The Trump administration has extended the April 22nd ban until the end of 2020. This represents a huge blow to DV2020 applicants and could also affect DV2021.
- It does not affect people already in LPR status (Green Card holders)
- It does not affect anyone already holding a DV visa from before April 22 (and extensions should still be possible as I have previously explained).
- It does not affect DV cases doing adjustment of status in the USA
- It does affect DV2020 cases (unless the order is successfully challenged).
- It affects DV2020 cases who were on 221(g) AP and waiting for the resolution of their cases.
- It will affect DV2021 cases, delaying the start of the process (unless the order is successfully challenged)
The order itself can be seen here

Hello Brit, I am a DV lottery winner going to the US fron Mauritius on 14 Aug 2020. 1 question, what papers am I required to take with me? My passport (which includes my visa), the sealed enveloppe that was provided by the embassy, the sealed x-ray provided during the medical exam, what else? I have already paid the USCIS fees online. Please let me know if there’s anything else required.

Nothing else.

Hi Brit. My husband and I successfully entered the USA. We are extremely grateful to you for your continuous support. Thank you for everything.
One question. On my Visa in my passport, it is written ” Upon endorsement, serves as 1 year permanent residence”. The CBP has endorse it at the airport. What are we required to do, are we supposed to renew it every year? If so, how? Or is our green card for an indefinite perior of time? If we are supposed to renew our PR, how is that done?

The endorsement is intended to identify you until you get the plastic GC. The plastic card is renewed each 10 years.

Hello Brit. My visa had been issued on 24 march 2020. But they had made an error in my name and the visa had to be cancelled and re issued. It has been re issued on the 9 July 2020. Will we be allowed to enter into the US normally and not be impacted by Trump’s executive order given that the issue date has changed?
July 22, 2020 at 17:31
No problem.
