hello Brit,
I am DV21 winner, so weeks ago I submitted my DS-260, and I have heard that you can add your mom to the Ds-260 although I submitted it, so is there any other chance that I can add to my mom. Also i would like to get married next month so is there any how that i can add to my spouse,
December 2, 2020 at 17:47
Your parents should be listed on your DS260 although of course you cannot take them with you. Read the FAQ to learn how to marry and add your spouse.
December 1, 2020 at 22:13
Dear Brit,
Things with my husband aren’t very great… We’re still legally married. But he changed his mind and doesn’t want to immigrate with me anymore. I don’t think that a divorce will be pronounced before the interview and probably we will still be legally married at that moment.
What can I do? Can I delete his ds260? Or change something on my ds260?
Do I have to explain the situation to KCC?
Thank you so much and have a good day.
December 2, 2020 at 14:41
You can’t delete the DS260, but you can email KCC and let them know you will proceed on your own.
December 2, 2020 at 02:19
Hi Brit!
Until when a DV selectee can receive 2NL for a particular DV year? Is it July or they can even receive it in the months of August or even September?
December 2, 2020 at 07:08
Last 2NL in July for september and last interviews of the FY.
December 2, 2020 at 08:30
Thanks Stephanie ! ?
December 2, 2020 at 14:52
In a normal year, July is when the final 2NLs are sent out.

Hi Simon
I applied DV2021 with my Hong Kong (where I was born and my eligible chargeability) passport and got selected. I filled same passport information in DS260. In the DS260 I also mentioned that I have a second passport (a valid BNO passport from before Hong Kong was returned to China) and provided relevant information. Please note that UK (the issuing country of the BNO passport) is not an eligible country.
Because of worsening political situation, my first passport may soon become un-usable because there is rumor that the government may forbid emigration or travel out of the country using that homeland passport.
Q1. If my interview is successful, can I request the embassy to stick that visa to my valid BNO passport?
Q2. What should I do if this is allowed? Simply take the valid BNO passport to the interview and request the CO to adhere the visa sticker to the valid BNO passport or do I need to amend the DS260 information?
Q3. Will there be any problem at the port of first entry to the US if the DV visa sticker is adhered to a passport of ineligible country (UK)?
December 2, 2020 at 14:55
1. Yes
2. As long as you already mentioned the additional passport there is no problem. Just discuss it at the interview.
3. No
December 2, 2020 at 15:22
“(a valid BNO passport from before Hong Kong was returned to China)”
How can a passport be valid for more than 23 years? Is that right
1997 Hong Kong went to China
How can they have issued a valid BNO passport lasting over 23 years?
Lol

Hello Simon,
Thank you for your information. I have learned a lot from your videos and articles. You are doing great job.
I just watched your new video about interview 2021.
I am doing AoS, as I am already in the US. My case is around EU18k.
1- I was wondering your opinion about VB. Do you think the speed of CN in VB’s is normal? Is everything just fine with VB?
2- Should we as AoSers worry about speed of VB in this year?
3- Would there be any problem for AoS if KCC does not speed up the process? I know that AoS does not have anything to do with KCC, but I mean do they affect speed of VB?
4- I know you say “wait and see” but I was actually curios about your VB predictions for 18k. (You may not like this question, though 🙂 )
December 2, 2020 at 14:58
1. You can’t infer anything from the pace thus far.
2. Not at your case number. High case numbers, yes.
3. There could be an impact, yes
4. Wait and see. It’s daft to try and predict anything with so much uncertainty.
December 2, 2020 at 08:23
Dear Simon
My Ds260 is processed- my number became current in the visa bulletin for December (Africa). My documents sent to Kcc already.
Upon going through my ds 260 form again, I realized that I forgot to add 2 email addresses that I used (1 barely remember the address, the other I use time to time)-
Question:
-given that I became current in December VB, and taking into account the very possible start of interviews from January 2021, would that mean my interview will be for March?
-could unlocking my file for re-editing delay my interview ? (Supposing my interview will be for March ?)
-Is an email sent to Kcc to let them know about it enough?
Thank you my friend
December 2, 2020 at 15:17
1. We don’t know when interviews will start yet.
2. Not if you do it now.
3. You email them and ask to unlock.
December 2, 2020 at 09:19
Dear Simon!
I’m a winner of DV2021 with a case number EU13*** (Russia). Given that the number of processed cases and issued visas will obviously be significantly lower in the current fiscal year due to the current ban (which is still likely to be prolonged) and the worsening situation with Covid-19, does it make sense to file an individual lawsuit with such a case number? And could this increase the odds by likely prioritizing the case similar to named plaintiffs of DV2020?
I would be very grateful for your response!
Thank you beforehand,
Vladimir
December 2, 2020 at 15:20
A lawyer can’t make your case current if it isn’t current. There is already a lawsuit that seeks to change the governments behavior. So you can wait for that outcome and reconsider your options later. Remember – we have until the end of September to push cases – no need to plan everything right now.
December 2, 2020 at 16:35
Thank you very much! You’re doing a great job for all of us!
December 2, 2020 at 09:38
Dear Britsimon,
Is there any action necessary to join the lawsuit as DV2021 selectee?
Is this a feasible workaround?: wait until my number becomes current, go to the US on ESTA and apply for adjustment of status?
any other workarounds?
Cheers!
December 2, 2020 at 15:22
No your work around is NOT feasible for a number of reasons, not least of which being you cannot adjust status from an ESTA entry. But there are more reasons.
So – wait and see what happens with the existing lawsuits.
December 2, 2020 at 12:37
Hello,
Our case number is DV 2021 EU00038xxx. We have unlocked our Ds260 a few weeks ago, small adjustments have been made (address, putting schools in chronological order, new job). I wanted to finish it now, because we had other issues in our life, so I couldn’t finish the correction sooner, but i realized my child’s passport has expired during tis time. Shall I wait with his Ds260 to be finalized till we get his new passport, or can I finalize it with the expired one, and provide the new one at the interview (if we reach that point even) Thank you for your valuable time, E.
December 2, 2020 at 17:30
You have months to wait anyway – so go ahead and renew the passport now and then update the DS260 and set of documents once you have that.
December 2, 2020 at 13:18
Hi Brit! Hope you’re doing great!
Given the circumstances, am I (Case number: 68** from Nepal) at risk of not getting the interviews if they start at March/April?
December 2, 2020 at 17:31
I am not predicting anything.
December 2, 2020 at 14:32
The 2NLs for the DV 2021 interviews are not sent, we were hoping for January but unfortunately since it is December 2nd and the 2NLS should be sent in November. there are number boxes very high. I invite KCC to facilitate things to disqualify all those who are registered without a passport and to favor those who had made the registration with With the passport. There are enough well-placed winners who did not register with the passport, however the exceptional cases did not concern them, especially in Africa. I invite Brit for GOD’s sake to fight for those who had made the passport registration to be called for the Visa interview. this would allow the High cases number to proceed with their Visa interviews.
Thanks in advance
December 2, 2020 at 17:34
Your “invitation” is unrealistic. Some people had genuine right to not give a passport, others did not have that right and should be disqualified. BUT that decision can only be made by the CO when the applicant has their opportunity to make clear why they did not provide the passport. KCC cannot make that decision – and they are not empowered to adjudicate cases.
December 2, 2020 at 14:52
Hi Brit,
I’m a winner of the 2021 DV Lottery. I submitted my DS-260 back in July, and it is still under processing. Isn’t this taking longer than usual? And should this be a reason for concern? Country of eligibility is Syria by the way. Thank you!
December 2, 2020 at 17:35
Yes it is taking longer than usual because of COVID and the immigrant bans. You can read my recent articles to understand that better. Until then, be patient.
December 2, 2020 at 14:56
Hi Brit,
I’m DV2021 selectee with EU26xxx case number. My question is; I’m losing my hope day by day for have a chance to visa interview. Therefore I got a H2B job offer for May.My greencard situtaion would be effect my h2b visa interview ?
Thanks a lot for your help !
December 2, 2020 at 17:36
It might.
December 2, 2020 at 17:29
Hi Simon,
This might sound like a silly question but here goes.
I was born in Belarus but moved when I was 2 years old. I’ve never had Belarusian documents, only Soviet ones.
I cannot ask for a police certificate because I have never actually been a Belarusian (I don’t even have the nationality), but would KCC expect me to submit these documents (since technically I have lived there for over 6 months but as a baby)?
Many thanks.
December 2, 2020 at 17:46
No. If you read the instructions you will see they want police certs for a country where you lived at over 16 years of age and for 12 months. Please read the instructions.
December 2, 2020 at 18:16
Dear Simon
After having sent to KCC the required documents, I noticed 2 mistakes in the english translation for the birth Certificate and the Criminal record:
-Birth Certificate: Mistake in the parent’s current home adress
-Criminal record: Mistake in the literal translation of my current job Title
Could you kindly advise me on how to proceed? (My number became current in Africa in December and my DS 260 is processed (but I asked today to unlock it for smaill corrections)
Many thanks
Andy
December 2, 2020 at 18:20
These are trivial. No need to do anything.
December 2, 2020 at 19:34
Hi Brit,
I am a cameroonian and dv2021 winner currently living in Germany. I took Germany as the place I want my interview to be done.
Do you think I should change to cameroonian since there is a schengen ban?
December 2, 2020 at 23:10
That would depend on your case number and your ability to travel for the interview. Normally it is better to interview where you live, and the Schengen area ban could be removed.
December 2, 2020 at 20:20
My Name Is Nyennia Gbeimah Zahn for example and a 2021 DV winner, i submitted my DS 260 later i received a message from KCC requesting for scan copy of my documents, which i did by scanning my Birth Certificate, Police Certificate, Passport Biographic Page. which i have presciently. For Marriage Certificate, Marriage Termination Document and Military Record was not sent because i am not married also i never fort the word or served in the military of any country. So KCC keep telling me my document are incorrect. What can i do now! ?
December 3, 2020 at 14:00
Focus on the documents you have sent. Are they legible, are they small enough to be sent as attachments, are you certain they are attached to the email (not just linked).
December 2, 2020 at 20:48
Hi Brit,
Im a 2021 winner (2021OC12XX) and currently living in the US and applying for Adjustment Of Status.
Should I hold of sending my diversity visa processing fee to the DOS until after my number is posted?
or
in the interest of time send sooner so i’m ready to send my I-485 to USCIS when my number is posted?
Thanks for your help!
December 3, 2020 at 14:03
Send it sooner to buy more time.
December 2, 2020 at 22:31
Hi Brit,
I need your advice please.
I am a dv 2021 winner AS 00012xxx
I have sent my supporting documents last month.
When I filed the DS260 I had been in the United States for 1 year ( on official mission ) so the present address in the application was my address in the United States.
Last August I Moved back to my home country (when my mission finished).
My question is : is it a critical thing if I did not unlock my application to adjust the present address (to avoid delay in processing)or you advice me to adjust the address .
Thank you so much for your help
December 3, 2020 at 14:03
Unlock and change the address to make sure you get a CP interview in the correct country.
December 3, 2020 at 14:15
I already changed the interview location to my home country before returning to my home country by sending an email to the KCC requesting change interview location .
So is it so critical if I correct it at the embassy or it is better to unlock now the DS260
Sorry for asking a lot but I am afraid to get delayed
December 3, 2020 at 01:39
Hi Simon,
Great work here, thanks a heap!
Low and current OC number. DS260 and docs sent, accepted and have received email notifying that my case is ready to be scheduled. Is it OK to complete the medical exam BEFORE 2NLs are sent out in the case that interviews are scheduled without much notice given the lawsuits occurring? Would have to travel interstate to attend consulate.
Many thanks!
December 3, 2020 at 02:27
I wouldn’t do that. The dates for interviews is not known, and the visa will expire 6 months after the medical. So you would be reducing your travelling window.
December 3, 2020 at 14:56
It’s just impossible to do medical exam without your 2NLs. The physician will ask for the 2NL before anyway.
December 3, 2020 at 14:58
That’s not always the case Stephane. It varies by country.
December 3, 2020 at 05:53
Hello Simon ,
I am 2020 winner and I have visa , I am planning to book my ticket at last week of January 2021 , will you share any video for the procedure and requirements after arrival until getting the green card ?
Second questions ,
I put my address in Florida but now I am planning to go Texas Houston , how can we change the address now ?
Thank
December 3, 2020 at 14:07
No video is needed. You enter the USA just as normal – but at border control/immigration you hand over the packet you have from the embassy. They will then process the paperwork right there. It’s not another interview.
Make sure you change the address at the airport border control as you enter. You must tell them, otherwise the GC will be sent to the Florida address.
December 3, 2020 at 05:53
Hi Brit,
Is there a possibility that KCC will send 2nl’s in January for January interviews, like they did in september for DV2020?
December 3, 2020 at 06:43
I think it is possible only if judge orders.
December 3, 2020 at 14:08
Very unlikely – and only if instructed to do so by a judge.
December 3, 2020 at 14:13
That mean i have to get back to normal life without dreaming of US with my 26*** case)))
December 3, 2020 at 08:48
Hello Brit
Thanks for you grade Blog and YouTube channel it is full of useful and interesting information. My wife is DV 2021 winner, we have pretty low case number EU1XXX so I should be pretty calm, but I have two concerns.
The first concern is common to all DV2021 winners regarding 2NL not being sent, but you addressed this in your latest video.
The second concern is regarding the embassy in my country, the embassy is closed/do not handle immigrate visas and I do not see this being changed in the foreseeable future, so this means that I will not get 2NL in any way.
What should I do? Do I need to start considering legal action, maybe join the cornet lawsuit? To whom should I turn?
December 3, 2020 at 14:12
This would have been easier to answer if you had said which embassy.
The lawyers believe more embassies will open once Biden takes office. I tend to agree. You may also be able to get KCC to schedule you at a different embassy if you can travel there. I suggest you wait to see what develops.
December 8, 2020 at 10:22
Hi Brit I from Israel, I asked to be interview in Jerusalem embassy (the only one in Israel). As for scheduling interview in different county, it is problematic as the century around Israel not so inviting. In addition most of the document I submitted are in Hebrew so I am not sure how can they be processed by embassy in another country.
Do you think there any chance of remote interview?
When should I star taking proactive steps?
What should be my next steps be?
December 8, 2020 at 14:49
Case number?
December 8, 2020 at 14:51
So you can wait for your embassy to open, or ask for a different embassy when scheduling starts. You can have the documents translated into English which would be more useful anyway.
Other than that, its just a matter of waiting.
December 3, 2020 at 08:52
hi brit.
i managed to fill in and submit my ds-260 and the confirmation reads ;
All Diversity Visa applicants must:
1. Obtain required supporting civil documents.
2. Obtain photographs that meet the Department of State’s visa requirements.
3. Review the information specific to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General where your visa interview will occur.
You do not need to submit any documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center. The KCC will review your application and will notify you if any of the information you have provided is insufficient or incomplete. Your DS-260 application will be kept on file with KCC until a visa number is available for you and your case can be scheduled.
does this mean that we do not send in supporting documents anymore (since they indicated that l do not need to submit any documentation…)
should l be worried abt recieving such a confirmation letter.
thnx in advance
December 3, 2020 at 14:13
The wording of this email is from an old standard email they should not be sending anymore. I have confirmed with KCC that this email is sent in error. You will need to provide documents.
December 3, 2020 at 14:23
Amazing !!! Shock !!! Horror !!!
This seems like a deliberate ploy to sabotage applicant’s process from an official notice
This is really unlawful
How are you happy that your adopted country and KCC is behaving like this (your YouTube video you shared your surprise and disappointment?
This is really embarrassing for the “greatest nation on earth” to behave so unethically – right?
December 3, 2020 at 15:02
Are you serious? Do you come from a country where no one makes mistakes? Are you “really embarrassed” if someone does make a mistake?
December 3, 2020 at 15:30
Surprising you didn’t get the point I am making which is unlike you
And this is no way aimed at you whatsoever so no idea why you getting wound up, if you are?
From Donald Trump and the anti-immigrant theme he has been propagating, to KCC now having this “theme” within them – i.e. as per your video yesterday at how disappointed you were with KCC towing the line and going with thinking “along the lines of Trump” and not doing anything
To now an old email response from KCC that would potentially harm a DV applicant if she had not checked with you
Do you not see the point I made?
This is not “somebody” in your reply – its everybody now
Its now endemic and systematic in the American psyche now from DV2020 to DV2021- From the Trump administration to the behaviour of KCC and the Judge’s orders and wishes not being complied with
IS THIS AMERICA ?????????????
THAT YOU LOVE SO MUCH ?????????
I come from Britain btw – your native country and please don’t bring Brexit anti-British or anything into this
December 3, 2020 at 18:21
So you were serious. OK. Odd, but OK. I’m not wound up by the way – I just think you are overreacting to a simple screwup.
So you seem to believe this is all part of some evil plan. I don’t think so at all. I think they are just inefficient, or mistake prone or whatever. I have pointed out many times how fundamentally bad things are in America with people doing their jobs badly – particularly in various levels of government. But it is somewhat similar in every country, including Britain.
But then you seem to think that I should be somehow embarrassed by the country, and honestly that sounds like a childish perspective – and the bit I thought you must be joking. But again you resort to CAPS to emphasize how awful it must be to be shamed by America! That’s daft, frankly. I accept that people screw up and they are not all as intelligent as I would like them to be. Their screwups don’t change how I feel about America, because I am an adult.
Hopefully that makes it clear because this is already way more time than was worthwhile for this point.
December 3, 2020 at 19:40
That’s a good response and I thank you for that
I do believe there is an evil plan that has spread like a cancer within the USA because of this administration and now agencies of Government are following Trump’s mantra – like KCC, like the State Department etc. etc.
This president has kicked off the nasty and vicious side of the US and that is evidenced by 70+ million Trump voters.
Even when he goes, he is leaving a legacy that will be hard to erase and the guy may be back in 2024 – or his daughter or son. And with 70 plus million voters waiting, it is worrying
I cannot believe America has come to this – honestly and I believe that this administration has really corrupted America
I am an LPR and I have serious doubts about making the move to the US – half the time I think its the best thing / the other half I think its the worst thing
I have followed your site for a very long time – indeed you have been a great guy and great help to me – But at the same time I somehow get the feeling that you think lesser of Britain (almost mockingly) and its Greatness and in many ways I think over and over about making the move to the US – but every time, I think Britain is much better country in very many ways. Then the next day I don’t.
First we are not a outright money hungry country – everything in the US is money driven – literally – you feel it. From the NHS, to British etiquette and mannerisms, from the way we do things and the way this nation thinks, I often wonder what the benefits of the USA are (really?) weather aside. From a moral compass we are a better nation too, sure we have made mistakes historically but we are quick to recognise this and make amends
I am torn between the way the US is behaving lately and see more bad than good, from everything – less vacation time, healthcare etc.
I think the only great thing about the USA is the choice of weather and the vastness of the “space” – thats it !
December 3, 2020 at 21:51
I think I have said before – I did well in the UK by UK standards, but have achieved more in the USA because of the vastness of the opportunities here. But there are pros and cons to both countries (to any country), and each person can decide for themselves what is better for them.
December 3, 2020 at 14:21
Hi Brit Simon,
We also got the same confirmation page when Ds260 is submitted for 2021 AS 9***.
Do you think that they will ask for documents only if the information we submitted is insufficient or incomplete.
What do you say about this message? Are we all going to get the email from kcc for supporting documents or if they think our data is found incomplete?
Note : we have not received email from kcc for supporting documents till now. We were in H1B for last 6 years and my birth place information is known in passport.
December 3, 2020 at 15:03
Again. You will be asked for documents.
December 3, 2020 at 15:54
There you go Brit !
Endemic now…. and propagated way of behaviour now
its no longer somebody – but at least 2 somebodies with same mistake happening to them, among everything else that is generally happening to DV applicants overall – get it?
Hope you see what I am saying overall- and please, nothing personal whatsoever
Just an observation “from the outside”
December 3, 2020 at 20:13
This kind of thinking will not help! Times are difficult for everybody, including people that work at KCC, they are dealing with COVID too and all the problems and confusion. On top you have a misleading administration.
Regardless, people should take into account the letter that says you have been selected. In that letter is clearly stated that they, KCC, will send an e-mail asking for documents after they processed the DS-260.
So lets be positive! It’s a dream worth chasing with everything we but believing in evil plans will not help!!
Thank you Simon
December 4, 2020 at 08:31
I have the same confirmation…EU15xxx,and still wait mail for support document…Should I send documents or what ?
December 4, 2020 at 16:54
Wait to be asked.
December 3, 2020 at 11:11
Hi Brit
I’m dv 2020 winner.
The kcc as sent me a message that all my required document are set.
That I will be scheduled for and interview.
My question is, there is a hope for me?
and my high school results I only pass in English (wasse) is there a hope for me to qualify?
December 3, 2020 at 14:56
It sounds like you won’t meet the education requirement, so if that is correct you shouldn’t waste your money on an interview.
December 3, 2020 at 14:30
Hello, i received the same email in July when I submitted the ds260, I think we have to wait for the email requesting the documents or we have to proceed submitting the documents?
December 3, 2020 at 14:58
It is better to wait to be asked.
December 3, 2020 at 16:00
Dear Simon
Is an ESTA considered a US visa? (Electronic System for Traval Authorization)
And therefore shall I provide the ESTA number to this question:
And answer yes to the question
Thank you
Andy
December 3, 2020 at 18:22
ESTA is not a visa. It’s part of the “Visa Waiver Program”.
December 3, 2020 at 17:02
Hi, today i recived the email from kcc asking to sent the supporting document (3 month after submited ds260). My question is theere deadline to sent the supporting documwnt? Thanks
December 3, 2020 at 17:58
Hi bro
Your case number is around what please ?
I’m not asked to submit documents so far
December 3, 2020 at 22:46
Around 15 k, dont worry its just about time
December 3, 2020 at 22:51
And your are from which country?
December 3, 2020 at 18:39
No
December 3, 2020 at 17:26
Hi Simon
Today Federal appeals court rules against the Trump administration’s public charge rule, will that have any impact on DV selectees?!
Thank you in advance.
December 3, 2020 at 18:48
It confirms that the DS5540 should not be needed, but other aspects of public charge still remain and will continue to be important. For example, the I-134.
December 3, 2020 at 18:44
Dear Simon,
My host in the US is moving houses in 2 weeks. He gave me an address of his friend in the US who is stable in that house. That address I chose to receive my green card.
Question:
-Is it okay to keep my host friend’s address? I will probably not live there though…
-Name of person currently living at address: I do not know my host’s friend. Is it okay to select ‘does not apply’ ? Or shall I put my host friend’s name even though I do not know him/her?
-Phone number: I put the phone number of my friend not the host. Is the phone number linked to the one living in the stated address?
In 2 weeks or so he will have the address where I will actually be moving.
Do I need to ask KCC to unlock my case again to correct the address? Is it sufficient to put my host ‘s current address even though he will leave in 2 weeks? And then explain it at the interview?
My case is current and I just unlocked my DS 260 to perform small changes.
Thank you Simon for your help all the way through
Andy
December 3, 2020 at 18:53
Oh my. Overthinking. Just change the address later (at the interview).
December 3, 2020 at 21:10
Dear Brit,
Many thanks for all of the useful information you have consistently put out.
Kindly please help to clarify the position, If a document require English translation. Must one obtain certified translations and present them on the day of your interview. Who does the certification of the translated version? Or can the translation can be done personally and sworn to before a Commissioner of Oath.
Thank you

In most cases it does not need to be certified. It needs to be translated by someone outside your family who will sign to say they are competent to perform the translation.

Dear Simon
Do we have to list primary school education or not needed?
Thanks my friend

December 3, 2020 at 22:34
hello brit, i’m winner dv 2021 my cn is 23xxx i sent the ds260 in july i still haven’t received the email from kcc to send documents, others cn higher than mine is a little lower they have already received it it is normal that proceed a little haphazardly? should i worry? if I had to send an email to the kcc asking for explanations could it be of any use? thanks for your help
December 3, 2020 at 22:51
You don’t mention your region, but in any case it is not near to be scheduled yet. You need to be patient.
December 4, 2020 at 14:06
I am writing to you from Italy and in this pandemic situation, my concern is that of not being able to get to the interview thanks for your advice
December 4, 2020 at 14:38
( i’m italian too, I’ve also submitted my ds-260 in July and I have a CN lower than yours, but I haven’t recieved answer yet. We must wait and be patient at least until May June)
December 4, 2020 at 17:00
OK, you just need to be patient. Your number won’t be current for some months, so there is no need to panic.
December 4, 2020 at 00:48
Brit, just curious to know…. Do KCC send further document request email to all ppl who submitted DS 260? I mean even their case no’s are so high? For ex:,As this time Asia highest no is AS 35xxx, will KCC send document request email fr them as well?
December 4, 2020 at 02:46
Possibly. Yes. But there is no need for them to rush.
December 4, 2020 at 01:17
Hello Brit, I received this email:
“Date: 12/3/2020
Case Number: 2021EU00000XXX
Dear X X:
Congratulations! Our records indicate that your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current and appointments are available. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on region and which case numbers have already been processed. All DV 2021 interviews must be concluded by September 30, 2021…(continues).”
My concern is that in this email it does not mention that my DS 260 or documents are processed and therefore are valid, so I can relax and wait for the interview date. Should I contact them and ask about it or just wait for the interview detail informations?
Thank you, best regards.
December 4, 2020 at 02:47
Stop overthinking. No need to do anything.
December 4, 2020 at 01:47
Hey Brit !!
I have submitted all the required documents to KCC. ( I am a dv selectee from work experience ). But I forgot to send the previous documents of the same field. I had worked their 9/10 years ago. Can I Show it straight at the interview time? If yes, should I ?
Have a nice day!!!!!
December 4, 2020 at 02:49
What documents are missing?
December 4, 2020 at 02:10
Your feedback is well noted, Brit. Most grateful.

Hi everyone
No question to ask this time. Just to share some experience about getting the “documents request email” from KCC.
For your information Brit, that “not to send any document to KCC” confirmation page is nothing new. In my case, I submitted DS260 in early September and that same confirmation page (version 1.4) popped up at the end of my submission process. I did not pay much attention to the wording at that time. I guess I was just happy and content to have completed that DS260 submission step.
After 6 calendar days, I received the “documents request email” from KCC.
Now, I am not saying that this 6 calendar days lead time is a normal standard. It is just my specific case. It is just an indication that even with the DS260 confirmation page instructing you not to send any documents (at that time), a “documents request email” from KCC will be sent to you, sooner or later.
I know this whole DV process can be frustrating and the current coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown in some regions of the world is nerve wracking. But you just have to keep an open mind and be positive. Remember as Brit has said that the DV is not a gift. The whole process can be a bumpy ride. I myself have my own worries and I still face uncertainty about timing of interview appointment and passport issues, etc. But I am not going to let anyone unsettle me simply because of one or two specific instances that may or may not be applicable to me.
Like Brit or anyone from the UK must have certainly heard this phrase before, Keep Calm and Carry On.
December 4, 2020 at 04:04
Dear sir,I missed to mention about previous company where I worked
December 4, 2020 at 07:56
Hi Simon
In ds 260 : list all the countries regions you travelled to within the last 5y:
Does a flight stop in the airport of a city count as a travelled country? For exemple I flew from France to Morocco and had a brief flight stop in Madrid. Would Spain need to be listed?
Thank you for your clarity
Andy

No
December 4, 2020 at 08:30
Hi Siman! If my embassy is closed in Nepal due to pendemic, can I give interview by travelling to other countries for my dv 2021?
December 4, 2020 at 09:12
Hi Santhosh, what is ur case no ? Iam AS13xxx. from Srilanka
December 4, 2020 at 16:53
Possibly, yes.
December 4, 2020 at 10:59
Hello Brit, hope you are doing well.
In the KCC email with subject “Further DV Documents Required” they didn’t mention anything related to my education. Does it means they will let CO to check my University degree in case the interview will be scheduled. It is EU21xxx, btw.
regards,
December 4, 2020 at 16:56
Yes – you show education proof at the interview, not to KCC.
You should also plan to show High School documentation, not just the degree.
December 4, 2020 at 18:30
ohh… High School diploma in our country is taken from those who go to University . It is going to be headache (( Good to know this before ahead. Thanks.
December 4, 2020 at 18:38
In any case education proof is only for principal applicant, right?
December 5, 2020 at 02:48
Correct
December 4, 2020 at 12:47
Hi Brit Simon,
Can I know the status of our case no by Jan in Check My Visa Application Status website even if we haven’t heard anything from kcc after submitting DS260.
December 4, 2020 at 16:57
No.
December 4, 2020 at 13:03
Hi brit, sorry for bothering you, i had 2 questions:
1. I had an Instagram account that I had entered my sister’s email to create. I deleted that Instagram account for a while now. I mentioned the Instagram user in DS form. Do I need to mention my sister’s email too?
2. I created a new email 3 years ago and created an Instagram account with it. Then I deleted that Instagram account. I think I deleted the email too but I’m not sure. My problem now is that I do not remember the email or the user of the Instagram account. What can I do about it? Do I need to tell this to the officer before the interview or i only tell him if he asks anything about it?
Thanks.
December 4, 2020 at 16:58
1. No
2. Do the best you can to list accounts on the DS260. That is all. You will not be questioned about it at the interview.
December 4, 2020 at 13:26
Hi BritSimon,
Hope you are doing great.
I want to have your advice about the pros and cons if I try to reach the USA on the 1st of Jan 2021
(just after ending the current president’s EO).
If he extends the EO, will that affect my DV Visa or passport (blacklisting or canceling the visa)?
OR in the worst case, they will turn me back to my home country?
December 4, 2020 at 16:59
No they won’t cancel the visa. They might send you back.
December 4, 2020 at 14:33
Hi Brit!! I hope you are well.
I have something important to ask you.
KCC unlocked my DS-260 form last night and I have literally just received the 2NL to submit supporting documentation. I thought it would take longer for them to require additional documents but they have been really quick. As I have the form “open” I have to lock it again and resubmit so my questions is if this might cause delays when doing the corrections?
Do possible delays take place at this stage or just prior to the interview?
Look forward to your clarification.
Many thanks ahead,
Gala.
December 4, 2020 at 15:50
Hi Brit, if I deduce what Gala message does that means they have started issuing 2NLS?
December 4, 2020 at 16:16
No, she mistakenly used the word ‘2NL’. What she meant was that she has received an email asking for her to submit scanned copies of her documents.
December 4, 2020 at 17:09
@Thms No – it means Gala incorrectly referred to the email for documents as the 2NL.
December 4, 2020 at 17:02
@Gala it’s not the 2NL.The 2NL is the interview appointment letter.
December 4, 2020 at 17:06
You got the documents request email, that is NOT the 2NL.
No delays.
Please stop overthinking everything, and read the FAQ. If you have checked the FAQ and you still need to ask a question, make them concise.
December 4, 2020 at 17:58
Thanks BritSimon, Carla and Stephane for clarifying that point, I appreciate it. Many thanks to you all for explaining 🙂
Ps: Yes, Brit I will stop overthinking for my inner peace. This process is stressing me out since the opportunity it supposes is very important to me.
Thanks once again!
December 4, 2020 at 18:28
A Green Card is always important to everyone. But you need to calm down.
December 4, 2020 at 18:39
Opportunity?
With a ravaged economy and 3000 deaths a day because of covid
And political farce
Im struggling to see opportunity just now?
December 5, 2020 at 02:48
“just now”
December 4, 2020 at 21:09
hello Brit.
If i have won the DV lottery with lets say a misspelled surname ( StankovikJ ) but it is entered without the ”J”. On my passport is ”StankoviKJ” is that going to be a problem with the DS 260, can i fix it there ?
December 5, 2020 at 02:50
Enter the name correctly on the DS260
December 5, 2020 at 08:52
Thank you.
Should we maybe contact the KCC and tell them about the mistake or not?
December 5, 2020 at 14:54
HI B, Follow this instruction to request dv260 unlock from KCC:
”
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your answers on the DS-260 application should be as accurate as possible in order to minimize the potential for confusion and delay in your case. Once submitted, a DS-260 cannot be deleted or removed. If there is an error in your DS-260 application form or if you need to make changes, the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) can unlock the form for you so that you can make any changes required. If you would like us to unlock one or more forms in your case, please reply to this address, including your case number, date of birth (MMDDYYYY) and the names of the applicants whose forms you would like us to unlock, and an explanation as to why you need the DS-260 unlocked.
Once unlocked, if you would like for KCC to process your application, you must resubmit it. A DS-260 will not continue processing unless it is re-submitted. Unlocking an application is the only way to make changes, or to prevent a form from being processed.
“
December 5, 2020 at 15:05
That’s what the DS260 would do.
December 4, 2020 at 21:55
Hello, I went to USA in June 2017 as J1 visa under work and travel program. I applied for change of status from j1 to B2 before my visa expired. I got RFE letter on february 2018 and replied it on March 2018. I also worked in a Restaurant on March 2018 and May 2018. So i violated my status. Then applied for out of processing time for my I-539 application but i did not get an answer from USCIS. I decided to leave from U.S. and i speak with USCIS and they said that you’ll not have any bar if you leave from U.S. Then i left from U.S. on august 2018. When i back to my country i get denied for my i-539 application on October 2018.
My wife is a permanent resident and i had interview on March 3 2020 but the consulate person refused my visa and said that you have 3 years bar. I do not think i have bar because nobody detected me when i violated my status also Uscis told me that you’ll not have three years bar. Could you help me about that? What can i do about that?
Sincerely yours
December 5, 2020 at 02:50
I only answer DV lottery questions. I suggest you need a lawyer.
December 5, 2020 at 01:21
Hi Brit,
I was looking for the CEAC data, I have 2 questions :
1) What “no response” does mean? Are they people that haven’t filled the ds260?
2) Do you have any guess regarding the hole % for Africa this year?
Thanks Brit!
December 5, 2020 at 03:08
1. Yes – although that might mean they just delay sending the DS260. That can start the process later if they want, but many never do.
2. I have estimated that we have around 33500 actual cases, spread over the full number range (up to around 88XXX). So – that means there are about 55000 holes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_0Y9EKtvnk
