Dear Simon,
Could you please explain how to track my green card delivery.
December 3, 2023 at 19:28
The tracking starts from about 90 days, by which time many people already have their greencards. So don’t bother thinking about tracking it.
December 3, 2023 at 15:11
Hey Simon, hope you are well. In line with your recent video about Asia, where would a case number of AS125XX stand risk wise chances of 2NL. I am from Turkey (Ankara embassy) and am a bit scared. Thank you!
December 3, 2023 at 19:27
You will have to wait and see. Ankara are inconsistent in their performance.
December 3, 2023 at 14:52
Hi Simon,
I entered DV2025 in October. If I apply to study the upcoming fall 2024 and apply for an F-1 visa. Will there be a risk if a happen to win the lottery.
December 3, 2023 at 19:26
No
December 3, 2023 at 14:14
Hi Simon! Any advice on finding a host in the USA since I’ve got no friends or relatives living there? Most likely going to try and find someone through some groups/forums online.
December 3, 2023 at 19:26
I don’t have any tips for that.
December 3, 2023 at 12:34
Hi there, My wife’s case number EU21XXX, I filled ds260 in June while I was in Ukraine. In October this year I arrived to Poland and I’m planning to stay here till our interview in Warsaw. Should I change my address in my derivative DS260?
December 3, 2023 at 13:51
Yes
December 3, 2023 at 10:37
Hello Brit! As always thank you for your time! My wife is as a dv2024 selectee. and she received the 2nl with an appointment in january. i opened today the page in ceac to see if we have to pay any fees and the page suddenly shows two entries per my name (husband) on ds260. One with state completed, and a NEW one with state start entry. This was not showing like two weeks ago. Do you have any idea how is this possible?
Thank you
December 3, 2023 at 13:51
No – but you can ignore it. There should be one for each of you, but any left uncompleted will just stay as is.
December 3, 2023 at 14:01
Thank you! i was afraid if it was like a sign from ceac or embassy in order to request something, since as i mentioned, it wasnt there two weeks ago. Best!!
December 3, 2023 at 08:05
hello, Mr simon ,i have a question about social media accounts, i provided my instagram account in ds 260, but it is private it is okay?
or i must make it public.
December 3, 2023 at 08:09
No need to change it – just list it.
December 2, 2023 at 17:58
hi simon so my case number is 65xxx i think is high im in kosovo in the embassy in skopje macedonia what do you think do i get a chance to get a interview or not
December 2, 2023 at 19:41
If your region is EU, then yes it is a very high number and therefore risky.
December 2, 2023 at 10:34
Mr simon, I’m sorry but could not get your answer clearly, the thing I want be sure about , is that health status is a negative point if mentioned in medical check?
If somebody occupied at home country and shows financial stability that can get a job and insurance plan when reaches US then does that pose any public charge?
Thanks again for your input.
December 2, 2023 at 10:40
I think this Q is shifted out of our conversation chain, this was in response of the monthly hormonal injection therapy.
Thanks.
December 2, 2023 at 13:05
What is confusing about the answer “no”?
December 2, 2023 at 18:16
Great sir I got it, the way you wrote
bordering on “are you sure”.
But no.
I thought your not sure of for my situation if does affect negatively.
So I can mention my situation comfortably in the medical check.
Thanks alot❤️
December 2, 2023 at 09:02
Hi Simon,
I understand that “all DV-2024 diversity visa program applicants must be found eligible for, and obtain, their visa or adjust status by the end of fiscal year 2024 (September 30, 2024)”.
But I don’t understand which part of the DV process exactly has to be completed before the end of September 2024. Is it just an interview at the embassy or is it activation trip to US? Or something else?
December 2, 2023 at 09:16
The visa approval must be given and the visa issued. The activation trip can be after the end of the fiscal year.
December 2, 2023 at 01:13
Hi Simon. Just FYI. Someone posted in a Facebook group that one case number is 35k for Nepal for DV 2024
December 2, 2023 at 09:14
Thanks. I’m always wary of such reports because it can be a misunderstanding, but as of now I don’t have a confident number for either Iran or Nepal.
December 1, 2023 at 14:32
Hey Mr.simon
Hope you doing well
Can you plz shed a light on medical health issues refusal reasons plz
I’m a doctor at my home country and I have chronic once monthly hormone replacement therapy injections(HCG) lifelong , will it be an issue for diversity visa issuance per your experience?
Thanks alot for your input.

This is bordering on “are you sure”.
But no.
December 1, 2023 at 10:34
Hi dear britsimon
Today I texted Kcc about my status case they respond to me like this :
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. I would like maybe u can explain to me please?
December 1, 2023 at 13:28
It means “Your forms have been received and are currently processing. “
December 1, 2023 at 09:49
Hello Simon
I just watched your video on YouTube and I’m wondering if smoking marijuana (Cannabis) causes a problem ? (Not high doses at all) 😂
Thank you dear.
December 1, 2023 at 13:27
Generally no, unless it becomes an issue of “habitual” drug use.
December 1, 2023 at 09:04
Hi, I won the DV, If I visited USA with a visitor’s visa, can break the visa conditions, and change my case to resident?
December 1, 2023 at 09:12
No.
December 1, 2023 at 09:18
Thanks for the prompt reply. What do you suggest I do if I am in the US, with a high DV number that won’t get me interviewed in my country?
December 1, 2023 at 13:26
Your question is vague because you did not give me the case number/country. You might want to consider moving to another country, but breaking the terms of your USA visa makes you ineligible to adjust status, so that would be the worst mistake to make.
December 1, 2023 at 08:06
Hi Brit
I am the main applicant with a spouse and 3 kids. my spouse says he wont get covid vaccinated, and wont attend the interview. i know later down the line when i relocate with the kids and not with him, he will eventually want to join us abroad. When i proceed with the process,
1. how do i fill the ds 260 if i want myself and my kids to do medicals and have interview?
2. can he then do his medicals and interview at a later stage within FY and join us
December 1, 2023 at 08:36
There isn’t a lot of time to get these things done to get your husband processed. Do you really think there is time for your husband to gain clarity about having a vaccine. Probably not, right?
But just in case he does, complete the DS260s for all of you, and list him as your spouse on yours. Then when it is time for the medical and interview he can attend or not – his choice. If he doesn’t attend at that point, then he will be staying behind.
December 1, 2023 at 06:06
Hello Britsimon,
I just watched your video on youtube about the medical for the DV. And, I have some questions about the vaccinations as I am little confused.
in this website: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/vaccinations.html
the list contains 15 vaccinations
and in this website: https://www.uscis.gov/tools/designated-civil-surgeons/vaccination-requirements
the list contains 9 vaccinations + Any other vaccine-preventable diseases recommended by the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP)
and in this website: https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/laws-regs/vaccination-immigration/revised-vaccination-immigration-faq.html
the list contains 14 vaccinations
So, each of the 3 websites has different number of vaccinations, and I am not sure which list to depend on ! . I am a DV2024 winner, but with a high case number (2024AS41xxx), and I have taken the vaccinations required in my country (Saudi Arabia) when I was a kid. And, I have updated one of the Vaccines at walgreens when I used to study in the U.S as it was required by the university. However, I have not taken some of the vaccinations which are listed in the website as they were not required in my country when I was a child; and maybe they are not required in my country until now !
based on the vaccinations lists from the 3 websites, I have not taken these Vaccines:-
Hepatitis A
Haemophilus influenzae type B
Influenza
Influenza type b (Hib)
Pneumococcal
Rotavirus
Varicella
Seasonal influenza
Please note that I was born in January of 1990. So, I am 33 years old, and I will be 34 by the time I go current and do to the medical (if my high case number gets current and I get a chance to be interviewed ! ) .
The vaccinations I have taken since I was born are:-
Dipatheria-Pertussis-Tetanus (D.P.T): 3 doses and 2 boosters
Tetanus/Dipatheria: 1 dose (at age of 21 as required by the university)
B.C.G. (Turberculosis): 1 dose
Poliomyelitis: 3 doses and 2 boosters
Measles: 1 dose
M. M. R. (Mumps, Measles, Rubella): 1 dose
Hepatitis B: 3 Doses
menengitis (Meningococcal): 1 dose
COVID-19: 2 doses and 1 booster
Now I am not sure wither I start taking all the vaccines I have not taken, or I should wait until my high case number gets current and then go to the medical and see what the doctor says about it ! . However, I am afraid if I wait until I get the chance to do the medical, it will be too late to take all the missed vaccines, especially if they require some weeks or months apart (between each vaccine ! )
I apologize for the long message, but I will deeply appreciate it if you respond with your thoughts on my case, and your advise.
Thank you very much Simon for all your help
December 1, 2023 at 08:40
As you are interviewing abroad the controlling authority is DoS (travel.state.gov).
However, you don’t need to take vaccinations before the medical, the physician will understand vaccination program history in your country and administer anything that might be required.
And yeah, it might well be a moot point because of your case number.
December 1, 2023 at 08:51
Thank you very much for your reply Simon, and for clarifying that the (travel.state.gov) is the source to follow.
Do you think its a good idea if I can consult the approved panel physician before the medical, so that I can have enough time to take any additional required vaccinations before the medical?
Thanks again Simon
December 1, 2023 at 09:13
You are an overthinker aren’t you.
I already said they would do that at the medical. If you do it before the medical you might have more jabs than needed.
Relax.
December 1, 2023 at 09:25
I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused Simon. Maybe I overthought about it as this is a once in a lifetime chance which nobody wants to lose for any mistake !
Thanks for your answer again. I appreciate it 🙂
December 1, 2023 at 04:24
Hello Simon.
If I got selected and submitted DS-260 but couldn’t get a visa due to high CN, what should I answer precisely to the following question in DS-160 when applying for a nonimmigrant visa?
“Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services?”
Thanks for you help!
December 1, 2023 at 08:40
“Yes”
November 30, 2023 at 18:14
Hey Brit. Curious if you know how Sofia’s embassy performs with DV visas.
November 30, 2023 at 19:44
It issued 1 visa in October, but since there are very few local cases, we can’t say that is bad.
December 4, 2023 at 02:20
How about Addis Ababa embassy, if you have same information, please sir.
Thank you so much.
December 1, 2023 at 03:41
I am from Bulgaria too.
My interview is scheduled in January.
If you want, give me your email and we can share information!
November 30, 2023 at 09:27
Hello!
Help us with your advice and ideas because me and my wife have an interview for this month of December and we are confused after the medical examination.
My concerns:
1. We got married officially before the selection, my wife is the winner.
2. We have had our medical examination and after this, the hospital calls us to complete our vaccinations including the COVID one because it is obligatory.
And in the end the doctor will tell my wife that her chest x-ray (lung) is not really clear and she has to go to the hospital for a sputum sample for 3 days, we have to do a culture just to check if there is nothing. And the result will be ready in 56 days but our interview is in a few days.
Can this disqualify us or how?
We are worried 😥
November 30, 2023 at 19:41
It means you will be delayed while you wait for the clear medical report.
December 1, 2023 at 05:13
Thank you so much
November 30, 2023 at 07:44
Hello Mr Simon I would like to ask, if someone’s case is current and they want to change the place of interview. how can someone do so?
November 30, 2023 at 08:39
At the top of the pages on my blog there is a search button (looks like a magnifying glass). You could type “change embassies” in there and the first result will be an article explaining how to change embassies.
November 29, 2023 at 23:54
Hello Simon,
DV2024 winner, My case number is in the 2024AS19***
I can’t log in and check my visa application status every time gives me error Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number
https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=IV
But I looked into my Ds260 Form, and I can see that your form is completed
https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx
What’s my problem?
Should I do something to see my status, or because I’m not current now, is that the reason?
November 30, 2023 at 08:37
The status tracker on CEAC will not allow ANY DV2024 case to be checked until January 1.
November 29, 2023 at 14:09
Hello Simon,
DV2024 winner, OC region. My case number is in the 4000. I just have two questions:
1. what information do you have about the performance of the Suva Fiji embassy?
2. do you think I could apply for a tourist visa while waiting for this to process? My sister in law who lives in US just had major stroke and I want to go see her before it is too late. would applying for tourist visa affect my DV proceedings?
Thanks
Munia

Hi Brit. My case number is 2024AS261XX. I’m currently living in the US and plan to do AOS. KCC sent me the adjustment letter today. Is this the “2NL” for AOSers? Does it indicate that my case number have a good chance of becoming current? 🙂 I hope I’m not reading too much into this lol.
November 29, 2023 at 20:31
It is the 2NL for AOS, but unlike CP it does not mean you can start your process. You can only file when your number is announced as becoming current in the VB. After 4 months the VB for AS is at 3000, so you have a long anxious wait ahead to see if you become current.
For AOS you should be getting your information from “Sm1smom” – https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2024-aos-adjustment-of-status-process-only.346971/
November 29, 2023 at 05:26
Dear Simon,
I passed my interview this morning and my visa is going to be issued next week.
But my main concerned now is my previous host which I intent to live with seems to change their mind now without a reason.
1. Can you advise how can I do in order to change the mailing address into the new one for SSN and Green card sending in the USA? I really have no idea now.
2. Will it complicated for the process of sending according to your experience
I appreciate your kindness, and will soon share my interview experience in your blog too because I also encounter some abnormal process.
November 29, 2023 at 07:26
1. You can change that USA address at the POE – but make sure you insist that the officer lets you do that.
2. Not if you follow the advice in point 1.
November 29, 2023 at 05:13
Hi Brit,
thanks for all the work and information you are providing.
I have been listening to your latest YT video regarding the Monthly Diversity Visa (DV) Issuances for October 2023. My question is , if the certain country is not on the list at all, means they have not processed the DS260s or it just happens there were no cases to be scheduled for that particular month? Is that something to worry or not? My embassy is Zagreb, Croatia..
I also see Serbia only had two issues visas… and this is the regional country.
My doubt is how well are these so called small countries equipped to solve cases…is there backlog. I know you can’t know this, I am just thinking out loud..
Where can we see how many potential cases are there for a certain country for the DV2024 ? Is that even available ?
Thanks for all the help.
Best regards
November 29, 2023 at 07:28
In the video I showed the September visa bulletin which has the selectee numbers per country.
When looking at the performance of a country you have to consider what they “should” have done as well as what they actually did. It is possible that a country might have issued no visas in October, and that would be OK, whilst for another embassy that would be a bad sign.
November 28, 2023 at 19:21
Hello Mr Simon. Could a case be scheduled for an interview without receiving an email notification, or the 2nl in the entrant check status website?
November 28, 2023 at 19:37
No, but what does happen is that people miss their 2NL email (it goes to a spam folder).
November 28, 2023 at 23:08
Greetings Simon,
Quick question: I applied for DV2025 but somehow I didn’t enter my maiden name or marked as a none, can’t exactly remember. Do you think that will be the case of disqualification? After marriage I kept my maiden name + hyphenated with my husband’s last name.
Your expertise is greatly appreciated!
Julia
November 28, 2023 at 23:11
It’s no problem.
November 28, 2023 at 23:47
Thanks, Simon. I hope one day I can also enjoy the beautiful weather in Cali :).
Greetings from freezing Canada :).
November 29, 2023 at 07:06
Hi Mr Simon how long is take the ds260 to bé proceesed on Africa région AF38xxx ds260 submit 15june 2023 ?thank you again
November 29, 2023 at 07:24
The time varies, but as you are not current yet, it doesn’t matter. If you want to know whether your DS260 is processed or not, you can email KCC and ask them.
November 28, 2023 at 17:07
Hello Simon,
1. How is the Suva, Fiji embassy performance?
2. My case number is DV 2024OC40xx. While I am waiting for this, do you think I can apply for a tourist visa to US? My sister in law who already lives there has suffered a major stroke and I would like to go see her. I have visited the US before in 2012. Will applying for tourist visa affect my DV Visa chances negatively? Should I just not risk it?
Thank you!
Munia Mausi
November 28, 2023 at 19:36
Suva is great, but unfortunately your case number is not likely to become current. There are far too many selectees in DV2024, and OC is the most over selected region by percentages. They did not use all the cases in DV2023, and yet the DV2024 selectee count for OC has increased by 77%. That’s just not going to work for high case numbers such as yours.
So go visit your sister in law, and come to terms with the challenge your number presents.
November 28, 2023 at 16:01
Hi Brit, I have a quick question. I have applied for an asylum case and haven’t been interviewed and now my wife is coming to the US and I would like to add her to my case, what forms do I need to file to add my wife?
November 28, 2023 at 16:27
I only answer DV lottery questions.
November 28, 2023 at 09:31
Can travel history to Cuba (holidays) be a problem in case of selection?
Probability of selection is very low, so I don’t want to change my holiday plans, but on the other hand it would be very sad to lose the opportunity because of holidays in case of selection.
November 28, 2023 at 09:34
Selection is random and is obviously not affected by travel plans.
If selected, travelling to Cuba won’t be a problem.
November 28, 2023 at 05:07
Hi,
I didn’t get the covid vax. Now I went to get it in order to be eligible for the green card I won, and I am told there are no more Pfizer shot + booster, but a new vax which is a single shot. Is it acceptable to get only this, which is supposed to be a 3rd shot, as the single covid vax? thanks
November 28, 2023 at 07:25
I would assume so, although I am not a doctor.
November 27, 2023 at 17:54
Hey Simon, I hope you’re doing well! Would it be a problem in the interview If my DV application address is different than the one in my official documents since I’ve been living in a different town for years and haven’t changed the place of residence yet, even though the towns are one hour away from each other?
November 27, 2023 at 17:56
No
November 27, 2023 at 17:49
In my case, I am learning a 1 year course in a different country and i can’t move to my previous country so can i change my interview location to my newest country by asking the embassy which i am living right now or is there any way to change still being current?
November 27, 2023 at 17:58
I saw your message on twitter but I will answer here.
Prior to scheduling, changing embassies involves KCC, and is based on the address. After you have been scheduled for interview the process is a “transfer” between embassies – and has nothing to do with KCC. It is described in more detail at the link below.

Hello Simon. I’m in the USA on an F1 visa and recently won the DV lottery. However, I’ve relocated to an address that’s different from the one listed in my selection letter. I’m preparing to proceed with the Adjustment of Status (AOS). Could you guide me on whether I need to inform the relevant authorities about my new address, and if so, how? Thanks.
November 27, 2023 at 17:55
No – that new address will be on your I-485.

Hi Britsimon.
I may not readily remember the errors we would have committed in the initial entry since we can’t get hold of it and I gave the information to someone to enter the DV for us.
The most accurate information I can remember in addition to our names and derivatives info is our civil status as married. And that we did since 2018.
Now that I can’t get hold of the entry form, we simply filled in correct data and per your advice we just added our new born.
Just that we decided to drop two of our kids due to issue we can’t make bare.
What would KCC do if there are little discrepancies in maybe derivatives data in the initial entry compared to the utmost accurate data in the DS-260?
November 27, 2023 at 17:54
It depends on the seriousness of the discrepancies. If you entirely omitted a derivative, that means disqualification, but if you have a minor typo on the name of a child or something like that, then there is no problem.
November 27, 2023 at 22:49
Thanks indeed. I am not sure it’s an outright omission. It could be DOB or POB of a derivative not outright omission because when I signed in to fill out the DS-260, all my derivatives appear in the case. So it’s not such a situation.
Thanks indeed for your helpful information.
November 27, 2023 at 08:30
Hello Simon, I entered wrong DOB of my Father in my DS-260 form. (I know that sounds really stupid but it happened due to some misunderstanding). Now, should I change it by unlocking the form or not? For your reference, my case no is AS11K+. Thank You.
November 27, 2023 at 17:52
Assuming you are the selectee and not your father, then you can make this correction at the interview.
December 11, 2023 at 00:23
Oh thank you Simon, I was really worried about that situation. Now I can be in releaf.
November 27, 2023 at 06:48
hello, we have the US-VISA lottery interview on January and the Health check on December.
If we would be accepted on January 2024, Do you know when is the limit date to enter to the US states to start to start to live whole family? I read that i have 6 months after the health-check to enter to US but I understood that could be a quick visit to the US and come back to Europe after this what we can do to finish our personal managements?
We are asking because we would like o close some family managements, finish the present school course of my kids, sell home, etc. Also we are people that use to work from home in Europe for American Companies so most part of the interview will start in remote as my previous jobs.
Thank you very much ! Really appreciate your content and help. People like you in world makes a better world. thanks
November 27, 2023 at 17:51
Your current understanding is accurate.
The visas will be issued with an expiration of the medical date plus 6 months. You must enter the USA to activate the status before the expiry date.
You can then leave as soon as you like and each absence from the USA should ideally be under 6 months, although up to 12 months is “OK” (but with more likelihood of questions from the immigration officer).
December 1, 2023 at 15:17
“Thank you. Do you happen to know the expiration date of the green card and the frequency of its renewal? Is it required annually, every five years, or every ten years? I have a friend who obtained a green card through a company, unlike us who acquired it through the DV-Lottery. Are the renewal rules the same for us as well? Thanks once again. I really appreciate it .
December 1, 2023 at 15:46
However you obtain permanent resident status, the status is permanent (unless revoked for some rare reason). The plastic greencard itself is renewed every 10 years.
November 27, 2023 at 03:46
Hello Brit! When filing ouț the DS260 forum. I have to menționat the unmarried child of 25 years old, but specify that he îs not going with me to America?
If you win în May when must the DS260 form be filled out?
If 15 years or more have passed since I lived în another country, do I still need a police certificate from that country?
Are the documents still Sent to KCC or are they only brought to the interview?
Thank you very much for your help
November 27, 2023 at 17:48
1. You complete the DS260 as soon as possible.
2. Yes you will need police certs.
3. Documents are shown only at the interview.

Hello, Simon, AF28K Nairobi. i am currently in Guangzhou, China for study. Initially when i was filling out the Ds-260 form, my present address was Nairobi, Kenya. and both the mailing address and interview location were in Guangzhou, China. I want to know if the present address may affect the embassy i chose for an interview location which is in Guangzhou, China. appreciate the amazing work you do sir.

DV2022 is over, having finished well over 1 year ago. This cannot be fixed now. Your chance is lost.

is hiring a lawyer will be useful, because on ceac.com website my visa still issued?
November 28, 2023 at 07:24
But you would have had to have used your visa before the expiry date.
But if you want to discuss it with a lawyer, you are free to do that.

Is yours a DV2023 or DV2024 case? If it is DV2024 this shouldn’t be a problem.

Hi Simon, do you think that having my certificates evaluated by a Credential Evaluation Service is worth it ? As I’m not sure that my GCE award will be accepted (In Mauritius, The HSC is the Certificate given after completion of 13 years of school years, but if the criterias are not met then a GCE award is given to the candidate)
November 27, 2023 at 17:42
Credential evaluation can be expensive – so it really is your choice. Generally the embassies will form (and trust) their own opinion, sometimes using another embassy if the education happened in some other country..

Greetings Brit Simon
DV2023 winner. I have greatly benefited from your teachings and blogs throughout our dv journey. God bless you.
We safely arrived and settled in Arizona beginning of this month – myself, my 21 year old daughter and my 14 year old son.
HERE IS HOW OUR JOURNEY WENT:
We are originally from Zimbabwe but had settled in South Africa for about 15 years. We Received 2NLs in Nov 2022 and Interviews were scheduled for mid May this year in Johannesburg and medicals a week before. However I rescheduled the medicals due to lack of funds. Medicals were done exactly a week after interviews.
During interviews some of the questions asked were:
-How are you all related
-Who is your host and what is your relationship
-Why are you choosing to move to the US
-What will you do in the US, i.e plans for work, studying etc
They requested all school transcripts, all listed documents etc. and verified and we were informed that since we hadn’t yet done the medicals we should probably expect our visas after 6 weeks or so. We left with the biggest smiles on our faces and prayed all would go well with medicals.
Medicals went well and we waited for our visas. However towards end of July when we were expecting our visas I received a call to go back in for a sputum test because of my tb history and results from the X-rays. I did so immediately and was disappointed there was a 6-8 weeks wait. It was a long and painful wait😓🙇♀️ and a lot of my people began to doubt that the visas would even come out.
Fast forward, a few hours before the public announcement in Sept of the early conclusion of the dv2023 program our statuses changed to issued🥳🤗. Can’t explain the joy, the relief, the excitement..
Had to wait a couple of weeks before the email notification to collect the visas. Collected visas next day, and left South Africa for the States about a month later.
Initially was supposed to go to Texas but my host backed out last minute so ended up finding another host in Arizona and changed host address at port of entry in Seattle.
This has been our journey thus far. It was truly a tough and trying journey for us esp having to wait longer than most. In the end we thank God for connecting us with amazing people along this humbling journey and to those starting the process all the best and don’t give up!

Hello Simon,
I am an international student in the US. I am a citizen of Nepal and my birthplace is also Nepal. I applied for DV lottery 2025. So, my question is –
If someone gets selected in the lottery who is currently in the US on a non immigrant visa, how do they proceed?
November 26, 2023 at 16:36
There is a process called “adjustment of status”. But first you have to get selected!

Hi Brit Simmons,
I am DV 2024 AF 3K whose Visa got approved on 22nd Nov at Accra Embassy. Family of 3. Please do Embassy still do background check before they print visa and normally how long does it take to get passport
November 26, 2023 at 09:45
The verbal approval is not 100% certain. In some cases they do additional checks. But if no additional checks are needed then you will get the passports back in a week or so.
November 27, 2023 at 04:05
Thanks Brit,
So in such circumstances, what are some of the additional checks they do?
November 27, 2023 at 17:48
It varies by case.

Hello Mr Simon I hope you are well.
I would like to ask you about the performance of Doha embassy. I am from Morocco and I live in Qatar. I am current but didn’t get 2nl. In Morocco they reached 14600 as far as I know I don’t know if I will be scheduled in accordance with interviews given to Moroccans, or Doha embassy not taking any interviews. I sent an email to the embassy but still didn’t get a reply.
November 26, 2023 at 09:43
No need to worry. There is no reason to think Doha will not schedule.

Hi Brit, Good news. My parents visa have been approved. A quick one btw, they handed them a single sheet on to create an account for a courier service to have it delivered.in creating the account on, we selected DV1 and included my dad as a beneficiary in one single request form. I hope that should be okay instead of creating separate account for DV1 (main applicant)and DV2 (Beneficiary)
November 26, 2023 at 09:42
One account is fine.

Hello Mr Simon ,
I want to ask you something that I think you had also done as you were a UK citizen. As a foreign student, do I have to apply for the police report certificate here in UK or I can have from my country. Also here are two kinds of certificate ; DBS and ACRO, if here then which one? Also I have been only here for 10 months so am I eligible for applying here?
Thank you
November 25, 2023 at 14:06
The instructions make this clear. You will need a certificate, and the type of certificate is described in the reciprocity instructions.
