***UPDATE – please watch this video to make sure you do not make a mistake***
One of the blog readers received his documents required email and noticed there was a difference in the format and content of the email. Thanks Ran!
I think it’s an interesting and important change – so I wanted to get this out.
I will include the new email text below, but I will first call out some important differences.
First – the email timing may have changed. Previously the email talked about the DS260 processing being finished. The new format talks about the DS260 having been submitted. That suggests that they are going to ask for documents earlier – soon, or immediately after DS260 submission. There was a case a few days ago that was asked within a few days of submission – so this email format and my assumption is somewhat corroborated by that report.
Second the marriage and divorce documentation are now being requested (where that is needed). So married people are being asked to provide those documents before getting interviews scheduled. That is important.
Third this is now a naming convention being suggested for the documents themselves – and more clarity about how the email should be referenced. I’m sure this is an attempt to improve the workflow for the backend team who are processing these documents, so stick closely to these formats if you want a smooth document procedure.
Let me expand on their naming convention – these are ideal filenames to make it as simple as possible for them.
Each document should be scanned and saved with a filename that clearly identifies the case number, applicant name (principal or derivative name), and finally the document.
Case Number, they are showing they want the full case number with leading zeros – KCC often “prefer” the leading zeros to ensure precise reference of the case. Use that for the document and the subject.
Name should be firstname_lastname format.
Document should be one of the following list Passport, Birth_Certificate, Marriage_certificate, Divorce_document, Death_certificate, Annulment_paper, Military_record, Police_certificate_country_XXX , Court_record_country_XXX.
If translations are needed, then add “_translation” on the filename.
So you will end up with documents like this:
2020AF00938653_John_Doe_Birth_Certificate.pdf 2020AF00938653_John_Doe_police_certificate_country_france.pdf 2020AF00938653_John_Doe_police_certificate_country_france_translation.pdf 2020AF00938653_John_Doe_marriage_certificate.pdf
and so on…
I hope that’s clear. You can combine one persons documents into one multiple page scan – so in that case just change the filename to say “all_documents” after the applicant name. Really – just use some common sense about this. The email below has all the instructions already.
Their example (and mine) uses pdf as the file extension but you can also scan files to jpg or jpeg file format.
Lastly – I get a lot of people asking several questions. Let me try and list those here to cut down on the times I am asked these same things.
Q: Should send documents without being asked?
A: There really isn’t any need to do that unless we are getting late in the processing year (say March/April). Until then, wait for your request, especially if your case number is high anyway.
***Update*** in DV2021 and DV2022 it is clear that sending documents without being asked is probably the best choice, on balance. It has worked for some people and you cannot just sit and wait while KCC get around to asking you.
Q: Does getting this email guarantee an appointment/that they are happy with my DS260/That there are enough visas etc.
A: No – none of those things can be assumed simply because you got this email.
Q: What is the order that these emails are sent/is it case number order/why has so and so number had theirs when I have not had mine.
A: We do not know the order in which these emails are sent. Don’t worry about it – nothing should be assumed about that order or the lack of an order. RELAX!
Q: If I send my documents early, can I be interviewed before my case number is current on the Visa Bulletin.
A: NO!!!!! No one is scheduled until their case number is current.
Q: I already sent the documents before this change, do I need to send again?
A: If you received the email that starts “Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center.” then NO you would not need to send again. If you have not received that email, you may need to send documents again – please wait a few days then check with KCC.
OK – so here is the email with full instructions. Please read it – and don’t ask me questions that are directly answered in the email or this article. PLEASE. I am CRAZY busy at the moment in my own work AND the busy lottery season. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be respectful of my time.
——————————————- Email Pasted Below ——————————————
Congratulations on your selection for the 2020 Diversity Visa program!
The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) hereby confirms receipt of the DS-260 Diversity Visa application form for you and each accompanying family member(s). Please read this email and carefully follow the instructions listed in order to have your application processed as quickly as possible.
Now that your application form has been submitted, you should review the list of required documents for processing below and send those to KCC to review as part of your application package. You will only be scheduled for interview at an overseas consular post after you have submitted all documents required for your case and your visa rank number has become current.
All documents should be submitted as attachments to your email to ensure they are properly received. We ask that you use the following method to name and attach your files:
– Your DV case number;
– The full name of the applicant whose document you scanned; and
– The document name or form number.
Use your case number as the subject of the email. The maximum email size is 30MB. If the total size of your attachments is larger than 30MB, send multiple emails using your case number as the subject of each email. Please send your documents for KCC review only after you have collected all of the required documents for yourself and all accompanying family members. Send documents only to the [email protected] email address.
Documents photographed or scanned with a mobile phone are acceptable, but every document must be fully legible. Illegible or incomplete documents must be re-submitted and will delay processing of your case.
All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which the application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the translation is accurate and the translator is competent to translate.
* IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not mail any documents to KCC. Any documents sent to KCC will not be processed and will be destroyed.
You and each family member immigrating with you to the United States should collect the civil documents that are required to support your visa application.
Passport Biographic Page: You and each family member immigrating with you must submit a photocopy of the biographic data page of a currently valid passport. The biographic data page is the page with your photograph, name, date, and place of birth.
Birth Certificate: You and each family member immigrating with you must submit a scan of an original birth certificate or certified copy.
Marriage Certificate: If you are married, you must submit a scan of your original marriage certificate or certified copy.
Marriage Termination Documentation: If you were previously married, you must submit scanned evidence of the termination of EVERY prior marriage you have had. Your scanned evidence must be of an original or certified copy of one of the following documents: FINAL legal divorce decree, death certificate, or annulment papers.
Military Records: If you served in the military of any country, you must submit a scanned copy of your military record.
Police Certificates: If you are 16 years of age or older, you must submit a scanned copy of a police certificate from all countries you have lived in using below criteria:
|If you …||AND you…||THEN submit a police certificate from…|
|Are 16 years old or older||Lived in your country of nationality for more than 6 months at any time in your life||Your country of nationality|
|Are 16 years old or older||Have lived in your country of current residence (if different from nationality) for more than 6 months||Your country of current residence|
|Have ever lived in another country for 12 months or more||Were 16 years or older at the time you lived there||The country where you used to live.|
|Were arrested for any reason, regardless of how long you lived in that city or country, and no matter what age you were||The city and/or country where you were arrested.|
Court Record: If you have been convicted of a crime, provide a certified copy of each court record and any prison record.
Collect and submit your documents promptly. Your case will not be scheduled for a visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate until KCC has received and processed all required documents. Missing or illegible documents will delay processing of your case. If you cannot obtain a particular document, send an explanation of why you cannot obtain the document, as an attachment in .jpeg or .pdf format, to [email protected], with your case number in the subject line. Diversity visas are numerically limited and there is no guarantee a visa will be available. Only a consular officer can determine, at the time of the visa interview, if you are qualified to receive a Diversity Visa.
If you have questions about document submission, you may contact KCC at [email protected]. The KCC telephone number is 606-526-7500 (7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. EST).

My wife’s passport will expire on May 5 2022 and I submitted the application on her old passport
1- Do I have to send the new and old passport when they ask me for documents?
2- Or will I send it separately, I mean not send it with the rest of the documents?

I’ve won 2021 dv lottery filled ds260 form. I am number EU35XXX . Should i wait to receive an email or just send documentations as soon as i hve them prepared? Also having that high case number will i even have chance to get interview scheduled if i send documents in next couple of days?
August 18, 2021 at 02:14
You should send the documents, but I cannot predict what will happen. You will have to hope the lawsuits achieve a preservation of visas.
August 16, 2021 at 19:28
You said in your article that we should neme the passport then its translation in two different file while when you translate a document they sign all the page and a copy of the original document and its all togather not separate . So the translation and a copy of original document is in one document all signed by traslator .
In this case its ok to send it once translation and copy of the document in the same file? If yes how to name it? Do we need to mention its translation or no need as its clear in the document?
August 16, 2021 at 19:30
Of course i know passport does not need translation it was an example, lets say birth certificate

August 16, 2021 at 22:08

Do you think it is going to be a problem?

Hello, 2022EU16xxx here.
I’ve submitted the DS-260 on July 30th, but still did not receive the KCC letter for documents submittal.
Also, I have a few questions/concern:
1) How many weeks/months typically pass, from the DS260 submittal to the KCC request?
2) In my home country, there are two different police records (as identified by the reciprocity page). The first one being the “Casellario Giudiziale” and the second one the “Carichi Pendenti”.
When I send the documents to KCC shall I use their original Italian name, or simply name them:
2022EUxxxxxx_John_Doe_police_certificate_1_country_italy.pdf and 2022EUxxxxxx_John_Doe_police_certificate_2_country_italy.pdf?
Or rather shall I call them:

Good Day Simon
I am DV2022 winner with case number AS2xxx, the interview embassy located in Riyadh Saudi Arabia, and its open and working.
i submitted my DS-260 early July , but till now i didn’t receive the documents email from KCC.
i prepared all my Civil documents and i am going to send all of them by tomorrow without KCC email.
Question (1): All my civil documents are in Arabic and i translated all of them to English language through office translation office.
shall i send the scan copy of my original Civil documents (in Arabic) as well as the translation copy since all translation copies complained the original scan (Arabic Scan) as well ..? or i have to send only the Translation copy ..??
Question (2): with such small case number, shall i expect my interview late this year or early nest year ..??
Much appreciated your effort and support
August 21, 2021 at 20:24
1. Send all.
2. Probably next year.
August 22, 2021 at 06:31
I am DV2022 winner
My CN is 22*** AF
I submitted my DS260 on 18-06
is that late ?
is the DS submission date playing a role in getting the requesting documents mail quickly ?
Thanks Sir Brit.
August 22, 2021 at 16:19
It’s not late. The case number is more important for ordering.
August 22, 2021 at 16:36
I think that, they are not working in ordering.
I saw one his number 1** AF and has not got the mail of requesting documents yet,
and another one 56K AF received the document mail.
Both of them are from Egypt.
that why I am asking about the submission date of DS260.
what do you think regarding that?
August 22, 2021 at 16:45
I have explained this MULTIPLE times. Go and read what I have written, or explained on youtube.
August 23, 2021 at 11:32
I sent my documents without being ask for it im 2022as5000
1) I didn’t send police certificate as this document from my country Iran is not trusted did I need to explain this in my email or they already know that and I’m going to be fine?
2) how do you manage to answer all this question ?God bless you if he exist ?
3) can we be friends if and when I come to California?
August 27, 2021 at 03:48
1. You should resend the documents including one that has a brief explanation of why you are not providing it.
3. It’s a big state!
August 27, 2021 at 07:19
Thanks for your reply .
As I send the documents in two emails (part 1 and part 2) can i send another email as part 3 with explanation and attaching a pdf of the page that says police certificate is not required from my country for……reasons ???

Hi Brit – long time reader and listener here! Thanks for all the work you do.
There seems to be some confusion out there regarding police certificates if you have previously lived in the US on a non-immigrant visa given the wording on the US govt website which states:
“Note: Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to submit any U.S. police certificates.” I took this to be that as I have been in the US on a non-immigrant visa for over 12 months, I would not myself need to source a US police certificate. I note that your video also agrees with this position (as you say a US Police Certificate is not needed). However some people seem to be interpreting this comment as meaning that those who have been in the US on non-immigrant visas were not “residents” during their time in the US and therefore are not “former residents” and therefore they need to source a US police certificate and submit this as part of their documents. I wanted to check if you had any direct experience on this point and could share any further information?
Thanks in advance.
August 28, 2021 at 00:49
No police certs need for USA. Just that.
August 25, 2021 at 18:25
I need to send my documents. Shall I write only my CN with Zeros or adding also my full name in the subject?
August 28, 2021 at 05:27
Only the case number.
August 30, 2021 at 20:36
Hi Sir ,
Thanks for the great website. I have a question For submitting the documents . Actually my name is too long , my firstname is “Amir Hossein” and my lastname is “Farahani Shirazi Nejad” so for naming the KCC documents can I use a small version or I should go with fullname ? Which one of the followings you recommend ?
September 3, 2021 at 17:15
Any of those are ok.
August 31, 2021 at 17:11
Hello! Just a small question, i have to change my passport because my passport will end in may 2022 and in Lebanon with our economical huge crisis passports are taking too much time to be issued.
Should i send an email telling them the case? Or just while sending the documents i mention that??
September 3, 2021 at 18:04
Depends on timing when you get the new passport. You can always just take old and new to the interview.
September 1, 2021 at 20:24
Have a good day Sir,
I have worry about something im from iraq and i live in iraq and when i fill my ds 260 I change my interview location to US embassy in Abu Dhabi because of US embassy in baghdad So my questions is ,
1- is that ok and i will make my interview without making any transfer requests?
2- Or I have to send transfer request to the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi despite my selection for it in the DS 260 ?
September 3, 2021 at 18:23
1. They might – you have to wait and see.
2. See 1

Do i need to send them again or its ok like this ?
I recived automatic mail that they recived my mail…
September 6, 2021 at 18:30
You have to send them again. The “Case number:” before your number screws up the sorting.
September 6, 2021 at 18:39
I have already sent them .. thank you
My case is already CERENT do you think we will have a chance for an interview in January?
And can I get a direct email that I am documentary qualified if that is possible?

September 9, 2021 at 03:26

Hi Mr Simon

September 8, 2021 at 21:05
Thanks for all your work, it certainly is an amazing help.
2022SA23xx here. I submitted my DS260 in May 2021 as soon as I could, I reviewed it many many times and made sure I completed all the information as truthfully and accurately as possible. Everything looks OK to me and in accordance with your guidelines from this blog and your Youtube channel videos.
I just today finished gathering all of my documents to send to KCC.
That being said, I read on some previous comments on this post some people asking you if they should unlock their DS260 due to not adding some social media accounts like Twitter or Telegram. In my case, I added all of my Instagram, Youtube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Facebook accounts. And of course all of the email addresses that I use or have ever used to the best of my knowledge.
I now have a twitter account that didn’t exist at the moment of submission of my DS260 since I created it later only to follow you and your updates on that platform. As far as Telegram or even Whatsapp and Snapchat,(do have accounts only use Whatsapp) I honestly didn’t consider them to be relevant as social media platforms to add in my form since they are mainly only for messaging.
Anyway, my question is:
Do you think this is something that calls for unlocking my DS260 and adding this information to my entry?
I hope it is not necessary, I feel like it is quite irrelevant then again I could be wrong. I just hope not since I do not want to jeopardize/delay the processing of my case by having to unlock and re-submit my form.
September 9, 2021 at 04:11
No need to unlock.
September 9, 2021 at 14:23
Thank you! I appreciate your help. I will be sending my docs to KCC this week for sure.
September 10, 2021 at 11:00
Hi Mr. Simon
When sending the documents, should I send them as a single zipped file containing my documents or send individual pdf files in the attachment?
September 11, 2021 at 19:36
September 11, 2021 at 04:15
I have send my docs without being asked, how long later should I ask about being documentarily qualified? AS11000 2022
September 11, 2021 at 20:00
You won’t be current for months, so just be patient.
September 11, 2021 at 18:26
I just have sent today the ds-260 for my wife and I, as we finally got married last week !
My case number is EU14XX so I am already current !
You said in an update that sending documents without being asked is probably the best choice now, but in the confirmation KCC say no need to send documents, they will ask later if needed…
Is it useful that I sent anyway the docs now just after submitting the ds-260 as I am current ? would it permit to catch up the lost time of the wedding wait ?
Thank you so much for your time !
September 11, 2021 at 22:49
You should unlock your DS260, add your spouse, create a DS260 for her, resubmit and then send documents.
September 12, 2021 at 02:55
I had not sent the ds-260 before the wedding to not have to unlock it and send them together. I sent the ds-260 for my wife and myself today. So is it better to send documents right now regarding my low case number, without waiting for the kcc to ask them ?
September 12, 2021 at 03:24
You can send without waiting.
September 12, 2021 at 17:02
In order to apply for dv program you need to complete your high school diploma , in my country there is a vocational high school which is not 12 years its 11 years can Someone apply with this diploma?while it is 11 years not 12 years ???
September 12, 2021 at 22:34
Possibly – it depends on the education standards in that country.
September 14, 2021 at 12:11
Thank you , do you know about those who get their diploma from night school ? I mean someone adult who get diploma when he was 40 can he use that diploma to apply or since its from a part time school they dont accept it? I know its its crazy question but I hope you have the answer,
September 17, 2021 at 04:28
That cannot be used to meet the requirement as it was not part of a formal course of education.
September 12, 2021 at 20:24
Hi Brit, please help me with this question. It’s a legit question.
1) Should I name a police certificate from UK (United Kingdom) as CN_firstname_lastname_Police_Certificate_UK OR CN_firstname_lastname_Police_Certificate_United_Kingdom ?
I just want to be correct
2) For birth certificate: Should I put my original and its English translation in the same pdf file OR each in separate file tagged _Original and _Translation?
3) If I need to send four police certificates, should I put all four in one pdf file OR have one for each,
i.e. CN_firstname_lastname_Police_Certificate_UK CN_firstname_lastname_Police_Certificate_Germany
Thank you for all your work.
September 12, 2021 at 22:38
1. Either is fine.
2. One pdf is best
3. Use your own judgement.
September 21, 2021 at 21:54
2022SA23xx here. So I sent my docs without being asked a few days ago on September 9th following KCC´s and your instructions in this article.
Just this morning I actually got the email from KCC requesting to send my docs to them. I think it is obvious that I have to send them again but I wanted to double check with you before doing anything. Just repeat the same email that I sent a few days ago right? Any other consideration I should have this time, an explanation in a pdf?
Anyway I would appreciate your input.
September 22, 2021 at 12:12
when did you submit your DS-260 .?
September 22, 2021 at 13:30
Resend what you sent if you like.
September 22, 2021 at 18:58
September 22, 2021 at 19:00
Thanks as always Brit. I just sent them again
September 22, 2021 at 21:11
dv winner Case number 2022AS8000 here, i made mistake on my ds regarding mother’s name it’s Shafeeqa mohamed, i wrote Shafiqa Muhamed..she’s not a selectee
1-i asked for unlock, was i wrong to do it?
2- now my documents are ready, but ds hasn’t been unlocked, should i send the bloody docs:)? or wait to fix the DS then send docs?
September 25, 2021 at 18:59
You have time to wait anyway, so wait for the unlock.
September 25, 2021 at 14:55
Hello dear Sir,
I hope you are having a wonderful day!
we are some people who have won DV 2022, we are willing to transfer our case to another embassy.
We have selected Iraq in the Form of DS, but last year due to political issues the U.S embassy of Iraq was locked. I would like to ask if we can transfer our case into your embassy?
Or KCC is going to carry out the affairs on their own?
I look forward to hearing from you.
September 26, 2021 at 00:11
They would normally schedule the cases elsewhere, but covid restrictions are causing problems with that at this time. Things will be more clear in a couple of months.
September 28, 2021 at 23:24
I am a DV2022 winner with case#AS134XX and today I got DQ.
My question is approximately after how long I may get my 2NL. The embassy which I have chosen is Stockholm and Sweden is removing all Covid-19 restrictions from 30 September 2021.
One more question about changing of status and that is, if I get the visa here may i be able to change the status of it to SIV (as I am SIV eligible too) in the states or that will not be possible.

Your case number won’t be current for several months so you will wait until then.
I don’t understand your SIV question. The DV process is for a greencard.
September 30, 2021 at 22:43
I mean if i get the green card through DV lottery would i be able to change the status of green card to special immigrant visa green card or not ?
October 2, 2021 at 14:41
I dont know.

Hello dear simon
My ds unlocked today there is something that confused me
I recently bought my secondary phone number that i enterd in ds 260 after buying it I realized that it belonged to someone else before, and maybe there are email or social medias with that phone number because it was for someone else before i bought it , i also explained this to KCC with email
Now do you think it’s better to delete the number from ds 260 because i explained to kcc , or i don’t delete it and explain it to the officer before the interview ?
Thank’s for your help
September 30, 2021 at 18:53
Leave it as is and stop overthinking.

I enter dv lottery with my old passport, and submit ds 260 with the new passport. I received Document Request this week, it says the following:
“If the passport used by the principal applicant to enter the DV program differs from the one currently being submitted, you should also include a photocopy of the principal applicant’s passport listed on the DV entry with a written explanation for the change to KCC.
I just attached two passport. I typed the explanation in the mail rather than an explanation PDF file. Should I send all the documents again and transfer my explanation into PDF file and attached in the mail?
September 30, 2021 at 13:26
I forgot to mention that I had send all document already, and my explanation is written in the email body. Don’t know if I send it again with the explanation PDF file will confuse KCC officer. Should I mail all the document again? Or I can send to [email protected] to explain it again?
September 30, 2021 at 19:31
The email text will be ignored. Send it all again, with a pdf for the explanation.
October 1, 2021 at 06:19
Thank you for your reply, I will send all the document again with the explanation now. Thanks a lot!

My brother won the DV2022. However his wife and his elder son (23 years old = not qualified) do not wants to immigrate with him to USA until the elder son finish his college. Hence, he only filed DS260 for him and his younger brother.
My question is, does he needs to file DS260 for all his family members or only for him and his son who wants to travel with him? The information on the web always about how to add an applicant later to DS260. In this case it is the opposite. He only applied DS260 for him and his younger son.
I sent an email to KCC about this, they replied with me with generic email and link to the same web instructions. I assume they did not read it even.
Appreciate your opinion in this regard.
October 2, 2021 at 15:47
Only file ds260 for those that are emigrating
October 2, 2021 at 19:57
Appreciate it. Also, I am gonna send his documents early without being asked to. Hopefully they will start working on his DS-260 and his documents early enough so he can get an interview date and avoid the drama of DV-2021. Thank you for your insight and opinions and help in this regard. Have a great evening.

Doesn’t matter. Both are fine.
October 3, 2021 at 18:56
1. Do I also need to submit a scanned copy of my marriage certificate to KCC? I ask this because on https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/diversity-visa-program-entry/diversity-visa-if-you-are-selected/diversity-visa-prepare-supporting-documents.html marriage certificate is not listed.
2. If I have to submit the marriage certificate, does the name of the file need to contain only my name or the name of my wife as well? (I am the main applicant)
October 6, 2021 at 04:52
2. Just make it clear.https://britsimonsays.com/document-procedure-modification/

We’re a couple from different nationalities, got married in my wife’s country, registered the marriage in my Embassy there, which made the marriage legal in both our countries.
Due to some circumstances beyond my capabilities, I’m only able at the moment to provide the equivalent marriage certificate issued from my country based on the registration done at the embassy.
Would that suffice or will they only accept a marriage certificate issued from authorities in the country where the marriage happened?
October 6, 2021 at 05:00
You need a marriage certificate issued from authorities in the country where the marriage happened
October 4, 2021 at 16:23
Is it ok If I put the original police certificate and the translation in the same document and name it CN_firstname_lastname_Police_Certificate_Belgium?

Hi. Dear Brit.
I’m a 2022 DV Lottery winner. my case number is 2022AS9xxx. I don’t complete my DS260 form yet.
I’m Iranian and I live in Iran and KCC chose Ankara for my interview. Apparently the U.S. embassy in Ankara didn’t do any interview with Iranian DV Lottery winners for several months. do you think I should change the location of my interview in DS260 form to Yerevan or Abu Dhabi? and which one do you think is better?
October 6, 2021 at 05:20
You have time to wait anyway, so wait a couple of months and see if the policy changes.
October 6, 2021 at 01:50

October 6, 2021 at 05:47
Hi Sir Brit;
I sent my documents to KCC without asking, but I sent my police certificate as following:
CN_FIRST NAME_LAST NAME_POLICE_CERTIFICATE.
I forgot to add my country Egypt (CN_FIRST NAME_LAST NAME_POLICE_CERTIFICATE_EGYPT)
Is that acceptable or I must send my documents again?

With the new situation in Afghanistan , Afghans can not obtain passport , can they use the passport exemptions? İf yes which one ? Because there are only three exemptions .
All the best
October 8, 2021 at 03:01
I don’t think they can claim an exemption.
November 30, 2021 at 12:34
I have decided to send my documents without DR. However, my Police Clearance certificate is going to expire in January. My case number is about 25000 AS , and I submitted DS260 on June 22 . If I send my documents , will they consider my Police Clearance certificate as expired if they review my documents on the days after its expiry in January or they will ask me to send a new police certificate? As I explained my case , would you advise me to send my documents now or wait until I get renewed police clearance certificate and then send the documents.
December 2, 2021 at 04:25
Police certs are accepted up to 2 years old.

1. Just a quick one on the naming convention of documents – I have four names so should all four be listed when sending documents – ie Firstname_Secondname_Thirdname_Surname or does Firstname__Surname suffice?
2. I live in Kenya but went to school and university in the UK – do my education certificates need to be verified?
Many Thanks and Best Regards
October 8, 2021 at 03:03
1. Doesn’t matter

October 7, 2021 at 09:40
i won in dv 2022 lottery (6th participation) and they wrote me this in the entrant status check when i won:
“Your case will not be scheduled for an interview appointment until a visa number is available,
you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided copies of all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). You will
receive document submission instructions by e-mail after KCC processes and accepts the DS-260 application forms for you and any accompanying family members.”
so i assumed i was exempt from the ds-260 and i’ve been waiting for an email for the next steps since then, was i wrong? knowing that my case number is AF40k should i send the ds-260 ?
October 8, 2021 at 03:05
Forget what it said. You need to submit the DS260 and the documents.

Dear simon .
I am an Iranian youtuber . I also am dv program winner 2022.
I am trying to update Farsi speaking peopele about lottery (Iranian,Afghans ).
Most of them do not speak English , there is huge lake of information for Farsi speaking community , thats why many scammers abuse them , I could manage sharing right information in my channel but I dont dnow everything , is there any chance you give me a chance to have a discussion/ interview with you to ask some questions that are not clear for my community?
I see all your QA videos but this one is going to help many people ,
I will be grateful if you can do that or any other ways that works for you.
You are very inspiring to me. I hope you accept my offer. It will be a great honor for me.
Looking forward to hearing from you
October 9, 2021 at 15:05
I would like to help. There is much confusion in the Afghan community and of course Iranians have been badly affected for some time. I could arrange a Q&A session through my channel where you could ask the questions you want to ask, and translate the answers as we go. Happy to do that and then make the video available to you, or you could directly record it and both publish it.
If that is interesting, email me at britsimon3 at gmail and we can arrange a time to do this.

I’m DV2022 selectee with case number, AF30*** and I have submitted my ds260 two months ago which was followed by a confirmation email but I haven’t been asked to submit my documents. I am sacred that if I submit my documents without being asked, I will be denied of a visa. Please Brit, I need your advice.
November 26, 2021 at 20:04
Send your documents.
July 10, 2022 at 18:39
I’m dv2023 selectee with case number, Af30** and I also sent my ds 260 form on May, and got my confirmation email but I haven’t been asked to submit my documents. So anyone with this experience please tell me if I should submit now or wait. And also how long will it take for the interview number to be notified to me.
July 10, 2022 at 23:38
So far no one has been asked for documents so it looks likely that they will not have the document procedure.
July 20, 2022 at 03:37
That is good news it help us to get ready with the requiered documents.
October 10, 2021 at 13:15
Hi. Mr. Simon. This is a very informative post and I got lot of information how to submit the documents. Can’t even imagine the time you spare for this service – for all of us. Frankly, I was in another website as directed by you, however I find that yours is more convenient where I can post freely when I have a question and also you always take time to answer. Thanks you. Well, back to document submission.
1.Some of my certificates are in my native language. I got them translated. I see here that the translator needs to add a separate statement, but in mine he had just put on his seal and signature (He is a government registered translator). Do I have to get a statement on the paper or can I leave it as it is?
2. Can I get the original and translation in one pdf
Ex.: 2021AS24xxx_Jane_Doe_original_Birth_Certificate_and_ translation.pdf? or should I do it separately? (I am asking this because I have quite a few documents to attach and I am afraid they exceed the limit)
3. I have the affidavit, do I have to send it or is that to be submitted at consular level at the interview?
Thank you Mr. Simon, specially for tolerating these questions.
October 15, 2021 at 13:52
Hi Mr Simon. Related to the above post. I have not noticed whether you seen it. Would you mind to tell me your views especially on 1 and 3 please?
October 16, 2021 at 03:01
1. The seal will be accepted.
2. Use your own judgement.
3. Just at the interview.
November 21, 2021 at 16:42
Good Day Mr. Simon, I am in the process of getting the documents ready. I read the above blog, and that email format which we supposed to get from the KCC. All other documents are listed in their email, except the educational. However, I assume that we will have to send the educational certificates as well. Am I correct? Thank you in advance.
November 21, 2021 at 19:09
No. You present education documents at the interview. Just send what they ask for.
November 22, 2021 at 16:48
Thank you for clarifying this. I thought when they determine documents for qualifying they needed to check the educational documents as well because it is one of the requirements for DV application.
