Heya. Did you see the ‘Project Voyager” that Curtis launched?
What do you think of it?

Hello Brit,
If we lose January as you have said above, will eight months be enough to process all the cases.
And is it possible to release 2NLs in December 2020 for January 2021 interviews?
November 28, 2020 at 19:46
Obviously less time is less chance.
December 2NLs for January interviews would be “possible” but unlikely.

Hello dear Brit
I hope you are very well, I am writing to ask you some questions, I just unlocked my ds260 to update my passport because I made a new one since the previous one was about to expire, so I would like to know:
1. Will kcc ask me for the supporting documents again?
2. Or should I send them without being asked ???
3. Or I can’t send anything else
Thank you very much in advance
November 28, 2020 at 19:47
You should send a complete new set of documents including both the old and new passport scans.

Hello,BritSimon
I graduated from medical school in Russia, but returned back home to my country. I need to write a license exam before I could practice medicine so under primary occupation, will I be right to say am a Doctor or medical graduate or student
Also when I was in Russia I worked part time as a freelance English tutor and other times in some manual labors as a painter,in construction, garden but without permits because I was a student.i did these during my studies years..so I wanted to know if I can added them to previous employment
Also on the address at 16 years.
I have lived in 5 different places, am finding it difficult in filling them( from when and to when)
like in Russia I have stayed during my schooling but I have been traveling back home and living in all the other address in my country, so do I just create a date for them.
Thanks
November 28, 2020 at 20:07
You are not a doctor – medical graduate would be more accurate.
Add your part time work if you want.
Create a timeline to the best of your recollection.
November 28, 2020 at 20:19
Are you a graduate of a foreign medical school seeking to perform medical services in theUnited States but have not yet passed the National Board of Medical Examiners examinationor its equivalent? Yes No (yes)
Are you a health care worker seeking to perform such work in the United States but have not yet received certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools orfrom an equivalent approved independent credentialing organization? Yes No ( No, since am a graduate can adjust it when I pass the license exam?)
November 28, 2020 at 22:21
This questions are not very important, just answer however you feel is accurate.
November 28, 2020 at 20:34
Hi Brit,
I am a medical doctor and my wife is a nurse. In our DS260 we filled those educational backgrounds and work experiences accurately. In the later stage of the form there is a question that asks if I am a medical graduate and if I am traveling to practice medicine. There is also another question if I am a health science graduate who travel to practice that profession. Our plan is not set yet set if we want to practice that profession or another. So we were worried this question seems tricky and we asked around and people told us not to commit by saying yes. So we said no. Now I am worried if we made a mistake. Our case number is Afr 13xx and we have submitted our supporting document to KCC on Nov 19. Do you think we need to correct our response by unlocking our DS260? Thanks for the advice and all your efforts.
November 28, 2020 at 22:23
Yes would have been a good answer, but it doesn’t matter.
November 29, 2020 at 06:55
Why would kcc send 2nls for February for example, it’s the same situation as January, No ban will apply (unless extended) i mean what will make them schedule for feb and not doing the same as in jan??
November 29, 2020 at 06:58
Also brit , mr charles said they might reopen the joining for their case can you advise/comment on the lawsuit would it be helpful or better to wait as it’s considered as a class action?
November 29, 2020 at 15:11
I haven’t heard him say that, but in general we have seen that named plaintiffs got an advantage over non named plaintiffs – BUT that happened before because time was very short.
November 29, 2020 at 19:21
He said “might” on one of his facebook lives
November 29, 2020 at 07:17
Who said they will send 2nd letter for february ? They will not. If ban is not extended ( although most likely going to be extended) , they start sending 2nd ltrs after mid january most possibly for April -interview. If ban is extended, Biden still doesn’t seem to lift them immediately after jan 20 due to pendemic, most likely he will lift it in mid May. In this case .. first interview begins in July. After all… we will have only 3 months left for all processing. SO what can we do next? Fight on court immediately in january because the court had provided relief for 2020 winners in sept 4. ….. But still I m suspicious about winning the case in court.
November 29, 2020 at 07:29
Negative mindset!!If you know more about what will happen, why you wast your time coming here to check what happens. And if you are sure about these “stupid” predictions,I suggest you not to share your pesimism and negativity here, because, here we are optimist about what will happen.Thank you for your understanding.
November 29, 2020 at 11:23
Sorry for my reply to the Stephane Simon. Hope that i understand the process right.
If we don’t have invitations in november for january, we possibly will have inviitations in december for febraury. But if we don’t now, chances we will have them in december for febraury are very small. So the earliest invitations in this logic will be in january for march, if ban will not be extended. If will and Biden will lift it on the first day(january 20) we will have invitations in febraury for april and so on. Don’t say *stupid* if you don’t get how the process works. You are not optimistic, you are hiding in the shell hoping for best – diffrent things.
November 30, 2020 at 01:35
Stephane , KCC would not work according to your optimism.
November 30, 2020 at 16:30
Your mindset is very negative and I will advice u to be positive a bit because the Bible says as a man think so he is ,if u are thinking nagative things that’s exactly what only you will see. Have faith
November 29, 2020 at 15:08
I have said before that if KCC don’t start scheduling in November, we may lose February as well for the same logic. The only thing that would change that stance is an order from a judge.
November 29, 2020 at 07:36
Hi dear Brit,
Which is the latest date that we can know whether Trump will extend ban or not ?
I want to know when I can book travel tickets.
November 29, 2020 at 15:20
This really is common sense.
He is President until January 20. The ban is due to end on Dec 31st. I have recommended people should plan to travel Jan 1 to 19, but with changeable tickets. Biden will probably remove the bans pretty soon after Jan 20, but COVID might cause him to introduce other restrictions – we don’t know.
November 29, 2020 at 09:01
Hello BritSimon, could you please help me with the following:
I am a national of country A where I live now.
Recently I has been living in country B for 10 month under work visa and then I moved back to A.
Do I need to request a police certificate from country B?
November 29, 2020 at 15:23
Technically no, but it would not harm you to obtain a PC anyway just in case the CO thinks you may have been there longer than 12 months.
November 29, 2020 at 10:28
iam DV2012 AS8xxx
my wife is an LPR. for obvious reasons, i didn’t register her in the initial DV2021 submission. however, i did mentioned her a a wife in the DS260. i guess that’s all as the book.
my issue over here is that she is hasnt went to the states for more than 3 years now, i.e she falls in the apandont category & might struggle her way back to the US. at extreme, she might face the situation of removal form US eventually. this make think to make her voluntary surrender her green card & then i can add her in my DS260. sounds risky & stupid to me for two reasons:
1.under current situation, i might not be able to make it to the embassy.
2. i am not sure what the consular reaction would be.
my questions:
1.what do you think about that plan?
2.shall i keep things as it is and face “one thing at a time” ?
3.is it the time for immigration lawyer?
4.as DV2021 selectee, do i need to join a lawsuit? is there any already?
GOD bless you for your efforts
November 29, 2020 at 15:27
1. You are very confused.
2. Being unclear will create more confusion. See below.
3. Your choice.
4. I don’t think so.
She is technically still a US LPR. If the two of you are serious about LIVING in the USA (i.e. not just treating a GC like a visa as your spouse has), then you could process your DV case, and simultaneously apply for an SB1 visa for her. You could discuss that with the embassy.
November 29, 2020 at 20:38
Thanks alot
November 29, 2020 at 12:39
Hi Simon, I am a DV2021 winner case number AS14xxx. I got KCC’s email asking me to submit my documents. It just dawned on me that I have used the same photo to apply for the lottery, one of my passports (issued in 2018) and my US tourist visa (issued in 2019) . Will this affect my chance? of course I will be bringing two new photos to the CO during the interview. Thanks.
November 29, 2020 at 15:33
Denials for reusing old photos happens, but are rare.
November 29, 2020 at 13:30
Hi BritSimon, Can you please provide your recommendation regarding
the best Insurance we could use when entering (from the day 1 onwards) to USA
which would cover us from COVID-19 hospitalization or treatments.

November 29, 2020 at 16:35
When will the judge give the order to issue the 9k for dV2020, Dec or Jan 2021?
After issued the order, will u publish it?
Doesn’t KCC process 9k for dv2020 according to CASE order, is it true?
Thanks
November 29, 2020 at 17:13
It could be January or later before we know the final outcome of the case – and of course I will publish it.
We don’t know how cases will be prioritized, but case number order would be one possible factor/method.
November 29, 2020 at 19:46
Hey Brit! When do you expect the EU19XXX batch to be processed? I see that they have >6000 for December and >7500 for January. Also, I assume that they will sent out first notification email after they will process my DS-260, correct?
Thank you so much for your hard work. Will make a donation 🙂
November 29, 2020 at 20:28
I dont know when interviews will start, so I am not predicting progress.
November 29, 2020 at 20:32
Hi again Brit,
There is another aspect I feel quite concerned about.
I received a denial in 2016 when I requested a change of status from F1 Student to Visitor through the form I-539, which is an extension of non-immigrant status. Before I received the notice I already came back to my contry (Spain) since my current status at the time was going to be due. So, I returned on February while the notification of denial took place on April 14th 2016.
I didn’t receive the notification via email and if that was sent but post, impossible for me to get it as I moved out the flat and my flatmates too. I actually didn’t know this until today (I reopened a USCIS account a few weeks ago and requested a history report). Now, considering this what should I reply to the following question?
Have you ever been refused a U.S. Visa, been refused admission to the United States, or withdrawn your application for admission at the port of entry?
I answered NO
(I wasn’t aware of this refusal of status extension and also because I don’t think it applies as of denial for a visa application and wasn’t at the port of entry – I applied for an extension while at the US and left the contry before the resolution of that request).
Do you think I should unlock the DS-260 form and change my answer?
Please help me on this, I know this can lead into a grey area and don’t want to put my DV2021 application in danger for this matter.
Thanks so much,
Gala.
November 29, 2020 at 22:11
You are overthinking things. No need to change that answer.
November 29, 2020 at 22:07
Good day Simon,
21AS38XX; Received ready for scheduling, waiting for 2NL.
I’ve resided in country A for a long time and submitted a police cert for it. However, I went to country B (my wife’s country) with the intention of finding work, as well as having a honeymoon with my wife. I stayed there for 5 months before coming back to country A (did not find a job). Before the 5 months travel, I’ve taken 2 short visits (2/3 weeks each) to country B and then came back to country A, totalling to a little over 6 months spent in country B.
According to the police cert conditions at the time of submitting docs, I did not find it necessary to submit a police cert for country B as my cumulative stay was less than 12 months (as well as a major hassle to get one). But I’ve seen your comments that if in doubt, get one anyway.
1) Was it necessary to submit it the first time with all the docs?
I’ve recently applied for the police cert for country B online as it’s the only way, but their system and government are very corrupt and I might not even get the cert.
2) Is it fine if I can show the payment receipt for the cert to the CO as proof if the cert is not ready in say 2 months time (until the interview)?
3) The payment receipt is in country B’s language. Do I need to translate it just like all other official docs?
4) Are there any negative consequences for me due to the above?
Regards
November 29, 2020 at 22:13
1. I tell people to get one when it is “close” to 12 months. 6 months is not close.
2. See 1
3. See 1
4. No
November 29, 2020 at 22:35
Hi Brit,
Is it possible for KCC to send 2NLs for January in December?
It is an unusual year, do we have to expect KCC will process our cases the same way they usually do?
Thanks
November 29, 2020 at 23:38
There is no reason to expect them to change their processes. One part of that process is the time period from 2NL to interview. So whilst it is possible to send 2NLs for a few cases “late” – they would likely not change that procedure.
November 29, 2020 at 22:48
Hello Brit,
If I renew the passport after sending the supporting documents and before scheduling the interview, should I resend the new passport to KCC or just take both the old and new passports to the interview?
November 29, 2020 at 23:36
Your choice.
November 29, 2020 at 23:00
Hello Brit,
Do we have to submit a police certificate if we lived in the usa for 13 months and then returned to home country?
November 29, 2020 at 23:36
No police certs for the USA. The instructions are clear about that if you read them.
November 30, 2020 at 00:29
Brit, One more day to end of November month and we feel we are d most unluckiest people in dv history.. Even dv 2020 started on October by time.. But we are struggling to see when they will send 2Nls ??/ So sad brit.. Will there be any court case for us as well?
November 30, 2020 at 01:22
There already is one.
November 30, 2020 at 01:33
Hi Brit! I m 2021 winner from Asia. It seems that if immigration baan is removed in Feb , then First interview take place in april. Only 6 months will be avilable for interview. Is there any lawsuit for 2021 winners to fight on court? If yes, which lawsuit can I participate on? Please recommend sir.
November 30, 2020 at 04:18
There is no lawsuit that you can or should join.
November 30, 2020 at 01:39
What about charles kuck’s lawsuit filed on court for 2021 winners. When final decision will come? Please provide me with some details. Can we expect final hearing before the end of december?
November 30, 2020 at 04:17
I can’t predict when that will be complete.
November 30, 2020 at 05:42
Hi Brit, thanks for your dedicated support.
I am a 2021 winner and my wife is accompanying me. In her ds260 she filled in a big city as her place of birth while in her birth sertificate it was small county which 50 years ago has been merged with that big city. Would it be problem ? Does it makes sense to unlock the 260 and switch to the old county name in sync with sertificate? Thank you.
November 30, 2020 at 15:14
It’s not a problem.
November 30, 2020 at 15:45
Thank you, Brit.
So, she can keep city of birth in 260 different from what was mentioned in certificate. OK.
November 30, 2020 at 06:11
Simon, pls I’m trying to understand how visa lottery winners are going to contribute to a battered and covid infected American economy. There is a certain winner with 5 children and a wife who can’t even afford to take his family. President-elect Biden who promises to replace Trump’s neglect with a science-based approach to the pandemic can only do so much before he takes office on January 20, when the health crisis and economic toll are likely to be far worse. What’s the hurry to get to the US now when millions of unemployed Americans amid scenes of long Great Depression-style lines outside food banks?
November 30, 2020 at 06:37
Because some people tried 20 time to finally win the dv lottery, and no matter the pandemy and future depression, they don’t want miss this unique chance to get GC.
November 30, 2020 at 15:15
Every person needs their own plan. Immigrants always go through challenges, it’s very hard to start a new life in a new country. Some will have skills to help themselves, some will have help, and some won’t be successful. Being given a Green Card isn’t a guarantee, it’s an opportunity.
November 30, 2020 at 09:18
Hi Simon i am from Africa my case no. Is 2021AF***21392. And i haven’t received an email from KCC to submit my documents. i have some questions in my mind.
1. Is my case no. Included in January interview?
2. Kcc reached at which case numbers in this time?
3. Can you help me to know thes please?
Thank you
November 30, 2020 at 15:21
1. No
2. Read the VB or my articles announcing the bulletin numbers.
3. https://britsimonsays.com/read-visa-bulletin/
November 30, 2020 at 12:21
Hello Simon,
I’m from Iran and since Joe Biden is elected I’m confident for my interview now, only one question, Since I was forced to pass mandatory military service in my country, I may face background check which is very likely for Iranians, lets say if the background check process takes 5 months and it already passes September which is end of fiscal year, Do I lose my Visa? or it will be normally issued cause the process started before September?
Thank you very much for your time sir.
November 30, 2020 at 15:27
In normal circumstances cases not completed by September 30 are not processed any further, so you lose your chance. That is the risk for Iranians, especially those that have been in the military.
November 30, 2020 at 13:22
Hi Brit,
I asked KCC to unlock my ds260 few days ago but I haven’t heard from.them yet.
How long does it take? And do they email me when the form is unlocked?
Thanks a lot!
Have a nice day!
November 30, 2020 at 15:28
It can take a couple of days or as much as a couple of weeks. They email you when they unlock.
November 30, 2020 at 15:44
Hello Brit
Looks like november is almost done, and nobody received their 2NLs . You said before is a pretty low chance to get the 2NL in december, but what about January and also if a judge will give a law to the enbassys to start ASAP the process for DV2021 will be enough time to process most of the winners cases?
Thank you so much ! I appreciate your Work and also I’m very confident about DV2021 ( by the way my case number is EU90xx)
November 30, 2020 at 15:58
Less time creates risk. Other things can happen such as judges orders and so on, but I can’t predict the outcome for every scenario.
November 30, 2020 at 16:39
Hello Brit,
I got into the US a week ago but no immigrant officer asked for my immigration packet. I got overwhelmed and forgot to turn it in. I called USCIS but it is impossible to get in touch and they said they opened a case and will call me in the next 7 days. The thing is i leave the US in 2 weeks and i will come back in May. Will this affect my green card process? When i called them they said the green card will get shipped into the mailing address but i am freaking out. Thank you!
November 30, 2020 at 17:08
I don’t know what happened or what will be the next steps. I suggest you do all you can to sort this out with USCIS.
November 30, 2020 at 17:45
Hello Silva,
how did you enter to USA? There is not travel ban?
December 1, 2020 at 06:06
Hi Silva, I am from Sri Lanka, did you enter the usa with a reissued visa?
November 30, 2020 at 20:33
Hello Simon,
My case number has become available for interview in the visa bulletin of november but I haven’t received a notification or email with the date of appointment. I have also checked my entrant status.
Should I contact KCC or should I wait?
Thank you very much!
November 30, 2020 at 22:12
You should wait. As of now, NO interviews have been scheduled by KCC. That is because of the immigrant ban – so there will be a delay of scheduling for all cases.
December 1, 2020 at 05:03
Thank you! God bless you
November 30, 2020 at 22:40
brit can u pls provide more info about law suit which will benefit Dv 2021 winners? We gonna lose our time
November 30, 2020 at 23:16
There is not much to say. The case has been filed (TRO filed today), but we have to wait to see the outcome of that.
December 1, 2020 at 03:11
Hi Brit, Are u talking abt the lawsuit filed by Joseph, Siskind n Kuck? What sort of impact it can hav towards DV 2021? As u know the immigration ban expires automatically if trumph doesn’t extend it in 31st Dec 2020.. So u think the judge will gv a decision bfr Dec 31st? Als can the court order expedite DV 2021 interview process like what happend for DV 2020 ppl in September month? Sorry fr troubling Brit.. But u are d reliable person where we can get all info..
December 1, 2020 at 03:15
I understand you want to know what will happen. We all do. But you are asking me to predict the future in complex ways. I don’t have that superpower.
December 1, 2020 at 04:56
Shiva…. in that case .. charles kuck has told me that the final result will likely come early january. Because only if trump extand ban, judge will order.
December 1, 2020 at 05:28
Hi santosh thanks fr ur reply.. do u know what lawyers requesting from judges? Imagine, trumph will not extend d ban n it will over by dec31st. Bt still our interviews start by March month n we hv only 7 months .. lawyers will not ask fr a relief fr the lost months bcz of immigration ban? Any idea? Bydw what is ur case no? Mine is AS 13xxx
December 1, 2020 at 12:39
I don’t know what lawyers asking for. Bro .. follow charles kuck in twitter and send him pm asking detail. He will probably reply you.
December 1, 2020 at 15:29
Oh man. Please don’t all swamp the lawyers with questions!! You can safely assume that they and I are not idiots and are doing all we can.
December 1, 2020 at 15:34
You from Nepal? And you Case number is 13K?
December 1, 2020 at 06:25
Hi simon, could unlocking ds 260 2 or 3 times cause any negative mindset to the CO about the case? I mean regardless of the delay is it a bad thing to unlock several times or it doesn’t matter?
December 1, 2020 at 14:53
Doesn’t matter. An inaccurate DS260 is much worse than one that has been corrected.
December 1, 2020 at 08:40
Hi Sir
Thank you for your lovely informations
I am a winner of DV2020 with a case number AF36XXX. I got the OK of all the required documents from KCC in 19th February 2020 but never been scheduled for any interview because of corona virus pandemic.
Please can i ask you some questions??
1-) when the 9095 reserved visa’s interview scheduling begins with my low case number AF36XXX can i hope to get any interview letter from KCC??
2-) when i won the green card lottery i was in Turkey and i chose Ankara as my interview place. But actually i am in my home country ( Mali ). Please is-it difficult to change Ankara to Bamako Mali as my new interview place??
3-) What should i have to do in order to change it ??
4-) will KCC accept to change my interview place ??
I completely left Turkey now i am back home
Thank you for your lovely feedback
December 1, 2020 at 15:07
1. I don’t know how the cases will be prioritized.
2. If the 9095 get released, you would then (not before) contact KCC and ask them to schedule you in Mali. It is easier to do that BEFORE you have been scheduled, so you need to be paying attention.
3. See 2
4. Yes
December 1, 2020 at 09:03
Hello Sir! Now we are almost sure that dv2021 interviews will not start before March, and 6 months will not be enough to process all the 55k visas. And with the second wave of covid around the world, some ambassies are still closed. Do you think that KCC will still continue to process cases according to the CN or all the CN will go current in March/April in order to process as more cases as possible before the end of the FY?
Now it’s clear that dv2021 situation is even worse than dv2020.
December 1, 2020 at 09:59
Totally agree with u dear.. I wonder y still some people talk abt DV 2020 while our interviews ddnt start n we are almost loosing 5 months… this is unfair.. Even immigration lawyers still talk about DV 2020 ppl. We dnt know when our interviews will ever start n feel totally dissapointed.. we also need a law suit to expedite our process during that available time
December 1, 2020 at 11:18
People from DV2020 are still in need. It’s not about what year of diversity visa lottery is more important. All the people need help and just becasue our time (dv2020) “passed” doesn’t mean we can be forgotten. There are still legal actions taking place for both dv2020 and dv2021 for which we all are extremely thankfull. And I don’t agree that DV2021 is in a worse situation than dv2020. I feel like some people are not aware of how much harm was done to DV2020 becasue they didn’t experience it themselves. The DV2021 fiscal years just started 2 months ago. While over 6 months of DV2020 fiscal year was taken away – so where’s the logic? Let’s respect each other situations becasue we ALL struggle here, and we ALL appreciate help from BRIT and the lawyers.
December 1, 2020 at 15:40
@DV 2020 This is not true, DV 2021 winners have already lost 4 months of interview processing and are very likely to lose the month of February too. Both DV 2020 and 2021 have been negatively impacted by the pandemic and the immigration bans so let’s not act childish and support each other instead.
December 1, 2020 at 17:50
@DV2020.Here is the logic. At least 25k visas was and will be issued for dv2020. And 0 visas for dv2021. Dv2021 already lost 4 months. It’s not about forget dv2020 winners, it’s about not forget dv2021 too.
December 1, 2020 at 15:25
Shiva. The reason that people are still talking about DV2020 is because that fight is not over yet!!!
And read my response to Stephane.
December 1, 2020 at 15:14
First, we cannot assume that DV2021 is worse than DV2020. That’s nuts. There is FAR more time to fight for DV2021, and because of the fight for DV2020 we now have the legal strategies in place, the legal teams and so on. So please – let’s not get that wrong – because I will spend hours combatting that incorrect perspective.
Now to your other question. Processing is supposed to give priority by rank order. That’s in the law that governs DV, so I do not “expect” them to make regions current when that would be against the stated instructions and create a flood of confusion. Of course, no one can really guess the future.

We hope for better days to come.Thank you sir!

Hello,
I am DV2020 winner , I did not make interview on previous December because I could not go to UAE for appointment at that time and I try to get a new appointment on September but I could not . I want to know your estimation about final decision of judge Mehta .
If he wants to give a same chance for all people who could not be interview for pandemic , Is there any difference for people like me who did not attend in interview before Covid pandemic and others who cancelled their appointment by embassy in March or not ?
December 1, 2020 at 15:17
There probably should be a difference, but there probably isn’t one.

Hi Simon,
i am a DV lottery selectee for 2021 & my number is AS17XXX
I have 2 questions regarding DS260 application.
1- My current passport is expiring on Jan 2021 so i have applied for a new passport few weeks ago. My question is , when I apply for DS260, I used my current passport details, do I need to request KCC to unlock my application when I receive the new passport?
2- when i filled the DS260 application, I used only my diplomas which i have completed after my high school. I haven’t entered my high & primary school details. Actually I have studied 12 years in the school, & I studied 3 subjects my high school. Out of that 3 subjects I passed only 2 subjects.
Will this result effect my application & do I need to enter my high & primary school details into DS260 form?
Thanks
December 1, 2020 at 15:23
1. That would be best. You will need to keep proof of the old passport also.
2. I suggest you correct your DS260.
December 1, 2020 at 17:07
Hello Brit, as an add on to question. In my case, passport expires on May, 2021. What if I chose to maintain the old passport details in the DS form and present both the old and new passport in the interview?
December 1, 2020 at 20:28
That’s fine.
December 1, 2020 at 10:41
Hi Brit,
I am now doubting if I answered correctly the information corresponding to “Previous U.S. Travel Information”.
I lived in the U.S. between July 2013 and February 2016 (I came back to Spain for a couple of months and returned on March 2015 for one more year, actually it was for 11 more months). Then I visited as a tourist on August 2017 for 14 days. Since it says “Provide information on your last five U.S. visits.” I responded the below:
Date Arrived: (1) : 16 AUGUST 2017
Length of Stay: 13 DAY(S)
Date Arrived: (2) : 25 MARCH 2015
Length of Stay: 1 YEAR(S)
Date Arrived: (3) : 22 JULY 2013
Length of Stay: 2 YEAR(S)
Is this correct? I registered everything in this section and I don’t know if I should only indicate travelling/visiting which would only be the one in 2017.
Could you please advice?
Many thanks,
Gala.

Come on. Use your own judgement.
December 1, 2020 at 10:49
Hi BritSimon,
I currently live in Turkey but I am originally from Uzbekistan. Should I write my Turkish adress to present adress section of DS260?
December 1, 2020 at 15:26
Your present address. Wherever that may be.
December 1, 2020 at 11:16
Hi britsimon,
I have tried to pay immigration fees through USCIS website. But when I entered details and continue, it created error. Tried several times. What may cause this issue??
Because of Travel ban they aren’t allowing it?
December 1, 2020 at 15:26
I don’t know.
December 1, 2020 at 12:32
Hi Simone
Hope all with you! Can you please help me in below:
– When i submitted my DS260 i mentioned i have other nationality beside my original nationality but at that time i did not have the passport but i received the passport for my second nationality 1 week ago, do you recommend that i update the Ds260 or just present the passport to CO at the interview, I am expecting to be current next VB.
-Is the Ds5540 form required at the time of the interview.
Thank you in advance
December 1, 2020 at 15:28
1. At interview will be fine.
2. Not at this time.
December 1, 2020 at 13:23
hello dear
do we have a chance to be selected 2021 dv lottery b/se already i am winner of 2020 but incase of covid i did got the visa?
December 1, 2020 at 15:31
No more DV2021 case will be selected. The battle for DV2020 is still being fought.
December 1, 2020 at 18:48
LOL , this laughter is at the 2nd part of your sentence, but I didn’t understand the 1st part .
What you mean by it please? I’m dv 2021 winner.
December 1, 2020 at 20:37
That was about NEW DV2021 winners being added, perhaps from the DV2020 affected people. It doesn’t affect you.
December 1, 2020 at 14:21
Hypothetically if Trump wins through the courts or through another way what does this mean for the DV Lottery.
I know you’d say he won’t get in but I’m genuinely curious as to what that would mean as I’m or full bottle on what has already happened.
December 1, 2020 at 15:34
This is a waste of my time.
Trump has lost 30 lawsuits since the election because his team have failed to come up with ANY evidence of fraud – and the reason for that is obvious to anyone – that there was no significant organized fraud. The reality is, 80 million people know that Trump was the worst president ever, and he will be moving out in January. Simple as that.

Hi Dear Brit Simon,
I hope all is well during these difficult days.
I am interested that if stay outside of USA more than 6 months but less than a year does it create any problem?
Also if not does it apply for each trip or i can stay outside of USA less than a year in 5 years?
Best regards
December 1, 2020 at 16:47
Each trip is separate. Please read my FAQ about the difference in under 6 months absence versus over 6 month (but less than 12)
December 1, 2020 at 17:08
I cant locate this in the FAQ – is it under a specific question as so many questions and I cant see where you mention the differece UNDER and OVER 6 months but less than 12
Please point me to the location as I cant see it

Dear Simon
My DS 260 has been processed (DV 2021) and my number is current in Africa.
I have been enrolled in Louis Massignon School (high school + Primary school) since September 1996. Louis Massignon school had many ‘locations’ in Casablanca and also has primary school which I attended from 1996 to 2002.
In the date of attendance from – to, I listed 02 September 2002 until 30 June 2009 (which are simply the dates of my high school not primary school).
1-Do I need to put the attendance date from 1996 (primary school) ?
2-I also attended many more than 1 location of this same school but only listed one address. Do I also need to correct it by adding all other adresses?
3- Can it delay my interview?
Many thanks
Take care,
December 1, 2020 at 16:49
Since you are current and processed, I suggest you don’t change the DS260 unless absolutely necessary.
December 1, 2020 at 16:16
Hello Brit,
Does the “must not stay outside the US for more than a year” rule apply even after one has acquired the American citizenship or does it also apply for American citizens?
Thank you
December 1, 2020 at 16:50
Does not apply to citizens.
December 1, 2020 at 16:16
A very close friend is undocumented and/ or illegally in the United States – I assume illegal and undocumented is the same thing / meaning? – for in excess of 15 years – maybe longer – I don’t know how anyone can live life like that – isn’t that a prison form of life?
They are from Africa originally
If they have been applying for the DV lottery to become legal, have they a chance?
Or should I tell them not to bother
I assume they can’t be processed if they’ve been illegal in the US, …………..but at the same time ……..what if they won……they have the right to stay and become legal, no?
If they ever win, can they sneak out of the US and do CP somewhere?
Like Canadian border or something
December 1, 2020 at 16:22
The border stretches thousands and thousands of miles and cant be manned all along – Im sure people can “walk in” and “walk out” of the US – surely? I mean thousands upon thousands of miles cant all be all “walled” and watched 24/7, right?
December 1, 2020 at 16:51
I can’t really help on the undocumented aspects, except to say that if he gets a 10 year ban for overstaying, he will be unable to process a DV lottery win without a waiver.
December 1, 2020 at 17:11
If no ban and he exits?
December 1, 2020 at 20:29
A ban will exist.
December 1, 2020 at 17:01
Hello Brit, thank you your support. It is amazing.
My son’s passport (he is a derivative) is going to expire in May. Somewhere in February/March I will start renewing it which takes about 3 months since passport comes from another country. It may happen that at the time of interview he will still hold his old passport which will not valid “within next 6 months” as mentioned in requirements in below quote. How we should proceed ?
Passport(s) valid for six months beyond the intended date of entry into the U.S. for you and each family member applying for a visa.
December 1, 2020 at 20:27
It won’t be a problem, you can show old and new passports at the interview, and if needed you can even carry the old passport to the USA to show the “new” visa. Just relax about it. Specifics will depend on timing, but it will be fine.
December 1, 2020 at 21:43
I mean at the interview time he probably will not have a new pass. So it is ok, yes? He will get visa in old pass and will show it at border.
December 1, 2020 at 18:33
Hi Brit,
I just unlocked my ds260 to add a previous email address that I used and I also added a previous address where I lived during one year. Is it going to cause any delay for the processing of my ds260. Because I just saw that I have a new submission date now. The previous one was in July. My CN is AF29XXX.
P.S: I’m not current and I haven’t been asked my documents yet.
December 1, 2020 at 20:36
No delay for that, no.
December 1, 2020 at 20:35
Hello Brit
Because im such an over thinker i review my ds every 2 months?♀️?♀️? so i noticed below issue
1) my husband used to work on a ship so he travelled a lot ( only to stay for 2 days or so on that country) does his home address should be the address mentioned on that period he was working on the ship ( since he hadn’t had any residence to any country he entered)?
2) i was reviewing social media section, the link i put for my youtube account doesn’t work,(because the form write everything in capital letter so the link isn’t accurate anymore) should i unlock the DS form to sort this out? (Even though I don’t know how to put the right link without having everything in capital letter)
December 1, 2020 at 22:08
1. List the home address.
2. I don’t see YT as social media.
December 2, 2020 at 07:55
Me neither but it was listed along with other social media, so do you think I should i unlock my ds for such a thing?
December 2, 2020 at 15:03
I wouldn’t.
December 1, 2020 at 21:46
Hi Brit. I will start this week to fill DS260. If this takes me more than once, there is no problem with reopening the page. That is, the next one would open where I stayed?
December 1, 2020 at 22:09
You can save as you go along.
