Communicating with KCC
Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) is the centralized department that controls the running of the DV lottery process. If you need to contact them for any reason you can do so – but please remember that time spent answering your questions is time they are not spending on processing cases (yours and others) so don’t hassle them for nothing!
KCC Contact details
Email:
Their email address is [email protected].
If you email them you need to include your full name, Full case number (like 2015AF00031999) and your date of birth in Month/Day/Year format.
Phone:
Their phone number is (+USA country code) (606) 526-7500 .
You will get a recorded message but you can bypass the message by pressing zero on your phone. This saves you from having to listen to the recorded message (unless you really want to!). Again, they will always ask your three key identifying details, name, case number and date of birth. They are mostly patient and kind – but just be aware they are human and they have good days and bad days like the rest of us…
They work between 7:30 a.m. EST to 4:00 p.m. EST The time there now can be seen here

Example emails you can send to KCC
Your emails to KCC do not need to be very wordy or over polite. Just get to the point – they are busy. Always include the case identifying information – full name, Full case number (like 20204AF00031999) and your date of birth in Month/Day/Year format.
Then just write simply what you need.
For example:
“Please unlock my DS260 so that I can make some corrections”
“Please let me know whether my DS260 has been processed”.
What do their responses mean?
KCC staff tend to use some Template/Generic emails over and over rather than typing specific responses. DV experts are asked OVER and OVER again – what do these responses mean. So – here is what they mean!
Typically people are emailing to see if their DS260 has been processed yet – and for that question you will typically get one of three answers depending on how far your forms are processed.
Stage 1. Processing
“Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing.”
This means your forms are still being processed. Most people are waiting around 4 months for this processing – hence what we are calling the DS260 backlog. Hopefully that will increase speed – but right now – this post explains the timelines.
Stage 2. Documents required
“The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has completed processing of your DS-260 Diversity Visa application form and the DS-260s of all accompanying family members.
In order to continue processing your case, you must submit electronic copies of the documents ….”
There is a more complete version of that email in this article.
So this means your DS260 is processed, and they now want you to send the documents. This is a modified process implemented from the beginning of 2019. They will not schedule the interview unless you send the documents.
Stage 3. Your documents are processed and you are ready to be scheduled.
“Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation elc.”
You want to see this email. They may only send that if you ask about the status of your case, so for some people they will simply get the 2NL without this stage 3 email.
Stage 4. Right in the middle of being scheduled
There is one more message that is quite rare. It reads:-
Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.
You will only get this message during the period of time when the VB has been set (announced, or about to be announced) and before you see the 2NL itself. If you see that response, just wait patiently!!
Stage 5 – the 2NL itself
You can read about that 2NL here:
https://britsimonsays.com/faq/what-does-the-2nl-look-like/
Hope that helps you – and hopefully less of you will ask what these generic messages mean. I will add any others here I can think of.

Hi Britsimon, Thanks again for the great post.
My DS260 case was submitted in Nov 2014, unlock/lock again in Jan 2015 and resubmitted.
I Just talk to KCC. According to KCC they will have to reprocess the case since it had been resubmitted. It sounds like by unlock & resubmitting i am delaying my case for 3 months ( Nov 2014 to Jan 2015). What do you think about this ? do others have experience in the processing time delay cause by unlock/resubmit ?
Thanks
February 13, 2015 at 21:06
There are various types of changes that people do when they unlock. Some are significant and need “reprocessing” some don’t. Most people that have had significant changes (like adding a spouse) have experience about a month of delay or so. So – it isn’t the same as submitting for the first time in January. I’m hoping they will be speeding up soon anyway – so don’t worry about it.
February 13, 2015 at 21:21
Thanks a lot for the immediate response. mine was changing my mom’s birthday..hope not a significant change. Actually there is another tricky answer i had to changed.. when submitting my child application, it asked if anybody fill in the forms for you.. my answer was “no”, then i realized ( after 3 months) that i am actually filling the forms for my child instead of my children submitting the DS260 forms, and the answer should be “yes”. so.. stupid mistake like this cause the delay.. 🙁
February 13, 2015 at 21:47
Those changes will not cause reprocessing or delay. Relax.
February 13, 2015 at 23:13
Thanks 🙂
February 16, 2015 at 19:07
I discovered by teviewing my ds today my mom coty of birtg wrong
Also primary phone i dont have it any more
Also the question about what u intend to do in usa i put bussiness and that im afraid of i might work in dofferent field
February 16, 2015 at 19:38
I would not unlock for those things.
February 14, 2015 at 03:40
Thanks for putting this together Simon.
My friend in the US once told me that the KCC call centre is not handled by KCC staff. Rather, it’s outsourced to a third party company named FCi Federal which handles their call centre phone calls as well as email inquiries. Actual KCC staff is therefore involved in the more important stuff such as form processing, interview scheduling, etc. In fact, every email response I got from KCC has “FCi Federal” below the signatory’s name. Not sure how true this is but if true, I think calling them will not necessarily slow down the speed at which they process forms. I do, however, agree that in all cases people should not call unless it is necessary. I thought I’d share this but I could be completely wrong about it.
February 14, 2015 at 04:24
The use contractors yes – in fact we have a very clear picture of what they all do (contract and non contract staff). However, their resources are finite – so I try to discourage people from calling that literally would call every few days. Apart from anything else, the 100 dopey questions will just put the ladies in a bad mood when they are asked more important questions.
February 14, 2015 at 09:09
hi simon,
how to unlock my DS260 forms, i made a mistake regarding fill in my wife’s DS 260 (she is the principal)…..” did anybody fill in the forms for you” ? i answered NO….the right answer should be YES, i did….or can do it at the time of interview ? many thanks simon…
February 14, 2015 at 11:41
Hi DFC,
to unlock the form email [email protected] tell them what you would like to change and give them your case number, date of birth. They will unlock the forms for you and you are able to edit it and re-submit it.
My advise … for your situation.. probably not worth to change.. for my case my kids are only a few years old.. they can’t possible fill in the form by themselves.. as for your wife, she should be able to fill the form herself ( maybe with little of your help… ) not worth the risk of being delay…
February 14, 2015 at 15:32
That is trivial – don’t unlock for that!
March 20, 2018 at 10:15
Dear Brit Simon,
I did the same mistake – I am the principal applicant, and I filled all the application forms of my family. In my daughter’s case, I automatically mentioned that she filled in the form. So you think that for this there is no need to ask and unlock?
Thanks in advance.
March 20, 2018 at 14:15
Same mistake = same answer.
February 15, 2015 at 06:38
Hi BritSimon, thank you for this post.
I’ve got the following response from KCC:
Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov.
Is this stage 3? What do you think?
February 15, 2015 at 17:01
Yup – that is the elusive stage 3!
February 15, 2015 at 14:57
is kcc’s phone number, toll free ? i don’t wanna break my wallet by calling them, lol.
February 15, 2015 at 17:12
No it is not.
February 15, 2015 at 18:07
BritSimon, my CN is not yet current, but submitted DS-260 in May 2014. Does it make sense to send an inquiry to KCC for obtaining information on the processing stage to avoid any possible issues at the time my CN becomes current?
February 15, 2015 at 20:38
No there is no need to do that.
February 16, 2015 at 05:17
Thank you!
February 18, 2015 at 01:47
Hello
I made a mistake filling my ds 260. In the field of document Id i wrote my personal id number as appears in my passport. Does it need to be corrected? I suppose based in my CN the interview will be scheduled in may.
Months ago I wrote to KCC asking to unlock my ds 260. I received this response and any more. It has been locked.
Thank you for your inquiry.
In response to your request for KCC to unlock your Form DS-260 for updating, please be advised that we will be answering these requests according to the order in which they are submitted. It could take up to a few weeks before you hear from us that your DS-260 has been unlocked. We will send you an email once we have unlocked the form and you can update your information.
Please be assured that any delay in unlocking your form will not impact your appointment date, as appointment dates are set based upon your case number becoming current. (Further details about what this means are available in the Visa Bulletin on http://www.travel.state.gov .) The first appointments will not begin until October 2015, so there will be ample time for you to correct your information in time for a consular interview.
We will update you as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.
February 18, 2015 at 02:28
That was clearly a very old response. I don’t understand what your mistake is exactly, but I would suggest you email them as soon as possible to unlock and get it corrected.
February 18, 2015 at 12:47
thanks so much:
In Cuba we have a personal ID number and it appears in the passport as (I.D. No.), also appears (Passport No.).
In the ds-260 I filled the question (Document ID) with my (I.D. No.) instead of my (Passport No.).
I am not the Principal Applicant but my wife. I’m not sure if it deserves the risk of a delay in the interview for unlocking the form. What do you think?
February 18, 2015 at 14:14
Ok got it. It is important to make sure they have completed the background check. I would unlock and correct that.
February 27, 2015 at 16:20
Just for feedback
-monday 23th (it was unlocked and resent the form with Passport No. corrected)
-wednesday 25th (sent an inquiry to kcc)
-friday 27th (received response of Pending Embassy Review ).
Thanks!!!
February 20, 2015 at 16:50
i am egyptian and i was work at saudi arabia until 2004 how to get police report if it is required as i search it is unavilable since i am no more resident at saudi arabia it is correct ?
February 20, 2015 at 17:29
The reciprocity page says “Police clearances are unavailable for third country nationals who no longer reside in the Kingdom.” – so on that basis you are not expected to provide it.
February 26, 2015 at 20:57
How long kcc takes to respond a case status inquire?
February 26, 2015 at 22:38
Usually a couple of business days.
March 10, 2015 at 18:10
Hello BritSimon,
Having just moved to a new address, do you think it’s a bad idea to request unlocking my DS-260 (submitted last August) to update it? Or it does not have any implication on the processing time?
Thanks!
March 10, 2015 at 18:54
It is not necessary to change that now, so whilst it probably would not cause reprocessing, it is not strictly needed. So – if your case number is not going to be current for a while yet, you could unlock and update, but don’t worry if you can’t.
March 23, 2015 at 23:39
JeanM
Did you unlock it or not?!
March 23, 2015 at 23:34
I have a question concerning unlock ds260 now
According to above if i unlock it by now is it take four month to proceed
And as they are going to review it all again if my cn get current after two month does this affect or cause delay of revieving 2nd letter
Just to understand more
March 24, 2015 at 00:18
Nina – I see you are doubting again. The only delay is when there are “material” changes on the DS260. The address is not important, which is why Matina told you it was “optional” to change and you see similar comments from me above. The reason I told you to unlock was that it won’t affect your processing AND it would cause you to relax and stop overthinking the whole thing. You seemed convinced – but now you have started to doubt again….
March 24, 2015 at 05:09
Thank you again but it is really important to be careful
So i try to read and understand cause this is all mew for me and o want to be careful
I hate to unlock it but as kcc told me that i should keep my ds updated
And the consular will work and see the ds i submit
March 24, 2015 at 05:38
I m worry for taking time to reprocess
May 4, 2015 at 08:39
Hello BritSimon, I never knew that you can unlock your DV application form. I submitted in January, while filling mine section I made a mistake in the month of birth of one of my daugther’s instead of july, I entered june. However, I received a message from KCC that my forms have been received and pending further embassy review for the continuation of your visa processing. Should i send kcc an email to unlock the application so as to correct the mistake or should i leave it as it is. Please advice.
May 4, 2015 at 16:07
It depends on your case number. If you are about to be scheduled (AF case under 40000 for example) then I would say don’t unlock now. If however your case is not going to be current for a few more weeks then there is time to unlock and change that. Accuracy is important, but in this case the change will not cause reprocessing delays.
May 26, 2015 at 17:34
hi mr simon . l sent an unlock mail to kcc this the reply l got from them below, does it means they have conform my mail or how .
The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has received your email. This email address, [email protected] is for case-specific Diversity Visa inquires only. If you would like to check the status of your entry, please do so at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ESC. This website is the definitive means of determining whether or not you were selected for possible further processing. You must see a notice that is addressed to you by name as proof of selection to process further in the DV program.
May 26, 2015 at 21:07
This email is automatically generated – it simply means they got your email.
May 27, 2015 at 15:29
thanks very much mr simon ,so when can l be expecting the unlock letter (mail) , so l can correct my mistake and resent ,
May 27, 2015 at 16:09
Once you email them they usually respond within a few days

June 29, 2015 at 06:32
Hi BritSimon
This is not DV Lotterry related but I thought that, based on your expertise, you could may be help me get an idea about processing time.
My H1B visa ( I129 petition) was re-affirmed after a NOIR about a month ago. US embassy says they can not see the change in the system and they say that they will contact the KCC to inquire (emphasis on the “say”).
Is there a way to verify that?
How long does it take for them to do that and then notify the embassy?
The embassy said they did not receive my case (with all my documents) from the USCIS, which was supposed to be sent to them directly. This was is a problem for they say they can not grant a visa without it.
Please advise/help. I am on the brink of desperation (been waiting for 2 years)
June 29, 2015 at 14:10
I have no idea….
July 12, 2015 at 18:02
HI Simon
I’ve my own business here in Nepal. In work/education/Training Information
1) I entry the name of business it is fine.
2) Question of Does this job require at least 2 years of training or experience? It does not require experience and training but by mistake i fill yes.
3) Job title Businessman instead of Proprietor.
I think these mistakes should be corrected.please advice me If yes how and what should be corrected. Thank you.
July 12, 2015 at 19:06
If you qualify on education grounds you don’t need to worry about accuracy on work experience.
September 26, 2015 at 18:14
Hello,
Has any problem if i write the KCC about my 2NL delay?
Thanks.
September 26, 2015 at 18:16
They are not delayed – they are due before the end of the month.
September 26, 2015 at 18:40
Thank you for your answer.
My friend has the case number 2016EU….9450 and he have wrote them about two day before.Has any problem for the future?
Have a good time.
October 11, 2015 at 08:56
Hi,Mr.Brit
Jake here again i m realy worried about delay, current for December unlocking the form for correcting ,primary occupation, are we talking abot 1 week,1month…or no delay at all i realy respect you advice and opinion please …
Wish you all well
October 11, 2015 at 15:34
I cannot be precise – but interviews are scheduled once a month, so a delay means getting put back into a later month (probably the next month with such a minor change and maybe no delay at all). However, there is no reason to worry about the delay.
October 14, 2015 at 19:18
Hi britsimon
The permenat adress where i suppose to recieve my green card, which is my friend adress where i should stay with her as i wrote in the DS260 ,now this adress changed as they moved to another adress, so should i contact kcc to unlock my ds260 form?? Or its not important????
October 14, 2015 at 19:32
You can unlock to change it if you are waiting to be current anyway. If you cannot change it, you can update it at the interview.
October 15, 2015 at 13:54
Ok thank you. So as i will unlock to correct the address, what if i had answered th in the question(previous employment) the dates are wrong it differs from th e employment documrnt that i recently took it from the place where i was working befor.is it importanat or no to correct the dates..thank you & hope you understand me…
October 15, 2015 at 14:01
I am from sudan..is it one of the requirement to have a sponser from U.s or the bank statement is quite enough.since it seems important to prove that you are finacialy stable to be qualified for the dv visa.and that was not a requirement last years?
October 15, 2015 at 14:02
The dates don’t have to match perfectly…
October 15, 2015 at 15:39
Thank you..
December 26, 2015 at 02:54
Hello,
I expect an interview some time in March 2016 based on the current cutoff numbers.
Can the following cause delays in visa interview schedule if I request to have ds 260 form unlocked?
1- Need to add day of regular us visa expiration date
2- Update present address
3- Update current work position
December 26, 2015 at 03:50
No delay.
December 26, 2015 at 05:35
I submitted my DS 260 to the Kentucky consular center on the 28th August 2015. My case no. is 2016AF000001XX.
I wanna know when I can get my 2nl.
December 27, 2015 at 05:28
Maybe this month, possibly next month…
January 22, 2016 at 03:34
Hi Brit. My case number is 2016####49##. As we speak, Africa is current with 18,700. I sent kcc a mail asking about my interview and case number.
I was told my case number is current for interview and I will be notified soon. Am confused now since my number is high and I was thinking my interview would be in somewhere September?
January 22, 2016 at 06:00
4900 is not high – the highest AF number is 56000.
January 22, 2016 at 10:47
Thank you
March 1, 2016 at 08:18
Hi Brit,
We are current and submitted our DS-260 on Jan 20. When I asked KCC the status of our application, we got the Stage 2 answer “Pending Embassy Review”.
1- Is it still possible to lock the application at this stage?
2- Do we get the 2nd letter on next batch, I mean around 20th March?
Thanks
March 1, 2016 at 14:21
1. It is locked. You mean unlock – yes you can ask them to unlock if needed.
3. If you are current, yes.
March 1, 2016 at 15:14
Yes, I meant to unlock, sorry.
But I thought once the DS-260 processing complete, it is not possible to unlock? The KCC response says “Your forms have been received and pending further embassy review for the continuation of your visa processing….”
March 1, 2016 at 17:53
People unlock completed forms all the time…. It becomes not possible once the interview is scheduled.
March 5, 2016 at 05:56
It worked indeed, they unlocked it. Thanks 🙂
They only unlocked the principal, not the family members. But that is ok.
Our intention was to delay the interview. I expect to lock it about a month, to get a June interview.
Is it ok to lock with no changes at all?
March 5, 2016 at 06:11
Yes.
March 22, 2016 at 10:38
Hi Brit,
I noticed that your page: https://britsimonsays.com/ask-questions/ is very slow compared to your other pages. Sometimes the waiting time is too long and it is almost unusable.
Just to let you know if you’re not aware of it..
March 22, 2016 at 13:30
Yes, I had realized – thank you for mentioning. There are so many comments that are on that page – it is way beyond the expected numbers of comments. I delete older comments from time to time – I’ll do that again now….
March 22, 2016 at 13:48
Try again.
March 26, 2016 at 17:07
A strange thing happened.
My form is still unlocked. I was planning to lock in the coming days and I just received the 2nd letter, with interview date on it !
March 26, 2016 at 17:13
They have done this a few times recently. If you check the email you got when you unlocked, it says they don’t schedule interviews for unlocked cases – but they seem to have changed – if a case was processed, they schedule the interview.
March 26, 2016 at 18:25
Yes, that is right.
So the only way that remains to delay an interview is submitting the DS-260 late.
March 31, 2016 at 17:48
Hi Brit
I wrote kcc to unlock my form, i thought they could unlock my spouse form also but they only unlock mine which is the principal applicant. my question is there any way that i can get my spouse form unlock cuz the mistake is on both form??? please help
March 31, 2016 at 18:08
You have to ask them specifically to unlock that form too.
April 14, 2016 at 20:30
ar Burt
can you help us a lot of yemeni winners they choose Algiers to do the interview but Algiers don’t allowed to yemenis travel . Can you try to locate country to us like last year when you transfer yemeni s winners from Cairo to Algiers . what can we do?
April 14, 2016 at 21:24
I have answered a few queries like this. Contact Cairo or another embassy you can travel to and see if they will accept you, or contact Algiers and see if they can switch you to Cairo.
May 23, 2016 at 14:56
Hi Brit,
I am wondering whether mailing for unlocking for mistakes done means chances of not receiving second letter? I had mailed for unlocking due to spouse present address mistake.. plz help on this issue

Hi Simon
I would really be extremly thankful if you can please help me. I did a mistake of life ! while applying on line .
Accidently ; I ticked the box stating that I have no éducation while I have 2 master degrees and can speak 4 languages ( apart from my international professional experience)
I would really appreciate your kind support that I can correct this error otherwise I am afraid I would be simply eliminated as this point of education seems to be crucial .
Please help me to unlock application to correct it.
Many thanks in advance .
June 14, 2016 at 19:09
Make sure it is accurate on the DS260. If you do that, there is no problem.

It is a minor detail. I wouldn’t unlock for that, but fix it if you unlock for something else.

Thank you Brit for your quick reply! God bless

I’ve got the following response from KCC:
Our forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing.

Good evening Simon.
I would really need your advice on the following.
I am from France, My case will probably become current this February for a potential itw in April.
In my DS260, I entered my education background. – I would definitely qualify based on education.
My problem is I may have made a mistake in my work experience.
Right now in my ds260, I a have a full 2 years work experience (skilled work experience) from Oct 2013 to Oct 2015, but I was working for my dad, so I didn’t sign a contract or got official pay stubs before Jan 2014. So I have a few months of experience that I cannot provide documents for.
1. Should I unlock and correct, knowing that I would qualify with my education? Do you know what embassies usually ask as far as proof of employment?
2. My case is now fully processed (I called KCC this week to confirm). Do I risk a delay this February if I unlock, change and re-lock this week?
Thank you so much for your time sir!
January 31, 2017 at 23:53
1. If you are qualified on education they don’t care about work experience. No need to unlock.
2. See 1
February 1, 2017 at 17:58
Thank you sir. I was really wondering since you know… Everything needs to be as accurate as possible. Thanks.

Hi Brit!
I wanna ask I left by mistake one entry to the US of my 3 entries, which was in 2011, I misunderstood so I put my first entry which was on 2010 and last entry which was on 2014, the middle entry not added! so can I contact the KCC to unlock my application to add this info or I can add it at embassy interview? many thanks
June 12, 2017 at 13:59
If you are a DV2018 winner, you should unlock and correct that.
June 13, 2017 at 19:20
my CN 2018AS5xxx so shall I send KCC asking to unlock with full details about what mistakes with explanation I did or just ask them to unlock to add missing details without more details? and I got another 2 inquiries:
1- Is unlocking my application affect processing time?
2- Is unlocking my application affecting in somehow showing that I’m less honest or it will be just like a correctable mistake as?
Thanks Brit for your invaluable info u provide and really we appreciate all ur efforts.
God bless u!
June 13, 2017 at 20:25
1. Not normally, and in your case, certainly not.
2. No. It is showing that you want to put forward accurate data.
June 13, 2017 at 21:41
Brit my last questions are:
1- Shall I ask the KCC to unlock my application with full details with explanations that I misunderstood some points that I want to add or modify them? or just ask them to unlock with less details?
2- One of DS-260 question they ask about if there is any evoked or cancelled visas for me, are they mean if I get rejected to obtain visa at the embassy or are they mean if my old visa has been cancelled after I admitted to the US and its been cancelled upon issuing my new visa? because when I get my first F1 visa, then I needed to completed my second degree I needed a new F1 visa, so they stamped cancelled on my old F1 visa after issuing the new one.
3- Finally How long usually KCC takes to unlock my application?
Thank you and I’m big fan of ur blog
June 14, 2017 at 01:26
1. They don’t need to know the reason for the ulock request.
2. That example is not a problem – no need to answer yes.
3. 2 days to 2 weeks.
June 16, 2017 at 18:31
dear Brit,
I contact KCC to unlock my ds-260 application for revision, the email I sent was as per form you mentioned above, but the auto response from KCC was:
“Thank you for your inquiry.
To properly assist you, please clarify your request and resubmit.
When inquiring about the status of a Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center is a document processing facility, and cannot advise you on whether or not you will qualify for a visa. Only a consular officer can make that decision. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.”
so I’d like to know if it is normal?
Thanks
June 16, 2017 at 18:37
They are telling you to resubmit. You did something wrong with how for formatted the name, case number or DOB. Follow the instructions.
June 16, 2017 at 20:28
Dear Brit, thank you for your blog..now I got email from KCC that they unlocked my ds-260 so now I’ll review very letter and number before I resubmit it again..my CN 2018AS5xxx so I’m thinking of submitting my ds-260 later like in coming OCT 2018..as I’ll keep it opened in case I got a new job, new residency in a new country or maybe getting married..so do you advice me to keep it open and to resubmit it later or shall I just modify any made mistakes and to resubmit it now?
Thanks
June 16, 2017 at 21:23
Up to you to decide.
June 16, 2017 at 21:36
Dear Brit I know its up to me *-* but I need your advice..based in ur experience
June 16, 2017 at 22:01
I don’t have an opinion one way or another. Make your own mind up.
June 21, 2017 at 17:21
Hi britsimon
My interview date has arrived. Its on 17th of July. But when I review my DS-260 form, I saw that I had mistakenly written my previous education as “high school no degree” instead of “high school degree”. I had mailed KCC on 26th of June and they had said that my form will be reopened. But it is yet not reopened.
I dont know what shall I do. Shall I call them? or Shall I inform the interviewer directly before the interview?
Regards
June 22, 2017 at 19:41
Wait – they are busy.
June 23, 2017 at 00:14
Thanks Brit
June 22, 2017 at 12:03
Dear Brit, can you tell me, if I didn’t receive auto-reply that my email was received, should I write again?
June 22, 2017 at 20:28
You can decide.
June 30, 2017 at 22:11
Hi, thanks for the great information you are providing here.
I had a little problem with my application form.
my spouse have won the lottery right after we got engaged, there is just a little problem that our marriage certificate date of birth and my date of birth don’t match, it was a human error the person responsible of data entry changed July for June. I used this certificate for the DS-260 form and I upload it, does it effect my application if yes how can I go after it. Still I did not submit the application but my marriage certificate has been sent.
June 30, 2017 at 22:19
Well I would advise you to get the certificate corrected. If you do that, AND the correct date is on the DS260, then you should not have a problem.
July 1, 2017 at 18:52
but the incorrect certificate is already been sent, and my spouse name is added. the only other way is to add my spouse again.
July 3, 2017 at 21:53
Hi to All.
My spouse and me submitted the DV-2018 Entry separately. Before we met, I had a child and the little girl is living with us. My wife has no child for now. When she was filling her Entry, she mentioned no child, whereas, I mentioned one child.
Now that she has been selected, will it be possible for us to be issued visa, regarding what is writting on DV-2018 instructions?
If it would not be possible, could I fill “no child” instead of ” one child “on Form DS-260, to avoid to be disqualified?
Please help us!
July 3, 2017 at 22:46
If you were married before the DV entry then she should have listed the child. If she didn’t she will be disqualified. Lying is immigration fraud – a very serious matter that earns a lifetime ban as a minimum.
July 4, 2017 at 17:14
Hi BritSimon!
Thank you for your reply, I just want to add that, my wife Micale did not file for a child since she does not have one and did not claim to adopt the 8 years old girl.
Nice day!
July 4, 2017 at 19:50
You can ignore my comment if you want, but I am tryingb to save you from wasting your time and money. When your wife married you, your daughter became your wifes step daughter. That is automatic and does not need any legal process.
The instructions said to list:
“all living step-children who are unmarried and under the age of 21 on the date of your
electronic entry, even if you are no longer legally married to the child’s parent, and even if
the child does not currently reside with you and/or will not immigrate with you. ”
The instructions then also say:
“Failure to list all children who are eligible will result in disqualification of the principal applicant
and refusal of all visa applications in the case at the time of the visa interview. ”
The refusal is certain. This cannot be fixed. So – to proceed will be a waste of time and money – but you are free to waste your time and money if you want to.
July 4, 2017 at 20:55
Thank you some much Dear BritSimon for your accuracy and outspokenness! Life is sometimes cruel, unfortunately!
July 4, 2017 at 22:32
That is true.
