hello Mr. BritSimon
I am a 2021AS18xxx lottery winner .
My embassy is in Ankara, Turkey.
Despite the opening of the Ankara embassy again,
This embassy does not handle our case number, which is from Iran.
Should I change my embassy?
I do not have more than three months(30 Sep 2021). Does my request delay the possible interview?
Unfortunately KCC responds too late or sends Auto reply letters.
best regards.
June 28, 2021 at 21:30
I think you should be clear that you are at great risk.
First, there is no clear way to get rescheduled.
Second, they only seem to schedule cases that were documentarily qualified (ready for scheduling) as on MONTHS ago.
Third, Iranian applicants tend to need longer to process since additional background checks are often required, meaning you would run out of time.

DV2022
Hi brit Hope you are doing well. Quick question. Do you have any idea of where will cubans be schedule for interview? The embassy in havana remains closed. There’s a petition to open the naval base in Guantanamo for the parole process but nothing about dv. Cubans used to do interviews in Guyana, but now that country is demanding visa for cubans. The situation does not look good.
Thanks for your help
June 28, 2021 at 21:34
Yeah it is Guyana – but as you say it seems to be a catch22 for Cubans.
June 27, 2021 at 03:38
Yes,in reciprocity page of our US embassy nepal, also stated that if u r 16 years or older and visited others country for 1 year or more,u must submit the PCC, but for safe side i will make PCC of india and bring it to interview.
1) IS there any problem if i didnt submit PCC of india in ds 260 documents and bring it to interview.
Can i take it to interview, but if they only asked for that pcc then only i will show it them otherwise I’ll not show that pcc
2) My case no. 2021AS17** if mine embassy worked good do i have chance to get interview by the end of September, i fill my ds form in august and submitted documents in march first week and also got received mail after 6 days.
Thanks,
June 28, 2021 at 21:36
1. Read the reciprocity page for India.
2. Maybe. I can’t predict it any better than that.
June 27, 2021 at 03:41
Bcoz i my isreal PCC taken longer time to came that is why i submitted my docs after i get it.
June 27, 2021 at 08:40
Hello BRIT,
Thanks for all your guidance. I am winner of DV2021 as Family and we got our interview on 24th June. Our visas were approved but I had to do one additional test prior to the interview so we were told to come and deposit the results along with our passports for the visas to be printed out. My problem is I was told at the medical center the test will take two months to be out, hope I have time.
Thanks
June 28, 2021 at 21:39
Yes there is enough time.
June 27, 2021 at 09:55
Hi Brit, thank you so much for your Youtube channel which I belong to! its a wealth of information. I do have a specific question and I have looked through your website and FAQ’s but couldn’t see the answer. I have been selected for DV2022 and Im in Oceania region. My case number is XXXX125 of DV 2022. I live currently live in Sydney but born in New Zealand and also have British mother. I have AU, NZ and UK citizenship. I may be relocating to UK and wondered if I can change my interview place to being in London? rather than here in Sydney? is that possible OR NZ for interview.
Regards Fiona
June 28, 2021 at 21:40
You will interview where you live, so timing of your move will become important as your number is low.
June 29, 2021 at 06:23
So if I’m in UK in say two months time and then submit DS260 form would that then make it possible for me to have the interview in London? Would that work since I do have UK citizenship? or are you meaning if I submit DS260 now I could potentially have interview quite soon after 1st Oct 2021? is that the only option ie Sydney? Sorry I don’t quite follow. Thanks in advance. Regards Fiona
June 29, 2021 at 12:51
Forget citizenship.
It will take time to process the ds260, documents and then get scheduled, so October is already gone for you. So if you know you will be in the UK, give a UK address and you will be scheduled there.
June 29, 2021 at 23:41
Thanks so much! Really appreciate your reply and explanation! cheers Fiona
July 9, 2021 at 10:50
Following on from my earlier thread….My case number is XXXX125 of DV 2022. I meant to ask what is the closing time for me to submit my DS260…what’s the latest time I can submit it? is it Feb/March 2022? Im planning to submit before that but don’t want to miss out but also trying to time my interview. Appreciate your help. Kind regards Fiona
July 10, 2021 at 17:53
You can delay until then, yes. There is no precise cutoff date. However, watch the process carefully, in DV2021 people who submitted earlier gained an advantage and many people that delayed have lost out.
June 27, 2021 at 11:27
Hello Simon
MY case number is below 2500 from Asia. and i am 2022 DV winner and the problem is i have typed extra letter on my high school name. I typed TRINIITY instead of TRINITY. do i have to unlock for this issue. Please help me to get through this!
Thankyou for helping us out, i hope for your feedback soon!
June 28, 2021 at 21:42
No need to unlock for that trivial problem.
June 27, 2021 at 12:46
Hello Brit, I have a question regarding my interview which is on 1st July. I received an email from the US embassy??
“We have received your case for further processing, however we still require the following document(s) for your husband and your daughter . Please submit as soon as possible and let us know via email. Without the required documents your case cannot be processed to completion.
( + ) DS-260 As of September 01, 2013 the CEAC online immigrant visa application form DS-260should be submitted for each person applying for a visa, regardless of age. ”
Please if you can explain to me what exactly they need from me because I have already submitted my DS-260
Am in Germany, Thank you.
June 28, 2021 at 21:46
Each person in your family that wants a greencard needs their own DS260.
So – the embassy is asking you to submit a DS260 for your family members.
June 29, 2021 at 07:02
Wasn’t it KCC who had to send an RFS file to the embassy? Naomi Ngugi is maybe a “Goh plaintiff” ?
June 29, 2021 at 12:53
He simply did not add ds260s.
June 30, 2021 at 20:29
Hello Brit,
I am a winner of DV2021 and my case number is 2021AF30xxx.
I submitted my DS260 form last in September 2020 and have still not received any notification for y 2NL.
Should I expect something pretty soon or what can I do at the moment?
July 2, 2021 at 04:22
Did you submit documents and get a ready for scheduling email?
June 29, 2021 at 14:02
@Noumen I thought the same too. I emailed them my DS-260 form which my family is included in it too plus the confirmation page. When they say DS-260 for each family member it gets abit confusing because you only login with your case no. and there are no other options of filling another DS-260 except your own, where you add you family members.
Will take a copy with me just incase.
July 1, 2021 at 09:09
Naomi, There is an add option where you add your spouse and children and fill out a separate Ds260 for them
June 27, 2021 at 13:10
Do Hepatitis c cause visa denial?
June 28, 2021 at 21:45
There is a FAQ for that.
July 1, 2021 at 09:50
I’m not able to get that so I am asking you dear sir
July 2, 2021 at 04:27
I think you are being lazy – and that won’t help. The FAQ is linked on every page here. The search feature is there too.
July 3, 2021 at 01:17
Go to https://britsimonsays.com/dv-faq/ and look for this dropdown: What are the diseases that can cause denial
July 3, 2021 at 16:13
@Farid, I know you meant well, but I was trying to teach him to fish – meanwhile you just gave him a fish – so now he will expect more fish to be given.
June 27, 2021 at 14:22

Hello simon
I am a 2022 dv selectees from Nepal and already submitted my ds260.
Is it wise enough to apply for dv lottery 2023?
June 28, 2021 at 21:49
There is no harm in applying for the next lottery.
June 27, 2021 at 18:28
Hi simon
My wife and I filled out the same information. Am I currently filling out the DS-260 or my spouse and correcting our information

Hi simon

June 27, 2021 at 18:31
Hi Brit,
I just received the “your case number is now current for interview processing” email. I got the RFS in April and emailed them a month ago since Abu Dhabi is open. Man, I don’t know what to make of it, cuz this year is not normal. Goh Plaintiff EU12k
June 28, 2021 at 21:49
That’s good – see what happens.
June 27, 2021 at 19:01
Hi, Simon,
Thank you for your time. I have a question regarding to the parents name on birth certificate. The parents name on certificate is no longer used (mother has changed back yo maiden name, which father has changed his first name). Should I collect records to prove the names changes, because I filled their current names on DS-260 form?
Thank you.
June 28, 2021 at 01:03
Hi, Simon. I asked this question earlier this week. I just found out you answered it. My bad for repeating it again, my bad. Thank you very much.
June 28, 2021 at 21:50
Being over prepared with additional documents is a good thing.
June 27, 2021 at 19:48
Hi Simon
It scares me when somebody asks you about his/her chances of being interviewed and you answer : “… it depends on your embassy whether it’s accepting interviews or not” even if that person is plaintiff in a lawsuit.
Do you think the remaining silent embassies may still not accepting interviews even if the court hopefully came up with order?
BTW, could you tell plaintiffs’ lawers to argue strongly the point you made in your last video that why embassies don’t find a way to conduct interviews in a safe manner such as forcing the persons to be interviewed to abide by health instructions.
Why is the pandamic so difficult to overcome when it comes to US embassies I don’t know? Yes, the pandamic is very dangerous, but it’s not that dangerous if we adhere to strict health instructions.
June 28, 2021 at 21:51
A Judge cannot order an embassy to open if that embassy believes it is not safe.
The lawyers know the point I was making.
June 27, 2021 at 22:27
Hi mr. Simon,
My mother wins the DV2021, she is a low number around 300. She has the interview in Bogota Colombia and reading the Ceac Data until yesterday they only accepted 4 visa interviews (comparing others South America Embassy is a very low number). We are approaching July, and we has chance until 30th September.
1- In that situation you think that may we need to contact a lawyer to represent her and tried to call KCC to ask what is the status right now of the visa case of my mother?. She already has the email “Congratulations! Our records indicate that your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview”
June 28, 2021 at 21:53
She can do that if she wishes. I can’t be sure she will get an interview.
June 28, 2021 at 01:00
Dear Britt,
In form DS-260, which must be answered in the question:
Have you ever served in the military?
if you have graduated from the military university but have already retired from your duties
June 28, 2021 at 21:53
Use your own judgement.
June 28, 2021 at 03:19
Hi simon,
I hope you are doing well.
I have got a question. One of my friends, he had entered dv in 2021 and had chosen that he graduated from high school but in fact, he wasn’t and he did not win, but he again entered for 2022 and this time he won the DV and he is graduated and meets all the requirements. My question is the mistake he made for dv lottery 2021 will affect his new case 2022?
June 28, 2021 at 21:53
No
June 28, 2021 at 03:50
Hi Brit,
I am Dv 2020 winner,
waiting for interview,
is I-134 form how long valid?
June 28, 2021 at 21:54
It should be obtained in the last weeks leading up to the interview.
June 28, 2021 at 04:53
Hi Simon!
2022EU13***
I submitted DS260 for my 2 kids a month ago, but I didn’t do that, but I haven’t done it for myself and my wife yet. Will there be any problems due to I haven’t submitted all them together on the same day? I haven’t find any rules for this situation.
Thanks for your job!
June 28, 2021 at 21:55
No problem.
June 28, 2021 at 16:01
Hey simon
Can i know what does that indicate?can i expect 2nl or it’s meaningless ?
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.
June 28, 2021 at 21:56
As explained in the FAQ it normally means you would get a 2NL very shortly. However, at this time it means they are trying to schedule you, but that is not certain yet.
June 28, 2021 at 16:46
Hey Simon,
My girlfriend just arrived in USA with her family, her father was 2021 selectee. Immigrant officer at the airport told them that they can wait for GC up to 6 months because of situation with covid. She bought a ticket with return date in August, if she doesnt get her GC before she left USA, can I still marry her and apply for my GC as her husband?
June 28, 2021 at 21:57
Not immediately. She would need to sponsor you for a GC through a family based process which takes around 2 years.
June 28, 2021 at 23:09
So what are we suppose to do? I am not expecting to get a GC immediately, just want to start that process as soon as possible.. Are we even able to start that whole process after marriage?
June 29, 2021 at 04:31
You will need to look into the family based process. I don’t advise people about that.
June 28, 2021 at 17:10
Hello Brit,
CEAC website says Issued for PRS 01 which is my husband. It says Ready for me, PRS 02. Is it normal or they are taking time to review my documents.
To update, PRS 01 went from ready to refused to AP to Issued while PRS 02 never changed.
Thanks !!
June 28, 2021 at 21:58
Normal.
Patience.
June 29, 2021 at 05:10
Normal as in they’ll process my visa separately or it has been issued?
June 29, 2021 at 12:47
Patience.
June 28, 2021 at 18:03
good day!
thanks for your time! I would like to know your expert opinion. In the application for participation in DV2021, I have two errors: the date of birth of my husband on March 31 – indicated March 30, and the name and surname of my son are mixed up. How high is the probability of a consul’s refusal to obtain a visa?
I would be grateful for the answer
June 28, 2021 at 21:58
That would normally be OK – because you would have corrected it in the DS260.
June 28, 2021 at 22:07
Hi brit
I am from nepal, currently in Australia i am 2022 winner cn 7***.
My interview location is sydney.does location impacts on getting visa?
And for eg all the cn are current now is it possible for me to get 2nl and interview scheduled before other low case number who are interviewing from nepal? Or do i have to wait until all the cn below me gets their interview scheduled.
Thank you
June 29, 2021 at 04:34
Your case readiness will be based on Asia (and probably Nepal). Not Australia.
June 28, 2021 at 22:36
Hi Simon,
I am a Goh plaintiff, and I sent my documents to the KCC almost 6 months ago (no confirmation yet). I have two questions:
1) I sent a police certificate for a country that I have not travelled to in the past two years, and it expires in the end of August. I have renewed the certificate, but I’m not sure if I should send it to the KCC now? Do you think it would be better for me to wait for the outcome of the Goh hearing and send it if they ask me for it or just send it now instead?
2) My wife and I are supposed to have an interview in Montreal, but I believe that consulate did a livestream in which they said that they would not be taking any DV cases this year. Charles claimed that they won’t be able to refuse us if judge Mehta rules in our favour, but I was wondering if I should attempt to move our case to a different consulate instead. My wife was born in Japan (doesn’t have the passport anymore though), so I was thinking if we should try going there?
Thank you
June 29, 2021 at 04:33
1. Police certs are now considered valid up to two years old.
2. You must decide what is best for you.
June 28, 2021 at 22:52
Dear sir
I got my visa dv 21 on June
My question is about the immigration office at the airport
On the ds260 a give an address
But I want to go to another state then montioned in ds 260
Because another friend saw that I received the visa so he invited me to the other state.
What shall I do? Go directly to the new state or to the state montioned in Ds 260.
Shall I go to the same state and same person mentioned in ds 260?
If I change the state at the port of entry, does that mean I’ll have problem with CBP?
Thank you so much
June 29, 2021 at 04:31
Fly anywhere, live anywhere.
June 29, 2021 at 03:51
I will have my medical exam next month and I know that I did not have all the immigration vaccines required yet. However, I had my first covid vaccine 2 weeks ago and staff at the medical center said they will not give vaccine to someone after one has the covid vaccine in such a short time earlier.
My question is:
1. What will happen at the interview if my medical report show incomplete vaccine requirement?
2. Will a medical report with a incomplete vaccine remark be the cause for case refusal or AP?
3. If under AP, will the September 30 deadline kill my case if I still have not completed all the vaccines required?
June 29, 2021 at 04:35
1. At the medical the physician will administer any required vaccinations.
2. If you refused required vaccinations, that would stop you getting the visa.
3. The deadline is a deadline, yes.
June 29, 2021 at 05:40
Hi brit, what can I do if my sponsor address is changed from what I fill in ds260?
June 29, 2021 at 12:48
Update at the interview.
June 29, 2021 at 05:49
Dear Simon,
I received an email from KCC previous week as below :
“ Your case number is now current for interview processing . Once the interview is scheduled you will get an email etc etc “
My question is : What are the chances to get an inyerview date and when approximately ?
I am DV2021 winner.
Case number 75xx
Thanj you
June 29, 2021 at 12:48
I can’t predict the chances.
June 29, 2021 at 09:19
Hi brit
I am DV 2022 winner CN 2022AF10k. I have 2 questions
1. My passport expires Sep 2022 do i need to renew my passport
2. I am single so do i need to submit documents for kcc via email
June 29, 2021 at 12:54
1. No
2. Yes
June 29, 2021 at 09:39
Hi Brit,
Can you maybe speculate why the visa bulletin for august is late? Maybe a regression of numbers?
Many thanks,
June 29, 2021 at 12:56
It was published, nothing of interest
June 29, 2021 at 12:06
Hello again Brit, updating you and anymore individuals wanting information for Sydney (OC 2021).
As my last post mentioned we have gone into lock-down and interviews were cancelled. I have more bad news:
During my medical Today, I was informed by the doctors that in August the US consulate general is moving from its current location to North Sydney and during this time they may not be processing any interviews at all. This has been over 2 years in the making. Anyone in Australia you can Google: “The Sydney US consulate general moves to North Sydney after major lease”
Looks like Sydney is in for a string of bad luck and anyone not yet scheduled is at risk of not being interviewed. I am unsure what that means to 2nls for August.
I will keep you in the loop for any information I hear.
June 29, 2021 at 13:03
I would not assume that the doctor is aware of what impacts there would be from the move.
June 30, 2021 at 07:22
oh geez… its like a game of snakes and ladders… you finally feel like you’re getting somewhere… then down we slide… haha
June 29, 2021 at 12:43
hello Brit..All my educational documents and birth certificates are laminated..Will this be a problem at the interview,my interview is next week.thanks
June 29, 2021 at 12:59
The reaction to that varies by embassy.
June 29, 2021 at 12:57
Hi simon
My wife and I filled out the same information. Am I currently filling out the DS-260 or my spouse and correcting our information
June 29, 2021 at 15:13
Hello Britmon, I am a winner of the dv2020, they never sent me on the day of the interview because the covid arrived and I stayed in the part where they processed my case at the KCC and I lost my opportunity completely or I should do something. my case number is not so high greetings
June 29, 2021 at 15:38
In a normal year your chance would have been lost. However, there us a lawsuit ongoing that might give you a chance. I suggest you pay close attention to this blog over the coming weeks.
June 29, 2021 at 17:27
Thank you Brit for everything. My wife and i, we got our visas today from the embassy. thank you for everything. 2021AF3K from ivory coast.

Hi simon
My wife and I filled out the same information. Am I currently filling out the DS-260 or my spouse and correcting our information
June 29, 2021 at 18:41
Hi Brit
I listed only university degree in ds 260 is it ok?
July 2, 2021 at 04:00
You should have listed all education from around age 12. If you are DV2022, unlock and correct it.
June 29, 2021 at 21:10
HELLO BRIT,
I hope everything is fine with you. I am still in dilemma about DV 2020. My case number is 2020AS26xx.
Is there any chance to be held interview.
Thank you for information in advance.
July 2, 2021 at 04:01
You simply have to wait for the decision of the Judge.
June 29, 2021 at 21:39
Hi Brit,
I hope you are well.
I am a DV 2021 winner from Ghana with a case number 63XXX. I sent my documents to KCC some months ago. I just saw on the savediversityvisa.org site that the embassy in Ghana is now working on the DV cases. About 46 cases are Ready. Please what does Ready mean in DV visa terms. Also is there anything I can do to ensure the embassy schedules my application.
Thank you.
July 2, 2021 at 04:02
Ready is shown when the interview is scheduled. Your case number is very high, so it is unlikely they will get to your case.
June 29, 2021 at 22:20
Hello Brit,
Hope you doing great!
I am a winner of DV2021 with a case number 2021AF30xxx. I have duly submitted my DS260 in September 2020. I have still not received any feedback from KCC.
What should I do? Do I have a chance of receiving my 2NL anytime soon?
Thank you.
July 2, 2021 at 04:02
You could ask if they are satisfied with your documents, but honestly very few cases will get interviews.
June 30, 2021 at 01:42
Hello, Britsimon. We need your advice.
I have Cuban friends, they are a couple, both are Mexican Residents. The husband has been living in Mexico for 2.5 years, while the wife around 2 years. Their case number is SA9XX, the wife is the main selectee and got interview on April 15th, 2021 at US embassy in Mexico.
During the interview the CO is interested that the wife went to Venezuela on a medical mission, also interested that the husband had traveled to Russia as a tourist. The CO also asked to the husband to explain about his job as a Telecommunications Engineer.
The CO said their visa was approved, but due to problem in their system, they could not issue but they will send it to them by DHL. But the day after interview, US embassy sent them an email to ask them to fill up DS-5535 form and mentioned that they have to fill it up completely every aspect that being asked and also should only fill in what they had not put in their DS-260. They couple with the happiness that their visa was approved in the interview, so they believed that to fill up DS-5535 only for formality.
But days later, in the website of CEAC, ONE of their status was changed from READY to REFUSED, so they sent email to US Embassy in Mexico to ask about, and after that BOTH of their status became REFUSED, that was April 28th, 2021 (13 days after their interview)
June 7th, 2021 they decided to appear to US Embassy to ask personally what happened with their case, and explained verbally that their case was in AP (the couple did not manage to enter to US Embassy)
After that, nothing has changed in the CEAC website, REFUSED.
June 22nd, 2021 they received a letter from US Embassy stating that they are ineligible because their application is incomplete and put them into AP and as soon as they (US Embassy) determined, US Embassy was going to notify them by DHL. Both of them were thinking it was because of what they explained in DS-5535 was incorrectly filled out. So they send it again with all the details answers.
The questions are:
1. What is your suggestion for this couple for them to do? Their passports are still in US Embassy
2. To be asked to fill up DS-5535, is it a bad sign? If they will be able to get their visas before Sep 30th, 2021?
3. Is it advisable for them to get lawyer assistance?
4. How long will it take the Ds5535 to be solved?
Thank you, Simon.

1. They just have to wait for the AP to conclude.
2. No it is not a bad sign. Obviously I don’t know if they will get their visa.
3. No
4. There is no typical time.

Hi simon,
Thanks for giving us your time.
I am one of the green card 2022 winners from Afghanistan with the case number below than 2000 and my question is that I chose Kabul embassy for my interview while the embassy is not working and even if it starts working, their first priority will be given to siv cases so what do you think, Is it a good idea to change the location of my interview or not. I know it hard to answer now but please give me some advice.
And this is a question from a friend of mine that when someone wins dv and enters the USA get the green card. Will they be given passport after 5 or 6 years or they will be only given green card?
Thank you,

Kabul probably won’t reopen anytime soon. So – if you can change embassies, that would probably be the best shot.
A greencard holder can apply for citizenship after 5 years.

Hi Brits, I am DV Lottery winner 2022, the passport that I used to apply is the one which is going to expire in December this year 2021, but before it expires I rennewed the passport which is going to expire in 2030, however I got married after and now I got my husbands surname, must I get a new passaport with my husband surname to fill up the DS260? Or I can use the valid passport that I have now and then wait for it to expire to get a new passaport with updated surname, hopefully already in USA? Is there any problems?

It would probably be better to change your passport to your new name.

Hi Simon!
I’m a DV winner. CN 2022AF49xxx.
I had a plan to marry in 2020 but the pandemic hindered everything. As a result, I decided to get married on June 2022.
However, given the current DV opportunity, I want to get married earlier (Dec 2021) so that I can fill the ds260 form as married and register my wife as well.
I see the below 2 scenarios for safe application process:
1) I make use of the opportunity and get married on Dec 2021, list my wife in the form and both move to USA together.
2) Stay single, keep the original marriage schedule as is. I process my visa as “Single” and then once in USA initiate the visa process for my spouse, which will take around 2 years until issued.
If this was your case, which option would you take?

Hi, Abeomer,
DV2021 here. I was on the same situation as you. My advise is to get married (if you can) before December and submit DS-260 for both as soon as possible. No one knows what will happen with DV2022, but the idea is to get your DS-260/ documents processed early on.
But when it comes to choose between 1 or 2 thats up to you.

Hi Don,
Thanks for your advice!
Did you already go to USA? I hope all went well.
If so, what was your interview experience, especially on your marital status change.
Regards

Hello Brit little clarification on the dv photo. During your entry, will your photo if not taken well be accepted but later if you are selected affect you during the interview or it will not be accepted(disqualified) at all during the interview if it doesn’t meet requirements.

Refusal for photos at interview is EXTREMELY rare.

Hi Brit Simon. My wife is 2022 DV selectee. At initial entry we entered unmarried because we were not legally married but included our 5 year old daughter. We however had our civil marriage in February before DV results announcement. Can she add me on her application.
