Hello,
I sent an email to follow up on my application and to check wether KCC is satisfied with the documents; they responded with the following
“Thank you for your inquiry.
The information you provided will be forwarded to the appropriate department. In the future, please send your required documents to [email protected].
Your DS-260 has been processed. You should have received, or will soon receive, an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing. Please follow the instructions in the email. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Etc”
Is the the email I should be looking for ? What does this email really imply. ?
My CN is AS 22***
Thanks for your great support and work.

Many Thanks and kind regards.
March 8, 2020 at 03:49
1. What you show is very case specific. But you seem to have prepared well.
2. To whom it may concern.
3. Given that the healthcare rule is still blocked, what you have is probably ok.

Hi Brit,
I am currently in the US and on F1-OPT STEM. I recently got accepted to a PhD program for Fall 2020. Now the school would like me to provide financial support to issue me an I-20.
My number is AS13xxx (which will be current in April) and have not submitted DS-260 form yet. I plan to do the Adjustment of Status.
My question is:
1) should I wait until the new school issued me a new I-20 (probably will not happen until May/June) before I submit my ds260? So I will have legal status to fall back if I get denied.
Thank you!

March 8, 2020 at 11:23
hi Brit,
My wife is the DV winner ( we both are from Nepal) AS11****, currently residing in the UK. Currently she is pregnant and expecting the child to be born in first week of september. However, with current VB trend our case is likely to be current in 2 months time and interview in May / June is highly likely.(before the child is born).
So, we are bit confused about the requirements for our child to take with us to the US.
We would like the child to be born in the UK, as she is having her tests done here and the medical costs is free.
As I hold Permanent residence of the UK, my child will be eligible to apply for British Citizenship/ British Passport soon after the birth. So, how will that impact the Green card application for the child.
Can we take our child with us without applying the Green card and do that process once we are in the US, (as British Passport holder do not require Visas to travel to the US).
Looking forward for your valuable suggestions.

March 8, 2020 at 18:22
1. You don’t need to change unless you want the GC sent to a different address. If so – do that at the interview.
2. No problem.
March 9, 2020 at 04:31
At interview time if consular/co says that why didn’t you unlocked ur DS260? Couse ur previous Spooncer has low income So what can I do ? Can I submit the consular my GC holder’s Spooncer documents only ? Then they gives me visa approved paper?

Should I mention my new address or the one I put on the DS 260?
Because I don’t want to make mistakes please advise ?
March 8, 2020 at 23:04
You will need to update to a new address at the interview, because the USA address is where the GC will be sent.

Hello Sir!
I just want to ask for some tips. I have watched your videos on how to avoid being a public charge. Especially with new form
1) I have finished high school in January and I’m 19.
2) I do have support affidavit, who is my aunt
3) my parents will cover my expenses for anything
4) Idk if I should ever mention this but I do work online I do earn few bucks. I’m not sure if this works as a work experience.
March 9, 2020 at 00:45
Tip number 1. If you want an answer, ask a question.
March 9, 2020 at 03:53

I am from Nepal and DV2020 winner. I have already received visa on early Feb and already booked ticket for early May.
Is there any news or actions taken from US Govt. that would travel ban from Nepal ?
FYI, I could not find such information in travel.state.gov websites.

Hi Simon,
I have a question please.
I’m from one of the country that effected by the new travel ban,I had my interview on Feb 10th ,and they put my case in administrative process, but on March 5th my status changed from administrative process to refused, but today March 9th they update my case and they send me email requesting some documents and also asking for form ds-5540.in the email they mentioned (in order to continue processing your case please send us the below documents….etc).
My question is : as per their last email is there any chance for us to get the Visa after the travel ban already effect us?
March 9, 2020 at 07:10
Dear Tasnem,

March 9, 2020 at 17:13
I don’t know enough about your case to be able to advise you. I would just suggest you do what they ask – and see what happens.

Hello Brit ,
My number as chosen for GC is 32***EU.
In the past months they called a lot of people for interview, but in the last month this number was reduced to only 200.
What is the problem that they only called 200 people for interview, and will this number increase in the next few months, and if I don’t receive a call till September, are there any chances that I will receive a call after September ?
Thank you in advance!
March 9, 2020 at 17:21
I explained this in detail here: https://britsimonsays.com/ceac-data-refreshed-for-early-march-2020/
No need to panic – just wait.
March 9, 2020 at 16:04
Hi Bri,
Am AF 14XXX and current.
i’ve got a similar problem i noticed here that kindly need your advice.
in ds 260 i put date of religious marriage from
the church and while legal official marriage certificate
relating to civil marriage in my country they only indicate
civil not religious.
Do I need to unlock DS260 and change date accordingly or
Do I need to submit two documents(one from church and another from
district)?
Kindly advice us.
Thank you
March 9, 2020 at 17:24
This is not a problem. No need to unlock. Relax.
March 9, 2020 at 16:17
Dear Simon,
I’m dv winner from Jordan resident at Abu Dhabi/United Arab Emirate with my husband, I completed my master degree but I’m not working right now however my CN will be current in next VB hopefully.
Do you advise me to have our interview at Amman/jordan or to change to Abu Dhabi?
Thank you Simon.
March 9, 2020 at 17:24
KCC choose where you will interview based on where you live.
March 9, 2020 at 18:13
Thank you Simon because I heard that KCC schedule interview location based on choice in the DS, however I’m asking you because I only trust in your judgment and experience rather than people rumors.
So no need to contact them to change my choice from amman to abu Dhabi because they will schedule it at Abu Dhabi which my current location, I’m I right?
March 9, 2020 at 18:03
Brit;
Thank you so much for your kind assistance.
I’m gonna submit all required documents.
March 9, 2020 at 19:34
Hi Simon,
My embassy sent an email with the required documents and they asked for police certificates to match exactly birth certificate name listing any middle names and spelling variations. However my police certificates follow my passport name which is shorter (1 less middle name) and also slightly different spelling. Is this going to be an issue? Should I inquire about this with the embassy?
Or do you think if I asked the question, then it will complicate the situation?
March 9, 2020 at 22:50
Ask the embassy.
March 9, 2020 at 19:53
Dear simon
Always appreciating your great advices and help, Currently i am waiting for the 2nl please i need your assistance for these questions:
1-do you advise should anyway my wife take with her high school and bachelor degree with translation copies for the interview even If i am the main applicant?Just to be over prepared in case they ask?
2- regarding public charge , i got a draft from my sponsor for i-134 showing 90k $ annual income ,also he mention a saving of 20k$ In his account ,meantime At the time of interview i will present a bank saving account statement of arround 45k$, do you think it will be ok for myself and my wife and my four years old Daughter to avoid public charge concerns?
3- my wife is pregnant and we are planing to do birth in usa (expected delivery in sept-2020)hopefully after getting the approval so my question is should I inform this news to the embassy by email or i have to inform them during interview that my wife is pregnant and we want the birth in usa considering that anyway for the medical test she will not be able to do it all specially the x-ray? Does this affect our case anyway?
Thanks
March 9, 2020 at 22:49
1. No.
2. That should be ok.
3. Your wife will need the xrays, she will be offered an abdomen shield. If she refuses the xray, she wont get the visa.
March 10, 2020 at 19:59
Thanks simon for answer just to clarify that she not refusing doing the x-ray , i just thought may the doctor decide not to do it.
also please I need your answer for the other part of question if i should inform the embassy about the pregnancy or i will just inform them during interview? thx
March 10, 2020 at 20:02
They will know from the medical – but there is no harm in informing them and discussing plans.
March 9, 2020 at 20:59

Hello valerio I am not European . I am from Africa but I live in Europe
March 9, 2020 at 22:33
Dear Simon,
I received my GC in Feb 2019, but my grandfather’s name was misspelled. I filed an I-90 form, finished my biometrics in Mar 2019, made sure that my address was changed when I moved. The case now is outside normal processing time when I last checked on USCIS, I filed an “outside of processing time” report, and received a response of “Your application is still pending consideration.” It’s been a year now, should I worry?
Note: my name is long, consists of 5 names, I am not sure if I am right or wrong, maybe the characters of my full name is too long to be typed on the card, that’s why my grandfather’s name missed the last letter?
Thank you

March 10, 2020 at 04:25
Dear Brit,
I am the winner of DV 2020 and my husband has served in Military in Sri Lanka (our mother country) and then served for a united nation’s peace keeping operations in Haiti for 7 months. In the document request email from KCC, it was mentioned that we need police clearance report from other countries if we have lived there for more than 12 months. So I don’t need to request a police clearance report from Haiti? I am afraid because I am not sure whether I can get it if it is needed.
Thanks
March 10, 2020 at 18:41
7 is less than 12 – right?
March 10, 2020 at 20:38
I am sorry. Yeah I understood that. But most of the people say we need a police certificate if we have lived in another country for more than 6 months. That is why I have explained the scenario in detail. I want to know whether my spouse needs a police certificate from Haiti. (Because when I further checked, I noticed in Haiti police certificates are issued domestically, if live outside of Haiti, we have to apply through a friend either through a friend or a family member who lives there. But I don’t have one)
Kindly let me know if my spouse needs to take a police certificate from Haiti
Thanks

Not really.
March 10, 2020 at 09:09
Hi Brit
Thanks for your responses and generous help.
I have been reading your replies and others’ comments and they were really enlightening and beneficial.
CASE NUMBER: AS20206XXX
I have three concerns, please.
1/ I unlocked my DS260 form and updated my address and some name corrections, resubmitted DS260 form on Feb 1st along with Required Docs (to KCCDVdocuments email).
BUT I have not received any email back till now to confirm DS260 processing completion nor regarding submitted documents satisfaction (CAEC reads: At NVC). Should I email them? Your thoughts?
2/ When do you expect/estimate my interview date will be?
3/ My current passport (submitted on DV entry & DS260) is going to expire after almost 10 months from now (surely after expected date of interview).
I need to apply for a new passport, but don’t know how not to create a conflict/problem for my case. What’s your advice?
March 10, 2020 at 18:48
1. No need. Just be patient.
2. June probably.
3. Get a new passport before the interview and take old and new passports to the interview.
March 12, 2020 at 15:37
Thanks Simon for your reply.
For public charge, is providing a bankstatement of 10k $ is sufficient alone?
March 12, 2020 at 16:00
These days there is more concern about public charge, so having an I-134 is the best advice.

Sir,
We did m’y fisrt interview on Décembre 10, 2019 am the PA.
Thé second on March 05, 2020(but no question that day). Today also we had another appointement and the CO told us to provide photo, but because of religion we do not have except ID or passeport, we already mentionned it at the fisrt interview. But today it is not the same CO interviewed us for the first time. The next appointement she asked us to provide photo by sending it through email. But I can not restart the my wedding for photo except I lied. The only that I can do is to snap with my wife in private to show them sure it is a genuine mariage by showing them pic which we can not show in public.
Please help me, am worry.
March 10, 2020 at 19:34
I don’t quite understand your problem. During this process you will need to provide photos. If that is against your religion, you can choose to respect your religion and NOT proceed with the Green Card process.
March 10, 2020 at 21:29
Thanks for your réponse. But what I am asking knowing with the fisrt consular officer I already told him he did not insisted but this lady for the second interview did not allow us to explain and she said with no photos no visa. But if we provide wed photo that will be a lire comparing the first interview. What is your service please?
March 11, 2020 at 00:06
What is your advice please ?
March 11, 2020 at 06:18
Please Sir,
Answer we higly need your advice.
March 11, 2020 at 20:47
BE PATIENT.
March 11, 2020 at 19:41
Just tell the truth, if you have photos, provide them. If you don’t have them – you don’t pretend you have them.
March 10, 2020 at 16:09
Hi Sir,
I failed to answer the question about social media because my wife isn’t on a social media.
My case has been scheduled for interview.
Could this be a problem??
If so what can I do to avoid it???
Please I need your help
March 10, 2020 at 18:42
Hi Brit Simon,
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
My case number is: 2020AF41XXX, most likely becoming current in the next visa bulletin.
My situation is: I live in the US, as a masters student under an F1 visa.
I know there is the possibility to procede via USCIS, however, I have been advised to fly to my home country (morocco) and do everything via KCC as it is easier (apparently), also KCC is easier to reach out to unlike USCIS.
Now my questions are:
1 – Do you think it is in fact better/easier/more convenient (process wise) to fly to morocco, get things done and comeback?
OR
I could change again and do everything via USCIS (my only concern is that they are difficult to get a hold of, unlinke kcc) so thought it may slack off the process.
2- Provided the virus, do you think I could encouter any sort of risk in the process if I fly, and it should be just safer to do it here.
Thanks so much,
Kindest,
Omar

1. There are pros and cons to both processes. The fact that the DS260 AND the documents have to be processed for CP has made that option a bit slower. Useful comparison is available in the spreadsheet linked from post 1 here https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2020-aos-only.340762/
2. This is another reason to lean toward AOS…
March 10, 2020 at 18:50
Hi Britsimon,
I haven’t been able to find info on this topic.
My number was current in Feb and I just sent in my AOS application yesterday. Fingers crossed!
But…what happens if I lose my job? I know that in a regular AOS situation you can change jobs after 180 days. But is it different with the diversity visa? I’m currently on an E3.
Thanks!
March 10, 2020 at 20:17
All AOS questions should be here:

March 13, 2020 at 19:16
Thanks Britsimon. But I asked my question on the forum and they couldn’t answer about the employment question. I’ve had one lawyer tell me I could freelance and be paid in another country but my belief is that I would still need the EAD that would be months away. Every lawyer I speak to thinks my situation is very unique: E3 + DV + AOS + Unemployment. So I was wondering if you’d heard of anything like it.
March 14, 2020 at 05:22
No. Sm1smom is the expert on DV AOS
March 10, 2020 at 19:32
Good day Brit, I’m the lady that been asking you numerous questions, the single mother with the two kids. we went for our interview today and Glory be to God we got approved and the CO didn’t ask for form 5540.
Thanks very much Brit for answering all of my questions and leading me through my DV process till the end. I appreciate you Brit ??? And all thanks to the almighty God he has Blessed and favor my kids and I. Lord I’m grateful ?
March 10, 2020 at 20:03
Congratulations.
March 10, 2020 at 20:09
Wow! Congratulations.
March 14, 2020 at 05:42
Congratulations. Glory be to God for passing through the process. Thank you God
March 10, 2020 at 20:10
Thank you sir. Please. Will it affect me at my interview if I didn’t make a correction ? What about sending my working contract with explanation in it .
March 10, 2020 at 22:17
Hello mr. Britsimon
I submitted my documents late January. My cn is AF42***…and i was one of those who got a “documents not submitted” mail sent but KCC. Though i believe i sent the documents carefully. I haven’t heard congratulations from KCC sofar. What do you suggest me do dear brother.?
March 11, 2020 at 19:42
Late January is quite recent. Wait a few weeks, you will probably be current soon, so then KCC will be able to check the document status.
March 10, 2020 at 23:09
Hi britsimon,
A friend applied for 2020bdv lottery and won while staying in USA on asylum. The case no is AF 64xxx. The case number is africa because he use his original country when he filled the dv. What should he do when his number is current.he didn’t fill anything since he is not sure what to do
March 11, 2020 at 20:36
Your friend needs to do some research and take the opportunity seriously. Once his case number is current he can file for adjustment of status as long as he was never out of status. The link below is essential to understanding that process. Now – he must understand that he MUST process this before September 30 – no extension is possible for ANY reason.

Hi Simon, I had one question: if a married couple have come to the USA together, under the DV lottery visa, and soon after arriving the couple separate (say in a week), what would the repercussions of that be? Please note , the couple got married in June last year after the results were announced, and the husband was the principal applicant, while their sponsor was the wife’s uncle here in USA. Please advise what could be done and what would be the best way forward.
March 11, 2020 at 20:39
Well the obvious concern here is that the marriage was fraudulent. Since their DV approval was based on that lie – they could be at risk when they apply for naturalization (after 5 years).
March 11, 2020 at 00:42
Hi brit
My husband was a military officer and has served for MFO in Egypt back in 2012 and again served in Golan heights under United Nations in 2017 for more then a year and was provided Certificates of completion
My question is we dont have any idea how to obtain police clearance for these countries ??
Your help will be appreciated
March 11, 2020 at 20:40
The reciprocity page lists each country and explains how to obtain the police certs. Google “reciprocity page”.
March 11, 2020 at 00:53
When I check website ‘ceac.state.gov’ I got status of my case “At NVC”, What does it means? what should I do further? I have already sent documents and got documents satisfaction email from kcc.
