Thank you
December 18, 2017 at 17:50
Put the 1st day of the month when you were current.
December 18, 2017 at 18:39
Did you get the 2NL for February interview?
December 18, 2017 at 18:59
dear Brit , thank you for your support to all the people, my question is we answered in ds260 for this question :-
Have you attended any educational institutions at a
secondary level or above? YES
Highest Level of Education Completed UNIVERSITY DEGREE ,
so we didn’t mentioned to the secondary level in that , so what the solution now & may be our interview very near on April 2018 according to our no. AF14xxx
please your advice.
December 18, 2017 at 19:46
There is a place where you enter the number of educational institutions attended and then document that history, which will include High School.
December 18, 2017 at 20:02
only 1 & fill by University degree only , this in my form & my wife form
so what do think about that please.
December 18, 2017 at 20:24
I told you how it should appear. You should unlock and correct
December 18, 2017 at 20:30
sorry for that but you think i have time to correct or prepare the documents during the interview ?
December 18, 2017 at 20:33
Do it now.
December 18, 2017 at 21:10
I did , sent ,thanks for your advice.
Now after they unlock the case, I should field 2 as a number of institutions attended 1.for secondary school , 2. for university degree ? That’s correct? Thanks again Mr. Brit
December 18, 2017 at 21:33
1 + 1 = 2 total. Then you list each one.
December 20, 2017 at 10:02
Dear Sir,
Just after reading this comment today, 20 Dec, I found out that I made the same mistake on my DS260. I’ll be current in February 2018. What best I do. Sir, please advise me. Thank you very much.
December 20, 2017 at 15:26
If you can unlock and correct, do that.
December 18, 2017 at 19:01
Dear BritSimon
My interview date is set on January 4, 2018 but my medical result is held up for further check up and I am told to reschedule my interview date after February 23 2018 on the website I registered .However ,when I sign in the link doesn’t allow me to change the date ” https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ke/iv/” and it shows my current status for interview .
As usua,l I need your advice on how to do If possible before the interview date
Regards
Jack
December 18, 2017 at 19:45
I don’t know how to reschedule an appointment via that website.
December 18, 2017 at 19:13
Hi Brits,1. Will the increase in number of some regions of the selectee affect the 2018 and 19 applicants.
2.is the drawal carried out every year or some years the system changes due to the number of applicants and selectees?Thank you.
December 18, 2017 at 19:44
1. DV2018 has nothing to do with DV2019. But yes – there was an increase of selectees in DV2018 compared to DV2016 and DV2017. Selecting more people means there is a possibility that some selectees will never become current (won’t get an interview) because too many people were selected.
2. The draw is performed each year. Number of entries changes and number of selectees. Each year is different.
December 18, 2017 at 19:52
Hello sir, please I just want to ask around which number will there b a cutoff for Africa? I am so worried. Please I need an answer. Thanks sir.
December 18, 2017 at 19:58

December 18, 2017 at 20:07
Is there any hope of suspending the Trump decision to ban travel from the six Islamic countries?
When will that be?
December 18, 2017 at 20:24
I don’t know.
December 18, 2017 at 20:46
Dear Britsimon When will the 2NL for February Interviews being sent?
December 18, 2017 at 20:53
https://britsimonsays.com/visa-bulletin-february-2018-interviews-released/
December 18, 2017 at 21:20
Hi Brit, I am current for February interview and waiting for 2NL at the moment, I sent email to kcc on 9th December to unlock ds260(originally sent in May) and later that day I told them to unlock if it doesn’t cause any delays or if I can correct at interview . But after all I think they couldnt even unlock it because it was that period just after VB has been released when the case is scheduled in their system so ds260 is locked. Should I tell the CO before interview and tell him my name before marriage or let the interview go as usual because honestly it is pretty obvious we don’t have anything to hide because original name is on birth certificate.
December 18, 2017 at 21:34
You can bring it up in the interview.
December 18, 2017 at 23:29
Hi Brit, I am finally in the US. Thank you so much for your invaluable support during the process.I was DV 2017 winner. It’s been almost three weeks since I moved here. I was wondering if there is a way for me to see my status regarding my SSN and Green card arrival? I have a new address and I gave this new address to the immigration officer at the airport. Thank you again.
December 18, 2017 at 23:39
For the GC you just have to be patient.
For the SSN, you can visit the SSA office.
December 19, 2017 at 00:40
Sir do we need to enter primary school also in ds260 where it is asked about no. Of educational institutions attended or just secondary and tertiary.
Thanks in advance
December 19, 2017 at 06:25
The form specifies secondary and above.
December 19, 2017 at 07:17
I give thanks to my God and secondly to you brits for your guidance.our visas were approved this morning.
December 19, 2017 at 08:47
Congradulation Floridah, Where are you life? what is your case number?
December 19, 2017 at 09:24
Hi there, congratulations on your visas! In your previous post, you had shared that you had used DV 2017 photos in your original entry. Would you please confirm if that was the case and if the photos were mentioned to you at the interview? I apologise in advance if I am mistaken that it was you with the photos. I would be extremely grateful for your information as my husband won with DV 2017 photos and we are very worried. Thank you very much!
December 19, 2017 at 15:35
I have not heard of a single refusal for the DV2017 photos – and I believe I would have done by now if those refusals were happening.
December 19, 2017 at 15:43
Thank you, Simon, I kind of thought the same thing as there have been people with many different reasons for refusal that have already shared their stories here. I believe in your logic, thanks.
December 19, 2017 at 15:39
Congratulations!
December 19, 2017 at 07:47
hi Brit! thank you for valuable help. i have one question….after approval is there any way that CO change his/her mind to deny somebody a visa? my friend approved and they kept his passport up to them. but still not returned back…its more than 8 business days.
December 19, 2017 at 15:38
The approval is not certain until the visa is in your hand.
December 19, 2017 at 08:52
Sir thanks for your great generosity in helping all the selectees. My problem is that my academic records has a additional letter in my middle name which is not in the birth certificate. I didn’t correct it as it was done from my primary school. Now since I am selected i realised that it could be a problem.
1.Should I add this middle name with a extra letter in my other names?
2. I have already one other name with my father’s surname in others names section thus this name will make it two other names. Can it be possible denial for the interview?
3. Any suggestions what shall I do?
Thanks for the understanding and helping.
December 19, 2017 at 15:37
1. Yes
2. No
3. RELAX.
December 19, 2017 at 10:03
Hi Simon,
Is it a good idea to email the local embassy and ask how much money one should have when he comes to prove that he won’t be a public charge?
I have heard that they asked from someone $100k for family of 2 here in the local embassy and I don’t have such high amount (I have $35k for family of 2).
I can’t get I-134 at all.
I am really anxious about losing the green card because of this requirement!
Thanks!
December 19, 2017 at 10:55
Hi, would you mind sharing the location of the embassy that you heard been through that 100k funds
Thanks
Nis
December 19, 2017 at 15:14
Which embassy?
December 19, 2017 at 15:19
It’s Jerusalem’s embassy
December 19, 2017 at 15:42
OK – so I haven’t heard about that embassy asking for 100k specifically. 35k would normally be enough – although an I-134 is always safer. You must remember though that the requirement is decided by the CO on a case by case basis. Other factors (such as age, employment history, education, relationships with people already in the USA) could all factor in to the decision. So – attend the interview, and if what you present does not satisfy them you will be given additional time to obtain an I-134.
December 19, 2017 at 10:21
What is the meaning of ceac data?can be guss what is the last case no ill got interview??
December 19, 2017 at 15:14

December 19, 2017 at 11:00
Hello Simon,
I have a question regarding changetting of address at port of entry. My sponsor lives in xxx state and I want to go to yyy state. Is it possible to do so ? Is it alright to just change my address at yyy state”s port of entry without any sponsor letter ? If no, what should I do ?
Thanks
December 19, 2017 at 15:12
Yes that is fine – no problem.
December 19, 2017 at 16:06
Thank you Simon for the great work.
December 19, 2017 at 11:47
hallo sir, if the last person to receive second notification for July interview, so kcc will stop sending notification letters which month?
December 19, 2017 at 15:10
The last 2NLs are sent in July (September interviews).
December 19, 2017 at 14:00
Hi! I live in DRC. I have a seki biometric passport as they call it, valid till 2020, but that will be invalidated on January 14th 2018 because of some political problems. I already paid for a new one (biometric as called) but dont have it in hand for the moment. My interview in on January 8th.
When applying for ds 260 i entered the old (semi biometric) passport number. Now i have to confirm my interview and have to write my passport number, what passport number should i write? The old one? Because my visa should be put in the new passeport any way. Dont know what to do.. thanks..
December 19, 2017 at 15:07
Well you only have one passport number at the moment – so the answer is obvious!
December 20, 2017 at 10:17
Thank you. really obvious yes.
But I may get the new one tomorrow, if i get it should i put the new passport number or still use the old one ?
December 20, 2017 at 15:25
Again. Obvious. Please use some common sense.
December 19, 2017 at 14:08
After long and stressful period of wait between May when I won green card and now, 2 weeks after the interview with an innitial denial (221g), I have finally received visas today for my wife and myself. There is always a hope, it was a touch and go, but we prevailed.Thank you Simon for all your advise and guidance, it was very informative and useful so we were prepared for the interview the best way possible and the outcome is what we have always wished for. Best of luck to everyone , hope it goes well, and for those who have a rough ride ahead of them don’t despair.
December 19, 2017 at 15:05
Congratulations
December 20, 2017 at 18:17
Congratulations. Hope you get to live your dream. Glad all got resolved. In retrospect do you think it would be easier if you went for interview back home in Bratislava?
December 19, 2017 at 15:16
Hey Brit
Asia Total selectee 2018=16k
Now visa bulletin showing =4050
Excepted countries =Iran 3,700+Nepal 3,225
16000-(4050+3700+3225)=5025
now only 5025 selectee have chance for coming new visa bulletin ?
can you explain it ?
December 19, 2017 at 15:43
You have everything mixed up. Read this for a start.
https://britsimonsays.com/read-visa-bulletin/
December 20, 2017 at 10:41
non-sense and ill-logical…please use your own common sense rather than wasting others time!!
December 19, 2017 at 15:53
Ok Brit, why visa bulletin going slowly?when visa bulletin will speed up more 1000 cases monthly?
how many Asia peoples ill face interview this 2018 year?
December 20, 2017 at 04:28
Read some of my recent posts.
December 19, 2017 at 17:43
Hi Brit,
I would appreciate your support.
Me and my wife are DV 2018 winner and in January I have my interview. I have a question related to my case. My sponsor will be my brother and his wife. Their income for 2016 is above the poverty guideline. The 2016 Tax declaration was jointly and my brother was the maid declarer . My concern is that for 2016 my brother (as main declarer) was not for the full year working since he was settling his own business. For 2017 his income is fine but since there is no tax declaration for 2017 he can not prove his income. What should I do, whom should I report as sponsor my brother or his wife since she is in regular labor relation in 2017 and in 2016 (and also her Gross income only, is above poverty guideline)? Can I apply for joint sponsor as married couple?
Thank you.
December 19, 2017 at 18:18
If her income is enough then use her income alone. BUT – it needs to be above the poverty line for ALL of you (her family and your family, combined).
December 19, 2017 at 20:01
How many times it is safe to unlock your Ds260 for amendment. Will unlocking serval times create problem.
December 19, 2017 at 20:03
175 times is safe.
December 19, 2017 at 20:10
Thanks sir. God bless you for your help.
December 19, 2017 at 21:51
Hi Brit my mom won DV 2018 and we are waiting for 2 NL at the moment. I am in 12th grade and want to quit school soon because I really want to do 12th grade in USA and if I still stay enrolled here it’s a waste of money because teachers here do coaching with every student during off-school schedule for money . At the interview will they ask any documents from my school to see that I still go to school. All I can offer them is 1st-11th grade transcripts (completed grades). I will turn 18 in Fenruary at interview.
December 19, 2017 at 21:55
In my country 11th and 12th grades are not mandatory but still, to graduate high school you need 12.
December 19, 2017 at 22:33
As you are a derivative, you will not need to show education proof. However, stay in school until you move to the USA.
December 19, 2017 at 23:05
Hello again Brit. How are you?
I found a job in US as manager in my friend`s shop. I want to ask you that what kind of a work contract would help me if I show the embassy in interview?
Thank you!
December 19, 2017 at 23:20
ONLY discuss this job offer if it is COMPLETELY real. And if it is completely real, you don’t need to know anything from me about what work contract it would need to be.
December 20, 2017 at 00:35
it is completely real. The employer is a friend of mine and his company is a small scale one. The thing is he hasn’t employed anyone in this way before with job offer letter etc. Actually, my friend has two shops and kiosks in two malls and he is looking for a manager for them.
I want to ask that would this kind of a job have a good impact on my behalf? And if it would so to get max. impact which kind of documents do I need to have in the interview?
December 20, 2017 at 04:26
You see, this won’t stand up to scrutiny. You say your friend is looking for a “manager”, when he hasn’t employed anyone before. So who will the “manager” manage???
Please, trust my judgement, don’t try and make more of this job offer than it really is – it is too easy to discover the truth.
December 20, 2017 at 02:43

No. Have a look for yourself.
December 21, 2017 at 11:48
Hi Dear,
I have read most of your posts. Is there any expectation for the situation in Asia after the travel ban decision. Almost 6000 out of 15999 selectees have been banned. Meaning, this should have a huge affect on the the visa bulletin progress in Asia. Which is not yet observed yet. So when do you think the speed will gradually increase? May be after the final decision of the travel ban. If after the final decision, then when the final decision will be taken.
Regards
Adel
December 21, 2017 at 19:40
The people currently affected by the ban might be able to get waivers or might have dual citizenship, OR the ban might be removed. So – the selectees are still being scheduled for interviews, and the VB might or might not speed up because of this. As usual – “wait and see” is the only smart answer.
December 21, 2017 at 22:17
Hello,
Thank you for your reply. Sure I have to wait and see. Cause I have no other option! One more question is there a date for the travel ban update.? When they update the status of the travel ban is there a schedule for this update or they just announce the update any time?
Thank you for your cooperation
Regards,
Adel
December 22, 2017 at 00:16
There is no planned update.
December 20, 2017 at 08:16

Hi brit
I hope u doing well
I have a question about DS260 form
in the travel documentation
1. As I told u before I don’t have passport yet. And I asked u how can I fill the travel documentation with out the passport. And u told me to use other official ID then I tried to fill with my nationality ID but my ID doesn’t have expire date, so I couldn’t submit it with the blank of expire date box.
please advise me the best option which helps me to fill the box correctly.
Thanks in advance sir.

December 20, 2017 at 11:25
What is 1NL and 2NL?
December 20, 2017 at 15:22
1NL is selected letter
2NL is the appointment letter.
December 20, 2017 at 11:28
Hello again,
I’m getting ready for the interview with my wife and we discovered that we both made an error on our DS260s. We’re both born in the same hospital in a town 30 min away from were we grew up and that town has always been listed as Place of Birth on our passports but in our new passports we had to renew it says the town we grew up in. Do you think we should notify the embassy about this or just play it cool and mention it at the interview?
Also, our savings together is in the 25k-ish range with me having the most. Should we transfer the money so it looks more equal or is it the total amount that is interesting?
Thank you.
December 20, 2017 at 15:22
1. It’s not a problem. Don’t “play it” cool, BE cool.
2. No need to transfer.
December 20, 2017 at 16:10
Thank you! Cool as a cat. 🙂
December 20, 2017 at 13:03
The delay for 2nd NL is unusual compared to the previous months. Today is 20th of December. Any update?
December 20, 2017 at 13:51
It’s not unusual just calm down
December 20, 2017 at 15:18
It is not AT ALL unusual.
December 20, 2017 at 16:59
Hey Simon, I have an important question. I received my interview date a couple of weeks ago and my interview is scheduled in 2 weeks. I followed the instructions in my local US Embassy website and it says I should Register my appointment as Step One. When I click on it there are a few choices I can select, and I can’t decide which one of these 2 I should select: (I have received a Consular interview appointment date from the National Visa Center (NVC), Kentucky Consular Center (KCC), or the Consular Section and I have been instructed to register my appointment on this site.) or (I have received a letter to register or schedule a Diversity Lottery visa appointment.) Keep in mind I got my Interview date by email and not mail. Thank you
December 20, 2017 at 17:22
Only one option relates to DV. Choose that.
December 20, 2017 at 17:26
Alright then it’s I have received a letter to register or schedule a Diversity Lottery visa appointment. Thank you man you’re life saver
December 20, 2017 at 20:27
Mr.Simon
If i want to change my interview location ,
1. do I have to unlock my DS260 ? or I just send them an email asking them that with my reason ?
2. is there a specific form or text you suggest for that ?
December 20, 2017 at 20:44
They set the interview based on the current address. So – if you have moved to another country you can unlock and correct that address. Once you have done that you then email them and ask them to schedule at the new embassy.
December 20, 2017 at 22:12
I will move to another country in Feb.2018 and my interview in Mart 2018 so
do I unlock now and correct the address according to the new country address because I know where I will stay there ?
December 21, 2017 at 19:52
Normally you unlock and correct once the change has happened.
December 22, 2017 at 21:08
but my case is not normal because I know from now that my interview will be in Mart 2018 and in Feb 2018 I will be in Italy so I need to change the interview location from now I think because I’m not scheduled yet but the next visa bulletin definitely I will be scheduled, so this is my chance to change it .
so , 1. do I unlock and change my current residence to Italy even if I’m not there yet?
or 2. do I wait until Feb.2018 ( just couple of weeks will be left for my interview ) when I the change happens and ask the embassy to transfer my case to Italy ? I don’t even know if it is easy to transfer it !
Thank you for every thing
I really appreciate it , your advises are really helpful .
December 22, 2017 at 21:22
You can decide between your choices.
December 21, 2017 at 01:35
Brit, my friend filed papers for family reunion for his wife and will his tax file affect for her case?
December 21, 2017 at 19:51
I only answer DV lottery related questions.
December 21, 2017 at 02:30
Hi sir
I am a dv 2018 winner. I went to the interview yesterday with my spouse. I was asked to show her confirmation page for ds260 but I didn’t fill one for her meanwhile we had already paid for the interview fees. I was asked to go and fill her ds260 and rebook another appointment online. Since they had already taken our finger prints
1. How do I proceed to fill it
2. Does it take a lot of time to do it?
3. May it result in refusal?
Kindly advise me.
Thanks
December 21, 2017 at 19:48
You must ask the embassy how they want you to proceed. It is up to them.
December 21, 2017 at 07:51

December 21, 2017 at 09:47
good day Mr Brit
i have the following worries
1) i wish to know the procedure used to unlock the DS260 for corrections,do i just write a mail to KCC asking them to unlock for corrections? if yes how long may it take to be open after my request?
2) Do i need to reprint a new confirmation after correction or just keep the initial one?
3) will this process cause any delays on my case?
thanks for your continues assistance
December 21, 2017 at 19:43
1. Read the FAQ on unlocking
2. Either way.
3. Normally no.
December 21, 2017 at 11:48
About the police reports.
I was born in Romania and lived there for 3-4 years and then I moved to Austria and lived there for 12 years and I was 15 years old and then I moved to England and turned 16. Now I am 19, what police reports do I need from which countries, the information about this I saw on a website is confusing.
December 21, 2017 at 19:41
England, and maybe Romania if you ever went back there after 16
December 21, 2017 at 13:37

December 21, 2017 at 20:45
The selectee gets instructions in their selected letter.
December 21, 2017 at 15:11
Hey Brit, Thank you so much for your blog and all the concern you show in helping DV Winners achieve their “american dream”. I just picked up our passports with printed visas at Embassy. Details in the post i made telling our interview story.
Million thanks again Sir, the world needs more like you.
December 21, 2017 at 15:43
Congrats, where are you moving?
December 21, 2017 at 18:38

Hi Brit just want to know
1) If i am principle winner and have every requirements but my derivative (my husband ) came back from abroad after 5 years of abroad work but he doesnt have PCC from that country .
2 ) we checked the PCC guides as per that country he needs to be present in person for getting the PCC
3 ) can he be eligible if he doesnt have only PCC in that particular country he served

If the reciprocity page says the PCC cannot be obtained, then he does not have to provide it.

Recripocity says It can be obtained from the country where he was before only and he needs to be present there personally for having that PCC
So is it required for him to go back that country and get it

No.

I finished elementary (4 years) and secondary (4 years) school in Austria which is 8 years and after that you are done with school, is that enough for me to be eligible?

Look at this graphic on the Austrian system. According to this – the required education level would be reached at age 18.

HI BRIT HOW ARE YOU, I HAVE A QUESTION, MY HUSBAND IS THE PRINCIPAL APPLICANT HE RECEIVED THE 2NL TODAY, AT THE END OF THE LETTER SAYS BENEFICIARIES: NONE. WHAT IS THAT MEANS?. WILL I RECEIVE A 2NL TOO?
December 21, 2017 at 21:30
It means that he registered in the lottery without you. Presumably you married AFTER the original entry – is that correct?
You will not receive a 2NL, you should contact the embassy and make sure they are expecting you.
December 21, 2017 at 21:33
Yes we got married after that, ok We will try to contact them. Thank you Brit

Hi brit,
My wife is the principal applicant and one of our children resides in the USA as a student. We requested AoS for him. Now we wonder the process for him. will he be interviewed during the same time we have, the required documents for him etc. I couldn’t find enough info. https://www.uscis.gov/greencard/diversity-visa has some information but we are not sure if it is applicable for my son as he is not the winner he is accompanying person. Our interview has been scheduled in February. I appreciate if you can provide a link. thank you
December 21, 2017 at 21:33
He needs to attend the interview with you. If not, he will not be able to adjust status via DV, it will take a couple of years to do a family based process for him.
December 21, 2017 at 21:57
Thank you for the respond. He does not have a valid passport to travel. His passport expired and renewing is not possible. So he has to wait.
December 21, 2017 at 22:05
That’s a pity because a simple quick process will become much longer, more complicated and expensive.
December 22, 2017 at 09:51
I did not understand why they put such an option for family members then. I asked KCC and the embassy for a solution and waiting for an answer. few more questions arised
Will there be any consequences of his nonattendance for our interview. because he is migrating with us but not being interviewed
Can he interview at a later time in the embassy, If so should we wait to migrate until his visa issued
thank you
December 22, 2017 at 15:28
If he doesn’t interview he won’t get the GC. Your only option would then be to sponsor him through family based immigration once you are in the USA. Feel free to discuss options with the embassy, but I doubt anything else will be possible.
