anyway 1- I’m in Cameroon I played the lottery twice, the first time I didn’t know how to break down the name in American format I played and i checked “no Middle Name* and the second time i played i broke down my name in US format so with “last name , first name and Middle Name” i was selected the second time now I don’t know if having checked “no Middle Name” for the first time can be a problem in the interview? 2- second question I have a cn: 2023Af19 *** possible to pass in January or February ?

1. No problem. You can explain if asked at the interview.
2. Maybe – we have to wait and see how the numbers move.

Hi Brit, If I submit an Entry (DV2024) on first day (oct 5) rather than any later date, in case of being selected will that determine my case number (lower)?
September 24, 2022 at 19:22
No. The draw is random and the timing of the entry makes no difference. By entering on the first day, you are just adding stress for no reason because there system will be busy.
