I get a lot of people asking the same question – here is my case number – when will I get interviewed? It is tiring answering that same question so let me try and explain my thoughts so that people can figure this out for themselves.
Every year is different, the case numbers reached in one year does not necessarily indicate a maximum number in the following year – many factors affect that. So – the most accurate answer to the question being asked is – I DON’T KNOW FOR SURE!
However, I do understand that people want to know something – so those of us that are experienced in DV lottery will often look at the previous year to give an approximate timeline. This isn’t a certain method – but it is possibly better than giving no answer at all – as long as people realize it is just a guess.
So – using the assumption that DV2016 will be approximately similar to DV2015 and applying some lessons learned I have created the charts below to give an APPROXIMATE idea of when processing will get to each number range per month. Now this is a GUESS. It is not 100% accurate!! Just a guess – OK?
You will note I have only taken the numbers up to August. That is because I do not want to give concern about where cutoffs will fall – and we are so early in the process NO ONE really has any certain idea of the final numbers.
So to find your APPROXIMATE date of interview find your number range in your region on the left scale and see where it falls on the month scale. At this point it could be a month wrong either way, so treat these dates as GUESSES.
The other question is when will the 2NL arrive. The 2NLs are sent around 5 weeks before the start of the interview month. So – the first DV2016 2NLs doe October interviews will be sent around late August. Then the 2NLs sent in late September will be for November interviews.
Lastly, late submission of your DS260 could change these dates. So, your case number might indicate an October interview, but that won’t happen if you don’t send in your DS260 until August. I hope that is clear.
I hope this will help and I will encourage people to check this post rather than answering this question multiple times every day.
One last point, the early months progress was faster than it should have been (because of the delays in processing DS260). So early months are AHEAD of these guesses below, and over time the monthly progress will slow down so that later months are more in line with the guesses. So – look at the VB and understand what has happened by the early fast progress.
So – here we go:-
Note: Ethiopia and Egypt will probably be slowed down a little behind these numbers.
When will I have an interview
August 4, 2015 at 03:27
Thanks, You are right everyone has asked that question including myself. Am Af35xxx, I can see from your guesstimate interview between May and June.. Thanks very informative graph. But I see from your graph will have a slow start with the visa bulletin. Af 5k, I guess no backlog.
August 4, 2015 at 04:02
That is what I am guessing. If there was a backlog, the numbers would start higher and slow down later.
August 7, 2015 at 10:17
Hi BirtSimon, I have a question regarding DS260, I won 2016 lottery and submit it early in May, but I had to change my interview location so I asked NVC, to unlock my DS260 and change my interview location, what do You think, will it effect on delay my interview date, thank YOU.
August 7, 2015 at 14:23
Well you haven’t told me your case number (which determines when you will be interviewed) or when you changed the data. But generally – no, it won’t cause a delay.
August 7, 2015 at 17:24
Dear BritSimon I my case number is 2016EU3978 , and I changed my Interview location on 25 june, 2015. Also another question pls. in our country 12 year high school education missed, we just study 10 year at school then university. I wrote to Armenian embassy they answered me that 10 year certificate will be ok, but I changed my interview location to London, if I will print mail from Armenian embassy it will be enough ? Or I will go to administrative processing. I have bachelor and master degrees. Thank You.
August 7, 2015 at 19:39
I cannot be sure how the London embassy will regard the Armenian email – they will probably want to check that direct with the Armenian US embassy.
August 4, 2015 at 04:08
Thanks for the good analysis Britsimonsays…. but does these mean that higher CNs above 50k series like AF56*** doesn’t have any hope in the draw? Regards.
August 4, 2015 at 05:16
No it does not mean that – although there is obviously some risk for numbers in that range given DV2015.
August 4, 2015 at 05:01
David read through the lines” Every year is different, the case numbers reached in one year does not necessarily indicate a maximum number in the following year”
Will all have to wait and see.
August 4, 2015 at 07:07
Thanks for your job well done Mr. Simon.
Please when will September Visa bulletin come out and the Visa update on CEAC?
August 4, 2015 at 13:43
The next VB will come out within the next week.
CEAC data for DV2016 may not be in the system for months. Last year it was not loaded until the end of December
August 4, 2015 at 07:07
Hi Amy,
I like your perspective, we wait and see. It might cause someone to be very anxious mostly if your number is just above the AF50 however as you put it, patience is a virtue we require.
Thanks Brit for the gragh. Allow me to ask what would have caused the big difference in the cutoff for AF in 2015 and 2014? if am not wrong the latter went as high as 80XXX but for the 2015 was 50XXX.
Thanks
August 4, 2015 at 13:42
The biggest single factor that caused the difference was Nigeria – that caused about 25000 case numbers difference – as I explained here:-
https://britsimonsays.com/nigeria-dv2015-case-number-reduction/
Additional factors have been the DS260 introduction which has meant it was easier (and free) to go to the next stage after the initial selection – BUT in AF region, this has caused a larger “no show” issue.
Lastly, don’t forget the case number density is a product of the entries and the holes created by fraudulent entries. For that reason the numbers cannot be directly or reliably compared year to year.
August 4, 2015 at 18:51
How many visa are togo use in this date, brit thank you to all
August 4, 2015 at 19:08
About 300.
August 4, 2015 at 18:59
Hi Brit. First i wanna thann you for your advices. Even though i was late with ds260 submission i got lucky to have an appointment scheduled for 1st of september. I am collecting all supporting doccuments. I have a few things that are worrying me:
1 high school graduation date. I jusf put date 20 may of the graduation year. My diploma was at the files pf my university at the time when i filled ds260 so i didnt know what date was that. Is it a problem if dates dont match ?
2 my birth certificate. My mom changed her last name , not retaining her maiden name at all, but at registration office they included her maiden name too which basically looks like my moms full name is like “mary johnson smith” instead of “mary johnson” which is the case.
Thanks in advance
August 4, 2015 at 19:06
1. No issue.
2. No issue.
August 4, 2015 at 20:46
Tks u brit
August 4, 2015 at 19:32
Lol thanks 🙂 that was quick .
August 5, 2015 at 03:46
Hi brits, does it mean AF78** will b interviewed btw nov, dec according to the graph?
August 5, 2015 at 04:04
roughly. It is just an approximation.
August 5, 2015 at 06:10
Hi Brit
While filling the DS260 on education I didn’t include my primary school I indicated my high school and undergraduate studies. Our education system is where by we have eight years in primary, four years in high school and four years in university of which have gone through. Will it be necessary for me to unlock and include the primary?
August 5, 2015 at 11:31
aduda@ in de form is indicated as a list all secondary n above education,,,,, so I understood it as,,u list ya secondary n tertiary educ,,,,don’t tink primary sch is needed according to wat is been stated in de form
August 5, 2015 at 13:34
Primary isn’t needed – but you will not be disadvantaged by listing it.
August 5, 2015 at 13:38
Yes include the primary – as it is 8 years of the 12 they care about (they don’t care about the university).
August 5, 2015 at 06:34
Hi Simon, I am EU16000 for DV2016. once you mentioned that I can expect my interview to be hold in Feb/Mar 2016. Now, I can see from the graph that it would actually be around May. Of course there are many factors which can impact the date, so I agree that it is hard to give a straightforward answer, however could later interview date be a result of less Green Cards available for Europe in DV2016 comparing to DV2015?
August 5, 2015 at 13:37
You have no need to worry – the process (and the GCs) are spaced out over the year.
August 5, 2015 at 15:51
Hi brit i undestand my interview time but i wish to submit my ds260 at november because of my support documents(police clearence, certificate of birth and others so that’s why i am asking you what you think about that plz brit tell me
August 5, 2015 at 17:52
If you delay the DS260 submission you might delay the interview – but so what? That is no issue.
August 5, 2015 at 15:55
Thank to you brits
August 5, 2015 at 16:15
Hello Simon,
Based on the lower number of selected for the DV2016 (nearly 40k less than DV2015), don’t you think it’s an advantage for the winners in the DV2016 ? I mean, the cut off would certainly increase.
Thanks
August 5, 2015 at 17:56
Why would the cutoff increase? The lower number of selectees simply means the highest number released in each region will be lower. So, take AF region. The highest selectee number was 89799. With less selectees that number will be lower – say – 60000. Now – why do you think that means the 50000 final cutoff would be higher????
August 6, 2015 at 05:39
Urgent!
I was scheduled an consular interview on 14th September by 2nd letter. But I received an email from Kathmandu Embassy that my interview is been rescheduled and moved to 2nd September instead. The weird part is there is no way I can verify that email. When I call them, I cannot talk to a real person. They made it impossible, may be because lot of people call. When I call it goes to automated messages and says “good bye” 2nd letter on DV website still shows 14th September.
Does this happen often? Email address seems to be of Consular Kathmandu. I already bought the tickets and stuff and now I have to change everything. Please help. Is it normal?
August 6, 2015 at 05:43
It sometimes happens, yes. Email them to confirm – but I would assume it is the earlier date.
August 6, 2015 at 05:43
Hi Britsimon.
I am from Nepal and got selected for DV 2016. My CN is 2016AS000001XX. I had submitted my DS-260 on 19 May 2016. When should i expect my 2nd letter and interview.
August 6, 2015 at 05:47
Did you read the article above? Your question is answered there!
August 6, 2015 at 08:44
Hello U.S. Department of State: Consular Affairs : The US Consulate in Accra is still backlogged and many applicants from May are still waiting while June/July are getting their visa issued. This is truly unfair and the hardware issue was not the fault of any applicants. We need an escalation to resolve this issue as most are getting standard responses. I understand that the consulate advises not to make any plans but how long do people have to put their lives on hold to reunite with their family, begin life as a family in US. The whole context of “don’t make any plans” is being abused and visas aren’t issued properly in order. PLEASE HELP US!
August 6, 2015 at 09:30
i just submitted my DS-260 in 5-Aug-15. When should i expect my interview. pls suggest.. CN no. 2016AS000095XX.
August 6, 2015 at 13:37
Your number is quite high compared to the final cutoff this year – so there is a chance that your number is too high. We won’t really know until next July – and in any case you would not be interviewed before September 2016 – assuming you squeeze in.
August 6, 2015 at 16:22
Hy brit sir i m the selecttee of ds2016 from nepal n i wanna ask u that what is the range of last cn for nepal
August 6, 2015 at 16:31
It is too early for anyone to know that.
August 6, 2015 at 19:40
i m a Dv 2016 winner. i m now about doing my birth cert since ive never done one be fore. will the preparation of a new birth cert create any problem for me?
2. Brit the arrangements of my name on my letter is different from those on my certificates. will that also cerate a problem for me during my interview.
3. brit my case number is AF000001++. when do you think my interview date would be scheduled?
August 6, 2015 at 19:59
1. That should not be an issue
2. Yes that can be a serious issue. In Accra they are likely to deny you based on errors such as this.
3. Early (October) if you submitted your DS260 early.
August 6, 2015 at 20:39
Tanx alot Mr. Britsimon. But can you please advise on what to do my question no. 2 to minimize the risk of being denied a visa?
August 7, 2015 at 06:01
There is nothing you can do. You have to decide whether to take the risk or not.
August 6, 2015 at 20:43
Brit on ma high school certificate,,,, ma name is arranged as kwakye paul kofi,,, bt on ma university certificate is arranged as kofi paul kwakye,,,,can dis cause me coz am in Ghana,,, thanks
August 7, 2015 at 05:59
Normally not an issue – although Accra embassy might have a problem with it…
August 7, 2015 at 03:34
hi simond when i check Visa Status it says
Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number is this normal? and when ill they start sending notificatin in asia ?
August 7, 2015 at 05:55
DV2016 cases are not in CEAC yet – they won’t be for months.
2NLs for October interviews will go out in about 2 to 3 weeks.
August 7, 2015 at 03:56
cn 2016AS000096XX from Burma, submitted my DS260 on 20-Jul-15. when will be my interview date?
August 7, 2015 at 05:54
Your number might be too high to get an interview – so all you can do is wait until next July, to see if you get current for a September 2016 interview.
August 7, 2015 at 09:17
Hi Simon, I’m from Europe and had yesterday my interview. They said that my Visa is approved and they gave me DHL instructions. Now, when I check on CEAC website, I’m in status Administrative processing. Isn’t that bad?
August 7, 2015 at 14:24
It is normal that after approval the case shows AP for a day or two before switching to issued.
August 8, 2015 at 18:51
Thank you Simon! I almost died when I saw AP status. Now it is Issued. Do you think it is safe for me to quit my job now? I mean, visa is printed, it’s only a matter of time when it will be in my possession, right?
August 9, 2015 at 05:28
Wait until you get the passport.
August 7, 2015 at 11:17
Hi Simon, i have some questions regarding my case.
– My CN is 2016AS000055XX what do you think, is my CN safe?
– I have university degree diploma but i haven’t got my 12th year school diploma, is it a big problem?
– As i read that i-134 forms should be with us on interview day, if i request that form from someone it will expire within the next 6 months. Should i wait and request it later?
– My child’s birthday is at 05/01/1995 what do you think?
Please answer me
August 7, 2015 at 14:19
1. Yes
2. Yes that could be a problem. Check the qualifications required in your country (the embassy website). Read the link below about work experience too.
3. It doesn’t expire but it should be current. Better to get it nearer the interview.
4. So – your child will turn 21 next January. However, due to the CSPA he/she will be considered a child for 216 days after that date and as long as you interview before September 2016, your child will be considered a child and can get a derivative visa. Some COs won’t understand that, so I suggest you print out some information about the CSPA.
https://britsimonsays.com/child-turn-21-can-heshe-get-visa/
https://britsimonsays.com/education-or-work-experience-qualifying-for-the-dv-lottery/
August 7, 2015 at 12:35
Dear Brit i wish to ask if when a visa is given one can choose when to travail or you are just being told when to travail?
August 7, 2015 at 14:12
You are given the printed visa with an expiry date – typically 6 months (not longer than 6 months) after approval. You travel whenever you ant by the expiry date.
August 7, 2015 at 13:32
Hi Brit
I’ve got selected for dv 2016 and I don’t know anyone in US to send me a sponsorship I134
And I have 7000$ in a bank
I want to ask you if it’s enough to get a visa?
And tell me how much money at least I should have ??
August 7, 2015 at 14:08
Generally they look for around $10,000 per person.
August 7, 2015 at 15:30
i just submitted my DS-260 for dv2016 on 6 July 2015 My Cn is 49137
Can i hope for an interview?
August 7, 2015 at 15:55
It is too early to know for sure…
August 7, 2015 at 19:12
Hi brit if i receive the 2nls so how many days or mounth left to schedul my interview plz explain me
August 7, 2015 at 19:43
The send the 2NL about 6 or 7 weeks before your interview.
August 7, 2015 at 17:30
My case no is 8** for 2016 dv programme. I filled my ds 260 in July 28. I filled ds 260 all my family (4 person) . If I will get visa , may I should go alone at first ? And I want to bring all my family after 6/7 month letter. Is it possible ? Due to late summation of ds260, my 2nl and interview will delay ? Please reply me.
August 7, 2015 at 19:42
Yes your late submission will probably delay your interview a bit. However, that is no problem – it just means you interview later.
Your family must enter within 6 months after the approval.
August 7, 2015 at 20:07
So brit let me ask you this if i submit my ds260 today then how long must wait to receive the 2lns…
August 7, 2015 at 21:28
I don’t know exactly – we don’t have confirmation of DS260 processing times for DV2016 applicants. Just be patient…
August 20, 2015 at 18:42
When will start 2nl ? I filled my ds260 in July 28, my case no is 8++ . When will get 2nl and will held my interviewed ?
August 21, 2015 at 00:59
2NLs will start in the next week. However, your late submission of the DS260 will delay your interview – probably to November or December.
August 7, 2015 at 21:00
Hello Simon,
I’m 2016 winner as a principle applicant. I filled ds260 form, there is aletter in my wife’s surname in ds260 form not in her passport. Surname in the passport is Abdalla i submitted it as Abdallah. Please advise
August 7, 2015 at 21:29
As she is a derivative – that is no problem.
August 7, 2015 at 21:34
Brit if you don’t know for dv2016 but tell me about dv2015 about that problem for my question plz i wanna figure that out
August 7, 2015 at 21:37
Good grief! Why are you so concerned??? You have waited since May to fill out your DS260 and now all of a sudden you are panicking about when you’ll get an interview. Calm down and relax!
August 8, 2015 at 05:07
Hi Britsimon,
2 questions:
– in Albanian Embassy, is it mandatory for the applications to be prepared by an attorney? I mean all supportive dox?
– how can I check 2nl if I dont remember which email I have given?
Thank you much
August 8, 2015 at 05:18
1. No
2. You can check the ESC site directly.
August 8, 2015 at 05:26
God day brit;
-my passport and diploma doesn’t have same birthdays date so what must i do now but on my original DV entry i did write the birthdays date same like my passport…wht must i do now
August 8, 2015 at 14:24
Just wait for the interview. There is nothing more you can do!
August 9, 2015 at 23:34
Attorneys are terrible. Never use one. Better off just using the forum.
August 8, 2015 at 06:55
Simon, as you suggested that i print out some information about CSPA to show it for CO, i searched through google and internet but i haven’t found something like that to show them. Would you please link me one site for that. That is urgent for my child please. Thank you for everything
August 8, 2015 at 14:14
It isn’t urgent – you have many months before you need it.
I googled “CSPA for DV lottery” and this link was the first that came up.
http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/USCIS/Outreach/Upcoming%20National%20Engagements/National%20Engagement%20Pages/2011%20Events/July%202011/CSPA_TeleconferencePPT.pdf
August 8, 2015 at 08:21
Hello simon i always look at your blogs which are very helpful though i am a 2016 DV winner from nepal and i fill my ds260 form in June but i have a question about my issue, my father have two different names and surnames in two countries. we reside india for around 30 years, and in india he got different name and in nepalese citizenship he got another name and surname though we are nepalese citizen and i have the document of proof that these two names are of my father and are the same person which i have issue from government authorities of Nepal……so what you think the CO will react in my interview or it will be a issue for me in Interview…
August 8, 2015 at 08:35
and i have done my education in India so all the certificates of my degree have other name of my father, which are different from the nepalese citizenship card so i am worried….
August 8, 2015 at 14:11
Obviously this sounds bizarre – but perhaps it is more common there. I can’t predict whether that will be OK – it will be something the CO will decide.
August 8, 2015 at 20:32
Enter your comment here…hello Simon my name is marie mbah my Cn is 2016AF000385xx. Is my Cn too high and when should i expect my 2nl.am from cameroon.
August 9, 2015 at 05:27
Based on the information above, when do you think you will get your 2NL?
April 29, 2016 at 10:58
Hey Sushil,
What happened finally at the interview. Guide on the documents u took with you.
August 8, 2015 at 15:39
A spouse needs to appear interview with applicant? Coz he is ready at states..thank you in advance Britt!!
August 9, 2015 at 05:31
Normally yes – but it depends on the circumstances. ..
August 8, 2015 at 15:40
Hi simon. I have a case number 2016EU000067**. I submitted ds260 on june 11. Based on the cutoff numbers of all the previous years i am supposed to be current in October. But in your new topic you calculated an expected cutoff number around 3000 for EU in October. Sorry to ask again the bothering question; when do you think i will get an interview? Thanks
August 9, 2015 at 05:30
I have been cautious with the numbers above, but within a couple of days we will know the October numbers.
August 9, 2015 at 09:47
Hello mr brit! I have a question about my case. We (me and my husbant) went for interview last week but the officer gave us back our passport and said that he wanted more time and information about our marriage (made after winning the lottery) i sent other proofs and i am waiting. So,how many days can they take for that and what is the chance to get the visa??thank you.
August 9, 2015 at 18:40
It is a pity you did not take adequate proof to the interview. Now it is unpredictable because AP sometimes gets cleared quickly, sometimes not. All you can do is wait.
August 26, 2015 at 14:01
Hello again and thank u so much for help.now my status is ready.if u know what does it mean? Is something that i can do now?please tell me what do you think? God bless you Brit.
August 26, 2015 at 14:04
Remember that was adm.proc. till today
August 26, 2015 at 14:26
Again, that is quite common – you could contact the embassy to ask.
August 9, 2015 at 11:54
Dear Simon i wouldn’t know that why am asking. Is my number too high for 2016. I think i will have the 2nl by April.
August 9, 2015 at 18:37
OK – so that is a reasonable guess based on the information above.
August 9, 2015 at 13:47
Hi Simon. Am not very clear about police clearance. How many years should one go back? For example, if you did o levels in a neighbouring country in 1995. Should you go for police clearance? Thanks
August 9, 2015 at 18:34
It is clear in the instructions – you go back to age 16.
August 9, 2015 at 17:40
First of all thanks for your help Britsimon, i have few clarifications
My DV number is 5**, i still havent submitted my application because my Passport got delayed in order to update on the DS260. however am hopefull to submit my application on August 11th. In this case when will you think i will be called for an interview.
Next question My skilled occupation started on 04.01.2013 and ended in 04.01.2015 , recently promoted to different job, in this case should i update my skilled job on past employment on DS260 form ?? or in the present job tab?
Next should i wait till i get my interview date inorder to apply for police clearance and Medical Checkup. Or should this be done before hand before the interview date is finalised for me.
Next Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law? i replied “No” and updated them that my MY PARENTS HAVE MISPLACED/LOST MY VACCINATION CARD since i was a kid. is this a suitable answer.
Please help me on this Britsimon so that i can update this online form by August 11th.
Thank you
August 9, 2015 at 18:26
1. With the delay it is hard to predict exactly when you will get interviewed – we don’t know how long DS260 pprocessing is taking for DV2016 cases yet.
2. You should create the full employment history in your DS260 form – so you add additional jobs going back in time.
3. Yes wait until you get your 2NL.
4. Yes that is fine.
August 9, 2015 at 18:19
Hi Simon. How long after receiving your DV visa until you can pay the UCIS fee? Also do you know the link to register and pay for this fee? Thank you for your all your support
August 9, 2015 at 18:23
When you get your DV visa they will give you information on paying the fee. They suggest paying the fee before you travel to the USA – but you can also pay after you enter the USA.
August 14, 2015 at 09:42
Thanks Simon. I have another question. I have received my visa and package. Was informed by the embassy that I will need to enter and remain in US for up to three months until the cards arrives then can return to finalize everything before the final move. I informed the embassy on my intention to do a POE for one week and will make the final move later but was informed not to. Advice

Whoever informed you that does not understand the process or the law. You can get on the next flight home after activation – I know a lot of people who have had very short activation trips. You just have to make sure that your GC will be received by someone responsible/trustworthy.

Dear Simon,
Hope you doing well !
I think this question interests all.
While filling out the DS-260 form, there is qtn. section: Mailing and Permanent address Info ( Pls provide the foll. info. on where u intend to live after arrival in US)
1. I want to knw that the person, who I provided his address Name/Address/Mob.No, should have a particular Visa status like a legal resident (Creen Card) or citezen in the USA ? Because the person I submitted has got a J1 visa. Does this affect negatively to obtaining the visa?
2. Should I email to KCC to unlock my form to change the permanent address so?
looking to your answer
August 10, 2015 at 06:04
1. A J1 holder cannot normally be a sponsor. The sponsor should be citizen/LPR/H1/L1 or similar and US taxpayer.
2. Yes.
August 10, 2015 at 08:49
Hi Britsimon am back again after reading some of the recent questions. on the DS260 form they have requested the address where we intend to live and the address where the green card should be mailed. i have updated my friends address who is under a student visa and rented in an apartment. In this case is that ok to have his name and address given. i have no one to sponsor me to US, only with my personal funds i have to apply.
August 10, 2015 at 13:09
Yes that is fine.
August 10, 2015 at 08:57
Dear Brit
I have two Quz
1. Do i need to have the high school certificate or collage certificate is enough , my high school certificate doesn’t have my last name (its have the full name except the last name) . hight school fninshed 1997 and collage is 2003
2. according to the above , i think i will have the interview in Mar/April as my case 2016AF00022xxx from Egypt . is that is correct or it will be April/May.
thanks in Advance
August 10, 2015 at 13:07
1. The High School certificate is important.
2. It’s an approximate guide – so wait and see.
August 10, 2015 at 13:11
thank you Dear
so , will they accept the High School certificate without the last name. its very difficult to correct the same
August 10, 2015 at 13:15
I don’t know for sure – it will depend on the CO.
August 12, 2015 at 16:00
Dear Brit,
After releasing October number , when do you think now about af22xxx interview date (Egypt)
Thanks in advance
August 10, 2015 at 14:12
Hi Simon,
Thanks for your effort. I am going through your posts and replies every day just not to ask you a repetitive questions; but I have few questions without solid answers.
1. I have already issued my PCC back in June-15 and as per your expectations my interview will be in October. It is fine or I have to issue a new one, take into consideration that I am leaving away from my homeland and I have issued the PCC just before leaving to the current country of residence (while I was in vacation)
2. Just reconfirm two things I was working abroad for the last 5 years but I never hit the 1 year in any country where I was working. I believe I shouldn’t get PCC for this and my home country PCC is enough?. Also, few rumors I saw while surfing the various websites that I should get 2 originals for each PCC I submit, is that correct?.
3. I am living in non-english country, and I have issued official certificates in english from my country, do I still need to translate the documents that not in english?. Where I am afraid that the official documents that in issued in english not meet the condition of “The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the:Translation is accurate, and, Translator is competent to translate. ”
4. Also, I have translated few documents in my original country that meet the above condition, is it fine or I have to translate it again by a certified translator by the embassy where I will attend the interview.
5. My wife is pregnant and the due date is within october, can I send to the embassy requesting the interview to be on september? or it is not applicable.
6. Also, we had a plan to get our child be born in the states , if the plan went alright and the child been born before the interview. is it affecting our chances and do I need to add him to the application??.
Finally, can I propose something. If you can write a post on how we should be prepared for the interview and the arrangements/order of the supporting documents.
Thanks;
August 10, 2015 at 14:18
1. That is ok.
2. If any of your trips is close to 12 months you might want to get the PCC for that country anyway. 1 Original is fine.
3. You need translations of any required document that is not in English OR the official language in the country that you will be interviewed.
4. Same as 3.
5. No you cannot be interviewed before your current date – and you don’t get to choose your interview date.
6. If the child is born before the interview and is NOT born in the States (i.e. is a US citizen by birth) then you need to add the child to your application.
August 11, 2015 at 14:27
Thanks Simon, regarding your point no. 3, does it mean I can present the documents in Arabic if the official language in the country is Arabic?.
regarding no.6 if the child is US citizen by birth, it doesnt require to be added. otherwise, it is a must…I got it right?.
finally I haven’t heard about my proposal, or at least you can refer me to another reliable source.
Thanks again for your effort.
August 11, 2015 at 14:52
For 3, yes Arabic would be OK in that case. Obviously English translations may be useful for other documents in the future – so you might want to do those anyway.
For 6, in that case (a citizen) the child would be on your DS260, but would not be on their own DS260.
I’m working on the proposal. Many have asked for that – although the main advice is to read the dvselectee website.

Thanks Brit for your informative posts.
I have one question. I currently live in Germany and am planning to move to Czech in two months for work [professional job with one year contract]. But the visa process at CZ emabassy has made me pause in completing the DS260 form. It’s because I am not sure which country to choose as my interview place. It seems to me I have two options at the moment:
1. Choosing CZ right now. If in any case I don’t move there, I contact to KCC to change it to DEU.
2. Choosingn DEU now, and again contacting KCC to change it to CZ, if I move there.
So, my question is: Which option do you think I should go with? And what are the ensuing risks or efforts to be made?
My case number is AF24***.
Many thanks!!!
August 10, 2015 at 15:15
Either option is possible – up to you about which is better.
August 10, 2015 at 15:18
Thanks for the fast reply.

Hi Simon, i have one stupid question, but I still need an answer:
I adopted a cat named Putin. Will this be a issue when I try to enter US as DV winner? Can they reject my entrance to US because of something like this? thanks.
August 10, 2015 at 16:43
Of course not.
August 11, 2015 at 06:22
Anyone owning a cat named Putin clearly fails the basic character test.
August 11, 2015 at 13:51
Oh I don’t know – I think it is a statement that Putin is a pussycat!
August 10, 2015 at 16:13
dear brit,
you are doing a great job helping people. good bless you 🙂
I think i have read in one of you comments that the visa bulletins are released every date 10!
So i was anxious to know when will be released the next visa bulletin for october interviews.
I’m a dv2016 winner
August 10, 2015 at 16:42
It is around the 10th of the month generally – and no later than the 15th of the month. The VB expected out now is the fiorst for DV2016 – October interviews.

Hi brit. its been some time since i left the computer trying to get over what happen to us in that final bulleting for 2015, nevertheless, we are back to be a help to other people who also won and seeking honest advise from us. like you said, 2016 cases will not be in the CEAC for some months, but we are waiting for that time when it will enter the CEAC data. at which time we will be looking up to you for predictions, the density in the case numbers, the response rate and so. to be able able to advise cases like 2016AF5421x whither or not they will get an interview.
August 11, 2015 at 00:01
Welcome back. You are exactly right – once we see the CEAC data we will see density and max case number. I think AF is overselected again this year – so there will most likely be a cutoff – but exactly where that will be – it is too early to say.
August 11, 2015 at 07:18
Hi Brit. If AF over selected as u said, do case number 24*** from egyptwill be under stress because of what happened this year and low number of selectees
August 11, 2015 at 11:35
no i think you are safe do not worry
August 11, 2015 at 13:50
No, that CN should be safe.
