We have many DV2020 selectees with very basic questions. Let me try and address the most frequent ones here in the hope that people will read this. If you ask a question and I give you a link to this page, it is to indicate that your question can be answered by reading this page and using some common sense. Please use the links in the title at the top of this page for Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and the DV lottery guide. There is LOTS of information available on my site – so a look through the FAQ and guide will take care of most questions.
Please read the ground rules at the bottom of this page.
Current Status of the ESC page
For the first few days each year the performance of the system is bad. Too many people are checking, the site gets overwhelmed and crashes. As of today, it seems to be behaving better most of the time – BUT it could still crash or be sluggish.
The site is accurately providing results. It is not broken for basic checking. However, the “Forgot Confirmation Number link is broken. It takes your info and bounces back to the start when you submit. So – if you have not got your details from the entry last year, you will have to wait until they fix that functionality. I have NO IDEA when that will be. You have to just wait. I have received MANY requests to recover confirmation codes for people, I have NO WAY of doing that, so your emails are being ignored.
Next, as usual, I have already had many people who swear they have followed instructions and the system won’t find their result. Every single case I have been sent so far that I have check I was able to get the result first time. That means people are not paying attention. The most common ways are entering the whole name (not just the lastname before the comma), or they mix up letters/numbers in the confirmation code. The system prompts people about the latter, but people ignore that, and assume the system is broken. It is not broken. YOU are making a mistake. The links below will help both with the checking AND with accessing the DS260 for winners.
However, I do want to urge people to NOT rush to fill out the DS260. There is no advantage to rushing, and many of you can actually cause yourself a problem by submitting a DS260 without thinking it through. So – wait. Read below and take your time.
Here are two links to help those still not able to check their entry:
https://britsimonsays.com/faq/checking-esc-page-check-without-mistakes/
And here is a video to explain how to check your entry result.
And for those that cannot submit their DS260
https://britsimonsays.com/faq/ds260-case-number-doesnt-match-case-number/
And those that cannot access their DS260 because of invalid immigrant case number message click this link
Now – some questions.
Is there a deadline to submit my DS260?
There is no official deadline to submit your DS260. People will continue to submit DS260s for DV2019 cases well into 2020. Submissions as late as April, May or perhaps even June of next year will still get processed in time.
How long does it take to process the DS260?
The way DS260’s are processed was changed for DV2018. In addition there was a change to the process at the beginning of this year about ubmitting documents to KCC AFTER the DS260. So – please be careful.
The actual processing time of the DS260 is quite short – probably 3 to 4 weeks. From 2018, KCC managed to prioritize the way they process DS260s to ensure DS260s submitted for lower case numbers are processed before higher case numbers that will wait anyway for their case numbers to become current. This was a good change – because in previous years DS260 caused scheduling delays for many cases.
Does every DS260 take the same time to process?
No. There is some background checks required on each case that vary according to the situation of the selectees. The precise details of the checks are not published, but we can guess they are mainly about ensuring security of the USA. That means they communicate with agencies and foreign governments about the details you provide on the DS260. Some countries co-operate with the USA, some don’t. In countries that don’t co-operate you can expect DS260 will take longer. So, some cases are very simple, and some not so simple. If a selectee was raised in Western Europe, works in an office and has never travelled to certain high risk countries we can expect the DS260 processing (once the case is ACTUALLY processed, not queued) to be quick. If on the other hand someone has travel history around certain countries in the middle East or lists their work as “Nuclear weapons specialist”, well they can expect the US government to take longer over those checks.
So – never assume that all DS260s submitted on the same day will complete processing on the same day. There will be variations.
When will I be interviewed?
Interview timing is mainly based on your case number, and where that number is ranked within each region. If you submitted your DS260 early, but have a high case number within your region, you will wait until that case number is ready to be interviewed. So – if you are case number 10000 in AS region for example you can expect a long wait before being interviewed. However regions have their own numbering, SO that same number in AF region (where the highest case number could be a lot higher) that 10000 number would be very low. So “low or high” number is relative within the region.
Is my number safe?
At this time we are already seeing some VERY high case numbers being quoted, these high numbers are FAR beyond the numbers that we have come to consider as safe numbers. So there can only be two explanations of that.
- KCC have selected FAR too many people and high case numbers will not get interviewed. That has happened before, and is somewhat “normal” which is why being selected is not a guarantee of getting a Green Card.
- There are more holes this year because KCC implemented some new technology/rule. This is a possible, but probably over optimistic idea. As I mentioned in my last article the case numbers are not consecutive. So – it is possible to have a massive increase in holes over previous years. But until we see the selectee numbers we will not know how many holes there are.
The point is, if point 2 is not correct (and I tend to believe it is not), then this year will see cutoffs at the end of the year so selectees with high case numbers will miss out. Again, until we see the selectee numbers we cannot say for sure what is high, or what is safe. Please understand I cannot answer the “am I safe” question for many of you.
Update July 2019 – since this article was published we now have more data and I have predictions here:
When will interviews start and how will I be told of my interview date?
No DV2020 interviews will happen before October 2019. DV2020 interviews will continue until September 30th 2020. So stop packing your bags. It’s a long process. Interview scheduled are notified in monthly batches about 6 weeks before the interview month. The notification is called the 2NL.
When will KCC send the first 2NLs?
The first 2NLs (the interview notification) for DV2020 will go out in mid/late August. That will be for cases that have been processed AND are current for October, AND have submitted their documents. Then 2NLs will come in a monthly schedule, also late in each month. So – late in September for November interviews and so on.
When are the visa bulletins published?
The visa bulletins are published around the 8th to the 15th of each month. If you call KCC they will always respond that it is released on the 15th. They are not “late” until the 16th. Usually I get people lamenting “the sky is falling” and “why are they so late” around the 10th or 11th. That will happen every month – and no matter how many times I explain, people are impatient. But please understand this is very predictable – there WILL be a new VB every month, between the 8th and the 15th. Every month.
“My case number is XXXX when will I be scheduled?”
Oh man. These questions are tiring. I really expect people to use some thought process about this, and if you can’t do that, then asking me to think for you is not going to be warmly welcomed by me. I have made available more than enough information to get an idea of how scheduling works, but remember, cases are scheduled according to ALL the following three things.
- The case number. No case will EVER be scheduled until the case number is ready.
- DS260 submission. Until the DS260 is submitted AND PROCESSED, you will not be scheduled.
- Submitted documents to KCC (new process). Until your documents are submitted to KCC you will not be processed. Read about the new procedure here.
How do KCC schedule the cases?
Roughly speaking all interviews are spread out over the year, starting in October and ending the following September. KCC release numbers via the visa bulletin to say which case numbers can be interviewed. Check out this article to understand how to read the visa bulletin.
KCC will increase the number made current on each region at a pace that ensures they have enough interviews to match the embassy capacity during each month.
So – to take an example. If OC had a highest case number of 1000, we could roughly expect to see that number increase by 100 each month. It might be 75 one month and 125 the next, but you get the general idea – it is a slow progression over the year.
Will there be a second draw?
In some years it is possible that there would be a small second draw around September/October. However, it would only be a small number of cases – so chances of being in that selection are very small. However, given the high case numbers we are seeing, there is almost no chance of a second draw for DV2020.
Please learn to be self sufficient about this point. This site has LOTS of information. Please apply some common sense and think before asking a question.
You can look at the historical visa bulletin numbers from previous years to get an idea how things work. However, every year is different, so I would suggest only taking a look at DV2018 to try and anticipate when your number will be scheduled for interview. **Please** do that rather than asking me to predict your interview date. Use some judgment and common sense to allow me to spend my time on people that need help with more critical questions.
Selectees, cases and case numbers
OK – so there is some confusion about this – so let me cover it here.
When the selectee numbers are published (in the July or August visa bulletin there is a number shown for each country within each region. That number is the number of *selectees – INCLUDING derivatives*. So – if a winner was single, that is one selectee on one case number. If the winner was married and had one child, that would count as three selectees. The global quota of visas is 50,000, so if the three person family were to be approved, that is 3 out of 50,000.
Each winner gets a case number. The derivatives are on that same case number. Each region has it’s on set of case numbers – so there can be an AF1, AF2, AS1, AS2, EU1 and EU2 ands so on. So when you tell me your case number is case number 12345 – it is meaningless. I need the year and region.
As I explain in this post about holes theory – the case numbers assigned have “holes” (or gaps between them). So – case number 2019EU20000 does NOT have 19999 cases in front of them. The number will be less. However, there may be less case numbers – but each case has the selectee and derivatives.
To understand your “place in the line”, you have to understand the density of cases, number of derivatives on each case, how many cases will respond, how many will be approved and so on. There is a lot to understand. I wrote a series of articles a couple of years ago – and all can be understood by reading those – start with density analysis, and use the links at the bottom of that article to get to the others. The analysis was specific to DV2016 – but the principles are the same.
In the first few months of the new program year we don’t have much data. In January we get access to the CEAC data and then we will understand a lot more. The CEAC data is all the case status info for every case – but again we will not have DV2020 CEAC data until January 2020. In the meantime, you can see excellent visualizations of the DV2018 and 2019 data at the site maintained by a smart guy call Xarthisius. The site illustrates well the density, response rate and so on, which are things you will hear me explain (and can read about on my site).
How many visas can be issued for DV2020? How about XXX country?
According to the published information, there are 50,000 visas available globally. However, the visas are allocated through a quota system to each region. They are NOT allocated by country. However, no one country can receive more than 7% of the global allocation. – so regions have an allocation of the 50,000 global quota. This is explained in more detail here.
Can DV2019 be stopped by Trump/Republicans/Aliens?
This was fully detailed in this post from August 2017. Since then, Trump and the Republicans have continued to achieve almost nothing, and there has been no credible progress toward immigration law changes. Please read that article, and don’t ask me the same questions again until an actual real law is passed.
GROUND RULES for BritSimonSays.com
I don’t work for the government, I don’t get paid for this. I work for a living and I sleep sometimes. So – I expect people to respect my time. That means the following “rules” exist on my site.
- Read the DV lottery guide. It includes a link to my guide on how to complete the DS260, an overall rough idea of the process and so on.
- READ the FAQ (frequently asked questions). If you ask me a question that is covered in the FAQ, you are wasting my time. Please help me help you and others that need help
- Learn how to use the search feature and translation features of this site.
- Post your questions in English. Like many of you, I am multilingual but English is a common language – and most Americans ONLY speak English, and mostly, not very well 😉
- If asking multiple questions, number your questions and consider how I can answer the question. Consider how I can answer with a simple yes or no or short answer – you will find I ALWAYS answer questions like that, because you considered how to make the answer easy for me to give. Give me enough detail to answer the question without making me read about your life history for 10 minutes. I do ignore some rambling questions that send me to sleep…
- Do NOT post “are you sure” type questions – I simply HATE that. It is a huge waste of my time to have to deal with that type of follow up. Read my answer 10 times if you need, but unless you are CONVINCED I misunderstood or answered incorrectly, don’t ask me the same thing I just answered.
- Post your question once and wait for a reply. Sometimes your post won’t show up on the public page until I approve it. That doesn’t mean you should post the same question 5 more times. Just wait.
- If following up to a question you already asked – use “REPLY” to keep the questions in context. I see an administrators view of the questions – I don’t always see that one question is close to your previous question, but I am able to jump to the thread if you use reply.
- Don’t expect me to know everything about life in all the countries around the world. You may not have left country A – but you should consider that the world does not all work the same way as country A.
- Tell the truth. Don’t lie to me. I hate it – and it is pointless. This process requires honesty. So do I.
- Keep your data private. Your case number should be quoted with region and year, but you don’t need to give me, or anyone else, a precise number. Give a range by “X-ing out” the last few digits. So – if your number is 2019AF000012345, you can quote your number as 2019AF12XXX. That tells me you are about the 12000 to 13000 range in AF region in 2019.
- Every year I get a few characters that drive me nuts. There is the person that asks every single question that pops into their head. If someone is making use of the info here, that should not be necessary. Take some responsibility for your own case. Second I get some smartasses that get uppity with me over one thing or another. I could argue for England, I enjoy a good argument, but this isn’t the place for that and I am too busy. I will not hesitate to delete messages I find annoying or damaging to other people’s chances. Some people are amazed when I do that – but this is my blog. If you want to argue because you think you know better, just find somewhere else to do that. I’m not interested in feeding your ego, and I don’t care if you think I am arrogant, mean, a tyrant or whatever. Really – I don’t care, so those “accusations” don’t hurt me.
- This space reserved for any other rules I think of, whenever I think of them.

There are many news outlets reporting the changes to the travel ban and it appears to be accurate. However, the proclamation itself has not been made available yet – so I am going to wait until I see that to advise on specifics.

Of course you need to wait. You may not be scheduled until next month for June interviews.
February 3, 2020 at 00:53
Hey Brit, thanks for the great work.
With all the new rules. What does USCIS mean by extended vacation abroad. Like what do they mean?!! The time period.
The other thing, how do I declare that I am an immigrant while filing my taxes?
How is that done?
Thanks. I will wait to hear from you.
Have a goodnight ?
February 3, 2020 at 17:12
What is the context for your first question.
Regarding taxes – I am not an accountant.
February 21, 2020 at 17:33
Hi
We arrived in the States on 13 Dec 2019. I am aware that there is a rule that we should not exceed 180 days before being back. Does this apply for the first year? Considering that our children are finishing off with certain exams before we finally move? Is there some leniency in the first year as we organise our stuff to move?
February 21, 2020 at 20:58
There is a FAQ article about this. It’s worth reading.

March 1, 2020 at 21:42
You will most likely get a late March 2NL, May interview.
March 3, 2020 at 01:27
Hello, My number is EU 26XXX. Am I too late to submit my DS260 Form? Thank you.
March 3, 2020 at 05:01
No.
March 3, 2020 at 09:10
Hello Sir Brit, it’s me again. We have been schedule for an interview coming month. My wife was the applicant and i am the derivative.
My question is, with regards to the newly introduced form ie DS-5540. My wife isn’t working now although we all graduated from the Tertiary. I begun working right away. Please I want to ask, is she to file the new form which is the DS 5540 ?.
Our interview is nigh and we need urgent answer on what to do please.
Thanks Brit
March 3, 2020 at 19:12
She will probably be asked for the 5540 – you could also complete a form.

March 3, 2020 at 22:31
Hi Brit. I had AP case since November 2019. Today when I checked ceac, it has been updated to Refused with below comment
—A U.S. consular officer has adjudicated and refused your visa application. Please follow any instructions provided by the consular officer. If you were informed by the consular officer that your case was refused for administrative processing, your case will remain refused while undergoing such processing. You will receive another adjudication once such processing is complete. Please be advised that the processing time varies and that you will be contacted if additional information is needed. For more information, please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV or the website for the Embassy or Consulate at which you made your visa application.—
I havent get any email or phone call from embassy with explainations. Is it final decision? Or it may change again if they decide so.
This is how they respond to our cases with no explanation?
March 3, 2020 at 22:39
That is unfortunate. I don’t know the circumstances of your case – so I can’t tell you why the decision was taken, or whether it is final.
March 3, 2020 at 22:53
So – I searched and found that you had a similar outcome on a prior win. You told me that you were refused on a DV2017 case because of your criminal history. It’s likely that the same issue was the cause of this refusal.

March 4, 2020 at 06:01
Hi Brit. Thanks for researching. 3 years ago case was my cousins case. Based on the ceac data that you shared few days ago. I copied at that data for THT(Tashkent) embassy. There were around 85 AP cases at that day. Today I checked most of them. All of them are charged to Refused.
March 4, 2020 at 23:15
There appears to have been a lot of cases updated from AP to refused. AP is a type of refusal, but one that is temporary and means there is still some decision to be made. I think there may have been a system error or perhaps this is a new way they are reporting AP cases. It is doubtful in my mind that these cases have actually all been refused.
March 9, 2020 at 19:31
Hello Sir Brit, please with regards to the i-134. My wife is the applicants but she knows no one in the USA. I made my uncle who lives in the file for the forms for us but made me the main person and my wife as the accompanying one.
Please would that be an issue at our interview?
2. Both my wife and myself don’t have any property together in our name since we just completed Tertiary . I happen to be the only one working some few months ago.
Pls would that be an issue at the consulate ?.
We have no much income, no asset to prove.
March 9, 2020 at 22:50
Get him to rework it.
March 9, 2020 at 23:57
2. Should not be a problem.
March 14, 2020 at 16:14
Hello, I made a typo in my email address in DS260 Form. Does it cause a big problem? How can I fix it?
March 14, 2020 at 16:54
You can ask KCC to unlock. Whether you need to or not depends on what data it is and how big is the typo.
March 14, 2020 at 17:09
It was just a single letter typo on the email address. If I keep it like that, will be any problem?
March 14, 2020 at 17:30
Well, you might not get emails from them – so I would correct that.
March 15, 2020 at 07:04
Hello Brit, today I saw this article from the us ambassy from Dakar:
The U.S. Embassy has suspended most routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments. We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but we are unable to provide a specific date at this time.
What can I do in this case?
I am schedduled for 26 March, finished my physical examination.
March 15, 2020 at 16:08
So they will probably cancel your interview. Wait to hear from them.
March 17, 2020 at 08:14
Okay sir, but when the situation become normal, will they send us a new appointment?
March 20, 2020 at 07:14

March 22, 2020 at 16:07
Read the FAQ.
March 22, 2020 at 11:48
Hi Brit
I hope you are well as your wife and family.
I’d like to know your opinion.
Probably you don’t know more of me or others but I really trust in your prediction and thoughts so I want to know your opinion.
America is my big dream from when I was only a child.
Now, I am current in the last vb and I was , and am, so happy of that.
I am 27k, but I received my confirmation email the day of release of VB, so my interview will be in June.
Do you think , When embassy reopen, they will be able to do interview also for people of June?
I come from an European country with few cases selected (Italy, only 220 selected) do you think Italian embassy could schedulate all the interview remaining in the same month or in the last months remaining? For example All the interview in July, August and September without separate March , April, May , June? Or do you think they will continue to interview into different months? For example March (interviews are only 4 to do) in June ? Or they could accorpate April (10 Italians that have to do interview) and March in one month for example?
I hope you understand what I am saying.
Sorry but I repeat, I always follow your blog and your words and all of them have come true. For example you said all should have the possibility to do an interview and now that is only May we are already at 30k. Even if now there is this virus, but this is not predictable.
So I am really interested to know your opinion.
I know all of us have to wait and see, how you said always, but how you know this process is really stressful and your opinion could make me feel better.
Thanks!
March 22, 2020 at 16:10
When you write multiple questions, number them.
I have no idea when embassies will reopen, and how much work there will be when they do.
Italy is more affected than any other country by COVID, so there might be impacts in Italy for longer than other countries.
It would be foolish to try and predict anything at all at the moment.
March 23, 2020 at 00:10
Hi Brit,
In this extreme days, is there any advantage to do Adjustment of Status instead of Consular Processing?
Thank you
March 23, 2020 at 02:24
Yes.
March 23, 2020 at 08:36
What do you mean
April 20, 2020 at 16:14
Hey man, did you file your AOS yet? I am waiting for the next VB to send out my application, I’m not sure if I would make it in time to get everything done by Sept.
March 23, 2020 at 12:59
My case number is 52,000 in dv2020. What are the chances of me getting a visa
March 23, 2020 at 14:36
I don’t know.
March 26, 2020 at 13:14
I am DV 2020 winner and waiting for interview
IsS DV 2020 selection interview may be canceled or postpone due to the COVID 19 outbreak?
March 26, 2020 at 14:54
Embassies are closed right now, so yes there are postponements of interviews.
March 28, 2020 at 17:44
I submit my Ds260 that states I request adjustment of status. When should I pay $330 fee for that. Can you please give some information about it.
Thank you
April 9, 2020 at 07:49
Greetings sir, I heard DV2020 winners have been postponed, to have not received any mail, please where can I get genuine information about it… Will they mail me..? Thanks for your kind attention
April 9, 2020 at 13:09
Embassies are all closed right now, so interviews in March, April and May were cancelled. Some embassies are starting to reschedule those appointments in late May, on the assumption that they will be able to open their offices by then (although that is not certain). We don’t know how KCC will handle scheduling of remaining cases, or how they handle the VB number. So – best advice – wait and see.

I am preparing my own adjustment of status packet. Is hiring an immigration lawyer recommended for this? Although I feel like I have answered and provided all required evidence to be sent, I don’t feel fully confident. My number would be eligible to apply for AOS in the upcoming bulletin, hiring a lawyer would also eat up on the time that I could apply to USCIS since the lawyer would take some time to prep my packet all over again.

Hi
We got our green cards in March, but have not made our final move to the US and are still away. Had planned to travel there in early May, but it is looking unlikely since we have no available flights to the US at the moment. What do you think of our situation?
April 23, 2020 at 04:48
You have to be more clear in your question.
April 23, 2020 at 19:49
What I wanted to know is this… if we have the green card but are not the States, are we OK? or are we included in Trump’s executive order.
Thanks
April 23, 2020 at 21:32
Not affected.
April 24, 2020 at 08:49
How can i check the result of Dv programe
April 24, 2020 at 14:23
You have to wait until the results are released which might be in June now.
April 25, 2020 at 08:51
I was scheduled for an interview on April 1st and due to pandemic situation, embassy cancelled the interview. Now that all cases are made current, will there be priority for rescheduled cases or they’ll schedule all cases again? I was notified by call and email from US embassy of Nepal and they have not asked me to fill any sort of online form.
April 25, 2020 at 14:05
I don’t know how individual embassies will prioritize their work.

Hello Mr. Simon.
After asking Kcc for document confirmation i received this answer : “Your DS-260 has been processed. You should have received, or will soon receive, an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing. Please follow the instructions in the email.”
What does this mean in the function of case process ?
Thank you in advance
April 28, 2020 at 18:15
That means you need to check that your documents are complete and possibly send them again. I would suggest you contact KCC by phone.
April 29, 2020 at 13:25
M getting this email from kcc:
Due to the novel COVID-19 outbreak all interviews for the DV program have been suspended, it is undetermined when scheduling will resume.
So i don’t understand why they are publishing new visa bulletin
April 29, 2020 at 14:19
To get ready for July.

Hi, İm from Azerbaijan.İ am winner of GC dv lottery 2019. My case number is somewhere around 50K.(50000) Due to the Corona Virus all the borders are closed. How much I have chance to being invited to get Visa meeting and go to America??
May 7, 2020 at 20:02
If you have a DV2020 case, have submitted your DS260 AND submitted your documents, then you have a chance. I can’t “quantify” that chance.
May 7, 2020 at 15:26
Dear Brit,
I’m scovia one of the selected Applicant for DV2020 from Uganda . My queries are as below;
I submitted in all the requested documents to KCCDVdocuments last year in November and received a confirmation email thus expected to receive a response within the estimated time range of 3 – 6 weeks unfortunately I didn’t,up to date I’m still waiting. Kindly let me know if they will reply via my email or not?
Other questions; If KCC doesn’t respond within the estimated time range, does it mean that I didn’t qualify for the visa interview?
How long does KCC take to verify the requested documents and also schedule the interview date?
Thanks and Regards,
Scovia Akullo
May 7, 2020 at 21:03
I suggest you email or phone KCC to check they are satisfied with the documents. They may not be able to give a conclusive answer yet – so you might need to follow up in early June.

Hello Saimon
I have a question regarding Ds260. Do I need my child’s passport information while filling out the Ds260 form ?? Also do I need my police report from a country in which I lived for 2 years , 4 years back ? Also what if I don’t have a proper vaccination records , will that affect me while filling out the ds260 ?
Thank you in advance !
May 10, 2020 at 14:05
Please number questions in future.
1. You do not need the passport to complete the form. You can use a parents passport and change it later.
2. Yes. THat would be clear if you had read the instructions.
3. No
June 4, 2020 at 14:07
Dear Simon,
Hope you are doing well. My CN is 2020AF53XXX. I have received the below email from KCC on 1st of June after i asked whether they are satisfied with the documents. So based on your experience, can you please let me know if they are referring to the 2nd NL? even if the ban is effective?
“Your DS-260 has been processed. You should have received, or will soon receive, an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing. Please follow the instructions in the email. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing.”
I did not receive any email yet.
I have watched your video today and as there is less and less chances to get interviews, i just wanted you to help me understand their reply.
Just for info, in Feb, they answer was the following:
“Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Once the Kentucky Consular Center has finished processing your DS-260, you will receive an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing.”
Thank you in advance
June 4, 2020 at 17:29
It’s just a standard reply that means your documents are not yet processed, and possibly not received. If I were you, I would call them in a few days.
June 4, 2020 at 18:12
I will. Thank you for the advice.
June 6, 2020 at 09:02

Hello Britsinon! I Think following your page brings the good luck 🙂 today we become a DV lottery winners which feels soooooo good. I have to questions:
1- My wife who won the dv lottery 2021 was also a winner in 2017 but unfortunately she made an unintentional mistake and applied as single while we were married. Anyhow our case became disqualified at the interview at the embassy. Can that affect us this time?
2- If we submit our DS260 application now would that help to get earlier interview? Just to consider that our nr is ××××8302.
Thanks a lot.
June 7, 2020 at 09:27
I am DV2020 winner. My case number is 2020AS00025XXX. My next step is interview.
I want to know
1. which month should I expect a E-mail from KCC regarding the interview date?
2. Which month the interview will be held?
3. How do I know my supplied documents are complete and correct
June 7, 2020 at 14:21
Embassies are closed right now, so no cases are being scheduled and that is creating a risk for all remaining cases. Once the embassies are reopened they will try and schedule as many cases as possible, but it is clear that some people will miss out.
June 7, 2020 at 12:29
Hi. I’m dv21 winner my cn 42xxx. I don’t have passport yet. I can submit ds260 without the passport first, when I’ll the passport I’ll add it???
June 7, 2020 at 14:53
No. Wait until you have the passport. However, this year the rules changed to require people to add their passport details in the entry. If you selected an exemption for the passport that you were not entitled to, you will probably be disqualified. So only proceed if you fully understand that and are prepared to risk losing the fees.
June 7, 2020 at 14:48
What happens to those who might miss out cause it won’t be their fault?
June 7, 2020 at 15:01
Do you mean DV2020? Unfortunately there is nothing they can do.
June 7, 2020 at 15:40

1. No – as long as she was accurate in this years application.
2. Well that is a low number, so yes you could submit now. But even then your interview won’t be before October/November.
June 7, 2020 at 16:07
Thanks a lot man, you are the best.
June 7, 2020 at 18:55
Hi Brit do you know if I can send my DS-260 right now? It’s not working for me yet. The number is not valid righ no.
Thank you
June 7, 2020 at 19:35

June 10, 2020 at 16:10
Hi dear sir ,
Pakistan is illegible country for dv lottery. What do u think when did pakistan will include in dv lottery.?

June 13, 2020 at 04:44
Hi Brit:
I’m 2021 winner from Cameroon with case No AF852xx
1) I lost the passport I played with. What should I do?
2) I’m a female but mistakenly filled male during playing. What should I do?
June 13, 2020 at 05:09
That number is very high, so don’t do anything until we know more about selectee numbers.
1. You would need to prove that you had a valid passport. And of course present a new one.
2. Ask yourself if you really have the abilities needed to move to a new country.
June 21, 2020 at 20:26
Hi BritSimon the information entries invalid when I check dv 2021
June 21, 2020 at 21:00

July 1, 2020 at 16:55

July 1, 2020 at 19:57

June 22, 2020 at 11:31

Hi Brit,
my Brother in law is a winner through the chargeability of my sister for DV2020. Their case is current now but are stuck with closed embassy and time running out.
Is there a way to leverage their application for myself + family as I am currently in the US on a work visa? We share the same country of birth.

Hi Sir,
I’m a DV 2020 winner…I got visa and entered USA a month ago. I am waiting for SSN and Green Card. My visa will expire in July 2nd.
My queries are;
1. Do the Trump proclamation impact me?
2. I heard (not from official source) USCIS hold on green card application, do this hold impact on my green card?
Thanks in advance.
June 30, 2020 at 18:47
1. No
2. No
June 30, 2020 at 18:01
Hi Britsimon.
I’m student in US by F1 visa, it’s almost 6 months since I arrived, and I just won the 2021 DV lottery while I’m in US, so how can I proceed with the process in US. What would you suggest?
Thankfully.

Read the link below, pay attention to the spreadsheet linked from the first post.

Hi Sir, my sister is a DV 2020 winner. She was call for an interview on March 17, 2020 and was success. she was told to pick up her Visa on March 24, 2020 due to the Corona pandemic, she received a call to wait until further notice on March 21, 2020.
My question is, will she receive VISA anytime when the embassy is open?
July 1, 2020 at 00:08
No. The ban has blocked visas. So unless the ban is challenged successfully, she will not get the visa.
July 1, 2020 at 16:19
Thank you for the response!!
The other thing is, do I need a sponsor for the process of the AOS? If so is the person required to have higher income and Tax?
Thankfully.

Good morning Sir, DV2021
1- Normally, when will the number of selectees and cases be known after the announcement of the result of dv 2021?
2- Do you expect to see the first VB on the mid of August?
3- Do you expect an increase in the VB cases after the ban finishes because till now 3 months are out of interviews?
4- In case the embassies reopen soon, can they do the interviews but not issuing the visas until the ban finishes?
Thank you Sir for your support, God bless you.
July 12, 2020 at 23:06
SP
What would be your advice on the extension of the visa eventhough your visa will expire next month. Would you extend or just move with your family when it is still valid. Especially in the current climate we going through.
July 13, 2020 at 04:21
If you have a way to travel now, I would do that rather than risk getting approved for an extension.
