AFRICA | CURRENT | Except: Egypt: 21,325 |
ASIA | CURRENT | Except: Nepal: 6,950 |
EUROPE | 23,325 | |
NORTH AMERICA (BAHAMAS) | CURRENT | |
OCEANIA | 1,400 | |
SOUTH AMERICA, and the CARIBBEAN |
1,585 |
This is for August interviews and is the penultimate VB for the DV2018 year.
For the inevitable questions. CURRENT means all case numbers in the region can be scheduled. AS region being current was expected, AF region was not.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. For the last three months there have been delays in 2NLs for a large number of people – so we still expect some people to be interviewed that were current in June and July. It is obvious that there has been some delay in scheduling interviews – at least in some embassies. Since this is not normal I don’t have good answers for what that means, what impacts that will cause and so on. Because AF regon is now current it means that the AF embassies that are scheduling interviews as normal will be able to have ANY case number scheduled, but I suspect there will still be some scheduling problems in some of the embassies. It’s going to be interesting.
It looks like there has been a small redistribution from Asia (because AS region cannot use its quota while the travel ban is in force), and that has benefitted OC, SA and EU. Because of this OC and SA might exceed their previous expected numbers (so people with borderline high cases just got some good news) whilst EU is still a low number despite more visas from AS.
One more VB to go for DV2018.
For DV2019 winners – remember this VB is NOTHING to do with your numbers – this is just DV2018.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

June 15, 2018 at 13:30
Not gonna happen for EU this year, at least all the evidence points towards that…
June 15, 2018 at 15:17
Hi Brit i just want you to confirm this My case number is AF38xxx when they say all numbers are current in African region does it means even those with a pretty higher number than my case can be scheduled?
June 15, 2018 at 13:27
So current means everything depends on the embassy’s capacities right ? If the embassy have few cases so it might be able to schedule an interview faster than the other places ? Thank you
June 15, 2018 at 14:40
I think I answered that in the article….
June 15, 2018 at 15:47
Hi Fre !
If I am right, You guys are also schedule intervie at Montral ? We will be also going for an interview for Montral embassy in AUG as well, are you guys ready regarding you paper work ? email me if you need any help,
Thanks you and good luck? Sam
June 15, 2018 at 17:01
Hi sam yeah i will be having my interview in montreal. Email me : [email protected]
June 15, 2018 at 13:29
Hi Brit, any idea on why they decided to make AF current and not EU , OC or SA?
June 15, 2018 at 14:39
Well yeah – we have the issued data, and we know the quotas.
AS region is not going to hit quota because of the travel ban (Yemen and Iran).
AF is not going to hit its quota, partly affected by the ban, but the slow issuance rate is more puzzling. However, there is not enough time to fill the quota, so going current will get them as close as possible.
OC, SA and EU are all issuing well and nearing quotas. There are too many selectees in those regions – so some will miss out.
June 15, 2018 at 13:30
Brit, so the dream ends for EU26XXX + ?
or it’s still chance for current?
June 15, 2018 at 14:35
Well whatever anyone says, you are going to check the next VB aren’t you….
June 15, 2018 at 13:32

June 15, 2018 at 14:34
Wait and see.
June 15, 2018 at 13:37
Dear Simon,
I did not believe that this day would come, i remember you wrote to me yourself that my number is high but still wait and see.
Only one step left,

The interview in Jerusalem is expected to be in August?
Should I start preparing documents or waiting?
Thanks
June 15, 2018 at 14:34
You can decide – you don’t need me to tell you.
June 15, 2018 at 15:29

June 15, 2018 at 13:39
any hopes for eu291xx ? i am so dissapointed for eu numbers .. good luck to everybody who got current 🙂
June 15, 2018 at 14:31
That number is still very much risky.
June 15, 2018 at 13:43
Hi any predictions for Europe now that Africa and Asia went current ?
June 15, 2018 at 13:45
what case nr are you from eu ?
June 15, 2018 at 15:16
31k
June 15, 2018 at 14:30
Not from me. I’m sure others will have their predictions coming soon.
June 15, 2018 at 13:45
Well, 33K EU not going to happen. LOL. No more wait ans see.
June 15, 2018 at 13:52
you mentioned that EU benefited from as getting current, how so? also any ideas what can happen in Europe, can we rule something out?
June 15, 2018 at 14:27
The number increase, while small, showed the pace didn’t drop. Honestly, with the pace of issuances going so fast, that shows there was some relief – but no one should suddenly expect a huge bonanza in EU – that won’t happen. One month left – let’s wait and see.
June 15, 2018 at 13:56
Simon is any hope for EU 34*** if next will be current?
June 15, 2018 at 14:25
I don’t think so…
June 15, 2018 at 13:57
The only year since ages where 30k EU won’t be called, how to go from super luck of being selected to the worse.
June 15, 2018 at 13:57
Hi Brit thanks for all you have been doing, updating us on every possible detail. Sorry to still come back to this question . I know you have explained it before but I just want to be sure. My case number is AF45XXX. Does current mean that we should be expecting our 2nls?
June 15, 2018 at 14:24
The answer is in the article….
June 15, 2018 at 13:58
there is something worse than not been selected, it is your case number not being current, all these waits and struggles… 260xx.. still little hope
June 15, 2018 at 13:59
what is the time between the 2NLs and the interview?
June 15, 2018 at 14:23
Typically around 5 to 8 weeks.
June 15, 2018 at 14:00
Dear Simón Yam la once again for your análisis and best hopes
What’s your border line for SA as you know I’m 165x
Any hopes with these numbers ? I was surprised by an increment of 160 instead of 150-175 or even 75 it’s a weird number
Thanks again
June 15, 2018 at 14:23
You have hope.
June 15, 2018 at 17:06
Hi Brit. What do you think about SA170X?? Hope, wait and see?

June 15, 2018 at 14:21
Still at risk.
June 15, 2018 at 14:16
God day Brit thanks the visa bulletin is finally out but am lost here because I don’t understand the exact case numbers that are current in the AF am AF38630 so I should be expecting my 2nl in two weeks from now .pls Brit I need help …
June 15, 2018 at 14:21
Read the article.
June 15, 2018 at 14:17
2NLs send between 20 to 24 of every month some get there 2NL in the end of the month.
The time between 2NL and the interview is uneven between people because maybe two ppl (Ahmed & Bahaa) have reseved there 2NLs in 23rd June and Ahmed appointment is in 1st of AUG while Bahaa interview is in 29th of AUG so Ahmed will wait for 47 days until his interview on the other hand Bahaa will wait for 76 days.
Hope that clear enough.
Anyways you don’t have to worry just get your 2NL and go to the appointment.
Fanally I’m a 2018 winner from if you would like us to be in touch contact me through my email [email protected]
June 15, 2018 at 14:24
Current mean Every one in the region will be schedule for interview for AFRICA you will be schedule no matter what is your CN if you were not from Egypt wich if you r from there you need to be below 21325
June 15, 2018 at 14:25
Thanks again Brit.
I need 85 number to reach my case number. One of the first answer that you gave to me was that I will have a long wait for my interview and you were 100% certain in that. I hope not a bad sorprise to me at the end.
Thanks again Brit
June 15, 2018 at 14:44
This will be a long nervous month for you – but no amount of statistical analysis can help – now – it is just waiting for that final VB. Buena suerte!
June 15, 2018 at 14:33
Brit pls don’t be mad at me does it means all case numbers in the AF Zion’s are current .that means all cases above 38000 should be waiting on rhiet 2nl right .
Thanks .
June 15, 2018 at 14:44
Hi Brit,
For people who living in USA is there any 2nl or not because I called the Kcc and they told me there is no 2nl now you should contact the USCIS ?.
My CN got current today
Appreciate your help
June 15, 2018 at 14:48
Oh my – you have had a year to understand the process and now today you are asking such a basic question. Amazing.
You should have been ready to submit your package. Read the link below and get yourself informed.

June 15, 2018 at 14:44
From your PREVIOUS predictions for OC, What do u think now… the new likely range for borderline higher case numbers for the region?
June 15, 2018 at 14:46
Yep – OC could see a slightly higher number than I expected. But slightly – don’t expect miracles.
June 15, 2018 at 14:53
That sounds positive. So for OC160x there’s hope?
June 15, 2018 at 15:08
Well more than there was yesterday.
June 16, 2018 at 03:58
With a rank number of OC1567, under the assumption my number was unlikely to come up, to date I had been hesitant to submit my DS-260 due to the concern that it would indicate “immigrant intent” on future B1/B2 visa applications (I’m already red flagged by State Department due an overstay of less than 180 days and no longer eligible for visa waiver).
Now though, with OC adding 200 to reach 1400, 1600 seems more likely for the final month.
All things considered, I think its time to submit the DS-260, as wouldn’t want to miss out on an interview if KCC doesn’t process it in time. Or is it the case that KCC doesn’t process until my rank number is reached?
Thanks in advance for any feedback Simon.
June 16, 2018 at 04:38
They process DS260s before the numbers are reached. You have to decide whether to gamble or not.
June 15, 2018 at 14:56
According to this surprise of AS, is there the possibility that South America will be in current for the next newsletter?
June 15, 2018 at 15:08
No
June 15, 2018 at 14:57
Hi britt , how are you ?
After long time I chat with you. My friend from AS125×× . If any possible would call up for interview in september 2018. Thanks in advance. July was 10500. August is current .
June 15, 2018 at 15:09
August or September…
June 15, 2018 at 14:58
Now we see. I am wondering do they send the 2NL letter for all CURRENT cases with in a week or two. Or distribute it in August And September
June 15, 2018 at 15:09
Did you read the article?
June 15, 2018 at 15:30
I read it….Because AF regon is now current it means that the AF embassies that are scheduling interviews as normal will be able to have ANY case number scheduled, but I suspect there will still be some scheduling problems in some of the embassies. It’s going to be interesting……that doesnot indicate the months……from there i will take your favorite answer….. wait and see
June 15, 2018 at 15:11
Hmm i have the same question hope Brit would know
June 15, 2018 at 15:01
Hello Britsimon
Now that all the cases in AF is current I pray to receive my 2NL against August. My case number Af290xx and I’m from Cameroon. No matter I was current before this August bulletin but due to the delay i didn’t receive 2nl last month, God is still saying something.
June 15, 2018 at 15:07
Hello Britsimon
As every case number in AF is current am glad. I still have some hope to receive my 2nl for August with a case number of 2018AF290xx that was delayed I’m from Cameroon.
June 15, 2018 at 15:08
I have 2018EU244XX. Do you think VB will reach that number or not? Just your feelings.
June 15, 2018 at 21:41
I don’t know.
June 15, 2018 at 15:11
Hello Brit, is there any hope for EU2018265xxx??
Best regards,
June 15, 2018 at 17:00
I don’t know. Wait and see.
June 15, 2018 at 15:12
Finally the wait is over ☺️☺️☺️Thank u brit
June 15, 2018 at 15:14
Hello again Brit,
Do you know of any AoS case, that got current in September, had their interview in September but still managed to get their GC without issues, on time? I know you also had yours in September, but I was wondering about that issue of visas running out that happened in 2017. Did it happen in any of the previous years before 2017, and how likely is it to happen this year, given the new (and careful?) pacing KCC applied this year? Any thoughts on that would be appreciated.
I am incredibly worried. Due to my job and financial circumstances, CP is not really a viable option for me at this point, so I would like to stick to AoS. My number will likely go current in September with the next VB.
Thank you very much
June 15, 2018 at 16:59
Yes – in previous years, that has worked. However, in DV2017 – it went badly for AOS folks because unlike CP, a visa is NOT reserved when the appointment is scheduled.
June 15, 2018 at 15:15
Hi Brit,
I guess there will be no more chance for my case EU287XX. Won’t it?
Since may 2017 onwards, I’ve lost 13 months.
13 months… Extremly valuable considering human being average life.
I could have used other options for my life.
Geen Card is my greatest regret !
Good Bye Everyone… ??
Regards,
Mic
June 15, 2018 at 15:44
I am also eu28XXX ..so unfair how someone pulled the plug on us:) numerous slepless night, bothering us friends , surfing immigrant forums ,preparing docs, fighting with spouse on us future..i did not apply for dv2019 and could have spent thís 13months to prepare papers for canada or australia loterry programes..one of worst days of my life..instead of lottery winner we have became lottery LOOSERS
June 15, 2018 at 15:18
Hello Britsimon
I pray Cameroon embassy will step up their game this time around cos all case number in AF is current. My number is 2018AF290xx and was current for July but didn’t receive 2nl. By God grace august may be my month.
June 15, 2018 at 16:17
You still have enough time to receive your 2nl because they say you will do your medicals at least 2 or three weeks before the interview date so just wait a little
June 15, 2018 at 16:42
Hey paul have u check ur status at ceac if its current??
June 15, 2018 at 16:45
Still shows “AT NVC” but may be it would go current as days go by this month for August interview. I pray so
June 15, 2018 at 18:21
No case ever shows “current”!!!
June 15, 2018 at 15:21
any redistribution expected in the final VB? Even though the issuance rate in EU is so high…what could possibly help 28XXX
June 15, 2018 at 15:28
Hello Brit,
If KCC see that 50K visas will not be reached until next visa bulletin, Do you think EU might see 33K-34K cutoff. In fact, my question, what is the EU consulate capacities?
I mean what is the max EU cutoff number if EU might have?
thanks again
June 15, 2018 at 16:09
33/34 is very unlikely.
June 15, 2018 at 15:30
Brit,
What is the maximum consulate capacities of EU ?
June 15, 2018 at 16:06
We don’t know.
June 15, 2018 at 15:34
Hi Brit, please tell us is there any chance for EU26xxx case numbers?
June 15, 2018 at 16:06
Wait and see
June 15, 2018 at 15:49
Only wait and see to SA, I wish had good new
June 15, 2018 at 15:49
Dear Simon, thank you once more for your analysis and for the always accurate and truthful information.
What is your border line for SA? My case is 180x. Do you have any hope for me? I was surprised that the increase was so small, 10 more cases than the previous month, we all expected a big jump for SA.
Do you think possible “Current for SA?
Thank you again
June 15, 2018 at 15:55
Current is not possible. I don’t have a prediction for the final number – really – wait and see.
June 15, 2018 at 16:15
Thank you very much
June 15, 2018 at 15:59
Dear Brit I am very disappointed. I got a 267** do you think that ther is a hope? Hope for redistribution or something else?
Thanks
June 15, 2018 at 16:10
I am glad to see Africa current. It’s a relief for me you know. I thought this wouldn’t had happen, and to all patience is the key. Now I can expect my 2nl in a couple of weeks. Thanks to britsimon for helping to minimize my anxiety, furthermore for not giving us answer that we would love to hear but rather ones that are prudent.
June 15, 2018 at 16:16
Hey Brit.
You may have already answered to my question that will follow but please don’t mind to repeat if so:
My case number is still above the august cut-off so my last hope is September. What I wonder about is what if the interview is scheduled on the last days of September and u get your visa issued then. What is the latest you should enter the US? Is there any constraint for that?
June 15, 2018 at 18:24
You do not have to enter before the end of September. You have to enter before the expiry date on your visa – which is normally 6 months after the medical (although some medical conditions could shorten that).
June 15, 2018 at 16:20
I’m at around EU238xx and I have to say I am frustrated yet optimistic, I’ve been waiting for my number to come out since the May VB lol.
Brit You’d be optimistic about my number right?
June 15, 2018 at 18:22
I would wait and see….
June 15, 2018 at 18:44
Lol ok
