Hi Sir Simon
I have been preselected for Dv 2022 i applied with the master and i did a mistake on the ds 260 about my work expérience and i asked them to unlock but still waiting.
Should i send my documents to kcc now or i have to correct first the ds 260 ?
September 6, 2021 at 18:09
You can send now if you want.
September 5, 2021 at 12:59
Hello, I would like to know why the kcc ask for the military card as a document for people who have done the military service and if you have not done the service what document to submit
September 6, 2021 at 18:10
Nevermind why.
If you didn’t do military service, you don’t have to provide it, unless you needed an exemption, in which case you provide that.

Dear Simon,
Kindly help me to sort this out.
We had our interview on 3rd of August and submitted medical on 11th. Due to the curfew imposed by the government, we are unable to contact the embassy and nothing heard from the embassy back.
We could monitor the ceac updates and embassy is working on our cases. Now the status of our case is “issued”. My question is that since we didnt get any feedback from the embassy on our case, is it still possible to change the status of it from issued to another.
We are not sure on the possibility of collecting passports from embassy before 30th of September. Please advise me!
Thank you.

Hello Brit,
can you help me what steps to follow for xn3 stamp i551, because I once read on your web information about this but now you can find
Thank You
September 6, 2021 at 18:12
I don’t know what you are asking.
September 5, 2021 at 19:57
Hi Brit!
As I sent my soft copy documents on last June 29, KCC auto reply email explained that document processing is on going and it takes 3 to 6 weeks. Even if I have to wait for beyond time schedule, yet nothing has been said about my case. What could be the fate for my case number 2021AF74xxx as immigration Visa process ended up on september 30, 2021?
September 6, 2021 at 18:14
Your only hope is the lawsuit.
September 8, 2021 at 17:06
Hi, But Simon, the case is not DQed. so even if the lawsuits are won (similar to DV20 Gomez case) will the DV21 cases that are NOT DQed, have a chance to take visas, after September30th ?
September 9, 2021 at 04:03
Maybe
September 8, 2021 at 14:30
Please I am facing similar issues.
Can we please get in contact ?
September 5, 2021 at 19:57
It’s true that Dv2023 is cancelled
September 6, 2021 at 18:14
Nonsense.
September 5, 2021 at 22:06
Hello Brit. I completed the ds260 on July 1st. I am the winner of dv 2022. Do you think that there will be more chances for someone who has the biggest case number but who has completed ds260 before July 1st. Thank you
September 6, 2021 at 18:15
Case number is still important unless the region goes current.
September 7, 2021 at 05:00
Hi brit Simon
Can i send both old and new scanned passports for document submission?
Because my entry passport is old and my ds-260 passport was new.
September 9, 2021 at 03:21
Yes
September 6, 2021 at 03:53
Hi I already apply for a waiver and waiting for respond, but still confused and I don’t want to go back home.. as I told you im a Dv2022 and my case number is AF33xxx and my j1 visa will be expired at March….and that time my case number may not be currently… can you please advise me what can i do so that i can remain in US legally without go back home and waiting for my interview??
September 6, 2021 at 18:16
I don’t know what you can do about your current stay.
September 6, 2021 at 05:12
Hello Simon,
In my ds-260 education section i have put educational institutes that I attended from date wrong. I had attended from 2014 to 2017 but in my ds 260 i have put 2007 to 2017.I had also gone to foreign country(Australia) but that was more than 10 years ago before the age of 16(age 8 to 10). Do I need to unlock for this? My case number is 2022AS81**
September 6, 2021 at 18:17
You will be waiting for your case number for some time, so you may as well unlock and correct.
September 7, 2021 at 18:53
Can’t I send unlock request after getting 2nl? I have heard that final submission date of ds-260 does matter and that unlock can delay 2nl like as if my case number gets current in aprill than I may get 2nl in June.
September 7, 2021 at 20:48
Would I be disqualified if I don’t unlock? Does the documents asking email come according to ds-260 submission?
September 8, 2021 at 08:30
I have already unlocked and ressubmitted on august 10. Should I send unlock request again to correct or cant i say clear it out in my interview?
September 9, 2021 at 03:30
Once you have the 2NL (interview schedule) KCC won’t unlock.
September 6, 2021 at 06:47
Dear BritSimon. I am aware that your focus is on DV matters, but concurrently to the DV process I would like to apply for E2NIW. I came across AG Immigration and was hoping you could suggest a good immigration law firm for NIW cases or shed some light on AG Immigration as a recommended option.
Kind regards.
September 6, 2021 at 18:18
I only deal with DV.
September 6, 2021 at 06:52
Hi am billy dv2021 case number AF31xxxxwinner africa region in kenya nairobi i would like to know the fate of ON THE LAWSUIT WHICH IS DUE ON 30TH SEPTEMBER
September 6, 2021 at 18:18
Wait and see.
September 6, 2021 at 07:29
Hi Brit
Hope you’re well.
2022 winner. OC13##
Sydney specifically. I know we’re in a brutal lockdown atm, but vaccinations are on the rise and I’m hoping the Embassy will open in Sydney soon.
I’ve submitted my DS-260 a few weeks ago. I haven’t received an email back yet asking for supporting docs, i’ve read conflicting things from people about whether or not to submit docs before hearing back from KCC.
Is it okay for me to go ahead and send my docs now? I have them all
Cheers!
September 6, 2021 at 11:37
send them
September 6, 2021 at 18:18
Send documents.
September 6, 2021 at 10:43
I have been asked to submit supporting documents and now do you know when the interview will be for OC
September 6, 2021 at 18:19
Depends mainly on case number.
September 6, 2021 at 14:02
So, here’s my question.
During you interview, apart from presenting the required, and necessary documents, you also in many cases must present the I-134 form, yes. But there’s also two other alternative options which are presenting sufficient funds of your savings, or that you have a job offer.
As far the job offer goes, does the type of work/job matter?
Surely, the consular might find it rather suspicious that, lets say I’m in IT, but got a job offer waiting for that is something completely else. Lets just go with retail worker in Target or Wall Mart, just as an example. Do you think that might be an issue if the job offer is NOT one in your field?
September 6, 2021 at 18:21
It would be extremely unwise to offer a fake job offer.
September 6, 2021 at 15:08
Hi Simon,
I’m a bit lost about the current covid policies and travel restrictions. It seems like CDC, DHS and travel.state.gov have different info on their sites.
We are planning to travel to the US on the 13th of October from a Schengen country.
Based on the travel.state.gov post it seems likve we can travel there wothout a problem as all immigrant visas are considered as NIE on arrival.
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/covid-19-travel-restrictions-and-exceptions.html
However CDC says we need a negative covid test
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html
And I found a DHS page somewhere which says I need self-quaranteen for 14 days, but that seems to be archived so i’m not sure that is still in effect.
Can you tell what is the current situation or who should we contact on what email to get a clarification?
Thanks
September 6, 2021 at 18:28
There is no contradiction between those policies. You are able to enter (because of the NIE) but had to provide a negative PCR. BOTH statements were correct!
I believe vaccinations will be required soon also.
September 6, 2021 at 15:23
Hi Simon,
hope everything is well. I am DV2022 AS3x. I submitted my DS-260 in the beginning of June, but still haven’t heard back from KCC to submit supporting documents. Is it better to send the documents already without being asked to or I should wait few more weeks?
Thanks!
September 6, 2021 at 18:29
Send them.
September 6, 2021 at 15:45
Hi Simon, I just have a question regarding my medical test for the interview (ds-260), it can be done in any country or it has to be done in the country where my interview is set up? I am from Venezuela and people from Venezuela has to go to the us embassy in Colombia for the interview. So I should get the medical test done in Venezuela or in Colombia?
September 6, 2021 at 18:29
Must be at a physician approved by the interviewing embassy.
September 6, 2021 at 16:23
Hello Brit,
I was selected in DV 2022, holding B1/B2 visa, If I travelled to US after my CN become current, AM I eligible for AoS? or should I be in US during DV selection (May2021) to be eligible? Thanks for your help
September 6, 2021 at 18:30
Case number????
September 6, 2021 at 20:32
Hey Simon,
Same question. DV2022. AS20***. Interview in Cairo, Egypt. Chargeable to Saudi Arabia.
September 6, 2021 at 21:53
That case number won’t be current for a LONG time.
September 6, 2021 at 21:57
When it does, would it be best to do AOS? My B1/B2 is valid until Nov. 2022. I sent DS 260 on May 11, 2021 and sent documents August 11, 2021. Thanks a million.
September 9, 2021 at 03:18
I don’t know at this point – it depends what happens over the next few months.
September 6, 2021 at 21:38
Same here ,,, CN 2022AS00005K interview in Jerusalem. Chargeable to Jordan. But I have my wife and another two (No B1/B2 visas) its just me who have the visa.
regards
September 6, 2021 at 21:55
So why complicate things?
September 7, 2021 at 11:23
I read on AoS spreadsheat that to be eligible for AoS you should be present in US during DV selection. According to my understanding that means I should be in America in May 2021 to be eligible for AoS, right?
I need your clarification for this point
thanks
(CN 2022AF00006K)
September 9, 2021 at 03:24
That is correct BUT some people have managed approval despite that. But with your low case number, why create risk?
September 12, 2021 at 19:03
If I could not manage to get approval for AoS with USCIS, Do I lose my opportunity for a regular consular interview in the embassy? How is that risky? Sorry for bothering you and thanks for your help.
September 12, 2021 at 22:36
If you get refused, then your case is over.
September 6, 2021 at 18:26
Hi Mr Simon . I am 2022 DV lottery case no. As15xxx. I have submitted my Ds260 couple weeks ago. I didn’t receive any email from KCC to send my documents yet. Do you think I could send them now
Thank
September 6, 2021 at 18:50
Hello Simon,
If the size of the documents send more than 30 mb, how should we name the subjects of 2 or more emails?
is it correct if we write 2022EU00013XXX-Part 1 and 2022EU00013XXX-Part 2?
Thanks.
September 6, 2021 at 19:38
That would be fine, yes
September 6, 2021 at 20:08
Hello, regarding dv2022, VB for October EU is 2300, and although my case number is within this vb, I still did not get an email from KCC even to send the documents. I have sent them already but my concern is since it is already 7th of September, does this mean that vb will not matter and there is going to be a delay for dv2022 interviews? Since by know I should have gotten my interview date, but I still did not get the email for requesting scanned documents from KCC. Then why is VB EU 2300, I do not get it. Aren’t they supposed to inform about the delay?
September 6, 2021 at 21:51
They are focusing on DV2021, so yes there will be a very slow start for DV2022. And no, they don’t inform people of a delay – because you are not delayed. You become documentarily qualified yet. Until you do, you won’t be interviewed, even if you are already current.
September 6, 2021 at 20:13
Hello again Mr. brit. My case number is eu00011 ***, and I complited DS260 on July 1st. How do you advise me, to send the documents or wait for KCC email. Thank you
September 6, 2021 at 21:52
Send them.

September 6, 2021 at 21:52
Only if the lawsuit achieves a preservation of visas.
September 6, 2021 at 21:39
Greetings Mr Simon. Hope you are doing great. Sir please I have a question.
Do they require 8 and 12 years children to do COVID-19 TEST before traveling? Thanks.
September 6, 2021 at 21:54
Google it.
September 6, 2021 at 21:55

September 9, 2021 at 03:17
I don’t know.
September 6, 2021 at 22:53
Hi Simon, i fill up two DS260 forms (one for me as the principal applicant and one for my wife) i signed mine with my passport number, but i dont know if i sign my wife’s too with my passport number or hers ? thanks in advance
September 9, 2021 at 03:18
If you are signing, use your passport.
September 6, 2021 at 23:03
hi brit, any idea when can we have final order for dv 2021? bcz time is running n even if he make it mission critical.. embassy need time to process..
September 9, 2021 at 03:19
I suspect we won’t have an order until the end of the month, and then a preservation order is what we will need.
September 7, 2021 at 02:47
Hi Simon,
Trust you are good.
We have observed unprecedented patterns at US Embassy Nairobi in this final month of September. In the last four months KCC has been scheduling interviews every Friday without fail.
However, on this final month they have scheduled only for 2 months i.e. 10th & 17th leaving out 3rd & 24th.
What could be their intentions. Saving the best for last?
Thanks.
September 9, 2021 at 03:19
I don’t know.
September 7, 2021 at 03:32
Hi Simon
I wish to ask whether there is any update on travelling to the US that reqiures every immigrant to be vaccinated against covid 19?
We have our visa already, we will be travelling anytime from now.
September 7, 2021 at 08:34
Hello Oliver,
I bless the Lord for your visa, i have been reading your numerous questions to Brit especially when you were worried about your marriage certificate. By the way how did you finally sort it out did the C.O find any problem with the polygamous aspect of it?
And also how old are your children and what questions were posed to them. I will really appreciate if you could share with us.
Regards
September 9, 2021 at 03:19
Yes you will need to be vaccinated as the rules are changing.
September 7, 2021 at 06:08
Hi Simon, I am a winner for 2022 with case number OC9XX, what are my chances. Do we have to go firstname_lastname or we have to go firstname_middlename_lastname? I have already submitted DS260. Should I submit the document. I have seen your blog on the document naming convention
September 9, 2021 at 03:22
I can’t predict your chances.
Follow the naming convention I have documented.
Send documents.
September 7, 2021 at 12:14
Hi Simon,
First of all very grateful to you for the guidance you have been giving, often very precise and comprehensive information.
Just had a question regarding my case. I won DV 2022 and my case number is OC9XX. I have already submitted DS260 and waiting for email from KCC for documents.
Q1 – What are my chances for an interview
Q2 – As have suggested multiple time, I am going to submit my documents. In the example you gave you had document naming convention as CASENOwith0_FName_LName. Is it ok to got FName_Mname_Lname?
Q3 – If I don’t get email from KCC till next round of applications open for DV entry, can I submit entry again?
Q4 – If for whatever reason I was not successful in securing the visa, have I jeopardised my chances to secure any non-immigrant visa in future? I am planning to go there for my further study after graduation.
Sarah
September 9, 2021 at 03:25
Already answered 1 and 2.
3. Yes
4. Affected, not ruined.
September 7, 2021 at 12:20
Hi Simon,
I am a DV2022 selectee case number AF38xxx. My wife and I plan to move to Germany shortly. Should we wait until we move to Germany to send in our documents? If we are to send in our documents and then not receive any feedback from KCC for another 6 months or so, will we then we required to obtain a PCC from Germany as well?
Appreciate your help!
September 9, 2021 at 03:26
Yes move first, and plan to get a police certificate depending on timing and the instructions.
September 7, 2021 at 13:31
Hi BritSimon,
AF60xxx 2022
My question is twofold:
1) Do you think it is wise to further hold off on submitting the D260, considering my husband’s case number is high? I realise you in the past have suggested this could be a good idea as it mitigates the risk of not getting an interview and having future visa applications affected. However my concern (in this current climate with covid causing a bottleneck is that if all case numbers become current then KCC may work in “date submitted” order?
2) My South African passport expired shortly after applying last year, as did my British Passport I now have my new SA passport but have not yet renewed my British passport which I am listing as my secondary passport (born in South Africa with British citizenship via descent). Should I use the expired passport number, OR should I hold off on submitting until I have the new passport.
Thank you for all of your valuable advise!
September 9, 2021 at 03:28
1. You know both sides of the coin – now you need to decide what to do.
2. Use the SA non expired passport.
September 9, 2021 at 06:40
Thank you! To clarify, I have used my unexpired SA passport in the main passport section of the d260 however the form asks about other citizenship and asks for (secondary) passport number. Do I enter the expired uk passport number here?
September 9, 2021 at 14:14
There would be no harm in that.
September 7, 2021 at 15:31
Hello Brit,
I graduated from medical college and have diploma of nursing. On DS260, I wrote other instead of vocational school. Is that ok? Or should I unlock and change it.
CN 2022EU13K. I’m principal applicant.
Thank you.
September 9, 2021 at 03:28
It’s ok
September 7, 2021 at 16:53

September 9, 2021 at 03:29
Montreal embassy are not accepting DV cases anyway.
September 7, 2021 at 19:10
Dear Brit
I am a South African selectee of the DV2022 process.
I want to thank you for everything you post- I have gained a lot of insight from your blog.
If I could ask (and I know this question is something you don’t normally address); I have been trying to find out if it would at all be possible to open up a U.S. bank account prior to going so I can legally transfer money. I have asked South African banks that are correspondents of U.S. banks but I have not yet gotten a definitive answer.
I know that there are legitimate agencies that offer their services in opening a commercial U.S. bank account for the purposes of investing. They have arrangements with the bank and the process is made possible by Covid regulations. Obviously such services come at a premium but I need to save up as much as I possibly can as I’m a student finishing up this year. My question is therefore whether you have any knowledge regarding successfully opening an account remotely?
September 9, 2021 at 03:31
Unless you are a high net worth individual, probably not.
September 7, 2021 at 20:27
Hi Simon,
Winners of Ds2022
We are still waiting for couple of documents to be send to us.
Do we have to submit all documentation before end of September?
Thank you
September 9, 2021 at 03:31
No
September 7, 2021 at 20:36
Hi Brits, when will dv program 2023 begin?and will there there be an increase of selectees from 55000 to 80000?
September 8, 2021 at 00:22
Hello Brit
I appreciate the things u r doing. I am dv 2020 winner with my wife and one daughter. We were told that our request was approved but days later we were called and told to have further interview. But covid broke out and embassies closed. As a result, our interview was cancelled. Our passport is still in the embassy. Now we gave birth to a daughter. How can we add her to our case if we will get the chance to get rescheduled? Thank you.
September 9, 2021 at 03:37
I don’t know – we have to wait for clarification and the final order.

Hi Brit !!! God bless you for the help you provide us !!! I watched one your latest video about the right way to send documents to KCC once they are requested ,,, I life in a Spanish language speaking country and I may have my interview (not sure yet) in an English language speaking country,,, so I have to send original documents (in Spanish) and the translations in English,,, I have the original docs in picture formats (.jpg) and the translations separated in .pdf formats… if the moment comes should I do it this way (e.g): SA00012345_Bob_Dilan_Birth_Certificate.jpg (original) and then together: SA00012345_Bob_Dilan_Birth_Certificate.pdf (the translation) ???? Like this ???
Thanks in advance !!!

Hello Brit!
To present date I have never travelled to any countries or changed my residential address, which I declared in my DS already submitted a month ago. My questions are,
1. If I travel to another country in January 2022 on a student visa, must I unlock DS and update or can this be handled at the interview without any problem? (I have a rather high CN but heard that unlocking can delay processing and I already unlocked once)
2. If I spend more than 6 months outside my home country and still don’t get an interview date, will I need to get a PC from the country were I will be residing as a student for the future interview? ( I already sent documents proactively)
Thanks!
September 9, 2021 at 03:37
1. At interview.
2. Yes
September 8, 2021 at 01:07
Brit i saw ur live video today.. can u explain y judge will nt make it mission critical this time as last year.. for ppl who gt interview scheduled n canceleld at last moment, making mission critical is the only option.. don’t you think so? Our embassies stopped working by saying about covid…
September 9, 2021 at 03:38
Last year was different – because gov were not processing ANY cases. This year they are.
September 8, 2021 at 01:29
Hi Brit, Hope you’re doing well. I’ve been watching your videos for a while and I understand that you mentioned and a recent video that DV 2020 selectees can not apply to an AOS when the process starts again. But what if I have been waiting all these years living in a communist country like Venezuela, and due to the political situation I said no more, and now I’m living in the US with my family, since May of the current year. Technically we’re just arriving, life happens, we didn’t know that we were about to get this victory on DV 2020.
What will happen with my chance to run for a GC on the DV2020? Do I have any chance? Thoughts?
September 8, 2021 at 02:41
Hi Brit, I already completed AOS interview, however CIS cannot approve my case because KCC wouldn’t transfer my file to them. The issue is that my spouse (the derivative applicant) didn’t want to apply green card together, so I only filed my $330 fee and AOS application. I emailed to KCC and asked them to delete my spouse’s name from the system. However, it’s been a week, and I don’t know when they will respond. Do you know how long does KCC take recently. I also considered to submit my spouse’s $330 to complete DOS’s process and wants to know your thoughts. Thank you for your help.
September 9, 2021 at 03:40
KCC won’t delete your spouse’s name, but they might release documents for AOS. The problem is the slowness in addressing emails. So – do what you think gives you the best chance.

Please tell me what does it mean.

It probably means you are not following instructions correctly, and it may mean you blocked your DS260 by trying too many times.

Good morning Simon,
I have just watched your Q&A session on YouTube. Thanks for keeping us informed.
I need one clarification though. You said it is possible for the judge to reserve visas in the case of DV2021. Is it also possible for the judge to order an extension of time instead of visa reservation.
Say for example order KCC to continue processing cases beyond September i.e. October moving forward.
Thanks.

No time extension – preservation of visas on a “nunc pro tunc” basis.

Hi Simon,
I’m a DV2021 winner, my interview is scheduled for this month. I have a question about my work experience, I don’t meet the educational requirements. I applied for a green card in 2019 Oct. when I applying for the lottery I had only 1 year and a half of experience. But now I have 3 years of experience. I’m a software developer ( Job zone 4~5, SVP 7~8).
My question is how they calculate the work experience? To the interview date or prior to the application date,

Q2: In respond to DS-260 question (highest level of education) and I answer (university degree) while I have BSC in pharmacy, is this will affect my DS-260 processing .?
Q3: in respond to DS-260 question (have you travelled to any countries ..etc ) and I answer 4 country , but all of them is for Truism purpose, is this will affect my DS-260 processing .?
Q4: did you think I was late for DS-260 submission, cuz till now I didn’t receive KCC email for documents submission .?
