Hi Simon,
My cn is 2023AS15XXX and submitted ds260 in early May. I have not received the 2nl eventhough my cn is current for the month of February. When I submitted ds260 I failed to provide social media information. May this cause delay in getting 2nl or denial at the visa interview? Please explain.
Thank you.
January 21, 2023 at 08:57
The SM won’t have delayed things, but you can’t be scheduled until your case is processed, and the embassy has capacity.
January 26, 2023 at 21:11
Hi Simon
I am a dv winer 2023AF34xxx.
I have submitted my ds260 on late August and my case is current on February but I haven’t received my 2nl yet. How much time does it take to be processed and get 2nl. My second question is I want to change my name on my green card and my documents for it is long if by God’s grace I am approved, to whom should I report these matter. Do I need a court approval or I can change to any name format I want.
January 28, 2023 at 22:57
The time to process varies – be patient.
As for the name change, discuss that at the interview.
January 28, 2023 at 14:12
Hi Brit Simon,
I don’t know how this happened, but I have just discovered that I have not filled out travel history in DS 260. My form has been already submitted. I need to unlock it now and add the info. Do you think this will cause a huge delay with scheduling the interview?
Thanks in advance.
January 28, 2023 at 19:53
I need to add that my DS has not been processed yet, but the CN was current in December, AF14xxx. Is this glitch with missing travel history something that can be resolved without causing more delay and ensure getting 2NL soon? Thank you in advance!
January 28, 2023 at 23:01
I would personally unlock and correct.
January 22, 2023 at 00:12
simon please help last time
1- i chose married but to US spouse he isnot
when i first asked you i learned this from you so
in 2024 i tried to make the same mistake again to see if the spouse will be included or not and i found out the spouse isn’t included if i choose the third opition {married to us spouse )
now what ?? do you think it would be a good idea to go for the interview alone ( only one fees ) without even having the medical tests done
and tell the officer consular my husband and the kids will go the interview later ? and in this case if i get refused (i wont lose much money ) what do you think ???? is there still any hope ?
or its better not go for the interview
January 23, 2023 at 18:30
Why do you keep asking the question I have already answered?
If your spouse was not listed on the original entry, then disqualification is certain.
January 22, 2023 at 07:05
Hi dear simon, i have a question:
If I go to the AP process, will the assigned visa number remain reserved for me? or is a possibility that even though my background check won’t have any problem , the visas will reach their limit and the visa will not be assigned to me?
January 23, 2023 at 18:30
The visa is not held for you.
January 22, 2023 at 07:44
Hello,
My sister filled I-130 for our mum and her case is biening process in POTOMAC.
She filled also for me as sibling and my case has been sent in CALIFORNIA.
Knowing she did not change adress why this difference?
January 23, 2023 at 18:31
I dont know. I only answer dv lottery questions.
January 22, 2023 at 10:44
Hello simon,
When I downloaded and checked the excel file of 2022 CEAC data from the link in your video description I noticed that some cases didn’t changed their status from ‘at NVC’ to an embassy at all.
So simon can this happen to us too?
And what are the chances this can happen?
January 23, 2023 at 18:34
This will happen to many cases. Some cases won’t proceed but even after those some cases will miss out because 119000 selected can’t fit into 55000 visas.
January 22, 2023 at 12:44
Hi Brit, how are you? I hope you will inform us any new information about dv 2020 and 2021. As you know we are waiting the government’s decision for both years dv winners. please say only a sentence recent. thank you.

Still waiting for the outcome of the appeal.

Hello Sir,
I am a DV 2020 winner and i received my green card in December 2022 and soon after that i had to return back to my home country to settle everything with my work and properties here to permanently go back to US. So is it fine if stay in my home country for at least 5 months to settle everything, will i face any issue going back to US since am away for 5 months.
Thank you
January 23, 2023 at 18:36
No problem.
January 22, 2023 at 18:50
Hi Simon,
While reviewing on Paris US Embassy website the checklist for the documents required for the interview, I don’t see a request for a bank statement.
Isn’t mandatory ?
If we have to provide evidence of sufficient funds for a family of 4 people do they accept savings account statements or only checking account ? and what would be the minimum acceptable for a family of 4 ?
Thanks for your assistance
January 23, 2023 at 18:37
They might ask about finances, and in that case, around 10k per person is good.
January 23, 2023 at 02:11
Hi Brit,
Now that I received my 2NL. I wanted to schedule my biometric appointment at the allocated VAC. For that I am asked to choose visa category. For DV selectees our visa category is DV1 right??
January 23, 2023 at 18:41
Just DV
January 24, 2023 at 03:11
Hello Brit,
When i registered under Mumbai Consulate i didnt get any option just as DV it has option as DV1 – Diversity Immigrant. So should i chose DV1.
January 24, 2023 at 12:11
Yes
January 23, 2023 at 02:15
Anyone in this Forum who is winner of DV 2023 from BHUTAN?? So that we can discuss for the upcoming interviews and paperwork.
January 23, 2023 at 05:21
Hi dear Simon,
If 15,000 case numbers are active now, and in February for March there will already be 26,000, in March can they call for an interview up to 15,000, or will they call specifically from 15,000 to 26,000? I know people who have number 6000 but haven’t called yet
January 23, 2023 at 18:42
All cases under 26000 can be interviewed.
January 23, 2023 at 05:23
it’s about EU
January 23, 2023 at 05:45
Hi Brits, thanks for your immense support to us as dv applicant,my question is when should an applicant fill D260?is it when your case is current /i can even fill immediately after confirming iam selected? Thanks for your response and may God bless you.
January 23, 2023 at 18:42
When selected. People started submitting in May.
January 23, 2023 at 11:40
Hello Simon, thank you for all the amazing work you’re doing to help us!
We’re a family of four (2 minor kids) and we’re currently waiting for the DV2024 results. In the meantime we just received tourist visas and we were thinking of visiting the US this summer.
Do you think this could be an issue in case we’re selected to continue the DV process in May?
Also, does it make a difference if we submit the DS260 before or after our visit?
I know I’m overthinking a bit, but I don’t want to make a mess :).
Thank you!
January 23, 2023 at 18:44
Your chance of winning is 1 in 100 years, so planning is a waste of time.
But yes, no problem travelling.
January 24, 2023 at 02:19
Hi Dear Brit
My case number is AS13*** Ds-260 submitted in may, interview location is Islamabad Pakistan,
I did an inquiry through KCC they replied,
Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check,
I’m concerned about embassy performance ! Will they make an interview appointment slot available for me ? Do I need kabul Reassignment procedure
January 24, 2023 at 12:13
I can’t predict what they will do.
January 24, 2023 at 02:30
Dear Brit,
I posted 2 comments recently about sponsorship. But I am unable to find my post and response from yours. Will you be able to assist me?
My question was;
I am a DV 2020 winner. I need to know if the same person can sponsor 2 people in a same year. ( My sponsor’s annual income is 300000 USD, his family is of 4 member, my family 3 and the other winner is single one)
Awaiting your feedback.
Thanks!
January 24, 2023 at 12:12
That would technically be ok. I personally would prefer to avoid the possible complications.
January 24, 2023 at 08:40
Hi BritSimon,
After watching your videos I have been checking the xarthisius ceac site and downloaded the raw data file. I am AS 4K and have not received 2NL yet. My CEAC status is still at NVC. In the excel, my status is shown as ‘NVC’ and for submit date and status date etc all fields are stamped as ‘none’. And there are some other entries with even the status field as ‘None’.
1. What is the submit date and status date?
2. And what is the difference between 2 case numbers with status ‘NVC’ and status ‘None’
3. Does status ‘NVC’ mean DS 260 is submitted?
Thanks so much for your work
January 24, 2023 at 12:11
1. Submit date is when you entered the lottery. Status is last time you file was touched.
2. None means a hole. Read the basic questions.
3. No. All cases state at nvc.
January 24, 2023 at 23:36
Thanks, and please pardon my ignorance. I have missed the interpretations even though I read through most of the information. Since my case is flagged as ‘NVC’ and not having a submit date and a status date. What does that mean?
1. If submit date is the date I entered the lottery, why is it not there? (Is it populated at a later time?)
2. I have submitted my DS260 and made changes too. So why is my status date also ‘None’?
3. My status is set as NVC and with all others stamped as None, this does not mean any issue with the DS260 submission, right?
I hope you bear with me this time and clarify this for me. Thank you so much for your wonderful service
January 28, 2023 at 12:31
1. Not shown until scheduled (but why are you worry about trivia?).
2. See 1.
3. No
Read the basic questions – these are very fundamental.
January 28, 2023 at 19:14
Thank you for clearing the doubts, BritSimon
January 24, 2023 at 12:21
Hi Brit
This is shawn DV21 from Ghana.
My brother who is DV23 with case no AF24*** from Ghana submitted his DS260 on 1st July 2022 and still hasn’t received his 2NL yet.Must he be worried or wait patiently.
Thanks Simon
January 24, 2023 at 13:15
Being worried won’t speed up the 2nl. So waiting is all he can do.
January 24, 2023 at 16:53
I’m one of the failed DV2020 winners, but lucky DV2023 winners.
EU9k for 2023, with DS 260 sent in October.
In the 2020 the process was:
1a. Sending the DS 260 [then, receiving confirmation and guides for preparing docs]
2a. Sending scanned documents [then, receiving confirmation that documents are fine]
— the case for me ended here…
3a. Receiving 2NL and appointment for interview in the embassy.
As i am aware now, the process in 2023 is (*questions):
1b. Sending DS 260 (*They send confirmation email and what are next steps or this is skipped?)
— my case is currently here…
2b. Receiving 2NL with appointment for interview (*That means the documents need to be prepared same way, with translations, but taken only for the interview?)
January 28, 2023 at 12:27
1b. Just wait for the 2NL. I’m surprised you waited until October to submit.
2b. Correct.
January 24, 2023 at 17:24
Hello Brit,
Please I have 3 worries. A friend and her daughter won the DV lottery 2023 and have been scheduled for an interview in March which when confirming the appointment, a page said add applicant.
1) is applicant refered to the principal person only?
2) Must the father be informed and does the embassy needs any document from the father of the child?
3) is Affidavit necessary from the Host in the United State?
Thank you
January 28, 2023 at 12:29
1. It depends on the context, which you have not given.
2. The embassy might ask for proof that the selectee has full custody of the child.
3. An I-134 might be needed – it varies by case.
January 25, 2023 at 00:50
Hello Mr simon,
I’m from Sri Lanka.Last year(2022 dv) there were around1500 winners. 296 were processed if I remember correctly. But it included the highest numbers such as 30K. So I would like to know whether it was because cases became current or there were very few correctly submitted DS260s? I really would like your input on this.
January 28, 2023 at 12:32
Last year was exceptional, so don’t overthink it.
January 30, 2023 at 08:43
Thank you sir. I feel like most of us from SL are going to miss out this time based on the xarthisius website. Is it true that Visas are filling out too quickly this time compared to other normal years?
February 3, 2023 at 13:26
No
January 25, 2023 at 03:18
Hi Brit,
As mentioned in my earlier post I have been scheduled at Mumbai Consulate on 17th March 2023 but for some personal reason Its very unlikely that I will make it on the date as for whole March month there is no way I will be granted leave from my company.
1- Are there any ways I can request to post-pond my interview in May month.
2- whom should I mail requesting to post-pond the date.
3- Will the affect my chance of getting green-card.
Regards.
January 28, 2023 at 13:21
1. Ask the embassy.
2. See 1
3. It adds risk of course.
January 25, 2023 at 12:33
Hi BritSimon
You might remember my name as I was successful in DV 2022 OC. Thanks again for your help. I have a situation. Firstly
* I’m an Australian Citizen as I was born and raised in Australia
* I was awarded my Diversity Visa on 18 July 2022.
* I entered the US- Los Angeles on 28 December 2022.
* I received my Social Security Number about a week after I arrived.
* I should be receiving my PR Card ( Green Card) by tomorrow.
I just learned a few days ago that my mother who is living in Brisbane was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. As a result I will be flying over there soon to spend time and help her out. I am not sure how long I will spend, though wanted to know by what is the latest date I would need to return to the US by before my Diversity Visa (Permanent Residency) becomes void. From what I gather and a friend of mine told me I would need to enter the US by 27 December 2023.
I know there is the option of reentry permit though do not want to go through that route due to the cost and I believe it takes a couple of months to get approved and I would have to wait in the US for it to get approved which I don’t want to do as I was looking to fly out to Australia as soon as my Greencard comes through which according to USCIS should arrive by tomorrow.
At some point I want to return to the US so I can start my life hence why I sought out the diversity visa in the first place though it’s important to me to spend time with my mother whilst she endures this illness. If you can advise me on this or refer me to the correct authorities/people that would be much appreciated.
Shezza
January 28, 2023 at 13:23
The 12 month period of absence will start when you leave the USA. It has nothing to do with your original entry date.
January 25, 2023 at 13:04
Hello, thanks to all your advices everything was ok and I activated my LPR on July 17th 2022 so thank you ! I came back to France one week later on July 26th, and my friend has now received my GC in New York.
You said that we can stay outside the USA up to 12 months for the first absence so I would have to come back before July 26th 2023. The problem is I would need 2 more months to finish my internship before moving. Do you think it’s possible to come to the US for just 1 week for exemple in June, and then come back at the end of September ? And would it be better to go to New York for this week, where I declared my address, or I can go anywhere in the US ? Thank you !!
January 28, 2023 at 13:24
Yes come and enter earlier, and come wherever you like. For the next re-entry try and keep that under 6 months absence.
February 11, 2023 at 18:18
Ok thank you. 2 more questions…
1. Do you think it’s better to enter just with the visa on the passport or to ask my friend to send me the green card before and use it for this time ?
2. At the customs when they will ask the purpose of my trip, what should I say ? Holiday ? Or coming back to the US even if it’s for just one week this time, as I am a LPR ?
February 12, 2023 at 13:45
1. No difference.
2. It’s not a trip – you are returning home.
February 12, 2023 at 16:24
Ok so I’m returning home even if I haven’t move yet ? You said I can come wherever I like, but if they ask where I live what should I say ? I never changed the address I gave to receive my GC in NYC.
February 13, 2023 at 13:10
The greencard is not a visitors visa. So the question of “what is the purpose of the visit” doesn’t make sense – and therefore won’t be asked.
January 26, 2023 at 00:05
Dear Brit,
Question 1 – Once we stamp the green card, what is the maximum amount of time we can be away from USA to wrap up things at home and permanently go to the USA? Question 2 – We would like to consider an 18 month period to wrap up work and other things – is this too long?
January 28, 2023 at 13:25
without prior permission, 12 months.
January 26, 2023 at 00:32
Hello Brit., I am from Ethiopia selected as dv 2020 winner but still waiting for the judge final decision. However, I received a call from US Embassy, Addis Ababa and told me to collect our (mine and my wife) passports as dv20 cases are already over. They had returned our daughter’s passport two or more months ago. We are really confused. Is there any thing new? Does it mean it is all over? Will they recall us if the court’s outcome is positive? Thank you for your support.
January 28, 2023 at 19:41
It is perfectly normal that they would do that, but it means nothing about the appeal.
January 30, 2023 at 23:06
Thank you!
January 26, 2023 at 01:12
Dear Brit,
I m a 2023 US DV Lottery Winner. My CN went current in January and I have my interview in March. My son has turned 21 years of age in November 2022. Question 1 – Can you please let me know how I can use the Child Status Protection Act to support my case to have his Green Card approved? Question 2 – Also I cannot locate the link you have with information in this regard can you please share? Question 3 – Do I need to carry a memo of sorts with the calculations done to show the Visa officer? Thanks ever so much!

Hi Simon ,
Thank you for the various videos that you have shared with us abt the Dv lottery.
i just wanted to know can you help / advise on other forms of migration to the US.
Thanks once again.

January 28, 2023 at 19:41
No, I only advise on DV.
January 26, 2023 at 07:39
Hello dear Brit , I hope you are doing well.
I’m dv 2021 from Iraq and I’m in Goh case.
Do you think we might have a chance to get an interview if we won ?
January 28, 2023 at 19:43
Maybe.
January 26, 2023 at 07:42
hello can you please help me how to contact KCC ti inquiry submitting DS-260? my case nr is 18xxx
January 28, 2023 at 19:43
That is in the FAQ.
January 26, 2023 at 13:41
Hello Brit, I salute you!
Case number: 2023AF13K. Embassy location is Accra. Submitted DS 260 on 8th June. On 14th November, I learnt from KCC that my ds is processed. On November 27th, I also learnt from KCC that I am current for interview processing. However, I have not gotten my 2NL yet. Some 16ks and even 19k has gotten 2nls.
1. Could it be that AV queue has built up at the Accra embassy?
2. How did higher case numbers got 2nl before me even though my ds 260 was processed before I went current in the visa bulletin?
3. Is there a genuine reason to be concerned about not getting 2NL till end of the fiscal year?
Thank you for your time and attention.
January 26, 2023 at 13:58
Same situation as mine. Only difference is that the higher cases have not gotten 2NLS yet. I can know on tomorrow with Xhathuias’s data.Im guessing that the embassy is doing a shitty job. Ignoring that we are in the AV q and doing nothing about it. My embassy took around 40 cases where we have more that 1000 cases is pathetic. Many of us are going to miss out.
January 28, 2023 at 19:44
1. Yes
2. Because they were processed before you.
3. At Accra there are many concerns.
January 27, 2023 at 03:01
Dear Brit Simon,
First of all, thank you for your hard work. It is very useful for each, who won the DV program.
I am a winner of DV2023. I have faced some technical errors in the ceac.state.gov website. I couldn’t resubmit the DS260 application after filling out the information. On November 28, we had an interview scheduled at the U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan. Due to our application still being unsubmitted, the Embassy would not accept us and said they were working on the error. At the same time, they do not guarantee that they will be able to solve this problem before the end of the fiscal year.
In addition, I found information in your FAQ in the chapter “Can’t access DS260 – Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number” that the Embassy could give a passcode, and via this passcode, the KCC might help us to log into DS forms. Here is a link https://web.archive.org/web/20210228122236/https://britsimonsays.com/dv-faq/
Have you worked with a similar case before? Could you provide advice for us how to deal with it?
January 28, 2023 at 22:57
You should discuss this with the embassy.
January 27, 2023 at 05:27
Hello Sir. Have a good day. I am a dv lottery winner 2023. If my US sponsor Annual income is enough to support me financially according to the US poverty guidelines, should my sponsor provide information about his assets details in I-134 form?
January 28, 2023 at 22:58
Yes
January 27, 2023 at 05:28
Hello Brit. Can my sponsor use blue pen to fill I-134 form?
January 28, 2023 at 22:59
What does it say on the form?
January 27, 2023 at 20:19
Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to change the country of my interview, I am the winner of the 2023 diversity visa program, today they notified me of my appointment but I do not understand why they send me to Guyana if I live in Cuba and the United States embassy is already there Processing these cases, last week they gave approximately 150 appointments for Havana and only mine for Guyana according to data from the members of the group of telegram winners, Thank you
January 28, 2023 at 23:00
I don’t know why they did that.
January 28, 2023 at 10:49
Hello Brit , Goodmorning
I sponser my father and mother for tourist visa whose interview is in March 2023, and one of my friend family of four got dv lottery can I sponser them also whose interview is in February 2023 is there any problem for sponser two family is same time?
January 28, 2023 at 23:00
It’s not ideal – it can create an additional complication/risk.
January 28, 2023 at 19:03
Hi Simon,
I am a French national and my interview is scheduled in March at Paris, France.
Since I have been living and working in the US for 6 years now and before that in France, do I have to get a police clearance certificate from the US or France or both countries ?
Thanks for your assistance,
January 28, 2023 at 23:02
France yes, USA, no.
January 28, 2023 at 20:09
Hello brit
23af6*** submitted ds in Sept, current since dec but still not processed,no 2 NL
Any idea how Johannesburg embassy doing so far?
January 28, 2023 at 23:02
They are doing good.
January 29, 2023 at 02:39
Dear Simon,
I am distraught. We finally got our interview date in Singapore for 1st March 2023. However the appointed medical clinic has been closed since December. We wrote to the embassy and this is what we were told.
“Unfortunately, there are no panel clinics available currently. We will contact you once we have appointed our new panel clinics. We will still require applicants to have a clear medical examination before they come for their visa interview. We do not accept medical examinations performed by panel clinics outside Singapore. If your visa appointment has been scheduled and the medical report is not available on the Thursday before the visa appointment date, you may consider your appointment to be cancelled. Please contact us two weeks after you have completed your medical examination.”
So our appointment will most likely be cancelled! What do we do? Do we write to KCC? Please share if you have any suggestions.
Most grateful. Thanks.
February 3, 2023 at 13:22
KCC can’t help. You must work with the panel physician and embassy to work out what to do. In past cases the embassies have allowed the interview to go ahead, but the case is on hold (AP) until the medical report is available. But it sounds like they are very strict about that, so do what you can to get a medical appointment.
January 29, 2023 at 19:59
Hello Brit !
2023EU6*** DS260 submitted in august, processed (email to KCC) current since january, but no 2NL.
Any idea how Montreal embassy doing so far?
January 29, 2023 at 20:19
Plus, what does « submit date » means in the DV 2023 raw Ceac Data ? Does it talk about DS260?

No – look at the dates – it is the DV lottery entry period.

They have scheduled cases that went current for March – so they don’t have a backlog.

Hi Brit,
I have my DV23 interview in March and I am about to obtain the citizenship of another country in April. First entry to the US to become an LPR will be in Jun. Do you see any potential problems caused by this new citizenship?
Thank you for your help!

Hello semon,
Please I need your advice, my CN is behind 52000 and Im worried that they willl not reach this number in Algeria because of the number of selected people during this year. My question is, may I change the ambassy of an other country and continue the process? and is it risky?
Thanks for your answer and support in advance

If your number doesn’t become current, being allocated to another embassy won’t help that.

Hi Simon,
I hope you are well. Just wanted to say a huge thank you for all your invaluable advice and help. Me and my wife had our interview at the London embassy two days ago and our visas got approved, to be issued within ten days. We are planning to move to the USA in April.
If it would be helpful to anyone else (this of course can vary from one embassy to another), the interview process was extremely simple. We arrived early morning, skipped the queue and went straight to the Green card interviewing area. The officer at the desk collected all the documents first. That was the longest procedure which took about 10 mins (all the usual certificates, education, i-134 as well as fingerprints for both of us).
Afterwards we paid the fee and waited an additional 15 mins to be called by the CO for a two-minute interview. The questions we were asked:
“1. When do you plan to travel?
2. How long have you lived in the UK?
3. What does your sponsor do for a living?
Congratulations, your visas have been approved and will be issued within ten days.”
Thank you again Simon, for all the information you provide and making it easier for everyone who’s on this journey.
Hopefully will be able to meet you some day and buy you a drink.
All the best.
IB

Hi Simon,
CN 2023AS15XXX and my case is current for February but I have not received my 2NL. I obtained my Police Clearance Certificate in August 2022. It has been 6 months since I got the certificate. Do I have to submit a new Police Clearance Certificate in order to cover the missing 6 month period at the interview?. Please make me clear.
Thank you for your advice.

No, they would normally accept the police cert, even up to 2 years old. However, if you want to “play safe”, then get a new police cert.
