1. I filled my birth place as Accra on my initial entry but change to Obuasi on my Ds -260 since that is on my birth cert and passport
2.I mistakenly answered no to if i have completed high school or higher institution. Though i have completed both and have the school cert to proof
September 12, 2016 at 16:55
Because of these mistakes you can expect some level of suspicion from the CO if interviewing in Accra.

Hi Simon,
I got selected in the 2nd draft just a few days ago and my case number is EU28XXX.
From what I understand, this is quite a high number, but, as highlighted in your articles, case numbers around that always got to the interview stage in the past. Is that correct?
I haven’t submitted my DS260 yet as I’m evaluating with my boyfriend the possibility of getting married before submitting it, we’ve been together 7 years so we are not worried about it, but I was wondering if it’s better to wait before I file the DS260 til the end of the year, when we are probably able to do a court wedding and input him as my derivative, or is it better for me to file it ASAP as single and unlock it later on once we get married? What’s the best way to do it?
Thanks,
Samantha
September 12, 2016 at 15:14
That number is OK.
I would suggest you get married, then submit. Do that within a few months from now. Take proof of your 7 year relationship to the interview.
September 12, 2016 at 15:37
Thanks Simon!
Two more questions:
1) Where does the interview usually take place? Home country or country where you’re currently living? Is there a chance to choose? We live in the UK but we’d rather hold the interview in our home country (Italy) so our documents could be accepted also in Italian.
2) Related to this, can you confirm that the supporting documents to bring along at the interview can be in the country’s official language, or necessarily in English?
Thanks,
Samantha
September 12, 2016 at 16:54
1. Country of residence. If you want to hold the interview in Italy you need to give your current address in Italy. Frankly, you would be better off translating documents to English.
2. English or the official local language. As I mentioned in point 1, English is more useful, especially in the USA.

Attended Dv interview and Co asked us to do DNA test for all of us parents and kids
1.already done sample collection and embassy sent it to US lab… Suppose the lab takes long time to send results to embassy beyond 30 September… Will we get visa after? As us we have done our part….
2.does the US embassy accept DNA results in mail from the lab in US?
3.or it waits for DNA results in hard copy from US lab for them to make decision whether to give us visa or not?
Thanks
September 12, 2016 at 15:20
1. If it goes beyond 30 September you cannot be approved after that point.
2. I don’t know – that is something for the embassy to decide.
3. I don’t know – that is something for the embassy to decide.
September 12, 2016 at 08:33
hi Simon,
Is it true that the documents that are presented in the interview should be issued within the last 3 months before the interview? and some one told me the date of issuance is not important. which one is true?
thanks
September 12, 2016 at 15:26
It depends on the document. Police certificates need to be recent, while birth certificates do not. It’s common sense.
September 12, 2016 at 08:32
Hi Britsimon,
I understand that once my interview has been scheduled ( for DV-2017 ), my case is forwarded to the US consulate in the city where my interview is scheduled – which I can confirm is in October, 2016.
I believe I can check the status of my immigrant visa application on this website:
https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/
I have tried a few times to check, but keep receiving “invalid case number”. Yet, I know my case number is correct.
Could this error be due to the case not yet received by the US consulate?
Or, is there a different number ( or format ) that I should be entering?
Regards,
AJ
September 12, 2016 at 15:27
The 2017 cases are not loaded in CEAC yet – and won’t be for some months.
September 12, 2016 at 07:25
Hi Simon,
First of all thanks for the great website. Very useful and great information for all DV selectee.
I have one question and I don’t know if I’m overthinking it.
The question in DS260
“Have you ever lived other than this address since the age of sixteen?”
No I lived at the same place in the last 20 years but the problem is My Goverment changed the name of the street 2 years ago.
So lets in my old passport my address was: 1234 #StreenName apt #10
and in my new passport the address is: 1234 #NewStreetName apt #10
Does this mean the address is changed, or I lived other than this address?
In reality they both point to the same place where I live.
Thanks a lot
September 12, 2016 at 15:27
Just give the most recent VERSION of the address.
September 12, 2016 at 05:24
Hi Brit,
Sorry to bother you again and hope you can ease me from the sleepless nights I am having. I told you earlier that I received a mail from USCIS Photomac Service center and you told me that it is Adjustment of Status.
I have mailed to USCIS to transfer my case back to KCC or KDU on Aug 31. I haven’t yet heard anything from them. So I emailed KCC yesterday explaining the situation and to recall my case back from USCIS and transfer to KDU.
1. Is there the hope that the case gets transferred and I will be interviewed at KDU?
2. Will I get the notification when the case gets transferred? Will I get an email?
3. How do I know if my spouse’s (principal applicant) and my son’s case are with KCC and haven’t been transferred to USCIS ?
4. In the 2NL, does it come bearing the name of the Principal Applicant along with the name of the derivatives?
September 12, 2016 at 15:31
1. I don’t know.
2. I don’t know.
3. Ask KCC
4. Yes
September 12, 2016 at 00:43
How long do i have to fill in the DS260 if you were selected for the 2nd round of DV Lottery?
September 12, 2016 at 00:48
Up to around May of next year.
September 11, 2016 at 18:45
HI BRIT, I GOT THE VISA AND ABOUT TO TRAVEL BUT THERE IS ONE ISSUE THAT I WANT TO CLEARLY KNOW ABOUT IT AND IT IS SOCIAL SECURITY #. HOW COULD I GET IT? WIIL I APPLY IT AFTER MY ARRIVAL TO US? OR SHOULD I GET BEFORE I TRAVEL TO THE STATES?
September 12, 2016 at 00:50
Depending on what you selected in the DS260, it will either arrive after you land in USA or you will apply at the SSA office.

Hello Simon,
I hope you are doing well, sorry i couldn’t find my comment to continue the conversation. Thank you very much for the time you took to reply regarding my first concern about registering from the UAE and the chance of getting the DV from there.
I have few more questions if you don’t mind :
1. I would like to apply for school in the U.S, is DV can interfere with my F-1 visa application that i didn’t apply for yet, i made some research about it and according to some articles students or future foreign students are not subject to ” dual intent ” anymore. If i get it right, i won’t have any problems registering in the DV and applying for the F-1 visa.
2. I know that i can apply from anywhere in the world with the same chances of getting the DV. can you please share your opinion regarding studying on F-1 visa and registering in the DV from the U.S ( while studying ), as you’re a person who has great knowledge about this matter.
3. Can a person who is illegal for 17 year but entered the U.S with a valid student visa, register in the DV without the risk of being deported from the country. this person still has a valid ID wish is his driving license that he received while studying, the driving license is different than the one provided now to student as it similar to the ones residents and US citizens have ( longer time on it ).
This person asked few years back an immigration lawyer about registering in the DV but he told him that you will be asked to go back to your original country for paper work purpose, and may be denied entry and banned for 10 years.
What do you think about this case, as i know that you are not a lawyer, but please if you can share you opinion with us.
4. Is it possible to have your email ?
September 12, 2016 at 00:53
1. The F1 isn’t a problem for the DV, but the DV can show intent and affect the F1
2. The chance is identical.
3. A person who is not in status in the USA cannot adjust status while in the USA. If that person leaves the USA, they may incur a ban for up to 10 years. So the lawyer was correct.

Hi Simon,
My case went current and I should be scheduled for an interview in November. I submitted my DS260 on May 13th, unlocked on June 7th and resubmitted that same day.
I am reviewing my info and I realised that I made a mistake in listing my previous addresses. I moved different times in the same city in Switzerland over the years and tipped the addresses with the right zip code. I just put “Sweden” in one of them – even though the city is obviously in Switzerland – since both countries are back to back in the scroll down.
Should I unlock or just correct the mistake at the interview?
Also, I have more than Frs. 50,000 in my savings account, should I get someone in the US sponsor me or fill in a I-34 (or something like that…)? Or bank statements are enough? I am a Swiss citizen and I will be interviewed in Switzerland.
Thanks a lot for your time and assistance!
September 11, 2016 at 16:29
Earlier, I would have said to correct that address mistake. At this point it is probably too late to do that – so you can discuss that at the interview. They may have run background checks in Sweden and the CO may be expecting a police report from Sweden based on your address history mistake.
Your savings should be enough, although having an I-134 from the USA is always a worthwhile precaution (being over prepared).
September 11, 2016 at 16:43
I am pretty made at myself for making that stupid mistake but I think I can explain it easily to the CO. Switzerland is small country and the city where I live is a well-known one. I have a Swiss police report.
Your comment raises another question: I spent 6 months in South Africa in 2010 studying English (i have a certificate proving it) and travelling. My residence was Switzerland but since I spent half a year over there I put in in my DS260. Should I get a police report from SA??
Same with the USA, I volunteered 6 months in a NGO last year and mentioned it in the DS 260. I put the address although my residency remained Switzerland. Do I need a police report?
Thanks a lot!
September 11, 2016 at 17:12
THe instructions call for police reports from other countries after 1 year of residence there. Please make sure you read the instructions to see what else you might be missing….
September 12, 2016 at 06:26
Thanks!
I am actually super worried about the mix up between Switzerland and Sweden. Will it hurt my case if I email KCC to explain the mistake and ask whether, at this stage of the process, it is better to unlock and correct or waitt and explain it to the CO at interview?
September 12, 2016 at 15:28
Relax. You are stressing over a trivial mistake.
September 12, 2016 at 06:51
To be noted that I have an affidavit of the city where I live certifying I was staying at that address. So this is an official document showing the address is switzerland and not Sweden.
I will also try to get a copy of the lease…
(sorry for my emails but I almost had a heart attack…)
September 11, 2016 at 05:51
Dear Brit,
Now my wife is pregnant and my baby birth may be before receiving the second letter that shows out time and place of interview and it is possible that I have to unlock our DS260 form to add my baby information. I heard that resubmitting of this form can delay the interview time for 4-6. I am got so worried. Let me know whether my interview will be postpone in this condition.
Amir
September 11, 2016 at 05:59
What difference would it make it you were delayed 4 to 6 weeks???
September 11, 2016 at 05:30
Hello,
I have had my AOS interview on August 23rd. The IO requested my file from KCC on the same day. I kept calling KCC every other day and they kee telling me it takes 2 weeks to process and sometimes they say it takes 4-6 weeks.
I have an INFOPASS appointment on Tuesday. I just wanted to know in general
(1) If the IO is REQUIRED to receive the file before making a decision? Or can an officer make a decision before receiving the file?
(2) Is there anything I should be asking in my INFOPASS? Because I feel it will be useless going there if they cannot do anything unless KCC sends my file.
(3) I am really worried that they will take their time pst the Sept 30th deadline. Should I still be worried? Or do they (KCC) consider the deadline and have a plan to when they send out all DV2016 files?
Thank you very much in advance!
Regards,
September 11, 2016 at 05:46
Call KCC and check exactly when it was requested and when it was (or will be) sent. At the infopass make certain you ask whether they have the file and ask do they know about the deadline.
September 11, 2016 at 14:40
They (KCC) already told me that my file was requested on the day of the interview August 23rd. They said it was not sent yet. And sometimes they would tell me that it would be sent in 2 weeks and sometimes they would say 4-6 weeks.
And during the infopass I will ask about them if they received my file. And the officer seemed to know about the deadline and asked me not to worry (that was right after the interview)
So, do you know in general if IO is required to have my KCC file before making a decision on my case? Or can they make a decision before receiving my file? Just wanted to know so I’d know what to expect as an outcome from the infopass and/or I’d know how much to worry when approaching the deadline
(Maybe if they do not need the KCC file to make a decision and they see that the deadline is approaching they would make a decision while waiting for the file to be sent)
Thanks again!
September 11, 2016 at 16:23
They need the file. The file doesn’t take 4 to 6 weeks to prepare UNLESS you did not send in your DS260 earlier in the process. If you did that correctly, KCC normally send the file within a day or two of being asked for the file by the FO. The file is sent electronically – meaning delivery is instant.
September 11, 2016 at 19:21
Thank you for the explanation.
That is very weird. I did submit my DS around May 2015 and then opened to add my middle name and resubmitted around June 2015. Which is well over a year ago. I hope the infopass would help me better understand what is going on.
Thanks again!
September 11, 2016 at 02:23

Your guess is as good as mine. Wait and see.
September 10, 2016 at 17:01
Hi sir,
I have a question regarding my education.
I attended high chool in secondary military school ( its the name of school ) but i never served in military ! How can i write this without to be perceived wrong ?
September 10, 2016 at 22:26
Just give the name accurately.
September 10, 2016 at 14:46
Hi Brit.
what would be the consequence if the same person is willing to sponser 2 person? one is winner of edv2016 and had overstayed his us visa previously. he has his interview on a fortnight.
I won the 2017 edv and will this be a problem? we named the same person as sponser.
regards
September 10, 2016 at 16:29
It’s not a great idea. Some embassies might catch that, some might not.
September 10, 2016 at 19:08
can we change the sponser now? if not what would be the right way?
would you clarify on “embassies might catch” please.
the sponser is a legit us citizen. the other person that they sponsored had overstayed his visa.
September 10, 2016 at 21:53
If the embassy realize the same sponsor is on two applications they might refuse to take the sponsor in the second case. Change the sponsor.
September 11, 2016 at 02:45
Is there any specific procedure to change the sponsor? Do I have to inform the consulate about changing the sponsor?
Is it compulsary for the sponsor to fill out the I 134 form or a welcome letter will be sufficent?
thanks a lot.
September 11, 2016 at 03:32
Perhaps you are confusing two things. In some countries the “host” system is someone in the States willing to accept you. That person is sometimes thought to be a sponsor and for some embassies, that is enough. Other embassies want a “real” sponsor, and in that case you get them to complete a sponsor letter.
September 10, 2016 at 12:27
Hi BritSimon,
I’ve been selected with CN 2017EU00030XXX from a second draw.
What do you think about that number? Is it pretty high? I’ve read VB but i’m not quite sure if I’ve understood exactly what CURRENT mean. I’ve seen the number in previous year(s) is between May/Jun for interview and I was thinking that if it is too late to get a visa until then. Is there a chance for interview after I will submit the DS-260?
September 10, 2016 at 16:32
It is not too high, I would expect you to become current. Current means your case number is under the number shown on the visa bulletin for the region – and therefore eligible for an interview. Also the VB is marked CURRENT once KCC determine there are enough visa places for all remaining demand in a region.
September 11, 2016 at 11:59
Thank you BritSimon!
September 10, 2016 at 11:19
Hi Brit my case is AF116xx
ds260 submitted 14 june 2016
now i am current so is it possible to miss 2NL?
September 10, 2016 at 22:03
“Miss” – what do you mean? When your form is processed, you will be scheduled for interview. That’s it.
September 10, 2016 at 06:50
Hello simons i have lost pictures of my wedding i have regular pictures is it must wedding picture and like how many pictures should a person send
September 10, 2016 at 22:23
Send? You don’t send photos. Take them to the interview. How many is your call.
September 10, 2016 at 02:33
Hi,
I am a green card holder and I am planning to stay outside the united states for 11 months. Is that period could affect my re-entry to USA?
I am afraid that the officer don’t allow to me for re-entry.
Thanks
September 10, 2016 at 04:01
If it is your first absence since becoming an LPR the border control office tend to be lenient up to the 12 months. However, if not, you may be faced with questioning about whether you are serious about your residency.
September 10, 2016 at 01:42
Hi BritSimon
Firstly, a huge thank you for all of the advice and information you provide on the DV process. Incredible effort! I am quite new to all of this as I was just successful with a second round draw, number OC10XX. My husband and I submitted the DS260 this week as promptly as we could, thinking that it had to be in ASAP. Anyway, now on reflection I realise there are a couple of things I should have queried prior to submitting.
My questions to you are:
1) Should I have included an educational institution I attended briefly about 12 years ago, although I didn’t receive any award/certificate? I have only listed the institutions where I completed an award.
2) We are expecting our first child in around 2 months. Shall I ask for my DS260 to be unlocked once my child is born so I can add the relevant information, or just inform the CO at interview (if our case number is successful next year)?
3) Are you required to list all work experience (i.e. first casual job as teenagers, etc.) or just professional jobs since graduating? I only included office/professional jobs I have worked in since I was 19, as I figure that I will satisfy the education criteria.
4) I assume that high school is as far back as you have to list for education, correct? Or do I also list my primary school details? Is my official high school certificate evidence enough that I completed 12 years of school successfully?
5) There were a couple of previous addresses about a decade ago that I just couldn’t find details on the street number, so I just included all of the other correct details (apartment name, street, town, post, code, country, dates). Will there be any issue in forgetting the street number/apartment number for a couple of old addresses?
A huge THANK YOU for your assistance with this!
Cheers.
September 10, 2016 at 04:04
1. If it was secondary level or above, yes it should have been listed.
2. You will have to unlock both of your forms and also add a form for the child.
3. Professional jobs.
4. Secondary level and above.
5. No problem.
September 10, 2016 at 01:12
hello britsimon thanks for your great efforts :
i have question my selection letter name is michael ramzy zaky but at passport is michael ramzy zaky abdelsayed is there is problem shall i have to change passport or no problem with that ? and when i will fill ds 260 shall i write name as selection letter or as passport ? can i write last name zaky abdelasyed ?thanks a lot
September 10, 2016 at 04:05
You don’t change your passport/birth cert to match the DS260/eDV -0 you change the DS260!
September 10, 2016 at 08:04
So at ds260 i have to write name as passport and my birth certify even my 4th name did not present at eDV
September 10, 2016 at 22:10
Yes. Your full legal name.
September 15, 2016 at 20:22
so is it better to send this notice to kccdv to process it and send letter to my consulate and not to be under AP next as my interview will be late august ,according to visa bulletin last years what is your opinion sir thxxx alot for your really amazing help
September 15, 2016 at 22:16
You just make sure the DS260 is correct. That informs KCC and the background check is then on the correct name. That is what the consulate will be most concerned about.
September 9, 2016 at 16:58
Dear BritSimon,
My gmail accout got suspended due to some issues. I have already appealed it to google. However, it is really not sure if I will get my account recovered or not.
It is the same account which I used while filling all the DV related forms and my 2NL will also come in that email address. So, is it possible to change my email address where my 2NL will come?
Thank you! 🙂
September 9, 2016 at 16:59
You don’t need the 2NL. You can check the ESC site without the 2NL.
September 9, 2016 at 16:11
Dear Sir
There’s someone( married without Children) his Case Number: 2017AS000015xx and complete
DS-260 in 8th september 2016,
According to your experience
* How long will be scheduling interview for him ( What is the month expected for his interview)
Thank you for your help
September 9, 2016 at 16:50
His case must wait until the DS260 is processed – that might take 3 or 4 months.
September 9, 2016 at 15:34

I’m in Ethiopia Brit ,that’s why
So please tell me
Thank you sir
September 9, 2016 at 21:53
Well that is something worth mentioning!!!!
I don’t know exactly how the progression will be – and I am not predicting without data. Wait and see.
September 9, 2016 at 14:53
Hello BritSimon
First of all let me thank you for launching this site. The information is so valuable. Thanks.
I have been selected and have NC1 and allocated a 2017OC000011** case.
Id be interested to hear your thoughts about my position in the queue giving the numbers of 2017 etc. Also – I’m in the process of filling in the DS260 forms and have a few questions.
Q1 – My wife and I have both worked for 10 years in our current jobs. Although we do have previous employers do we need to answer “yes” in the Previous Work/Education/Training Information – Were you previously employed and add the details. It states we only need to provide 10 years history.
Q2 – Dates of Schools start and end dates – Months are 100 percent but dates are estimates. Is this ok or do we need to contact the actual schools to have this accurate?
My 3rd question is more about producing documents.
Q3 – I work as an IT Contractor / consultant with my own limited company. what documents originals should I look to bring to the interview to prove skills, training. The company I contract to are happy to write documents. I have things like Limited Company accounts, bank statements etc. Id be interested to hear your thoughts on what I should focus on getting together.
September 9, 2016 at 16:58
You are at the back end of the queue.
1. It’s up to you – you can put more than 10 years history if you want.
2. Good guess is OK.
3. If you meet the education standard they are not going to ask for any work info at all. You only need to show details such as you describe if you have to qualify on work experience because you don’t meet the education standard.
September 9, 2016 at 17:18
Thanks for the speedy reply. For Q1 if we did put more than 10 years employment history & decided the work experience route would we need to prove this with documentation in the interview? Or do you only need to bring documentation for current job and experience?
I still haven’t decided yet if we go down the work or education route yet. I’m still investigating the best route for myself and wife to take.
September 9, 2016 at 21:56
What investigation are you doing??? Education is simple – you either meet the requirement or you don’t. Done. If you do – it makes NO SENSE to go down the work experience route (because it is subjective and needs far more preparation to ensure the CO agrees with your assessment of your experience).

Investigating just the requirement for New Zealand – Managed to find this – https://nz.usembassy.gov/visas/diversity-visa-lottery/am-i-eligible/
Good news. I completed 6th form and 7th form in NZ and I have all the originals to confirm it all. Definitely heading down the education route. Thanks again for your information it has been very helpful.
Final question about Police records for supporting documents for the interview. Does each applicant need to supply police records for each of the current and previous addresses filled in the DS260 form? (from the age of 16 onwards)
September 12, 2016 at 15:25
About police records – follow the instructions on the reciprocity pages.

Dear Simon
we are the Algerians winners of D.V 2016 who missed the interview and was rescheduled on SEP/05/2016
we have passed the interview with success and our visas status is “issued” thanks to god.
it was very easy they asked us some simple questions like the date of the mariage and about
the year of the BAC and what have u study in the university.
we show theme 1091000.00 DZ (8500 $) it was enough. (we havent affidavit)
we want to ask u about the fee of immigration if there is a difference to pay before we travel or after ?
because there is no way to pay it from Algeria.
thank u for all !
September 9, 2016 at 15:58
You can pay before or after entry – there isn’t much difference, although paying before probably speeds up delivery of the Green Card slightly.
September 11, 2016 at 02:06
What was your case number plz im too from algeria but im selected for the dv2017 with a high case number???
September 9, 2016 at 09:06
Hi mr Brit
I have one question
I am muslim i have two wife (spouses) and i need to apply Dv 2018 so each one of us wants to apply as primary or principal applicant the question is
Can my two wife take me as spouse ?
September 9, 2016 at 16:37
USA doesn’t recognize polygamy, so you will have to choose. Theoretically your wives could both enter mentioning you, but you could not process for all three of you.

September 9, 2016 at 05:45
Hi brit thank you for the reply on my previous question. Do you know more or less how long the embassy will hold your passport should you be successful in the interview? Thank you

September 9, 2016 at 04:57

September 8, 2016 at 20:59
Hi brit I applied dv from Europe and got selected 2017AS000072**.but I am from Nepal. My interview will be in Europe if I got 2NLs. My question.
1. I will get 2NLs according to visa bulletin Europe?or nepal . How my cases is analysed. .I have to wait for case number to current as per Nepal visa bulletin or as per Europe.
2. I mean this month visa bulletin shows Nepal upto 2000..and Europe upto 13000.I have to wait for Nepal till my case number or I will get 2NLs as per Europe. Thank you. And what about chances of getting 2NLS??
September 8, 2016 at 21:18
1. You follow the ASIA VB and in particular Nepal.
2. See 1
Nepal may have a special limitation at the end of the year (as it did in DV2016). I can’t guess that with certainty, you simply have to wait and see. You probably won’t know if you are “safe ” until May/June of next year, because your number is just above the DV2016 cutoff.
September 8, 2016 at 20:53
Hello Brit. I’m a D.V 2016 winner whose case was on administrative for nine months now and on August 25th 2016, the embassy called me to return my passport and an updated medical especially when the medical i submitted on my interview has been expired and today, i went to the embassy and give them the updated medical and passport. Is there any hope of issuing me a visa especially when my case has taken nine months under administrative processing from December 1st 2015 to September 1st 2016
September 8, 2016 at 21:29
Asking you to provide the passport and medical is a good sign BUT you can only be sure once the visa is in your hands. Good luck.
September 8, 2016 at 20:20
Hi;
I am DV 2017 selectee. I`m trying to complete my DS 260 form. I have a problem. My children are american and I did not list them on my eDV form. Should I list them in the DS260 form, now?
September 8, 2016 at 21:32
You can list them, it won’t harm your case (leaving children off the eDV is acceptable if they are US citizens).

good afternoon hi simon i have aquestion for you and i really really need your answer as an expert … my question is i was reading a post you made about update theroy and you said that in 2015 dv us visa lottery there ere some people that been not selected in the entrant status check but in fact are winner because of the glitch error that happend in 2015 but its unknown for 2016 lottery names , cause i enterd the 2014 dv us elctronic visa and from that year till now i still seeing the same result …… not selected ! what dose it mean simon ? and do still keep my hope to win till septemper 30 2016 ? or is it the glitch of past year has returend again ? ps note : i enternd the 2014 dv electronic us visa in november 1 again im sorry simon for all these questions but im just worried that that my dream moment to win that i been waiting for might be out of th watere bridge , what i should do simon ? should i keep my fingercross and keep hope untill septemper 30 for a chance to see my self selected ? please help my patence is strong but 7 years is along time for adream to happen … i ned your help simon ……… sorry for the long questions and thank you so much for helping people about these issues peace
September 8, 2016 at 21:41
You have to understand, this is a lottery. The average chance of winning is worse than 1 in 100. So – you could apply for 100 years and only win one time. Check the ESC page again in a few weeks, but otherwise try again in DV2018 (opening in October).
September 8, 2016 at 14:15
Hi Simon, sorry for posting this question twice, but i can’t seem to find my previous post.
I’m yet to receive my green card although I’d traveled to the States on the 27th of April this year, may I know where I can track its delivery status?
September 8, 2016 at 16:19
There is a system called “Elis”, but you could simply call USCIS.
September 8, 2016 at 13:52
hello
i won the dv lottery but i dont want to take my wife with me. is that possible?
if yes what should i do for her no to be able to tke the visa
September 8, 2016 at 16:20
Yes its possible. Don’t complete a DS260 for her and don’t take her to the interview.
September 8, 2016 at 17:03
can she come later after i finish every visa procedure? I mean after I go to interview and tke the visa, can she later go to emassy and take a visa? I am divorced but no officialy, thats why I dont want her to have any chance to get an us visa.
September 8, 2016 at 17:51
She needs you to process her case.
September 8, 2016 at 18:48
Ohh thaks God. And somnething else.. My son is 24 yoears old and he is married.. Is there any chnce to get him to US after I go there?
September 8, 2016 at 21:42
Not as an LPR. Once you are a citizen, yes, but it will take years.
September 8, 2016 at 13:51
Helo Brit;please i asked?
1 Can a child legally adopted months before an original dv entry/be denied a visa for that sake?
2 Can the said effect of the child influence the application of the rest of the family as they all played the dv and won as a family.
Thanks Brit
September 8, 2016 at 16:22
1. Possibly. Immigration law recognizes adopted children in some circumstances only after two years. I don’t know whether they will apply that law in a DV case.
2. No.
September 9, 2016 at 07:29
Thanks Simon.i am so worried about her.with my case should i schedule her for medicals or drop her?
As u understand better it could be better to loss a chance than 4 of the for the family.that is precautious?
Thanks
September 9, 2016 at 16:46
You must make those decisions for yourself. If it were me I would want to keep the family together – so I would take her to the medicals and interview.
September 8, 2016 at 13:36
Hi Brit.
Thanks for your effort. I have a little worry worry. I am a 2017 DV selectee and i played as married. My wife was selected for the DV2015 which she played as single while we were still married. She submitted her DS260 form as single, but was not scheduled for interview because her C.N was over AF86XXX. Now, my case number is AF40XXX will her past application affect the visa issuance of this new application?
September 8, 2016 at 16:23
It could possibly raise questions.
September 8, 2016 at 12:42
Hi everyone. Does anyone have an idea of the minimum KCSE grade required by the Nairobi Consulate for DV cases?? Their website states D- but I have read in a forum guys who had C- and were denied on the basis that they didn’t meet the academic qualifications.
September 8, 2016 at 16:27
Follow the website.
September 9, 2016 at 05:58
Thank you Brit and keep up the good work.
September 8, 2016 at 09:50

An interview is not a “right”. You were very unwise to miss your interview. They might re-schedule you – it’s up to them.
September 8, 2016 at 08:58

September 8, 2016 at 16:38
1. He might well be asked for evidence of support in Rwanda too and he will at least be asked about a host (which is a form of support). I would advise you to leave the advise giving to those that know the process.

2-will unlock my case delay my interview date?
Thanks in advance for your kind reply
September 8, 2016 at 06:16
Sorry I forgot to tell u I filled my ds260 in mid May2016
September 8, 2016 at 06:39
Scroll to the top of the page and look for the search icon (magnifying glass). Search for “unlock”. The first two articles address your questions! Please use the search and FAQ.
September 8, 2016 at 15:12
Hi Brit
Thanks for the reply .
I read it .it answered my 1st question.
My 2nd question was:
If I do the unlock now will my interview date be delayed knowing that my number is AF20*** and according to the older visa bulletin statistics my 2NL should be around March to May
Thanks
September 8, 2016 at 16:17
The TWO articles answered both questions.
