Do you think DV 2020 will go on?
February 4, 2018 at 01:16
That seems unlikely at this point.
February 4, 2018 at 03:58
Hi Brit, l am a LPR. My son was the principal beneficiary for a F2A preference category and an interview was scheduled for him but in the interview date his visa was refused because he aged out ( more than 21 and CSPA didn’t apply in his case). His case was returned to NVC. What is next?
Your answer will be highly appreciate.

Hello Mr. Simon, I am filling My Ds 260 form, but there are few questions I would love to ask and I will really be glad to get your help.
1. There is a questions on the Ds 260 asking you for your Occupation. Are they asking for the job you are doing right now or the job you want when you get to the US?
2.I met my wife with a child but I do not have a child now on the Ds 260 form there is a place asking if I have child or children. In this case will I chose Yes because of my wife child or No?
Thanks ……
February 4, 2018 at 14:36
1. Now (plus history)
2. You are not reading the DS260 correctly. There IS a place to add children. Take more care with the form.

Hi, sir I have a question about my aunt’s visa lottery, she was scheduled to have her interview at the Kenyan embassy and she went for it, but when she reached there, there was a mistake with her medical results and they asked her to go back to the hospital. One of the ladies at the reception told her when she’s all set with the hospital, she should go to the Embassy’s website and reschedule her interview date. This was around September of 2017, but she checks to see if the embassy updated their interview dates but they are all blank every day when she tried to contact the embassy to ask them when they usually update their schedule, all they keep telling her is to keep checking each day. Our worry is her visa lottery is gonna expire this year and we might not have found dates to reschedule. So my question is do you know any way we can go about this? Thanks!!
February 4, 2018 at 14:24
Interview is September 2017 we for DV2017. So – does her number start 2017AFXXX – if so, then her chance is gone. If it starts 2018AF she can continue but I don’t have any special method to book an appointment.
February 4, 2018 at 14:37
Dear Brit,
I’ve entered the United States on 14 of October 2017 and I am still waiting for my green card to be produced.
The status in USCIS still shows the message “immigrant fee received”.
It’s almost 4 month now, is the status update accurate? Is it normal to wait 4 months? I’m starting to worry a little bit, I now that the stamped visa serves to prove my LPR status but I am wondering if their might be some something wrong.
Interestingly the USCIS account itself shows this message:
November 18, 2017
In Process
USCIS has accepted your application, petition, or request for processing.
Does this maybe mean that my documents have arrived by the 11/18/2017 at USCIS?
I’m not in the US yet, is there any way how I can find out ihr there has been gone something wrong.
Thank you for your help, have a nice Sunday.
February 4, 2018 at 14:40
It can take months, yes – just wait.
February 4, 2018 at 18:44
Hello Mr simon. While filling out the DS-260 at the time, under the caption course of study for the high school I claimed to have graduated from,I reflected:”All High School Required courses”in respone to the course of study caption.Following the submission, I later on realized it should been” Academic” instead.Could this undermine processing of my case with KCC and possible visa isuance?
February 4, 2018 at 20:02
It won’t cause a problem.
February 4, 2018 at 19:07

Some people have done that with no problem – it simply delays approval.

Hi Brit,
Any news on will the federal govt ”KCC” continue their work after 8th february as the senate budget on that comes to an end?

No news.
February 5, 2018 at 03:38
Hi,
My email from the consulate for my interview says I need to bring my “congratulations, you’ve been selected for further processing letter” with me to the interview. My 1NL has been replaced by my 2NL. What do I do? Can I unlock the 1NL? Obviously if I have a 2NL then I must have had a 1NL so I don’t understand the need for this.
Thank you
Emma
February 5, 2018 at 05:59
Take the 2NL
February 5, 2018 at 03:42
Hi,
Sorry to post again. The email from the consulate with the interview information also says you have to send originals of your birth certificate and proof of education at least 2 weeks before the interview. Are certified copies acceptable? I am hesitant to send my original birth certificate in the mail.
Also, is the below a full list of what to send?
2 passport type photos
Photocopy of inside photo pages of passport
Police clearance letter
Birth certificate
Proof of high school education
Then bring to the interview:
Evidence of funds (is $US10k enough?)
CV/Resume
Passport
The fee in cash
Envelope for the return of your passport
Am I missing anything?
Thank you
February 5, 2018 at 06:00
I don’t know your case, so I am not going to verify your list. You must read the instructions and make sure you have everything that applies in your case. Over prepare.
February 5, 2018 at 06:36
I emailed the embassy where our interview is going to take place about the ”sponsor” and they replied that the embassy doesn’t require ANY FINANCIAL EVIDENCE at ALL.
Is that normal? Brit
February 5, 2018 at 15:35
It varies by embassy, but wise people take some financial evidence.
February 5, 2018 at 06:31
Hi, Simon. Thank you very much for your great help. I have a quick question. I am expecting my interview to be scheduled in April, as I have a EU number 16#####. My kids’ passports will expire in Feb. 2019. Do you think it is safer to renew their passports before the interview so as to not cause the delay of the stamps of the visas? Could you please advise? Thank you.
February 5, 2018 at 15:36
No problem to renew. Take old and new to the interview.
February 5, 2018 at 08:22
Hi Brit, I have completed the filling of my wife DS 260 form, but the problem is I am clacking on Add applicant to fill my information a small box appear before me asking for my information and I provided it even our marriage certificate is JPG and the size is less than 2mb, but Mr.Brit when I click on the summit this is what appear in red writing. February 5, 2018 at 15:34
I don’t know anything about that error. REad the instructions about the document, perhaps try a different browser.
February 5, 2018 at 20:20
Try a few times I was getting the same error after uploading my son birth certificate after a few try I finally went through.
February 5, 2018 at 21:21
Great
February 5, 2018 at 10:55
Hi, BritSimon. I wanted to ask you if maybe 8.000 or 10.000 € would be enough money as support for me and my wife (interview in Spain), and if we could use our second passport to stamp the visa (different from our country of eligibility). Thanks.
February 5, 2018 at 15:30
THat is not a lot of money – I would recommend an I-134. Yes you can use the other passport.
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
February 5, 2018 at 15:40
Hey Simon!
I am a single – student. Do you think in my case having 8.000 or 10.000 € in my bank account will be enough?
February 5, 2018 at 15:41
Maybe.

February 5, 2018 at 13:59

February 7, 2018 at 17:16
Nice!
February 7, 2018 at 22:08
They didn’t ask us for any interview fee…. Did you ever hear of something like that? Is it possible they forgot to or did they charge my sponsors account based on the routing/checking number provided ? We will give them a call tomorrow
February 7, 2018 at 22:38
That is odd. Give them a call, you don’t want some delay later because they discover their error.
February 5, 2018 at 14:27
1.met my wife with a child but I do play with my son. Can my wife child be part of case?
February 5, 2018 at 15:21
Yes.
February 5, 2018 at 15:40
Hlo, Simon
after how long time can we sponsor our parents to come to USA after the applicant has entered to US as a lottery program?
are there any any option that we can sponsor and bring them soon? for instance, if my wife become pregnant.
February 5, 2018 at 15:43
Citizenship takes at least 5 years. Before then, they may be able to come on a visitors visa.
February 5, 2018 at 16:40

February 5, 2018 at 18:52
Yes – just like you have seen me answer 100 times.
February 5, 2018 at 16:55
hi
i applied for dv with my nationality country (sudan) not my birth country (yemen) and i get married before the results and my wife country of birth is sudan is this can give me a chance??
February 5, 2018 at 18:50
No, you will certainly be disqualified because you did not follow the instructions. You should have an AS number, not an AF number. If you proceed to interview you will be wasting your money.
February 11, 2018 at 17:30
what about cross chargebility i read about it somewhere
February 11, 2018 at 17:34
Yes, I wrote a guide on it – but you cannot claim cross changeability to your wife’s country as you were not already married when you entered the lottery. So your entry was invalid.
February 11, 2018 at 18:47
Hi Sir
Your fast responses and clarification are highly appreciated and sorry for bothering again just last question
If my parents were temporary located in yemen when I was born and both of them are Sudanese nationality can I build my case on that
February 11, 2018 at 20:12
You can try. There is such an exception known as the missionary exception – BUT it is normally for use when you are born in a country not eligible to participate in the lottery.
February 6, 2018 at 00:26
When checking my cesc status; i get “the code entered does not match the code displayed.. .is it normal situation or it is concerning my case number?
February 6, 2018 at 01:12
Ceac is not working, try again in a couple of days
February 6, 2018 at 08:53
Dear Brits,
I entered an incorrect data when I schedule my interview. The system said you can correct it by canceling your appointment. What does it mean does it just cancel the information I entered or totally cancel my interview appointment? Please help
February 6, 2018 at 14:22
I don’t know.
February 6, 2018 at 15:46
Dear Brits, In the interview appointment system I interchanged Given Name and Surname for derivetives. The data is not modifiable. If I leave it as it is does it cause denial?
February 6, 2018 at 17:27
You can leave it that way.
February 6, 2018 at 19:32
thank you sir. I think it doesn’t affect my interview result.
February 6, 2018 at 09:50
Hello sir Brit, im filling Medical Examination Application. There are 2 questions about smoking. I am currently smoking, but if i chosse NO will it afect? Can it disqualify me? I appreciate your help.
February 6, 2018 at 14:22
Just tell the truth!
February 6, 2018 at 21:18
Please sir, in my cultural country sth are impossible to explain, Please just an answer. For personal and familiar resons i must say NO. Will this disqualify me?
February 6, 2018 at 22:43
If you lie about something they can wonder what else you are lying about. So – MY advice is to tell the truth at all times – if you want to lie, I can’t advise you about that!
February 8, 2018 at 11:00
And if i quit now, that won”t be a lie???
Thanks for your patience
February 8, 2018 at 15:19
That is the question of a child.
Your original “reason” for having a problem is nonsense. Tell the truth, and stop wasting my time.
February 6, 2018 at 11:45
Dear Brit,
I read you talking a lot of time that rescheduling ( the embassy location) is risky; as it put one behind the queue in a year that won’t go current;
my question is: is rescheduling the appointment date risky too? ( because my wife is likely to give birth around the interview date hence will probably not be able to travel Bujumbura- Nairobi) that I have do it when there is no other choice?
February 6, 2018 at 14:25
Yes that can cause risk. Only do that if there is *NO* other choice.
February 6, 2018 at 13:26
Hi!
What if my case will be scheduled on 29th September and CO approves my visa, but my visa will fall into full Administrative Processing afterwards. Does it mean that my visa will be lost due to an end of current fiscal year?
February 6, 2018 at 13:40
I ound my answer in this article: https://britsimonsays.com/dv2018-selectee-numbers-published/
Meaning that visa will be not issued in this case 🙁
February 6, 2018 at 14:33
Hello Simon, I have a question. What if the Trump administration cancel the green card lottery, is this going to affect current drawing which is going to be on May 2018? And if they cancel the green lottery is this situation will affect current green card holders and their citizenship process? Thank you very much.
February 6, 2018 at 14:39
If they change the law now, it could cancel the DV2019 (which is the May 2018 draw. It will not affect current GC holders.
February 6, 2018 at 16:31
Thank you very much for your reponse.
February 6, 2018 at 17:20
Hi simon,
If the Trump Administration cancel dv lottery can it stop printing visa bulletin for dv lottery for next months?(maybe 2018 June July)
February 6, 2018 at 17:29
Of course not.
February 6, 2018 at 15:30

February 6, 2018 at 21:15
No
February 6, 2018 at 22:03
Hi, my interview is in 13 hours and I wanted to ask if there is a problem if my copies of my original documents are in color but do not represent 100% the original colors (I am talking about color alterations because of the lack of yellow ink in my printer). Due to this, some documents backgrounds are blue instead of yellow. Thanks and may I write my successful interview story tomorrow!
February 6, 2018 at 22:56
No problem. Relax.
February 6, 2018 at 22:22

February 7, 2018 at 03:04
hello everybody, how are you? hi Mr Simon, i wish you be fine
Dear Mr. Simon, Dear Maddam/Sir(s)
I need to aprove something, the thing is, I have answered “yes” to the Social Secuirty Number to be issued in my DS-260 case, and as i read from social secuirty administration website, my SSN card will be Sent to to my mailing address automatically after 3 weeks of my arrival, without filling any Special Application or going to SSA office myself,
but after 2 weeks, one of my friends asked me to go to SSA office in our local erea to fill SSN Application because he didn’t believe that the SSN will be Created and Mailed automatically, and when we arrived at SSA office, they checked my name and told me “you are not in the System”
and then i filled an application there for my SSN to be issued,
February 7, 2018 at 03:17
There is no need for what you suggest. Most people find their SSN arrives automatically, some don’t. There is no need to “survey” that – so I have edited the question.
February 7, 2018 at 15:17
ohh thank you so much, this is what i meant
thanks again and you feel free to remove my question, if you want.
February 7, 2018 at 09:00
Hello brit sir,
Greetings from Nepal !!!
sir i made a mistake at father surname in my passport.
as per my passport his surname is Jnawali and as per his documents his surname is Gyawali.
my father used to write his surname as Gyawali and i have all the academic/national IDs/DS260/passport document with surname Jnawali in mine.
i have done all the documents/DS260 with Gyawali in father’s last name as per his passport.
while making Police report officer told me to write my fathers last name as per my passport. so its seems different father last name in my police report.
i have made the document regarding last name Gyawali and Jnawali is same surname from the municipality. interview is scheduled in comming monday so i don’t have time to change my passport.
i don’t have any option left so any suggestion sir.
it would be great help for me.
Thank you so much for your help.
February 7, 2018 at 14:13

February 7, 2018 at 13:33
Am the main applicant. Our interview was in January with my husband. After the interview the CO said our visas were approved and we were to collect it after 2 weeks. When I checked my status, my husband was put on AP. We went to collect our visas and our passports were returned with no visas and they promised to get back to us.
The next day, a form was sent to my husband which he filled and they confirmed receiving it.
On our status I am still put on Ready with the kids while my husband is on AP. They didn’t mail me for any additional information.
Can my case be approved while my husband is on AP bcos am the main applicant
February 7, 2018 at 14:25

Hi Brit, I know you got lots of tons of questions from around the world. I know how much busy u r. I got two questions from my friend now.
(1) No one from U.S embassy in Burma called her until after interview, though consular officer told her there’s no problem with her visa. And she knows the website is under maintenance over days but it’s good on yesterday noon, she told me.
(2) Is there any problem with her dream coming true and is there any side-effects of Trump’s.
We really appreciate with your efforts. Thank you so much, Brit.

hello sir, please, on my wife’s birth certificate, her place of birth is LOBE, a small estate or town found in EKONDO TITI.
1- On the ds260, they ask for place of birth and emphasized CITY. was i suppose to put LOBE, the small town in which she was born which is found in EKONDO TITI, or was i suppose to put EKONDO TITI in which LOBE is found?
2- if it is EKONDO TITI and on my ds260 i put EKONDO TIT (second ‘I’ omitted), should i unlock and add the omitted ‘I’ or it’s ok?
thanks
