Hi,
I am a DV2022 selectee from Iran. my case number is AS5XXX.
I have summited my DS form on May 23 and haven’t yet received the documents request email.
I have miss spelled my wife’s father name in the DS form. Should I unlock my DS form and correct it or it is not a big deal (there is only one letter missed)? If I unlock and resubmit now, will it delay my embassy appointment? Is it better to do it after the document’s approval or before? Thanks.
You know that Iranian should schedule their embassy appointment in other countries and there are many issues and delayed appointments that concerns me about even being able to get an embassy appointment. And I think if I unlock I will even lower the chance. That’s why I am hesitating…
Thank you in advance for your response.
November 21, 2021 at 18:02
No need to unlock for that.

1. Not yet, they still have time to do so.
2. I don’t know when that will start.
3. Wait.

Hello brit,
Please i am DV2022 selectee, my case number is AF44K, i have sent my documents and received confirmation from KCC that i am ready to be scheduled for interview. last week we got a new baby. i am confused if i have to open my DS260 to add my new baby or not, because as you know KCC are processing using the date of DS260 submission, if i open my DS260 i will delay my interview. my question is : is it OK to not open the DS260 to add my baby until receiving a 2NL and ask to add my new baby in the consulate ?
Thanks
November 21, 2021 at 18:05
Unlock the DS260 as early as possible. It is important to add the child.
November 17, 2021 at 20:58
Dear Brit,
I just recently filled my ds260 and added my wife on it. We both pursued a bachelor’s and a masters degree in Germany. In the education section we added those, but we didn’t add our high school degrees. Are we fine like this, because it normally says, at least a high school degree is necessary to qualify or should we ask KCC to unlock the ds260 again and add our high school degrees as well? ( Both of our degrees (bachelor’s and masters) are obviously more advanced than a high school degree). We have a fairly low case number for Europe (EU4XX). Thanks for all your help and the support!
November 21, 2021 at 18:07
You should have included education since age 12. As to whether you unlock and correct it, or leave it as is is your choice. Since everyone is delayed anyway, and you did not submit early you may as well unlock.

Hello
Simon, I am the winner 2022AF1008*, submitted the DS260 in June and send the documents without being asked in September. as my file number is up to date on the January visa bulletin, I wrote to the KCC to request information on my case, the KCC unlock my DS260 without my requesting it on 11/17/2021.
I resubmitted my DS260 again on 11/17/2021.
Will this incident not be a cause of delay in processing my case?
November 21, 2021 at 18:08
Probably not.
November 17, 2021 at 21:03
Hi Brit, I am from Ethiopia case # 6xxx Kcc unlocked Only my DS 260 but not my spouse. While added my new born baby soon after like the next day they requested me to submit the required documents before I submit the DS 260 for both of us for me & my baby. Just after finishing adding my baby & I submited the Ds 260 & all the requested documets. My quetion is Should I need to request KCC agin to unlock mine & my spouse Ds 260 in order to change our status b/c I also have moved to other country for my study. I can’t wait the response.
November 21, 2021 at 18:13
Yes.
November 17, 2021 at 22:35
Hey Brit. 2022OC13##. Thanks for all your helpful info so far.
So i sent in my documents in on the 15th of September 2022. I know my number is due to go current around April/May next year. I’m only guessing of course.
I’m just curious as to why I haven’t had any processing yet. I understand the delay with covid, tiered visas etc. But should I have heard by now about my documents being processed? Is it worth emailing KCC to ask about my documents?
November 21, 2021 at 18:15
No they are very delayed. It will be weeks, possibly months before they get to your case.
November 18, 2021 at 01:50
Hi Brit,
I am a DV 22 winner. Case # AS5XXX from Iran. I submitted my and my wife’s DS form on May 23. I haven’t received a document request email yet but since couple of Iranian folks that submitted their forms on May 23 have received, I guess I will receive it soon.
My question: I have missed a letter of my wife’s father name in the DS form. And my question is “is it at all important?” (her father has died many years ago!). Let’s say I types “Abdolah” instead of “Abdollah”. Should I unlock and correct that name? If yes, should I do it before or after sending my documents?
You know chances to get an interview is unknown this year and it is worst for Iranians since we need to go to another country for the interview and I don’t want to delay this process.
Thank you for your advise.
November 21, 2021 at 18:15
Unimportant.
November 18, 2021 at 03:38
Hi Simon,
thank you so much for your live video yesterday. My husband and I watched it in full when we were able to get enough internet service to be able to see you video and get sound. I really appreciate that you answered my question even though I couldn’t listen live. To clarify, we don’t have any major changes to make in our DS-260. The only thing we noticed was the NZ had been left off the list of countries travelled to, even though we are both certain we both entered that information. At the time we realised this, you answered our questioned and said it was not necessary to open up the DS260 to add NZ as we had an early number CN 2022OC2XX.
I note from your video yesterday that you mentioned KCC processed Dv2022 DS260’s up until approx 20th May and from the date I can see on the excel tracking sites that concurs with your comments generally. However, we submitted 11th May, 9 days prior to the 20th May and it appears on the tracking data that we are the only ones in Oceania, unless i have missed someone, that submitted the DS260’s prior to 20th May that have NOT yet received a request to send documents (and it appears everyone is getting that request whether they sent docs in without being asked or not).
I emailed KCC 4th November requesting further information about our case. This was not an unlock request. I actually sent the email through twice as the first time i was too hasty in sending it as I forgot to include my DOB. The second email had my DOB. I received two replies from KCC 6th November (2 days later), a reply to each email. This first one stated no information could be provided as I hadn’t provided enough identifying information. This was sent from “Lorrie”. The second email was from “Michael” and provided the following response…..
“Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Once the Kentucky Consular Center has finished processing your DS-260, you will receive an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing.”
We submitted our DS260s over 27 weeks ago and before 20th May when they stopped processing DS260’s for DV2022 for a period of time to focus on the 2021? Should we be concerned that we are the only CN prior to the 20th May that have NOT been sent a Document Request and haven’t had our DS260’s processed. I completely understand the year is getting screwed up again as it did last year and the year before, however I am starting to wonder whether they starting processing our case but had not finished prior to May 20th and then somehow moved on and have not realised our case has not yet been processed completely as i believe the above quote is an automated response from KCC.
Should we continue to wait patiently? or should we Question whether our case has been inadvertently put aside and forgotten about?
CN 2022OC2xx; DS260s submitted 11th May; Documents sent without request 29th June; family of 2 – husband and wife;
Thank you Simon
warm regards
Charlotte
PS it was suggested to me to post here as apparently, you are not that active on the forums at present. No need to answer in both places.
November 21, 2021 at 18:18
Really you just need to be a bit more patient. They have not processed ALL May submissions, DS260s take different times to process. But don’t overthink it and no need to email them at this time. Hopefully things will start moving better because of the Tier 4 removal.
November 18, 2021 at 06:52
Hello Mr. Simon, i am dv2022AS4xxx from Afghanistan, i asked kcc to change my interview location to islamabad and they did that, now should i ask kcc to unlock my ds-260 and bring changed to the address and phone number? I am actually still living in Afghanistan. Do you think not changing the address in ds260 will cause any problems?
November 21, 2021 at 18:31
I cannot be 100% sure.
November 18, 2021 at 07:15
Hi sir, thank you for all the helpful information. My case number is AS7***. We are based in sydney. We are here on student visa. My country of birth is Sri Lanka. We might be current on February. haven’t heard of any interview scheduled in sydney due to embassy closure. So do u think its a good idea to change interview location to Sri lanka and face in interview there?
Thank you in advance.
November 21, 2021 at 18:31
No – there are delays of course, but the situation might look very different in a few months.
November 18, 2021 at 10:57
Hi Brit,
I’m one of the DV2022 selectees, EU4xxx case number. I asked this question KCC multiple times already but I always get some sort of generic answer.
I’m unmarried at the moment. I filled in my DS260 (didn’t submit it yet) in June. As I’m in a 5 year long relationship I was planning to get married and then submit both mine and her DS260 but we couldn’t organize decent wedding party because of COVID situation here, so that is still on hold.
After I filled my form, just for the test purpose, I added another DS260 for my future wife expecting that I could just remove her form after that but guess what – there is no way to remove it. Neither KCC can do that. Now I’m in a trouble. I already lost months because I didn’t want to submit both forms until we get married, and I couldn’t submit just mine because even if I list myself as unmarried (which is true at that moment) under her unsubmitted form she is still listed as SPOUSE.
Will KCC start processing my case if I only submit mine DS260 for now (as unmarried)? Will they make any trouble because I added her form (even though I didn’t submit it) because she was not my spouse at that point?
I’d like to avoid a situation where I get married in a rush now and then wait for months for KCC to ask for documents/schedule an interview. I’d rather start the procedure now and when lockdown is lifted at that point get married, unlock DS260, provide documentation for both and resume the procedure. If KCC asks for docs sooner, then I’d just go to the town hall and get married without any party 🙂
November 21, 2021 at 18:35
Why are you worried about a party??? Get married and then submit. Your current thinking is likely to cost you the GC.
You cannot remove the extra DS260 – there is no way.
November 22, 2021 at 10:55
You mean it’ll cost me because of timing or?
Thanks!
November 18, 2021 at 11:10
Hi Britsimonsays, texting you because I’m about to fill my N400 application and would like to declare my marriage in the form. I recieved my DV lottery visa in August 2016 and got married in Nov 4th 2016. I traveled to US in Nov 12th 2016….during those last five years I traveled back and forward to see my wife in Cameroon. I didn’t filed for her up to now because it was more easy for me to take care of her and the kid overseas and go to school. I don’t know if there’s gonna be any issues if I declare my marriage in my application for naturalization. Thank you and have a blessed day.
November 21, 2021 at 18:35
No problem.

Hello,
I am a D.V.2022 winner
I lost my passport, the one that i filled the DS-260 with.
I will issue another passport with a new number. How can i send the documents in my case? Do i send the old one and take the new one at the embassy along with the police report (confirmationthat i reported my passport’s loss)
Or send both passports along with the rest of the documents?
Or tell me please the best solution.
Thank you very much.
November 21, 2021 at 18:37
Take the new passport and proof of the lost passport to the interview.
November 18, 2021 at 15:42
Is there an option for KCC to remove unsubmitted DS260?
November 21, 2021 at 18:38
No
November 18, 2021 at 15:47
Hi Britsimon your site forwards me(us) to this ( https://verified-rx.com/?t=mm0&o=13e2b588) link once searched from Google for some days now. What might be the problem?
November 21, 2021 at 18:39
Working on it. You should not now get the scam site, but you might get a 404 error. Click refresh and you will get my site.
The problem occurs when you use google.
November 21, 2021 at 19:37
Yes, it works. Thank you!

Hi Britsimon,
My Experience at SSA
I went to check for our SSNs at SSA office a few days ago, unfortunately we were told to come back for another appointment for a face-to-face interview in January.
Apparently, we did show our passport with I551 stamp and greencards, and didnt even struggle to confirm our status. Unfortunately, we were told to come back after another month for the SSN and the card will come after a month so we will receive the SSN card in February.
I also asked if they could give the number so i can start work but still refused!
I actually ticked to have my SSN sent to my address but didnt receive it.
It was so disappointing and i thot i will share with others not to tick in the DS260 to request for the SSN but request for it when they arrive in the USA after three days.
I have been waiting for the SSN since arrival about 2 months ago.
Thanks
November 21, 2021 at 18:40
The SSA are awful – you have to be firm with them.
November 18, 2021 at 20:59
Hey brit
I am currently in Nepal, snd I am moving to UK on February on student visa.
After I move there, how can I change interview location?
Should I mail them or unlock ds260?
November 21, 2021 at 18:43
You unlock the DS260 then once submitted email them to ask to update your embassy.
November 18, 2021 at 21:52
Hi
I want to change the location of my interview to another country in Asia, and I cannot go to this country at the moment. Can I send kcc an email and tell them that I am in that country now and looking for a job, or tell them the truth that I am going to it soon
Knowing that I am in my case ××× AF00055
November 21, 2021 at 18:43
You can try what you think is best.
November 18, 2021 at 22:53
Hi BritSimon, I applied for DV lottery but i renewed the passport which i used to fill the form, if I put the new passport number in DS260, will that cause me a problem or make the embassy reject me of visa?
November 21, 2021 at 18:44
No – but you must send old and new passports when you send documents.
November 19, 2021 at 04:28
Please Britsimon thanks for your advice it really helping a lot .
Im winner of 2022Af41*** please have already submitted my Ds260 form and about to submit my documents. I have now realised that the name on my passport differs from my high school certificate. The name on the passport is Okyere Mensah, Maxwell. But on my high school is Okyere M Maxwell. They represented the Mensah with initial M. is a mistake that the school did. Although date of birth and the pictures are both the same. Please i need Your advice before i send my Documents. Thanks alot .
November 21, 2021 at 18:44
You are worrying for no reason.
November 19, 2021 at 05:37
Hey Brit. 2022OC13##. Sydney based. Just double checking with you that it’s a good idea to join Curtis Morrisons 2022 lawsuit for the tiered prioritisation?
Chris
November 21, 2021 at 18:45
It’s cancelled because the government rescinded the prioritization.
November 19, 2021 at 07:02
hello Brit, case No. AS4000
I lost the passport that i filled the DS-260 with, and I still did not send the docs.
Which is better; to send the photo of the lost one only and then take the new passport (with a different number) along with the police report (confirmation of the passport loss) to the embassy? or send both photos of the old and new one to KCC?
If have a better solution please tell me.
looking forward for your reply.
Thank you for your time
November 21, 2021 at 18:45

Good morning. Winner from Africa with cn 3281. Filled up the ds 260 end of August this year but haven’t received 2nl yet. Do we have to submit supporting documents with the ds 260 or do it separately after submitting the ds?

Hi,
I am DV 22 winner AS5***. I submitted my and my wife’s DS forms on May 23. Haven’t received the document request email yet.
However, I misspelled my wife’s father first name in the DS form. Shall I unlock and correct it? Is it a good time to do it since I may receive the document request anytime now.
Please help me if it is a big deal to correct the name and is it better to do it now or after sending my documents.
Thank you.
November 21, 2021 at 18:52
That is a trivial detail, no need to correct it.

Initially, I ticked online box to get it.
I arrived in US October 13th,

Note: the issued date was October 15th, 2021.
Question:
If I wanted want to go back to country after 1 to 2 years and get married.

And thanks.

November 20, 2021 at 01:50
Hello Simon
I am a winner with case number 2022AF14##### from Ghana. I wrote to KCC and they have opened my DS260 forms for me, I am getting marriage on 11th December 2021, I want to ask if i can wait after the marriage then i enter my wife details before i submit it or i should submit it now after the marriage then i write to KCC to open the forms for me.
November 20, 2021 at 04:50
You better wait and enter everything at the same time from now to December is just few days.
November 21, 2021 at 18:54
You can Submit once marrried, or submit as single and unlock once married.
November 20, 2021 at 04:32
Hello Briit.
I am migrating on the 28th of December 2021 can I know how long do I have to stay at USA since I need to come back to marry my fiancé wanted to know can I come after couple of months to my home country to get married and go back ?
November 21, 2021 at 18:54
Yes
November 20, 2021 at 04:59
Hi Simon,
I submitted my documents for DV 2022 (CN: 2022AF00038XXX) without being asked but as you suggested.
I followed the document procedure down to every detail- Case number in the subject, the proper naming convention, file size not exceeding 30MB, addressed only to [email protected]. When I sent an email requesting confirmation of my document receipt, KCC responded within 24 hours that they have not received them. I re-sent the documents along with a document receipt email and got the same response within 24 hours.
It baffles me that KCC respond that quickly for one! The same contractor has responded both times. Secondly, I cannot understand what I may be doing incorrectly.
Please advise if you have seen a similar case before.
Thanks,
Stanford Marquis
November 21, 2021 at 18:56
Yes I have seen that before. If you are sure you sent the documents correctly no need to send again. Your case number won’t be current for some months – so be patient.

Hello sir, will those that where not DQ dv 2021 have any chance of interview incase the goodluck order starts interviewing. Good day
November 21, 2021 at 18:56
Probably not. There are more DQd people than there are visas available.

Hello Brit,
Happy Saturday. My wife is a DV2022 winner and her case number is 2022AS39xx, she’s case number has been current recently, we have submitted our ds-260 on middle of Aug, well we have not recovered DR email yet, do you recommend to send our documents without DR email to kcc? If we send our docs without DR from kcc are they process our documents and can we get DQ email?

Hi Brit Simon,
Congratulations on your new citizenship processing!
I want to ask you a few nagging questions. I am dq and I’m waiting for an interview. There are a few small things that I want to ask you about my ds260 whether I should edit them during my interview in the embassy or leave them as it is.
1. I wrote in my education “high school diploma” even though it is called differently in my country (but it is equivalent to usa high school diploma). Do I need to change it to that other name?
2. In my parents section where there is “birth state/province” for one of my parents I put in “do not know” and for the other “do not apply” even though I know and it should of have been “do not apply” in both cases because where I live there is a country and a city and a street and that is it. Should I fix it?
3. Social accounts – so I added my facebook and I totally forgot that youtube also counts and I didn’t add it (but I only watch news and music and you on it, nothing more and it’s not like I use it as a social account also I didn’t create it – it is tied to my gmail account). Do I need to add it?
4. I know I’m annoying you already. But a couple of years ago I had reddit app installed on my phone and it asked for account so I created it with some random long name which reddit gives you. Then after a week or two I deleted an app as well as an account as I didn’t participate anywhere and found it not worth the time. I cannot remember the bloody name of that account whatsoever. Could it be a problem as it is tied in a history with my email name somewhere in the servers and I “supposedly hided” it?
November 21, 2021 at 19:01
1. No
2. Doesn’t matter.
3. No
4. No
Relax.
November 20, 2021 at 18:33
Hello Simon
I missed your live video about the tier 4 prioritization so I’ll ask my question here.
Since embassies may be scheduling interviews sooner than later since the government has rescinded the tier prioritization, and not enough cases have processed yet,
1. does that mean some if not all regions can go current and those that are DQ get scheduled for interviews?
2. Could it also be that that the decision is just to avoid an imminent lawsuit and that directions have been given to embassies to still go by the 4 tier prioritization just so no one can blame them for the actions of the individual embassies?
3. How soon do you think interviews may start?

1. No
2. Possibly.
3. Wait and see.

Hi Simon!
Thanks a lot for your help and suggestions.
I make it a point to watch all your videos. Generally don’t make it in time for the live Q&A cause of the time difference but I watch them later.
Not much of a question, but just keeping you in the loop cause it might help somebody else.
Case Number: 22AS12XXX
Embassy: Manama
Submitted DS-260: May 12th 2021
No of Applicants: 2
No of times Unlocked: 3 (Don’t ask!! None were mistakes but re-locating between countries and stuff)
1st DR date: Sept 1st 2021
1st DQ date: Oct 21st 2021
Last Unlock request: Nov 12th 2021
2nd DR date: Nov 17th 2021
2nd DQ date: Nov 18th 2021
Just saw the video about removal of tier prioritization with the wrong video title 😛
It read “November 11th” rather than November 20th 2021.
Hoping that the Manama embassy is a little relaxed considering only 15 winners as per the VB from August.
Keep up the good work!

Hi Brit,
Is not adding a social media handle in ds260 (but adding name and last name used for FB and LinkedIn) worth unlocking the DS?

Hi
I am from Sudan and 6001 won from my country. Are these the number of winners and their families, or is it the number of winners without their families?
November 21, 2021 at 19:04
