DV interview questions
This question comes up often – what are the typical DV interview questions? People are nervous about the interview as if they are going to be asked some really difficult questions or be held for an hour being questioned like a prisoner!!!! I have known people who want to prepare and practice their answers to all possible questions – just to be safe!
Well RELAX! The interview is usually a complete anticlimax. In a typical Embassy appointment there will be two or three stages. It isn’t always like this, but this will give an idea.
First you will be called to a window and asked to present some minimum documentation (Passports, birth certs etc). You will be asked to pay for the fee ($330) and that might be at a cashiers window.
Then you will be called for the actual interview which will typically last a very few minutes – sometimes less than 2 minutes!
The CO will look at your paperwork, and may request additional documents. They then may ask general questions such as:-
“Where did you study?”
“What work do you normally do?”
“Where will you live in the USA?”
“Who will you live with in the USA?”
“What is your relationship with the people you will live with?”
For most people that is the most that will be asked – and they are not looking to trick you or catch you out. If something needs more explanation or documentation they may go into that – but again it isn’t normally in depth. If you have recently married, you can expect some questions about your marriage (where you met, what trips you have taken together and so on).
Obviously the best answers are the most real/honest answers. Don’t try and impress the CO or say what you think they want to hear. As long as you meet the requirements and have followed the instructions the visa will be approved!!!

When did you submit your DS260?
March 31, 2016 at 07:59

Hi Brit, My Birth certificate have an issue with my mother’s date of Birth. The date was cancelled and a correction was made on thesame birth certificate. Local authority say the Birth certifcate in valid. But does that affect my visa processing?
March 30, 2016 at 02:25
It should not if it was a genuine document.
March 22, 2016 at 06:03
Thank you very much
March 21, 2016 at 19:00

Probably not.
March 15, 2016 at 18:45
Hello Simon, my number is AF26XXX and I should had been scheduled by now for interview but not sure what is going on? How will I know my interview date, is it from the KCC or the local embassy in my country, and how will I be contacted?
Thanks
March 15, 2016 at 20:12
KCC will send an email (called the 2NL) in about a week or so. Just relax and wait for that.
March 15, 2016 at 15:12

If you are not scheduled yet I would recommend correcting them.
March 13, 2016 at 10:18
i have put the information regarding my mom expire in dv 2016 so when i go to interview does i need to submit the information like death certificate of mom?
March 13, 2016 at 15:34

March 10, 2016 at 10:44
Hi Brit, am current now but i av a question dear..is it possible for my affidavit of support to be prepared abt a month or so to my interview date?
March 10, 2016 at 09:05
thanks Mr. brit for ur help.
What does it mean The police record from Somalia is not obtainable for the DV visa. is this affect my application if i present Somalia Police Certificate?
thanks,
March 10, 2016 at 15:21
It means they don’t think you can obtain a police cert and it is not required. If you have one, take it to the interview.
March 9, 2016 at 21:38
Dear Brit …you are doing big service to DV lottery winners by helping to get through further..

My interview has been postpone to another two weeks by the embassy (they informed me) .can i enter this within this period?
thank you soooo much if answer me this question
March 9, 2016 at 22:40
You cannot correct your DS260 once your case is scheduled. You will have to discuss it at the interview.
March 5, 2016 at 07:59
I’m Somali, and I live in Somalia. I applied DV lottery Program if i win what documents do i present the Nairobi US embassy such as Police Clearance and Birth Certificate, i mean are they acceptable if I present Somali Police Clearance and Somalia birth certificate?
thank u Mr. Brit
March 5, 2016 at 13:58
You obviously have to present your Somali birth cert. For police certs you jhave have to present more than one if you have lived in more than one country.
March 6, 2016 at 14:51
Dear Brit, I would like to thank you for the support given during the whole time. I would like to inform you we received our Visas and thank you for your assistance . We are planning our travel but we are thinking to travel only me (principal) and my husband, first without kids . Me to come back in my country and renter USA together with kids, certainly within the time that visa is valid. Do you think that we can travel first without the kids? If yes, should I have the kid’s envelope with me or only when I have the kids with?
Thank you again!
Dane
March 6, 2016 at 15:27
Yes, as the principal, you can do that. You only carry your own envelope in that case.
March 4, 2016 at 06:59
Dear Brit,
Many thanks in advance,
We had interview in Malaysia. All documents were complete. The CO said everything was fine and then she gave us a pink form titled “supplemental questionnaire for visa application”. It was mentioned that we were refused according to 221g and we need to present some information. (The form has 14 questions that we need to answer and send them through email). I became shocked and asked the CO about the interview result and she said like this “You are temporarily refused in our system, do not worry, I cannot decide now and you have to submit the answers to the questions asap. The sooner you do, the sooner we can check”. My questions are:
1- Is it kind of AP? If yes, how long does it take for this kind of AP?
2- One question of this pink form is “List your trip itinerary and contact information of where you will stay”. What should I answer? I have no itinerary. Should I write the address of my relative or do sth else?
March 4, 2016 at 14:36
1. Yes that is AP. How long is impossible to predict, but the faster you return the questions the better.
2. Yes they want information on your plan, particularly where you will stay.
March 1, 2016 at 20:30
Hi Simon,
I had my interview today and I think it was successful. So the consular was so friendly and he told me that I have already all the required documents for approving the visa but the results of the medical examination was not delivered yet. However it two point I wanna know you opinion about them:
1) He asked me to email my CV, is this normal? I have got the american visa two times before and every time they asked me to send them my CV and I think this because of my field of studies “chemistry” but I didn’t expect they will ask it this time also.
2) He told after emailing my CV it may take two weeks of AP but I told him that I wanna travel in middle of March till May. Therefore, he said it is not a problem at all and he gave my passports and told me you can mail your passports to stamp the vise after approving them. He told me that the visa will be valid till august and I can mail my passport any time before august to stamp them, is that true?
Thank in advance!
March 1, 2016 at 21:52
1. It is not “normal” but not necessarily anything to worry about. Your case would have waited until the medical was in anyway.
2. This is not ideal. Visas are allocated to the embassy for each month to cover the appointments assigned. At the end of each month, the embassy has to account for each visa they were allocated. So – if they were given 20, they might say 15 were issued, 2 refused and 3 on AP. The 5 visa slots are returned to KCC. I believe the embassy can “re-allocate” the 2 denied visas from my example, but I am not sure about the AP cases. This is speculation on my part based on what I have observed. However, what I am sure about is that a case loses its allocated visa slots at the end of the month. So, a case sitting on AP like yours runs the risk of losing that visa slot. If they don’t print the visa, it will be on AP. Then, once your AP is finished (when you resubmit the passport), the embassy have to re-apply to KCC for a new visa allocation OR issue you one from the denials of that month. Frankfurt is not particularly busy, so they may not always have denials to re-allocate. That communication to KCC does not always happen cleanly – sometimes delays are introduced. That is annoyoying, but becomes risky toward the end of the year when preference is being given to cases newly scheduled for the month. The demand from clearing AP cases does not always get filled in that month – and sometimes cases drag on. Some cases have lost their visas that way when the end of the year arrives. I can’t be certain how badly your case will be impacted, but if you delay to another month, some additional delay is inevitable.
If it were my case I would return my CV AND passport tomorrow along with a note to ask for the fastest visa printing and collection of the passport in person. If that meant I had to re-schedule a trip I would still do it.

Hi Simon,
My interview is approaching and I’m a bite nervous.
For non-English documents, is the certified translations by an official translator enough or should I notarize them from the court?
Thanks,
Maged
February 24, 2016 at 23:14
No need to notarize them.
February 24, 2016 at 07:15

THE TRUTH,
MY WIFE WON THE DV BUT WE I GOT MARRY TO HER ON APRIL 2015.
HER CASE NUMBER IS 2016xxxxxx27300 WE ARE LIBERIAN FROM WEST AFRICA.
BY THE TIME SHE GOT MARRY TO ME, MY LATE BROTHER AND HIS LATE WIFE CHILDREN WERE LIVING WITH ME. A BOY OF AGE 17 YRS ,A GIRL OF AGE 19YRS OLD AND ANOTHER GIRL CHILD WITH THE AGE OF 14YRS OF AGE. I ADDED THE BOY AND THE GIRL OF AGE 14 YRS ON MY WIFE DV PROGRAM COMPLETING THE NUMBER TO FOUR PERSON. MY WIFE, I AND THE TWO KIDS OF MY BROTHER. I LEFT OUT THE BIGGER DAUGHTER OF AGE 19 YRS BECAUSE I FEAR THAT SHE CAN NOT SPEAK ENGLISH ONLY FRENCH. I THOUGHT IT COULD BE A PROBLEM FOR THE PROGRAM AND THAT FEAR CAUSE ME TO LEAVE HER OUT OF THE PROGRAM. MEANWHILE , I HAVE FILLED THE DS 260 FORM AND SUBMITTED IT ON FEB.17 2016
I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IF IT IS POSSIBLE FOR ME TO STILL ADD THE BIGGER DAUGHTER OF AGE 19 ON THE PROGRAM ? WILL IT NOT BE A PROBLEM BECAUSE SHE CAN NOT SPEAK ENGLISH ONLY FRENCH ? SINCE I SENT IT ON FEB. 17, 2016 I HAD LIKE TO KNOW WHEN WILL I EXPECT INTERVIEW ? MY LATE BROTHER AND HIS LATE WIFE DIED IN 2014 IN A CAR ACCIDENT ONLY TWO OF HIS CHILDREN WERE LIVING WITH ME FROM 2014 BUT LATER HIS BIGGER DAUGHTER OF AGE 19YRS ARRIVED FROM GUINEA IN 2015 AND LIVE WITH ME. SHE WAS LIVING WITH HER GRAND MOTHER IN GUINEA AND SCHOOLING WITH HER. SHE TOLD ME SHE DOESN’T WANT TO RETURN TO GUINEA TO HER GRAND MOTHER . SHE SAID HER GRANDMOTHER IS NOT TREATING HER WELL. SO RIGHT NOW I AM HER ALL. CAN I ADD HER ? PLS HELP ME OUT.
February 19, 2016 at 15:54
OK – that was already complicated and your actions have made it even more complicated. In truth – your case is more complicated than I can deal with in this forum and you need to get more in depth help OR simply just take your chances with the CO.
To be considered your derivative children, You should have had legal custody (typically legal adoption, but other legal process might have been possible) for 2 years. The adoption is usually for children under 16. So – At the moment the children started living with you, you should have established the legal grounds for your custody and parental rights over the children. Perhaps that was mentioned in a will, or perhaps there is some aspect of Liberian law that assumes that (and that is why I am not able to help with the detail).
The point is you have to show why you listed them as your children.
On those grounds it is likely the eldest child will not be treated as your derivative. However, if she could be treated as your legal derivative by some Liberian law, then you would actually have made a huge mistake in NOT listed her on your original entry. My point being, the law might be a double edged sword in this case.
So – in this case you need to establish you had legal custody of the children. I think it is going to be difficult to do that and get visas for all 5. I think it is possible that some or all of you will be denied. In order to find out, you will have to pay the fees for all 5 – and that is going to expensive/ Then the costs in relocating the family and starting a life in the USA are going to be very high.
So – you need to think carefully about your next steps.

You asked several similar questions on January 1st this year. However, at the time you said the children were your children from a previous girlfriend – so you either lied then or you are lying now. Which is it? The lies just waste my time in answering a question that is a false story. Please don’t waste my time.
Let me also make this clear, you may be used to being “economical with the truth” but lies will get you in trouble in a society where lies are not the usual way.
So – let me know the real story so I can answer that.
February 14, 2016 at 22:47
Hi Simon,
At first, thanks a lot for your support. Second I have my interview at 1st of March at Frankfurt and I have few questions:
1) I have got my PhD the last year, so I have the certificates of my PhD, Master and Bachelor. Do I still have to bring my high school certificate with me?
2) It is written on the consulate website that all my docs should be in English or German then they wrote the police records should be in English, I’m a bit confused because I have the German police record in German and I don’t know if I have to translate it to English?
3) I’m plan to make my medical examination on 29.02, do you think this will delay my visa process as I wanna travel on 15.03 and I need my passport?
Thanks again in advance!
Regards,
Maged
February 14, 2016 at 23:04
1. Yes.
2. Follow the embassy instruction.
3. I think you are leaving that late, and may have a delay. Check with the doctor about when the report will be available. Or see if you can do the medical earlier. A delay will cause problems to your travel plans.

Earlier i printed my form that shows my confirmation number and all my details. However when i opened http//www.dvlottery.state.gov/ESC/, it shows that entrants for 2016 and 2017 could check their status. On continuing with the prompts it only high lights entrants for 2016. is it that 2017 will open later. Thanks.

Hi everyone..me interview next month do I need a american sponsor and the i_134 form ??
February 13, 2016 at 04:12
You won’t always be asked for the I-134 – some embassies ask often, some ask very rarely. All of them have the right to ask for it.

February 9, 2016 at 08:25
Hi Simon,
I’m reading through the questions here and found that payslips can be needed!!
can’t we provide a letter from the company as a proof of our employment instead? should it be payslips?!
February 9, 2016 at 14:30
Payslips are from your sponsor in support of their I-134.
February 9, 2016 at 14:38
well this is the first time i hear that papers are needed from sponsor!
nothing in the diversity website mentioned that!..
is it before or after the interview? my interview is tomorrow what should i provide?
February 9, 2016 at 14:59
Well you clearly haven’t prepared well. The need for financial support is on the original instructions FAQ and constantly talked about here. You have left it too late to do much, take financial statements and hopefully they won’t ask too much…
February 9, 2016 at 16:07
Thanks for your quick reply.. can you please send me some links of DV website where it’s mentioned that financial documents are needed.. I’m worried that I’m missing more things now!
I was pretty sure I covered all requirements and till now i cant find anything related to sponsor! :s
February 9, 2016 at 16:09
There are MANY places you should have seen that – but the first one you should have seen is the instructions for entering the lottery. Look at Q37

February 4, 2016 at 19:31
Dear Brit! I have the interview on Feb 11 and my question is related Affidavit of Support. My sponsor send taxes of 2014 because those of 2015 will be issued after Feb 15th. Is this information right?
February 4, 2016 at 19:40
It’s OK, but it would be ideal if your sponsor can email you a copy of a more recent payslip.
February 4, 2016 at 19:45
Thank you Brit. My sponsor sent me in addition an employment / salary attestation ( from January 2016 )indicating since when he is working in that company/ position and his current salary. Do you think this is enough? Thank you again!
February 4, 2016 at 20:34
Payslip.

My recent Frankfurt embassy interview experience (Interview took place last week):
Tuesday – Panel physician
– requires no appointment with the doctor – yay
– provide blood/urine samples plus 4 pictures
– ensure that you have the required set of vaccinations (see http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/diversity-visa/interview/prepare-for-the-interview.html, medical section)
– have them take an X-ray of your chest. X-Ray will be copied onto a CD. You need to carry this CD with you as part of your travel documents. Do NOT bring this CD for the consulate appointment as it will trigger a security alert 🙂
– vision test
Total costs: 200 EUR (panel physician) + 20 EUR (laboratory). Details of the examination will be sent directly to the consulate
Wednesday – consulate interview
Required documents (original plus one copy):
– police record
– birth certificate
– school certificate
– army records
– financial background (e.g. account statement)
– one photo
– ustraveldocs.com registration address (barcode). They do have a computer on premises where you can register that address in case you’ve forgotten to complete the registration.
Procedure:
– pay 330 USD by credit card/cash
– talk to person who collects all of your documents. That person also gives you some insight on what documents, envelopes etc you will receive etc.
– wait a few minutes, then talk to the consul. This is a general conversation (e.g. where are you from, what’s your profession, where do you want to move etc).. Receive the original documents from the consul.
– End of interview process. Enjoy your day.
Recommendations:
– For the consulate interview, be at the embassy AT LEAST one hour before the given interview time.
– ensure to leave all electronics at home.

January 25, 2016 at 19:32

Hello,
This article is very helpful thank you very much.
However, I have a little question:
I am a BA graduate and I am currently doing my Masters, I’ll start second year very soon.
In my DS-620 form, I answered that I have attended 2 institutions, what I meant was one for my BA and the one I am currently attending right now which is the Master program. Is that okay? I mean it is the same university but two different programs. I also mentioned that I had attended the Master program from April 2015 to July 2015 which was the period when I completed the form, and I had completed just one semester. So was that okay to still mention that period, and that entry in the first place? What do you think?
thank you very much in advance.
January 23, 2016 at 18:27
I think you are overthinking it all. Relax.
January 23, 2016 at 21:01
Hahaha I don’t know how to do that.
Ok how about this, my home phone number is not working anymore and my parents have another one. Is that motive for panicking?
Thank you,
H
January 23, 2016 at 23:04
You are kidding – right?
January 24, 2016 at 01:16
I’m not, why? Does that mean it’s not a big deal or the opposite?
January 24, 2016 at 01:52
Why on earth would they care about a phone number?
January 24, 2016 at 02:39
I see your point. I guess I just need to relax a bit.
Thank you very much for your interaction.

BritSikon!
Good evening, im doing my visa interview on this upcoming monday and have a few Q’s:
1) I recently lived 2years in the US due to school and a 1-year opt, but i havent gotten a police statement from the US- could this raise problems? I have gotten one from the country ive lived in before and after my stay in the US(current country is norway)
2) regarding education ive got a high school diploma from the US, which should cover that area? Or should i have to bring my papers on similar education from norway as well(high school equivalement)? I also did my studies to become a pilot in the us, and have all documents and papers proving this. My father and my son are also american citizens, so my father has filled out the affidavit of support- do you think im covered on the education and work experience?
Hope to hear from you soon, and keep up the good work!
Regards,
T
January 8, 2016 at 14:22
1. POlice cert is not required for the USA.
2. Education is easiest to pass on. Take the papers from Norway as that is technically the requirement. I’m sure you’ll pass, but make it easy.

Dear Brit Sir,
Generally How many days US embassy (for Nepal) take to issue VISA after interview.
A friend of mine is worried, that his result is not given at the same day of interview. Is that normal?
Thanks
January 7, 2016 at 04:23
Usually people get the visa within 7 to 10 days. Sometimes it can take longer while additional checks are made.
January 6, 2016 at 19:03
Sir i asked my sponsor to send me to send me the affidatif of support but she told me that i wouldn’t be needing it i dont know if its true. Thanks

2. No need to unlock. Stay with your Uncle. If they want an affidavit of support in addition, then you can present that document from your friend.

Thank you
January 5, 2016 at 14:28
Hi Britt,
We are in the process of completing the forms, will do so in a couple of days when we recieve some information from our parents. Hopefully we will submit by the 11th. Our case number is 2016 AF00045xxx, when do you think we should expect the 2NL and the interview thereafter.
Another thing that i am confused about is the documents. Once we have submitted the DS260 should we forward to KCC the supporting documents, if yes by email or post. Or do we bring the documents to the interview.
Last one: my husband has lived in 5 different countries for school and work. Does he need police clearance from each country?? And can we submit the DS form without having the clearances in hand because they take a bit of time to get processed?
Thanks for your help, i can imagine how annoying it is to reply to the same dumb questions over and over again. God bless you for your patience.

HI BRIT.
I WISH YOU HAPPY NEW YEAR.
MOREOVER, I AM A 2016 DV. WINNER FROM WEST AFRICA LIBERIA.
MY CASE NUMBER IS IN THE XXXXXX27000 BUT I HAVE NOT SENT MY DS260 FORM YET AND I PLAN TO SENT IT BEFOR THE 15 OF JANUARY 2016. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THE FOLLOWING :
1- IF I SENT IT BY THE FIFTEEN OF THIS MONTH, WHEN WILL I EXPECT MY INTERVIEW ?
2- IS IT ADVISEABLE TO SENT THE DS260 FORM WITH THE PASSPORT NUMBER OR NOT? BECAUSE MY PASSPORT IS NOT READY YET BUT IS ALREADY IN PROCESS.
3- WE ARE FOUR ON THE PROGRAM AND HOW MUCH SHOULD BE ON OUR SPONSOR AFFIDAVIT TO US THAT WILL BE GOOD FOR US ?
4- I HAVE MY TWO CHILDREN THAT I HAD BY GIRL FRIEND BEFORE MY MARRY TO MY WIFE. WILL I BE REQUIRE TO PRESENT A DOCUMENT FROM MY CHILDREN MOTHER ? IF YES WHAT TYPE OF DOCUMENT WILL I NEED SINCE THEY GREW WITH ME ?
5- LASTLY I HAVE MY STEPT DAUGHTER THAT GREW OUT OF LIBERIA AND SHE CANNOT SPEAKS ENGLISH BUT FRENCH. AND RIGHT NOW SHE IS LIVING WITH ME HERE IN LIBERIA IS IT ADVISABLE FOR ME TO ADD HER ? AMONG US ONLY SHE CAN’T SPEAK ENGLISH. WHAT IS YOUR ADVISE ? WILL SHE BE A PROBLEM TO OUR PROGRAM ?
PLEASE SHOULD I SENT MY DS260 FORM BEFOR MY PASSPORT OR AFTER I GET MY PASSPORT ?
January 1, 2016 at 23:27
1. A few months waiting while they process the form.
2. It is better to include the passport number – but the form can be submitted using other official ID.
3. That is covered here https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
4. You would need custody documentation, or sworn permission from the mother.
5. Speaking English is not a requirement.
As a general point, you MUST have added all your children on the eDV – including your step daughter and children by the girlfriend. If you did not list any of them you will be disqualified.
January 1, 2016 at 23:56
THANKS FOR THE ADVISE BUT PLEASE CLARIFY THIS POINT TO ME.
SINCE I WILL BE SENDING THE DS260 FORM BEFORE THE 15 OF THIS MONTH, AND MY CASE NUMBER BEEN IN THE AFXXX27000. WHEN WILL I BE EXPECTING MY INTERVIEW ? Liberia West Africa.
January 2, 2016 at 00:33
I can’t be precise – a few months.
January 17, 2016 at 23:20
HI BRITSIMON
I AM 2016 DV WINNER PLEASE HELP TO CLEAR THIS DOUBT FOR ME. IS IT A PROBLEM FOR ME AND MY WIFE TO USE OUR FAMILY NAMES IN OUR PASSPORT ? I MEAN MY NAME IN MY PASSPORT IS BINTOURABBY KAMARA AND MY WIFE IS SANGAY SHERIFF. OR MY WIFE SHOULD CARRY MY LAST NAME SINCE OUR MARRY CERTIFICATE CONTAIN HER PREVIOUS FAMILY NAME BEFOR MARRY AND MINE. IT ALSO CONTAIN HER NAME BEARING MY FAMILY NAME. I AM CONFUSE PLEASE HELP ME OUT .
January 17, 2016 at 23:27
Sometimes women don’t change their name during marriage, sometimes they do. It is not required that they do – so it should just be accurate/provable.
December 30, 2015 at 13:53
Hi Brit,
I am a winner of the DV lottery and have my interview in a month (woho!).
I have collected all documents that I need and booked medical examination etc. However, I spoke to a lawyer who mentioned that it would be good to have one or both of the following:
1. job offer from a company in the US prior to the interview
2. bank statement showing my finances or real estate property owned etc.
However, I don’t see this under any requirement. What’s your opinion? Would it be beneficial to have any of these or would it just confuse the CO?
Thanks for a great site,
J

Your lawyer is partially correct – but you will find more detail here.

Hi Brit Simon, I and my family were granted the lottery visa to the United State on 10 Nov 2015 And currently we are in US, Virginia.
We are today flying out to the United States and unfortunately while at the Kabul airport it’s been brought to our attention that my younger daughter’s date of birth is different on her visa from what is on her passport and the Kabul airport has let us proceed further and now i want to know where should i go for correcting the date.
Thanks
December 24, 2015 at 17:25
You would have to correct them with the issuing authority (i.e. the country that issued the documents). Once done, you would need to inform USCIS. I am not able to advise you about that.
January 6, 2016 at 19:16
how many day’s will the process take till i get the vise
December 22, 2015 at 18:08
Hello Brit,
my case no. is AF54xxx ..when will i be expecting my interview?
December 23, 2015 at 06:03
It is a high number with some risk. But if you get an interview, it will be September.
December 19, 2015 at 11:37
what about the medical check up?when is it?and thank you?
December 19, 2015 at 21:33

December 29, 2015 at 19:02

December 29, 2015 at 19:07
Yes – you will be required to produce birth certificates.
December 16, 2015 at 09:59
Hi Britt. I have a complicated one. Hope you can help.
My boyfriend at the time and our daughter entered and won. I was not on his application at the time because we were not married. We got married in early december 2015 and had another baby in May 2015. He has since added us to his application. I hope it makes sense and will not be a problem. We have proof of our relationship so it it not a sham marriage.
The other thing is that my husband and i are from different countries. I live in South Africa and he lives in a country in West Africa. Our interview will be in his home country since he is the applicant and we are his derivatives. Our children have 2 nationalities, mine and his. Should we disclose this in the DS260 form or should we keep it quiet because we will be using their fathers nationality in their applications.
the last question is if they will query my residential status in south africa. I am not there legally. Will they investigate and catch my illegal status in south africa and deny us all a US visa because of this.
thank you, i will await your response.
December 16, 2015 at 14:26
Please understand you are moving to a country where telling the truth is expected. Always tell the truth – so don’t even think about “hiding” things – that is wrong.
Yes it is fine that he added you and the baby – as long as the older child was on his original eDV entry.
They won’t question your legal status in SA or the different nationalities.
December 7, 2015 at 05:28

Also incase am asked should I tell them he made smeone do the affidavit for us? …….
Tnks Britt. ..
December 11, 2015 at 04:19
If the CO knows that the sponsor doesn’t know you, they will take the affidavit of support less seriously.
December 14, 2015 at 05:38
Tanks brit the truth is the one who did the affidavit is my uncle …and the one we going to stay with is also my uncle ….so is it OK then….?……since the one we Goin to stay with didn’t do it but made my other uncle do it……?…. tnks Britt
December 14, 2015 at 06:56

December 6, 2015 at 08:11
thanks Brit, I’am Somalia and U.S Empassy Eithopia or Kenya Underline below statement. how about that.
Special notice to Somalia applicants.
Somalia winners educational or work experiences can’t be verified by the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa. Without such verification, it may not be possible to process such cases to completion.
Educational requirements are determined by the U.S. immigration law, and are not determined by the Embassy in Addis Ababa.
December 6, 2015 at 16:18
There is a high chance of refusal for Somalian applicants. There is almost no level of reliable documentation from Somalia, so anything you present cannot be verified. So – if you think you can demonstrate your education in some way (because of further education achievement outside of Somalia for instance) then you might want to take the risk of proceeding with your case. It is your call….
