Hi Mr Simon
I answered the question in DS that says if you have been employed before by NO, khnowing that i answered the other question ” your work ” by SELF EMPLOYED .
IS this a problem ? Because my interview will be next month , thank you
June 29, 2024 at 13:40
Not really a problem. The CO may clarify it with you.
June 29, 2024 at 09:17
Hey Simon, according to ceac data 2nl is publushed for month of june for example 346 2nl is already sent for nairobi, but for addis ababa it is not published .can we say 2nl is not sent for month of june for addis ababa?
Thank you!
June 29, 2024 at 13:40
No. We know Addis did get 2NLs up to just over 24K.
June 29, 2024 at 04:31
Hi BritSimon
1. In one of your lives a couple months ago you said that in the CEAC data for EU the totals should be around 25k to issue all the EU quota but that you expected it wouldn’t get higher than 22k or 23k this year because they’re running out of time to schedule all these people. Do you still think that (it is at 19k right now) ?
2. If we enter 221g in July (in EU) is there a risk we run out of visas before September ?
Thank you!
June 29, 2024 at 13:37
1. I was about right.
2. There is certainly a risk if you enter 221g in September. But the deadline would be a more likely risk than visa exhaustion.
June 29, 2024 at 03:46
Hi Brit,
I’m a DV2025 winner with a case number 2025EU38***. Do you think a have any chance to get a interwiew?
Thanks!
June 29, 2024 at 13:35
I don’t know. It is far to soon to know.
June 28, 2024 at 23:20
Why hasn’t the 2NL come to Colombo embassy yet? Its stopped with AS10000.
June 29, 2024 at 13:34
I don’t know.
June 28, 2024 at 21:42
My wife is pregnant and may give birth before we travel to the US. What is the procedure for getting our child to the US and getting a greencard? How long would that take?

Hi, something unusually has happened on KDU embassy. Since we have been current for the july for 2024AS10250. We all are waiting for our 2nl but the case 2024AS11629 is already got 2nl and scheduled in KDU according to the recent data please explain why is that. I don’t get it. How can they skip WHOLE 200 cases and send 2nl to to the case of August.
June 28, 2024 at 21:23
That case was originally scheduled in another embassy (Naples) and then quickly transferred to KDU. That is normal and proper behavior, and is what I have recommended to people in backlogged embassies.
June 29, 2024 at 00:39
Thanks for the reply brit.. Really admire your work but still waiting for the 2nl for our batch it’s end of the month but yet haven’t received the 2nl. Really upset us to see this kind of situation while we have been waiting for almost 2 months. Now should we email the KCC regarding our case? Or any idea when will we get our 2nl?
June 29, 2024 at 13:35
I don’t know.
June 29, 2024 at 10:00
Should email KCC about our case. when will it be scheduled because it’s already end of June and we haven’t got our 2nl yet.. Should we be worried?
June 29, 2024 at 13:41
You can email if you want.
June 28, 2024 at 18:36
Hi Simon,
I am Dv 2025 winner case 8K. When applying for the DV lottery, i was single for that case (tho with a girlfriend). She got pregnant along the way and baby was born 2nd april 2024. Found out i won the dv lottery in may and proceeded to declare my son in the ds 260, however not travelling with him to the US. I have his birth certificate and am still single not married. Are questions about his mother likely to be asked? Or do i need any consent from the mother?
June 28, 2024 at 20:37
No questions, but if you wanted a visa for the baby you would need written permission from the mother or court papers showing you have full custody.
June 28, 2024 at 13:54
Hello Simon,
Our case is EU257xx , the embassy is Yerevan, Armenia. Is there any chance that we would get an interview? Thanks in advane.
June 28, 2024 at 15:04
Maybe.
June 28, 2024 at 09:39
hello at this rate do you think that Dakar will send a lot of 2NL by September 30
June 28, 2024 at 15:04
I don’t know.
June 28, 2024 at 09:24
Dear Mr. Simon,
My interview is this Monday. I have a question:
I would like to live in Florida, where I have some relatives, but my affidavit of support lives in Ohio.
Do I have to land first where my affidavit of support lives, or can I fly directly to Florida?
Thank you, sir.
June 28, 2024 at 09:30
Fly where you like, live where you like. No one is checking.
June 28, 2024 at 06:59
Hi Brit, I’m a winner of DV2025 and have just completed my DS260. I want to submit it now but I’ve been asked to travel to Europe for work in September which will change the section of the form regarding countries I’ve been to. Is the ‘unlocking’ process a pain in the arse that’s best avoided? I’m considering waiting until after the trip to submit the form. If it matters, I have a low case number (2025OC5XX) and will likely be scheduled for embassy interview relatively early. Thanks!
June 28, 2024 at 09:29
You should submit now. You don’t have to unlock to update travel because your DS260 was accurate at the point you submitted it.
You won’t be scheduled early if your DS260 is in a backlog of processing, and that is already more likely because you have delayed submission. So unless you deliberately want to delay your interview until mid 2025, submit now.
June 28, 2024 at 22:27
Oh interesting, thanks for that Brit, I’ll submit it immediately. Is there anyway to estimate when an interview might be scheduled for somebody submitting today? I assume that your previous comment means that if I waited until September then I wouldn’t be scheduled until mid 2025.
June 29, 2024 at 13:34
I can’t estimate that precisely because I don’t know the status of the DS260 backlog at this point.
June 28, 2024 at 01:52
Hi Brit hope you are doing great by his grace, DV2024 AF 74k Yaounde Cameroon yet no 2nl and my worries is that the month is getting to the end which soon the will release vb for September. my question, do they sent 2nl based on case number or on how early you submit your DS260??
Secondly,Will all cases which becomes current in August VB receive their 2nl before that of September. Thanks
June 28, 2024 at 09:27
1. It is based on AV date – that is a combination of when your DS260 was processed (not submitted, processed) and when your number became current.
2. No
June 27, 2024 at 22:20
Except for the Asia region, the cutoff in other regions has surpassed half of the maximum. With this final VB, Europe’s cutoff is expected to jump above the halfway mark of the maximum. Can’t we expect a similar increase above the halfway mark for Asia, at least by 22000?
June 28, 2024 at 09:24
No – that is not how things work. Being half of the number range does not mean half of the cases, and no one has promised equality between the regions, because the overselection varies by region.
June 27, 2024 at 17:57
Hi Simon,
I hope your are doing well and thanks for your help in this life changing process. I’m a dv 2025 AF70XXX winner Riyadh post from Sudan. I am in the DS 260 closing stages, my concern is that me and my wife have a hand written birth certificate as we both was born in the 80’s. those original certificates we used when issuing our passports and they has all the requirements as described in “Prepare Supporting Documents” page on the travel.state.gov website. However starting about ten years ago in Sudan they started to transfer all the old documents into electronic form – including birth certificates – and unfortunately due to data entry errors we are not able to obtain those new birth documents unless we fly back home and do a long process to correct the wrong entries and as you know the country is in civil war now. is there any reason that they will not accept those original hand written birth certificates in the interview.
June 28, 2024 at 08:59
That is a very specific question about a document and I have no local experience or knowledge about it.
June 27, 2024 at 10:47
Hello Sir,
My case 2024af35k was placed on 221g for two months now, but last week (Thursday) I receive email from the embassy requesting a ticket booking, and I sent it on Friday afternoon, but its been a week now and I haven’t get any response or further instructions form the embassy. Therefore, I was thinking asking them that even if they get the ticket booking or not and the reason for that is that some of my friends who got their visas now, one of them the embassy asked her to send the ticket booking although she sent it before.
It is okay to send a follow up email incase they haven’t receive the ticket booking or should just wait and see..
June 27, 2024 at 13:48
No harm in emailing them.
June 27, 2024 at 14:57
Thank you..
June 27, 2024 at 09:56
Hi Simon , May I ask for DS260 form education portion to fill up high school education. My country school system level is Primary 4yrs , Secondary 4 yrs and High School 2 yrs. I attended for each level at different school. For DS260 form filling high school education attended from and to should be primary + Secondary + High school 10 yrs or just High school 2 yrs need to fill up ? Thank you.
June 27, 2024 at 10:30
The form asks for education from secondary level, so you would list secondary and HS.
Question though – would that education meet the requirements to directly enter a University?
June 27, 2024 at 10:52
Hi Simon , yes. After high school it was allowed entry to university at our country. In my DS260 submitted from I filled up attendee from and to with 10 urs duration ( primary + secondary + HS ). Should I unlock DS260 ? My CN is 2025AS10xxx.
June 27, 2024 at 13:48
No need to unlock.
June 27, 2024 at 11:59
Dear Mr BritSimo
I have got 2NL I am not quite sure about first entry city of birth .I gave the correct city of birth on Ds260
Is there any frustration for my visa if not compatible with first entry?
Thanks
June 27, 2024 at 13:49
No – unless it was a totally different country in a different region.
June 27, 2024 at 23:48
Thanks Sir 🙏🙏🙏
June 27, 2024 at 07:33
Hi Simon,
Please I would like to find out from you how this can be tackled. My sister was selected for DV lottery 2025. She played as married (though at the time she was only married traditionally). They did their civil wedding in April 2024 and she was selected in May.
Can this lead to a disqualification because she was legally married only after the entry was done? Please help!
June 27, 2024 at 09:26
If that country recognizes the traditional marriage (but asks that it be formalized through a civil service)then there is a good chance of approval. The fact that the civil service was before the results helps. Ultimately it will be up to the CO to decide, but your sister should plan on providing evidence of the traditional marriage as well as the civil papers.
June 27, 2024 at 12:10
Thank you very much for your reply Simon.
June 27, 2024 at 03:58
Helloo Brits….
Dv winner from Ghana, till now Accra embassy hasnt sent any 2nl for
this month. so please do think thats the end for the Accra people considering the poor performance from them.
June 27, 2024 at 09:22
I expect a few more interviews for Accra before the end of the year – but obviously Accra plan to ruin the chances for most people.
June 27, 2024 at 02:43
Hi Simon!
I know you don’t like predictions haha but if you happen to have enough knowledge on this what’s an educated percentage prediction you can give on Iranian AP cases passing in time for August/September (I’m assuming maybe in your many years you’ve seen or heard of such cases, if not then forgive me you can ignore this).
This is on basis of if it is worth the near 1k+ USD (including medical) to be paid for the whole process just for a 10% chance for example vs 50% that some would argue is worth the risk.
June 27, 2024 at 09:16
I don’t have a percentage estimate like that.
June 27, 2024 at 22:04
Ah that’s fair and far reaching by me. In that case I will reword and ask do you believe Iranian 221g cases can actually be processed in time even if it starts in August/September?
I remember reading you mentioning somewhere before that they try to speed up processing of 221g towards the end of the year meaning some processing cases that take 3-4 months for example wouldn’t take the same amount of time at this point in the year
June 28, 2024 at 09:22
I fully understand your desire to know *something*, but the reality is I can’t give you comfort. 221g for Iranians routinely takes a long time. It is a high risk for cases being interviewed in August/September. If you want to proceed, you have to accept that risk.
June 26, 2024 at 23:24
Hi Brit
Thank you for your help. We had with my family our interview yesterday and it worked fine. We are supposed to have our visas in two weeks.
On the DS260 website, it is indicated that having a visa does not mean that you have the greencard yet. We must validate everything when we arrive at the immigration office at the airport.
Is it for you a formality or are there specific reasons for being potentially denied by the immigration officier in the US?
I would like to be able to start to project myself there but i want to be sure that there is no reason to not have the greencard at this stage.
Final question: still on the website, they say that we have to carry our « sealed » file. Does it concern the medical results of the xray? Because here in France, we were not given a sealed case other than our xray scan.
Thanks again for your help! We really appreciate everything you do to help People on this difficult journey through the american immigration system!!!
Thanks!!
The french family
June 27, 2024 at 09:12
The process you go though upon entry is not an interview, so once your visas are in hand you can project al you want.
When you get the visas there will be a sealed packet – that is what they are talking about.
June 27, 2024 at 11:39
Thank you very much for your answer Brit.
June 26, 2024 at 17:58
Hi Simon,
I hope your are doing. This is a general question if our case number become current for September this is mean we only have one month to get an interview at the embassy (if we are lucky), so the chance is nearly nil, are you ok with that or it depends on the embassy ?
June 27, 2024 at 09:07
The September interviews are arranged in July. So there is slightly more risk for September interviews, but not “nearly nil”
June 26, 2024 at 15:53
What an abrupt ending to DV 2020 & 2021. I tried to understand it but it’s a little complicated given that there are multiple different suits with different outcomes.
Well, I guess your future Q&As are gonna start differently now lol. I guess the first couple of them would be reiterating the final decision to announce it but yeah. Game over. Ouch.
June 26, 2024 at 19:26
Yep the Q&A into will change…
Ouch is right. Very sad.
June 26, 2024 at 12:33
Hello Brit,
A question I have asked a few times already and I apologize for being repetitive.
DV2024 Case N: 28.6K (Sofia Embassy). Case went current and still no 2NL.
You mentioned that the Sofia embassy is not taking many cases, but that can be a good thing as I can easily be scheduled. You expect for me to have an interview in September if a Visa is available.
My additional question is, should I expect to receive the 2NL in July (if not by the end if June) and how long should I wait until I eventually know If I don’t receive the 2NL then I should give up waiting? Is it possible to expect a 2NL by the end of July or do I give up waiting earlier?
Thanks in advance!
June 26, 2024 at 19:25
The final 2NLs for September will probably be sent by very early August.
June 26, 2024 at 21:32
Hello BritSimon. Thank you for helping us with the Lottery. We appreciate you so much.
I have a little issue that I want you to kindly help me.
I am a Dv lottery 2025 winner with a case number of 24k from Ghana. I filled and submitted my Ds 260 form and did the interview location Accra Ghana. Please can you kindly assist me with changing the location of the embassy ?
June 27, 2024 at 09:09
You will have to move to another country, later this year (before you become current).
https://britsimonsays.com/how-to-change-embassies/
June 27, 2024 at 10:05
Hello Brit,
My case number is EU28.6K and I am already current.
Could you please elaborate, what do you mean by that?
Changing embassies while waiting for a 2NL and being current?
Apologies for being even more confused.
If that is the case at what stage do I consider moving to another embassy? Is it after the new Visa bulletin comes out in July and I haven’t received a 2NL?
Which embassy is best near and instead of Sofia?
June 27, 2024 at 10:08
Disregard my reply and questions sorry.
June 27, 2024 at 00:49
So even If my case Number went current in June I can expect to receive a 2NL any time between Now and early August?
June 27, 2024 at 09:14
You can “hope”.
June 26, 2024 at 07:59
Hi mr brit do you think the 55k visa will finish before the 30 septembre 2024? Will Dv2024 ressemble 2023 were interviews will be canceled? I am a little bit woried 2024AF 73k Cameroon yaounde havn’t yet recieve 2nl
June 26, 2024 at 08:53
No
June 26, 2024 at 06:34
Hi Simon,
I just noticed that on my university degree the official English translator named the college department as “Husbandry” while on the DS form I wrote “Livestock Breeding” – – I wrote that according to my knowledge. The official name of the college is the same both on the DS form and on the translated copy. Is that an issue – if yes, should I unlock the form now, EU2024 314XX
June 26, 2024 at 08:53
No need to unlock for that.
June 26, 2024 at 05:51
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your guidance.
DS 260 Question: Vaccinations in accordance with US law?
Answer: No, I will obtain the required vaccinations on or before the date of the medical exam. Will there is any issues?
June 26, 2024 at 08:52
No
June 26, 2024 at 23:44
Hi Brit, In the initial application I used three names, Alvin Steve Kangethe. The name’ Steve’ I was given in my catholic church confirmation name.I later realized that the name Steve does not appear in any of my supporting documents.Whats should I do?
June 27, 2024 at 09:13
List that name in the DS260 in the “other names used” section, but make sure the legal name has only your legal name.
June 26, 2024 at 05:47
Hello Simon,
Thank you for your guidance.
DS 260 question: In which occupation do you plan to work in the US?
1. Primary applicant: Ans: BUSINESS – I am a finance professional and currently work as a Finance Officer.
2. Accompany. Ans: LEGAL PROFESSION, She has a diploma in national law, works at the government court. Will there be any issues during the interview?
June 26, 2024 at 08:52
No
June 26, 2024 at 02:45
Hi Simon, I hope you’re doing well.
I’am DV 2025 winner, I did mistake when I was filling the first entry, I put my names in wrong order, is there any solution.
June 26, 2024 at 08:51
If you did that to cover up multiple entries, then I suggest you forget the win. But if it was a genuine simple mistake, then you can correct the names in the DS260, and they will usually forgive the error.
June 25, 2024 at 23:30
Hi Simon , thanks for all the info you provide to us , I have a question: Can I extend my dv visa expiration date? because in less than 1 month my visa will expire and had a programmed flight but i got an accident and i think i will not going to take my flight , is there some process to extend my dv visa expiration date?
June 25, 2024 at 23:47

June 25, 2024 at 21:16
hello this is Deli from Sm1smom forum .She already have addressed the below question but I want to have your perspective of it .the question actually triggered again by what you have recently said on one of your live videos during fathers day about applying for AOS via DV program while being on Asylum pending
I am among DV-2025 selectees Case Number: 2025AF1XXX and here in USA with B2 visa expired on June 1st 2024 . I applied for Affirmative asylum on January 2024 and TPS on May way before my B2 visa expired .
my questions is
considering my CN will be current on October , is being on Asylum pending which is not status but authorized stay be enough or qualify me to process my AOS via DV ?
June 25, 2024 at 21:54
Mom is the expert.
June 25, 2024 at 17:43
Hey brit,
My husband got AF36××× after we fill DS 260form we found out that it’s to far to be interviewed in Addis Abeba, he is currently in US under TPS should we open up again and do the adjustment status, can he do the interview from there? if yes what is it going to be for me and our two kids?
June 25, 2024 at 18:22
I wish you hade included the year. But yes, that might be a possibility.
June 25, 2024 at 14:41
Hello Mr.Simon,
Just have a question about paying for the DV lottery fees. My visa number isn’t current as of yet but hopefully in the upcoming bulletin. Should I pay for the fees in advance since I will be doing AoS (wondering if this will speed up my process when I do my AoS) or should I wait for the visa number to become current then pay for it? Always appreciate your work.
Regards,
Minh.
June 25, 2024 at 14:47
Pay it early so that you can file with the receipt the moment you go current (using the early filing policy).
June 25, 2024 at 14:19
Hi Brit my case number is 2024As12100 from Nepal is there any chance for getting an interview I m worried about it
June 25, 2024 at 14:45
Maybe
June 25, 2024 at 11:14
Hi simon
1.Any chance for 2024AS219** ??? 2.Outof 70000, if the total interviewed comes 69,000, then can we expect 22000 cutoff for Asia?
June 25, 2024 at 11:48
We have to wait and see.
June 25, 2024 at 08:43
Hi Simon,
I received the 2NL and I’m registering for the visa interview. The application is requesting my information and it states that it must match my passport and DS260 number. My question is: The main name in my DS260 application includes my full legal name (First, Middle, and Last names), but my passport includes only my First and Last names. Which one should I enter?
Thank you
June 25, 2024 at 07:58
Hi
Is it possible to know the last case number for Nepal and Iran for 2024AS??
Total selectees for Nepal is 3863, and upto now they have covered 2962, so is it possible to current Nepal upto their last case number? Because only 900 number of selectees are there.

Dear Simon,
Hope you qre doing well.
I am DV2024 winner with EU14050 case number. I submitted my DS260 18 June 2023 to be interviewed in Tashkent. However, visa bulliten has reached to 12500 for August.
My question is do I have a chance to be called to the interview??
Thank you for your reply beforehand.
June 25, 2024 at 08:45
I have no inside information. Let’s wait and see.
June 25, 2024 at 07:00
Hi Brit ,
I am a single applicant ;DV winner with case number 2025AF00007XXX.
I only have A High School Diploma as an Education qualification.
And I intend to study in the USA after I arrive.
If I put Student as What I intend to do in the USA ,will they ask for Bank Statements or Affidavit of Support?
June 25, 2024 at 08:44
They might ask for that regardless of your student status.
June 25, 2024 at 06:56
Hello Simon,
2025AF135xx. Selected embassy: ABD
After checking my ds260 I found that I made mistake on my present address. After typing street address, City and State, I have entered CAMEROON instead of UNITED ARAB EMIRATE.
Do I need to unlock for the second time or I can correct it during the interview.
June 25, 2024 at 08:43
Unlock it.
June 25, 2024 at 03:09
Hi Simon!
Hope you’re doing well! I was hoping you could clear up some confusion regarding chargeability. Both my parents were born in Ex-Yugoslavia/Bosnia and were refugees in Canada at the time I was born and received PR later on. Would I be be considered as chargeable to Bosnia? Thanks !
June 25, 2024 at 08:42
You could try – I think the chances are good. The CO would have to be convinced that as refugees they were not “permanent” residents yet.
June 24, 2024 at 22:39
hi simon about a month ago i was interviewed at the malaysian embassy and i was placed under 221g but today i got an email asking for my Travel itinerary does this mean i am approved for the visa
June 24, 2024 at 23:09
Well they don’t care about travel plans for cases they are refusing…
June 25, 2024 at 00:41

Hello!
My question is regarding vaccines/the medical. The Australian government only started recording vaccinations administered after 1 Jan 1996. For any vaccines before this date, you need to rely on your ‘baby book’ which is essentially a piece of paper with the boxes ticked & a signature from the doctor confirming you have had these vaccines. Do you know if this will suffice in the medical interview? Or likely I will need to get all of these vaccines again?
Thanks!

The physician will be used to that, so I think they will accept the records you have.

My number is about 13010 and my file in Nepal is the highest number the Nepalese embassy has reached with the latest schedule 10047.
Is it possible that the Nepalese embassy lists all the numbers in the bulletin, or is it better for me to transfer my file to another embassy as long as my number is included in the bulletin?

It is possible that Nepal schedules all cases, but there is no guarantee that they will. It is also possible that your case number does not become current. So – you need to decide for yourself whether to move to another embassy or not, but it is very late to do so.

Hello Brit, I wanted to ask you something. Can we travel to the US for 10 days, while being in the 2025 DV lottery process, with our tourism visa? We need to attend some business issues there and cannot do them by phone or email. Could this harm our process in any way? What is your point of view regarding this situation? What would you advise us to do? Thank you very much.

No problem.

Hi Simon,
Thank you for the selfless support to DV applicants. I would have loved a discreet response if you don’t mind. My friend is a DV 2025 selectee unfortunately he didn’t list his 2 children in the original entry. How best can he got about this without ruining his chances? Is it too risky to include them on ds 260 form ?
June 24, 2024 at 19:28
His chances were ruined the moment he left his derivatives off the original entry.

Hello Mr,
We had been placed in P.A for already 6 months following an additional clinical examination of the chest and the result was delayed by two months in arriving at the US embassy in Kinshasa. Since then we have been writing emails, calling and the response is always to wait. Even when we left there, the security agents responded that many people always come for the same problems. We don’t understand anything!
So what’s the problem with the Kinshasa DR Congo embassy?

Hi Brit,
I’m curious if a person has their interview scheduled for the 30th of September, is it possible for them to obtain the visa? Additionally, what happens if they have received the 2NL but there are still cases in the “ready” state ahead of them that may or may not have been interviewed?
Thank you for your response.
June 24, 2024 at 08:25
Yes they can get approved on the 30th, although the visa will be printed a few days later.
There will be READY cases that remain unissued at the end of the year. These are generally thought of as “no shows”, where people did not show up for the interview.
