hi simon,
i have questions for you sir.
1- the case numbers selected for Dv 2019 from travel banned countries will be proceed till interview stage or they will simply create holes ?
2- as we know that Iran quota is huge and the case numbers will appear all together under 7000 and Yemen and Syria case numbers will be dispersed within all total numbers due to less quota, is my understanding is right ?
regards n respect
June 2, 2018 at 16:35
1. They are entitled to interviews.
2. Yes
June 2, 2018 at 14:21
Thank you Brit!
I’ll follow your advises.
One last question. Which start date to fill in my previous address, the real one before getting 16y old or the date when got 16y. Exactly the end date is significantly after my 16th
June 2, 2018 at 14:54
Use your own judgement.
June 2, 2018 at 13:30
Thanks Sir!

Mr Simon. What is the possibility that a diversity visa green card holder who eventually became a US citizen after five years if not married to a US citizen or 3 years if married to a US citizen can later apply for Canadian permanent resident status?
June 2, 2018 at 13:20
I don’t know.
June 2, 2018 at 12:58
Hello Sir, after obtaining visas for my family and me,
1- Can I travel alone and the rest of my family meet me 2 months later?
if so, how to do it?
June 2, 2018 at 13:07
If you are the winner – yes.
All attend the interview, then you travel alone first and they travel later (within the validity of the visa).
June 2, 2018 at 13:16
sorry, but I did not report this to the interview
June 2, 2018 at 13:18
What must I do now
June 2, 2018 at 13:30
So, I just looked up your previous posts. You asked me about including the baby in March. I told you what to do. You obviously didn’t listen to my advice or do anything I said, and now the problem is bigger. Now you want more advice. Why should I waste my time on giving you answers you just ignore?

June 2, 2018 at 14:17
my baby, my wife and I all had the visa.
I plan to travel alone because my wife has to pass her baccalaureate and wait for the results to come out.
and it may take up to 2 months
June 2, 2018 at 14:54
Then make that clear when you ask a question!
As I responded earlier – they can follow you later.
June 2, 2018 at 12:32
Its pretty simple!
WOW for the translation button..
Good luck in your succeeded website..
I think it will add some value to have spelling check as well.

Hello, my passport is valid until December 2019. In our country, it’s hard to extend the passport before six months. If I have time to interview, I’m having problems ???

Hi Brit,
I’m a little bit confused about filling my previous address where I have lived from age of 16th
The problem is that the name of the street has been change three times so far.
1.My question is which name of the street to disclose, the most resent or like it is written in my first identity card
2.Should I fill all changes of the street name including the dates having in mind that it is one and the same address/property. I don’t have memories and documents on that.
3. When I get married I’ve changed my property physically which is my present address so far but I have changed my ID card in one year later (we have long dead line on that). Which beginning month to disclose, when i moved physically or when my new ID card has been issued.
Thank you and best regards !
June 2, 2018 at 13:00
1. Pick one. I would pick the ID card version.
2. Do the best you can.
3. Use your judgement.
June 2, 2018 at 14:18
Thank you Brit!
I’ll follow your advises.

Good morning Brit,
I won dv 2017 and am settle in US now. The case is before i left there was a lady i was with and the lady is no more but the lady had a child without my knowledge and the lady did not inform me before her death. The family made me aware of the child and we did a DNA and it prove that truly am the father of the child.
Unfortunately all these issue came up on the later days i was about to move to the US.
My question Mr. Brit the child is 3years now and i want to file for the child. Will there be any issue please? Thanks for your advice
June 2, 2018 at 12:56
Yes – that could cause problems, because you were supposed to declare the child. You are in the USA now?

Hi Simon, i received a phone call today that was an automated message saying “this is the United States consular affairs your visa application has been rejected” followed by what sounded like an Asian language then repeated twice and hung up. There was an option to select 1 but I did not. Is this a scam? Or a regular process? Please let me know as I am DV2019 and very concerned.

June 1, 2018 at 20:36
Dear Simon
I am a lottery winner for 2018 and I am a citizen of the State of Libya, who was meeting with me yesterday at the US consulate. The consul took my papers and passport and asked me to work as a fingerprint. The Consul then returned the passport and a rejection paper.
other .presidential proclamation 9645
Is this refusal considered final if I lose the opportunity to obtain a visa?
If the travel ban is lifted before 30/9/2018 Can the consulate be contacted and asked to obtain a visa again?
Dear Simon
Please reply to my inquiry
June 1, 2018 at 20:57
If the travel ban is lifted then there may be a chance for your case.
June 1, 2018 at 19:21
If I have had a trial and I have been found innocent. Do I have to exclude innocence in ds-260? Thank you

You simply answer the questions asked in the most literal way.
June 1, 2018 at 19:11
Hi Brit,
Thank you very much for your help & tremendous work you are doing here. Can you please kindly advise, what to put in “Primary Occupation” and “Present Employer” for a person who is a teacher in maternity leave? There is no specific drop-down item for “Maternity leave” where you could indicate your “Primary Occupation” and “Present Employer”, and in the same time make clear for CO that currently we are in maternity leave. Employee in a maternity leave still remains as a employed, but just in a long social leave(maternity leave), so I can not put “homemaker” since it doesn’t reflect real situation. Any bright ideas is appreciated so much.
June 1, 2018 at 20:21
“Employee in a maternity leave still remains as a employed” – bingo.
June 1, 2018 at 18:34
Dear Brit,
is 90000 dollars on one account enough for a couple without affidavit?
where can i find info about additional documents, like proof of relationship etc?
tnx
June 1, 2018 at 18:39
Yes, 90k would normally be enough.
Proof of relationship – really it’s a matter of using some common sense. How do you prove the existence of a relationship to a stranger.
June 1, 2018 at 21:41
What would be considered enough for one person without an affidavit?
I will have about 22k in my bank account by the (possible) time for the interview. Submitted my application may 27th, 2018AF7XXX.
June 1, 2018 at 21:52
That would normally be enough.

Hi Mr Simon
I am from Azerbaijan (Baku )
My wife has won a green card this year
I have been working for 5 months in Qatar but before I have stayed in Qatar ( 2months ) do i need to get information on crime from police department in Qatar?
I have booked my flight today I am flying back home do i need?
June 1, 2018 at 13:57
No
June 1, 2018 at 16:28
Hi Mr Simon
I have read that if you have lived in abroad more than 6months you have to get information on crime from police deparment ???
Totaly i have worked in Qatar (7months)
June 1, 2018 at 17:04
You didn’t read the instructions well enough. You will have left Qatar before the interview – correct – and in that case you need a police report for 12 months of stay, not 6.
Having said that, if you are unsure – get the report!
June 1, 2018 at 09:05

Hi Brit ,
1. is it true that the person sending the affidavit of support must have a lot of money in their saving?
2.their affidavit of support would be considered because they have a good salary or because they have saving or probably a lot of savings?

May 31, 2018 at 17:41
Hi Brit and thanks for your previous replies, it looks like we fXXXXed the previous DV lottery win with the wrong eligibility country and we’ve got only ourselves to blame who would imagined to put Russia as our eligibility country when we escaped from there in 86!
I have two question which you might know the answer to.
1. not that we know that we applied wrong and won AS number instead of EU, anything left to do here? we live in the states, does it worth moving forward with this wrongly filled DV? would a lawyer help here? what would you suggest at this stage ? just sending Kentucky about the mistake we’ve done? not waking the dead? moving forward with the interview hoping they will not check it? any recommendations here?
2. and the more important question and its hard to predict or answer but maybe you have some insights, do you think the fact we’ve won already changes the odds for us to win next time/year?
Thanks,
Vicky
May 31, 2018 at 18:33
1. Nothing to do. No one can help. You cannot be approved, although you are entitled to be told that during an interview if you want to waste your time and money. They will check it – it is the most basic check they do – and in several years I have never known anyone who “slipped through” with this problem.
2. It makes no difference. The lottery is random.
May 31, 2018 at 19:46
What happened here Victoria, I am keen to clarify to be foolproof in future applications. Isnt the country of eligibility the country of Birth, instead of country of current Citizenship?? Unless you have followed path of using your spouses country of birth as the eligibility criteria.
May 31, 2018 at 20:51
Correct we filled it wrong and both of us born in russia and filled Israel by mistake and not knowing.
